『 B L A N K 』

You selected the third option, and took a step back. Somehow, despite your blurred memories, you remember something about this protocol - and that was that your P.E.T. was about to change its form, just like your P.E.W. customized itself earlier.

The interface, along with T.A.R.A, suddenly became a blank screen. The gadget suddenly became a rectangular black cube, which started to emit strange mechanical sounds such as whirring and beeping. After a short while, there it was, in a brand new form.

It became a smartphone. Because obviously, the government would not want to share its secrets with the outside world. You look at it, a phone of the Sony Xperia Z9 model, with enough storage capacity to keep all the world's most dangerous and crucial secrets. You grabbed it and held it with your left hand.

Not a second after, T.A.R.A. was back. "Transmission received."

"Open it.", you say.

The screen turns blank again. J.O.E., just like the government, is a confidentiality addict. T.A.R.A. begins to read what it says for you.

"Sender: J.O.E.", she says. "Date received: May 6th. Year 2041."

"Reading content.", she pauses for a second then continues. "Hello, Executor
BLANK. I am the Judge of Execution, or simply, J.O.E. I'm sure you've finished your preparatory protocols by now. I'll keep it short. Your orders are to assassinate Philip Terell - a former general who turned rogue. He plans to bring the U.S. Government down to ashes, and we cannot afford that. According to our intel, he can be found at an abandoned chocolate factory in San Diego. Your P.E.T. AI will have the actual coordinates. Good luck."

The screen returns, and T.A.R.A. speaks once more.

"Mission briefing finished. Are you ready to initiate Executor Operation No. 007-1893401, User
BLANK?", she asks.

[1] Yes.

[2] No, not yet. Let me take a look around for a bit.

[2] Take a look around, ask T.A.R.A about your one single bullet before you get going.

"Understood, user BLANK.", T.A.R.A says. "I will await command." The screen turns off, but not the sensors. As soon as you decide to go, T.A.R.A. will guide you to the location, and begin to record the mission and its outcome.

You place the phone in your pocket. You scan your surroundings, trying to see if there is anything else in this clean, wide room. Other than the dummy with the ruined head, and the steel table beside you of course.

Luckily, it is not as empty as you expected it to be.

There are two windows on the right wall. One of them is opened, and the other is closed and marked with electrical tape in the shape of an X. Something small could be seen lodged within the crossed tape. To the far north, a few steps away from the dummy, is a medium sized gift box, with a very girlish design and a ribbon on top of it. A small postcard is attached to the ribbon.

Behind you, of course, is the door. Except that its doorknob is wrecked and there seems to be no alternate way in opening it in a civilized manner. Unless you plan to kick it like in those action movies. A few steps beyond the table is an opened door. It leads to the bathroom. There's a cup near the sink there, containing a brush, a small satchel of toothpaste, and some burnt microchip.

The bathroom is freaking tidy, just like the entire room itself. Some clean freak must have occupied this place before you came in.

So, that's that. You stand there, pondering what to do. Why? Because after taking a long good look, you feel a slight sense of familiarity with this place.

[1] Investigate the windows.

[2] Take the gift box.

[3] Check the door.

[4] Go to the bathroom.

[2] Take the gift box.

Whoever placed it there might be upset if we don't take a look.

You go to the dummy, and approach the medium-sized gift box. You bend down to reach it, and lift it gently. It seems to be slightly heavy. You hold it carefully, assuming that what it contains could be easily broken. You return to your former location eventually and place it on the table.

The first thing you do is take the small postcard. Once you open it, a holographic message is shown.

Someone told me you'd need this. Again. Don't worry, it's free. Think of it as both a congratulatory and thanksgiving gift.

See you soon, Executor
BLANK.

- The Augmentor

Again? What does this guy mean? And how does The Augmentor know your codename already, when you have not even met him? You ask yourself. But all that is overwhelmed by your curiosity in the content of the gift box. What could it be that you need it again, as The Augmentor says? You hurriedly remove the ribbon and open it.

Inside it, is a mask. It looks much like a motorcycle helmet, but the glass covers more space. It looks like Iron Man's helmet in those old movies, with the face as a one-way mirror. You feel some kind of unexpected happiness. You wear it immediately. Now, you look like a bad-ass guy from that old movie Tron. The only thing you lack were gloves.

Well, what do you know. There are black gloves in the box as well. You wear it without hesitation.

"Are you going motorbiking now, User
BLANK?", T.A.R.A. says out of the blue.

"Shut up.", you say.

"As you command. Awaiting for further instructions.", T.A.R.A. continues.

You head to the bathroom, with one thing in your mind. And that is to explore your current location and if possible, gain any more benefits from such. Truly, only a skilled person like an Executor would have that kind of thinking. Others would simply pay no mind, and head off to their mission.

As you enter the bathroom, you see there is not much to see. The shower and the toilet is functional and clean, and you were pretty sure nothing could be found there. Near the sink facing the opened door was a cup containing some objects. You approach the sink, heading for the cup, with high hopes.

What you saw did not let you down. In the cup was a used brush, a small satchel of toothpaste, and a microchip burnt to a crisp. This immediately intrigued you, and so, you tried to get a closer look at it. As you do, you notice a few things.

The charred smell still lingered, although it was already dispersing. The smell seeped through the small holes of your helmet, but quickly dissipated as if it filtered its own air intake. How efficient would that be - if your helmet acted as a gas mask as well. The chip was burnt earlier, but the only one around here was you. How interesting.

You try to place a finger to it, and try to examine it. The chip discharges a small amount of shock, which is fortunately absorbed by the gloves you wore. This would confirm that it was, in fact, burnt just a few moments ago. There was nothing left to see, so you put the cup back in its place.

However, when you did, you had a glimpse of something strange at the sink. There were stains of blood. Some were not yet washed out. You immediately examined, only to find out that most were already dried out. Someone injured must have been here days ago.

Your head begins to ache. You place your right hand atop the right section of your nape. You begin to envision a blurry memory.

A man, whose face could not be identified, has his neck injured with a small cut. He covered this with a blood-stained cloth which he held with his right hand. He looked onto the mirror above the sink. His eyes gazed into the reflection, but you felt as if he was looking at you. He holds up a small microchip, drenched in blood, probably his.

"You are free. Remember. You are in control. Never forget that.", he says before burning the said chip with a disposable lighter.

It quickly fades away. What in the world just happened? You were confused. Greatly.

Luckily, T.A.R.A. did not cease to remind you. "User BLANK.", she says. "Executor Operation No. 007-1893401 is ready for initialization."

Your mind suddenly gets back to what's important.

[1] Investigate the windows.

[2] Check the door.

[3] Initiate Executor Operation No. 007-1893401.

[1] I'm curious by nature - it's not like we would have a mission or something...
