[D20] Nexus World

Do to being pissed off because I clicked off the page (3 dame times) while typing my last word (ever time on the dame last word), so now I'll have to start over and I'll be making this somewhat short. Anyway, this game is somewhat based off of D&D.

This is an everything roleplay; all timelines, alternate universes, alien planets, races, powers, magics, and technological levels included. Effectively, you can play a Human Knight while your other party mates play a Machamp Monk, a Geonosian Sniper, a Orc Technomancer, and a Battle-Droid Sith along side you. This type of roleplay is similar to Palladium Books' Rifts series and/or Marvel's Battleworld series. So, effectively, there is no limit to the type of character and setting you may face (within' site rules and reason of curse).

Setting wise, some (pretty random and) mysterious even occurs that forces several different realities to merge into one plane of existence. This endless land of a world is called Nexus, which is constantly being replenished and populated by portals/events called rifts. Some are simple one time effects that can transport anything from a simple person to an entire civilization while others are constant rifts that never close and permanently connect Nexus with other worlds/dimensions.

You'll be roleplaying as a group of escaped prisoners who passed through one of these rifts which has sent you along with a few others to Nexus. The area of Nexus that you'll be wandering will have been their for around a year or so, though some areas may be a bit more recent.

Warning:

The roleplay will be done using a sandbox style, though sadly it won't have an overarching storyline. It will simply be a series of small to mid-level questlines, though I will be attempting to create a story as your characters move across the world.

My armor system is not yet finished, though it will be soon.

Also, as of yet, I don't really have any factions to populate to story. This isn't to much of a concern, since this game will be a series of free roaming quests. Regardless, I'll most likely pick 5 or more nations from nationstates at random and simply adapt them. After that I'll use generators, randomizers, books, games, and my own imagination if I feel anything is missing at that point is needed to fill in the gaps. If you are interested in joining, feel free to suggest areas, nations, factions, and races you'd like to see. Perhaps Equestria should be located next to Nazi Germany? Who knows, who knows. . .

I have the character sheets finished and all the stats are in my head, so ask if you have any questions.

Tell me, if I wish to be a disciple of the Booted Hammer fighting style who trained under the legendary hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, would that be viable?

@vinom

So you'd like to be a disciple of and trained under Mario? Ya sure, though I believe the fighting technique he uses is called the Goomba Stomp. Anyway, I have no problem with homebrew classes or races as long as you provide me with some of the source material so I don't have to worry about your character being over-powered. Same applies to crated/made-up races or classes. Just make sure you know what skills you'll be giving your character as they level up.

Is Luigi really the "hero" of the mushroom kingdom?

Though yes, you are still indeed free to do so.

So basically if i come from a very technology-based universe, i can have a plasma pistol that can kill in one hit a knight that comes from a more primitive universe? Wouldn't that be too strong?

Then his blood gives you the plague, and you need to make a balanced character.

That's called realism, this type of roleplay is as far from that as you can get (in relation to combat at least). No, Vinom is right, fallout rules apply here. Playing an unarmed character against a gang of plasma firing raiders will be a viable option.
Weapons will be balanced regardless of technological level, though weapons with clips/magazines have the inherent advantage of being able to fire multiple shots before taking a turn to reload. That being said, some cities may be separated by large areas of land. So if your in a primitive part of the map. . . Good luck finding ammo for your laser/plasma gun or even ammunition for modern firearms. Being able to forge round shot, for lets say a musket-type weapon, won't be all that hard for any blacksmith.

This sounds really nice. It would be pretty awesome to see anyone from anytime from anywhere interacting with each other. Can you sign me up, perhaps? (^.^)

Oh yes, sign me up. I will be here to save this world from threats as a Starblessed should.

No problem, is there anything in particular you'd like to see in the areas you will be traveling in? Any faction or race?

Honestly, I really would like the feel like there was a blank planet and factions and cities were scooped out of other realities to fill it. I want to see the culture clashes of Kobolds dealing with Shyguys, or Jawas getting their shit stolen by Pixies.

Hmm, alright, then I'll have to put more though into my nations placement. How popular is kingdom hearts on here?

Never played it... but now that Disney has both Marvel and Starwars, we might see Deadpool with a lightsaber Keyblade might make an appearance. Which might be worth by a poster, but not the game.

I know of kingdom hearts, but i never played it. I just never found it too interesting.

As a nation/race, i would consider putting in the orks, from the Warhammer 40.000 universe
