"Ladies and Gentleman, Girls and Boys!
Listen up, put down your toys.
For tonight, we have something very special in store,
with glitz and glamour galore!
With feats of strength, feats of grace,
acts that will have you laughing all over the place.
We invite you now to pull up a chair,
please, it's alright. Feel free to stare!
Join us!
Here, at Circus Nocturnas..."
The ringmaster's voice booms out over the crowd, a hush falling and hanging on his every word. A master showman, this one. He is a tall, broad man with strong shoulders and narrow hips. A rather well-kept mustache curls up on both sides, resting atop a smile of large, somewhat crooked teeth.
He is in traditional garb, consisting of a brilliant red coat and leather pants of a soft khaki color. Brass buttons keep the coat secured at his waist, and a whip hung coiled at his hip, and polished knee-high riding boots completed the aesthetic.
Each night, hundreds would flock just to see the circus, to have their few moments of escape from their mundane reality. To dream that they too could fly through the air, or perch precariously upon a high wire...

Everyone wants to run away and join the circus, at least once in their lives.
The circus is magical, a place of escape and fantastical adventure! Why wouldn't you want to run away with it?
But, what actually happens to those that do?
Available:
1/1 co-GM position
4/4 Players
-First and foremost, please respect all players involved. Characters don't have to like each other, but I do expect a respectful civility among players at the very least.
-The group will remain small, so if you are feeling able and willing to double up on characters, feel free to do so.
-I do require a single paragraph post minimum, though prefer longer and more detailed posts.
-I ask that you please follow post order. That being said, if you are unable to post within 48 hours of your last post, please let me or the co-GM(if there is one) know so that we can either temporarily control your character to move things along, or skip you. Disclaimer: Failure to let it be known will result in temporary removal from plots until your return, or possible character NPC-ification.
-While this is a Slice-o-Life style RP primarily, I do have some plot ideas to help stir things up, and encourage all of you to do the same. Feel free to approach me or the co-GM (if there is one) with these ideas!
-And, of course, all RPN rules apply.
Lionel Du'Champ sat across from you at his desk, long fingers steepled together as he regarded you with aged blue eyes. His demeanor was pleasant, charming, though reminiscent of a used car salesman. "So. You've decided to run away and join the circus, hm?" He asked lightly, as though amused by the idea of you joining his troupe. "What are you running from?"
You begin to protest, that there is nothing you are running from when he holds up a hand, silencing you with a knowing smile. "My dear, everybody is running from something..." There would be a bit of a pause as he then turned, opening a drawer of his cluttered desk. A sheet of parchment - Parchment? A bit archaic, no? - and laid it on the desk. He'd begin scrawling on a few blank lines while asking you some questions: Where were you from? What circus skills did you have? Family? Did you always want to join the circus?
Finally, he'd stop asking you things, reviewing the contract before turning it to face you. An ink pad would be placed beside you, as he offered his pen. "For you to read, if you want. Sign, and date. And, if you please, your thumbprint along the same line..."
Whether you read it or not, you signed, verifying the date before jotting it down. The thumbprint seemed harmless enough, though you could have sworn there was a pricking sensation as you pressed your thumb to the ink pad. Pressing it down, you left a smooth, dark red imprint of your body's signature. The contract would be collected, a grin forming beneath the Ring Master's mustache. "Welcome to the family..."

Circus Nocturnas is as old as anyone can remember, having been around since the birth of modern circus. It had remained in the shadows for years, as monoliths such as Barnum and Bailey took the world by storm, but it has always been there, remembered by anyone who'd chanced to see a show, even if only as a passing dream.
It has since risen in popularity, gaining a name for itself as other circuses fall around them, always appearing rather mysteriously one morning, remaining a few short days, and then venturing onward again, disappearing in less than a night.
Once, this particular circus boasted a family of performers that had roots dating back to Nocturnas' first days in the circuit. However, things have changed recently, and the Circus has sought the need for new performers over the years. Only one or two of the original performing families remain.
This is a modern world, much like our own. However, among us there exist fantastical creatures and people of magical descent. They are rare, but they do exist.
In fact, the largest collection tends to be found in places like Circus Nocturnas. How else could they create such incredible shows?
