Fantasy Changing Room ( A gamble into an Experimental RP )(Entries closed for now)

Tardy Grade

The Page Turner
Hey there. Thanks for taking the time to peruse this RP idea (WIP).

I repeat, this isn't a post to announce it's immediate creation but the fact it is in the works and to gauge interest in it before going further into it.

That said ... let's get to the matter at hand.

- 18+
- Dark theme
- I'll vet you to see if you post regularly or announce your absences before hand. It's rather standard.
- No infighting. Discussions to be respectful of each other or I will remove you from the RP (to be)

This RP will most likely commence in a closed off environment with a select number of individuals. Sealed-off basement, Catacombs, condemned subway, etc. with enough rations to last you all a good while.

You all have your mental faculties intact and know everything that's happened to you up until the moment where you were abducted and brought here. You do not know why you're 'here' or have any clue why you in particular were chosen.

The only things you gather from the scenario is what's in front of you and how you choose to proceed.

Oh. One other thing.

You've changed.

Ever so slightly but you all notice it. Thickening skin. Improved eyesight. Sharper nails. The list goes on. But you don't know where it'll all stop.

I will prepare a list for you to choose from and even prepare a questionnaire for my own 'perusal'.

You character will undergo changes periodically with scope for unexpected changes based on action and behavior.

You'll not be made aware of you final situation until it occurs. Bear that in mind.

Eg.
Stage 1 : Hair sensitive to temperature.
Stage 2 : ???
...
Stage 20 : ???
and like that.

You'll roleplay how you would react and work with what you're becoming meaning that aside from your initial character making changes will occur. Your character will evolve while you will adapt.

I'll add and explain a bit more if you're interested but bear in mind this is a WIP. I'm up for discussions and will even make a group chat for those who would like to input ideas for this.

where not going to change into the same thing right?

No of course not pal. Where's the fun in that? I'll provide some innocuous seeming mutations and have you answer a questionnaire of sorts to determine what you'll be 'progressing' towards. Though that may change based on your actions.

I'll keep you posted if you remain interested.

So depending on my answers, i could endup as flying humanoid slug creature OR a furry turtle capable of breathing acidic fire

what exactly inspired this thing

So I was on the RPN Discord server and my weird mind suddenly started thinking about how standard the human-to-monster trope had become. Vampires, Werewolves, etc.

Then I started thinking about character development in RPGs.

How people build towards a fixed goal and ultimately become a specialist type through skill trees. These you can choose and completely control.

But what about the effects of using these skills on your body? What about the changes that help you perform them? Why does your character model stay unaffected? Where's the increased muscle mass? Improvement in photo receptors or change in eye structure?

So and so forth until I started forming a more solid idea.

What if you were in some unknown place where you were changing slowly but surely within your own lifespan?
Trying to figure out your situation as well as escape? Find a cure? Come to terms? Give up hope? Abuse your power? What do you do when your humanity wastes away before your very eyes?

Other than that I've always been interested in Metamorphosis. A novella by Kafka.

Hope that helps? My minds very 'jump-on-to-ideas-as-soon-as-they-appear'. X'D

Cool, though i presume that unlike in Metamorphosis, we won't become giant helpless insects

Your development is an unknown but It's a dark role play and there will be pitfalls for your characters development. But bear in mind. No one would go through all this effort to simply doom you. If that was the case they could have changed you completely or sedated you until it happened naturally.

Clearly something else is in the works.

Though I would like to see the change in mindset in your character like described by Kafka. How he amazingly captured the mindset moving from 'daily life troubles and hassles' to that of ... Well you've read it so you know X'D

No, I haven't read, but i did watch an adaptation of it

Well I would highly recommend the read. Only an afternoon long at my speed.

Aside from that, watching the Fly would be a good choice to get in the mindset. You have the strengths but at some point you'll know the full cost of it all.

Yeah maybe, or I'll listen to an audiobook of it. Because for some reason I don't have the attention span to read books, yet I'm able to read a long post on here.

But anyway, when you're talking about the Fly, I assume the John Carpenter remake and not the original, due the more drastic transformation sequence found in Carpenters version
