Realistic or Modern Cirque de Monstres

Paul looked around the small tent. He was wearing his usual show attire. Things were very lively as various workers were getting last minute preparations done and guests were already gathering in the front area. He went over his list, he knew Nora was not going o do her pre-show. That upset him a it especially since she would not tell him why. They truly had a father daughter relationship. As he looked towards the front gate he saw that there was already quite a turnout for the night. He waited for the gates to open to start his speech to attract people to the small tent.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nora walked out of the trailer area. She was wearing the same plain black bra as earlier and a purple skirt. Danu was draped over her neck like usual. As she was walking she was going over what happened that morning. She didn't know if she could talk to Samantha again. She wanted to, just to tell her how they share a similar fate. Her mind wandered to the time she found that out. She sat in the prep area between the tents and the trailer area, waiting for the shows to start. She was supposed to do a hoop act to attract audience members but, she wasn't in the mood.

(gates will open in a bit @Icefox11 when you post as Nanami can you open the gates?)

Samantha

Samantha sat at her vanity mirror, applying a soft touch of gold glitter to her face. Not that she needed it, she could easily entrance the human audience without even doing anything, but where was the fun in that? She slipped on her white gloves, her top hat, and attached a horsewhip to the side of her red jacket. She stared at her reflection for a moment.

“Simply marvelous,” she concluded, now feeling a bit herself again due to the costume. Opening nights were always the ones filled with the most excitement. She sat up walking briskly to her trailer door, and suddenly stopped. Her hazel eyes couldn’t help to rest on the gold picture frame placed neatly next to the box of cigars and bouquet of roses on her kitchen counter. She always left it out the night before a show, to ask for luck. She wasn’t sure how she could have forgotten about it…

Picking up the frame, she studied it’s contents, the photo inside showing a young woman smiling cheerily by the seaside. The wind had caused her long red curls to have gotten stuck on her lips when the photo was taken, causing her laughter in the snapshot. Sam pursed her own lips and quietly set the photo back face-down. She took a deep breath and exited her trailer.

Atl

Already inside the main tent, Atl had chosen to go over the tank and chains yet again. Nervously he locked, and unlocked the chains. He wasn’t even sure what the cause of his nervousness was. It certainly wasn’t the crowd, for although he had only been a part of the circus for six months, he had already gotten used to the performances.

It was probably the lack of food and sleep yet again. He closed his eyes, allowing his senses to cover the mile radius around the circus. For a moment, he thought he felt a tinge of death somewhere on the outskirts of the one mile mark. He threw his chains down in frustration, causing the workers around him to jump. There was no point in getting excited over a meal he wouldn’t even be allowed to eat.

(I will post Kori’s side after a couple of other people post. Here are some examples of what Sam’s outfit looks like.

Ignis was finishing the last few preparations for his performance that night. Dawning his glimmering metallic blue cloak and black suit. Crisp white gloves and top hat were placed off to the side as he carefully outlined his eyes in black/not that they needed to be. The dark circles around them would have been more than enough/ Leaning back he checked his handy work. Not terrible, a little uneven, but who would even notice with his mask on? Taking in a deep breath he slipped on the gloves and hat, placed the mask over his face and exited the trailer. The evening light glinting off of it's glossy surface gave him a rather, eerie look.

((Just imagine that the cloak is blue and not over his head.))

Luna sighed, dropping the brush she was running though her hair. Her act was perfect, and Veshnavi fit in perfectly. She sighed, braiding a strand of hair. She had a tiger patterned top and skirt, her hair down with a small braid on each side of her head. Her markings were in full view now. She sighed, adding a few more smudges to her costume. She sighed and walked towards the main tent, hoping to see Alekin.

---------------------------------------------

Nanami looked around, waiting. She had to open the gates. She sighed, and walked to the gates. She opened them, letting the people into the circus. She greeted the people and looked at the people as they passed her. She smiled, leaving the gates open for the rest of them. She walked to the main stage. "Everything in order?" She asked Sammy.

Freyja was setting up in the side show tent, making sure her hooks were in proper place and that they were movable. She wondered if her boss could could help set her up when it came time, but she didnt know if the blood would make him upset. She decided to look around for him.

Conner was in his "uniform", the stereotypical old school unitard and he even went through the effort to pencil in a cheesy mustach. Shoving his way past anyone in his way, he makes sure he has his stuff for another of the many times. He was still new to the circus, and always got anxious around show time. He may not be good enough for the big tent, but wasn't going to screw it up here.

Samantha

Samantha turned to Nanami, the tassels on her coat’s pauldrons gently swinging about. “Ah, there you are my celestial beauty!” She greeted.

Noticing the group of humans slowly infiltrating the circus grounds, her eyes widened. “Oh! You’ve opened the gates! Why didn’t you say something!” Giving the Angel a playful shove, she quickly scurried to the tent entrance, shouting commands to the workers in her wake.

Kori

Kori had been ready for some time. Already in her black leotard she was already bored of stretching and decided to was now time to be in place. As she neared her destination, she was quick to notice absence of her Boss.

Entering the Side Show tent just as Freyja was exiting, she quickly took ahold of her arm. “The gates have opened. Where is Jake?” She demanded.

Red was finishing the last touches of her costume, putting her hair up and finishes her make up. She gives a thorough brushing to her wolves, slipping on their collars, after all they needed a good costume as well, and makes her way out of the trailer. She puts the hood up on the costume as she makes her way towards the main tent to get her wolves in "performing mode". After having them ready she paces a bit until it was time for her act, running through her script and her act in general in her mind. She had changed a few things and was just running through it to herself to make sure everything went smoothly.

Nora was walking towards the trailer are when she heard that Jake was not around. Come to think of it, she hadn't seen him all day. She walked over to Freyja and Kori.

"You guys haven't seen him too?"

She looked over at his trailer.

"Wouldn't hurt to go knock on his trailer door."

She wondered where he was, she hoped he hadn't disappeared like so many do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul watched as the crowds came in. He started drumming up interest in the acts, dazzling people with fancy word choices. He was quite surprised with the turnout. Even after the rainstorm earlier people came out in the 100's.

I guess our reputation is good

He continued talking about the acts happening in the small tent.

Luna was preparing the cats, including Veshnavi, for there act. The tiger had picked up on the moves quite quickly and surprised everyone. She smiled at her new tiger and patted her head before going though the motions verbally with all of them and promising a long session of back rubs and steak afterwards.

Ignis could not help himself with such a large turnout. On his way to the big tent he stopped in a little spot near the vendors to watch the families walk by and perform for the children while their parents purchased food before the show. He had at least a half an hour, so why not! They were frightened at first, so he quickly made his mask appear to be something more playful. A big white rabbit's face with a goofy grin. Then much to their amusement he moved his cloak out of the way to reveal a few small, wooden marionettes. Making them move and dance about without their strings. They watched with bright eyes as he made them run about their feet and climb up his hat. Then wild giggling ensued as he made the puppets distract the vendor and steal cotton candy for them.

Alekin wore the suit of armor he usually wears during his performances. The armor was made out of ice, while the capes and other details of the armor was made out of fire. He was going over to Luna to check on her and Veshnavi. Along the way, he saw some of the visitors of the circus. Most of the people gawk at him, especially the children. A small crowd started to form around him, blocking his way. Smiling, he decided to show them a teaser. Holding both his hands together in a way that he appears to be holding something. Both of his hands burst into flames. When he opened it, a pigeon with a body of ice and feathers of flame flew out of my hands. The pigeon the blew in a explosion of sparks and frost, dazzling the crowd. The crowd applauded and made room for me to pass. Arriving at the main tent, he finally saw Luna. "Hey Luna!" He sa id, calling out to her. He roved his helmet and smiled at her. Luna ran to him and Alekin enveloped her in a hug. "Good luck." I said, giving Luna a soft kiss on the lips. "So, how is Veshnavi doing?" Alekin asked, scratching the tiger between her ears.

This is how Alekin's armor looks like, just imagine that it's made of ice and it has a flaming cape.

Luna smiled when she saw him, running to give him a hug. She kissed him back when he kissed her. "She is doing great." She said, smiling up at him. He looked good in his outfit, but she wasn't sure that was a good thing to say at the moment. She purred to his scratch and smiled, getting down from his arms as everyone was staring at her and him. "We should probably check in with Sammy."

(Let's wait for the others to respond so we don't scare them away)

Freyja was getting her performance clothes from her wardrobe when she was asked if she had seen Jake, "Im sorry I havent..but yea knocking on his door would be a good idea" She shuffled through her closet till she found what she needed. Its back was open enough for the wing insertion and when it was time to use the hooks.

Kori

Kori bristled at Freyja's seemingly nonchalant response. “Well maybe you should hurry up about it, no?” She hissed at the Fae, eyes quickly swiveling to Nora. “And what are you doing here? This isn’t even your tent!”

Although in her human form, Kori’s eyes could still be described as snake-like, and they now narrowed. “Or are you running away because you got in a love quarrel with your precious ringleader?” She said mockingly, referring to Paul. There had been many occasions where she had witnessed Nora coming out of Paul’s trailer at unseemly hours of the night. She didn’t actually believe there was anything going on between the two, but Nora didn’t know that, and she was feeling the need to push some buttons.

Samantha

Clasping her hands together in excitement, Sam smiled at the flow of incoming guests. She spotted Paul chatting up the crowd, a job she would soon be executing herself.

“Oh Paul, my faithful companion, I’m absolutely deluged with relief at sight of this turn out. Aren’t you?” Her dimples made a quick appearance as she smiled with child-like glee. The circus was truly her home, and this many guests meant money would be made. And money being made meant all the people she loved so dearly would be well taken care of.

Nora didn't even feel like giving attitude back to Kori.

"whatever"

She turned and walked to Jake's trailer. She knocked.

"Jake! Jake!"

She pressed her ear up to the trailer, she heard nothing. She needed to ask Paul if he had seen Jake. She quickly walked to the front of the small tent when she saw Samantha talking to Paul, she decided to hang back for bit. When he mentioned her she ran up and whispered in his ear.

"We can't find Jake."

She shook her head at his question.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul turned to Samantha.

"Ah yes, I am quite happy with turnout myself."

He was about to continue when he sensed a certain someone.

"Nora my dear. Why are you hiding?"

He watched her run up to him. His eyes widened at her comment.

"My dear, what do you mean Jake is missing? Is he not at his trailer?."

He turned to Samantha.

"Have you seen Jake today?"

This concerned him, he hoped Jake hadn't been exposed or worse killed.

"I'm glad to hear that." Alekin said, scratching Veshnavi between the ears. He had hoped that both of them would get along well, and it seems that they are getting along well. Holding her hand, Alekin gave her a quick kiss. "Let's go to Sammy then." He said, grinning as he used the nickname.

Samantha

Sam’s smile had frozen at the sight of Nora, and instantly fell at Paul’s question. “Jake?” She repeated, furrowing her brows. Placing a finger on her lips, she tilted her head. When was the last time she had seen him? Before the rain? After?

Her eyes widened with realization, “Oh Paul! I haven’t seen him since the night before set up was completed!” The worry from his disappearance caused any awkwardness Sam felt around Nora to vanish. She quickly stepped forward, grabbing her by the shoulders, “My radiant charmer you simply must tell me you’ve seen him somewhat recently?” Hope glimmered in her eye. It just wasn’t like him to run off before a performance, and certainly not before an Opening Night.

Nanami glared at Samantha. "I will say nothing." she muttered, her eyes seeming to gleam. She put on a smile again. She continued greeting and began to gather everyone in the main tent.

-------------------------

Luna nodded, taking his hand and walking towards Samantha.

Nora looked at Samantha, she tried to be as normal as possible. Since Samantha grabbed her shoulders she blushed.

"I haven't seen him since take down in Munich."

She looked at Paul as she stepped away from Sam.

"You don't think that.......that thing happened to him do you?"

Her eyes were filled with fear, the thing was being revealed for what a performer really was, especially if they were not human, was very dangerous.

She grabbed Paul's arm and hugged it. She didn't like thinking about what happened to performers who were revealed. Come to think of it there were some other people she has not seen today.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul looked at Nora. He didn't like when she mentioned that because, it always made her upset. he patted her on the head.

"Don't worry my dear I'm sure he is fine."

He didn't want Nora to get too worked up before the show. He looked at Samantha.

"I haven't seen him since set up as well."

he looked at Nora again.

"You should go get ready for the show okay."

He sighed as she squeezed his arm tighter.

"Sorry mes petits amis. I must be off." He said suddenly and stood up again. He had caught a glimpse of his watch and as usual time had begun to slip away from him. He didn't go without out a finale though. He leaned down and made the puppets wave goodby before climbing back into his cloak. The parents may have given him dirty looks, but the kids smiled brightly and swarmed him for a little thank you hug. A few of them sticking dandy lions in his hat as well. After that he bowed and with a grand gesture disappeared in a puff of smoke. Reappearing near inside of the main tent and joining the group gathering there.

Freyja just rolled her eyes at Kori, she didnt have the time to deal with her at the moment. She hugged her outfit and hovered to the dressing room to get it on. She really had to wiggle inside it and once she was comfortable she started the transformation process. She focused her magic on shortening and darkening her hair first until it was shoulder length glossy black. Her wings disappeared and her eyes darkened to a chocolate brown. In the mirror she looked perfectly human.

Luna's hand in his, they made their way to the main tent. There others were already there, and they seem to be having a discussion. "Why? What happened?" Alekin asked, hearing that Jake is still not here.

Samantha

Sam looked wearily at the small gathering of companions she had seemed to suddenly acquire. “Ignis, Alekin, Luna, have not any of you seen Jake as of late?” She blanched; what if he had been taken? Oh, drat!

The crowd was growing thicker, and it was only a matter of time before everyone would have to be at their places ready for performances to begin. Removing the top hat from her head, she ran a hand through her blond hair, as she always seemed to do when she was in thought.

“Someone needs to cover his position until he can be found.” If he’ll be found, she thought but dared not say. Her hazel eyes settled on Nora once more, “Where’s Freyja?” She asked, knowing Nora would most likely have an answer. The two seemed close friends, after all.

"Wish I had good news for you, but unfortunately I have not seen him since Munich." He frowned. Sensing the growing concern in the air. It was never a good sign when a performer disappeared like this. "He hasn't gone missing has he?"

((Pfft. I just realized that Iggy probably still has the goofy rabbit mask on. X3 tis a funny image when one is so very tired.))
