Visage: Precious few quality, recent photos can be found of the boy named Jace Rose. Of course there is the picture on his student ID, but beyond that only his parents possess the few that remain. Positioned strategically within the Rose family's residence or jealously preserved in digital form. He has a bit of a running joke with himself that his face cannot be caught on camera. He always jukes out of the way whenever he notices a camera lens pointed his way, only sitting still for important photos. Preserved upon those special few pictures is a young man with a tall and lithe build. Eternally slender due to a ravenous metabolism. He's reasonably athletic due to his energetic tendencies, but he doesn't actively play any sports so he doesn't have that conditioned athlete's physique. His skin is pale while his eyes are a piercing, icy blue. The wavy hair atop his head is a golden blonde, kept short and parted with bangs that fall just to eye level. It's almost always just slightly messy, sometimes intentionally so, with errant strands often left out of place. Jace thinks it looks better that way, and he just can't be bothered to fuss with his disobedient hair every three seconds.

Jace's wardrobe varies from day to day, depending on both his fancies and his motivation. He owns a decently sizeable wardrobe of fancy, formal clothing, contrasted by an even more sizeable collection of much less formal attire. Most of the latter being geeky t-shirts and hoodies. On most days he prefers to mix and mash between the two, usually leaning more formal as he likes to dress up. His go to outfit is a blazer over a button up shirt paired with jeans. The colors vary but he tries to wear hues that go well together, with a particular lean towards darker colors. Aside from that he almost always wears his pair of expensive, black tennis shoes with just about everything. He doesn't like wearing dress shoes unless it's a really formal occasion, they're uncomfortable.

Personality: Jace has never met a stranger, as his mother is fond of saying. He has barely a shy bone in his body and is typically friendly to just about everyone he comes across. He enjoys interacting with people. From meeting new faces, to hanging out with friends, to playing games, to getting up to mischief, to whatever else manages to occupy his mind while others are around. Sometimes he does the talking, sometimes he does the listening. Sometimes he doesn't even care about the words and something else has his interest. That's usually what guides his actions, his interests. Jace is a boy with an often fickle yet simultaneously one-track mind. Once something (or someone) catches his fancy he can become almost obsessed with it, only for something else to take its place later. It's not unusual for him to court a handful of interests on a day to day basis, bouncing back and forth across a varied spectrum of hobbies and subjects.

While Jace's thoughts can switch gears quickly when something steals his attention, he also doesn't like to be forced to shift his focus to things that he isn't already thinking about. School, for example. Almost all of Jace's teachers have expressed frustration with the boy. When he applies himself his work is outstanding. He aces his assignments, contributes to class discussion, and has a tendency to finish homework before class is even out for the day. However this is a relatively rare occurrence. The majority of the time Jace barely participates, his assignments often arriving late or even not at all. He's a very quick learner with a long memory, but he also has a terrible habit of procrastinating when responsibilities intrude on whatever has his attention at the time. The only thing keeping his grades afloat is his test scores. Tests are ironically the one part of school that Jace consistently enjoys. The timed, stressful, almost game-like environment draws out the competitive problem solver in him.

Jace is quite proud of his talents. The tests, in addition to just being fun, serve almost as a sort of validation for that pride. That despite his grades he's still smart and can pull an ace out of his sleeve when he wants to. However that confidence in his intellect often only acts to further enable his procrastination, encouraged by times in the past when he'd completed a seemingly tough assignment at the last minute. When he finally sits down to address his work and repeat his past successes, he finds himself totally in over his head as a result, swamped by otherwise easy work that he couldn't possibly finish in the time he'd given himself. It's events like that which have recently started to challenge that image of himself. From simple assignments turned into massive problems by his own inaction, to failures in things he hasn't yet learned to be good at, to even little mistakes when he gets careless, they all add up to a faintly simmering insecurity in the back of his mind. What if he isn't as smart or talented as he thinks he is? As others have told him he is? What if they're all wrong, and he's just another average joe with delusions of exceptionalism?

Biography: Jace was not born in the disunited cities split by the river Unity. He's lived most of his life elsewhere, an hour or two's drive from an air force base, brought up far from the ancient feuds of Montague and Capu-... that is Ambridge and Auburn. His parents were both self-made successes from poor families, his mother an engineer and his father a fighter pilot. By the time he was born they had both gotten their masters degrees, his mother soon securing a high paying job while his father achieved a prestigious (if secretive) position. This had always been a point of pride for Jace growing up, and his parents' background influenced how they brought up their child, however it also meant that he was often left at home. What parenting they were able to do created a friendly, outgoing boy with a great many interests enabled by his privileged position. However he was also considerably spoiled, leading him to show early on a strong dislike for being forced to do things he didn't want to. Especially school.

Even as a young child he struggled with his education despite demonstrating time and again his ability to do well. The busy nature of his parents' work made it difficult for them to combat this, and their parental tendency to spoil their child lead him to becoming somewhat selfish. He didn't always get what he wanted, but it was hard to stop Jace when he put his mind to something, and through patience or negotiation he often eventually got his way.

As Jace slowly matured into a teenager, arguably a little slower than most when it came to maturity, his parents began to trust him more and more on his own. Instead of hiring babysitters to watch him while they were out they decided to let Jace take care of the house on his own. They wanted him to be ready to live on his own one day after all, and they knew a hormonal teenager like him would jump at the opportunity to have some true alone time away from his parents. It worked like a charm, mostly. Being left to his own devices further reinforced an already independent, individualistic attitude that had been taking root in the young man. Although he certainly didn't mind when his parents returned and he was able to leave all the inconvenient responsibilities to them again.

It was around then as well that his father retired from the military. With much more free time on his hands and a mind as active as his son's, Jace's father began focusing attention into all sorts of things. One of which was investing. An opportune investment into an up and coming tech company would prove more than worthwhile a couple years later, when its returns brought in more money than Jace's father had earned while working. At the same time his mother was continuing to work her way up the tech industry food chain and was bringing in a significant income of her own. Not to mention the job allowed her to work from home.

For years Jace's parents had idly brought up the idea of moving. A bigger house, a better neighborhood, a better school to challenge their procrastinating son. It had never seemed like a realistic option, given his dad's station in the area and the cost of all the places they looked at. Now, however, that possibility was suddenly within reach. The time came midway through Jace's junior year of high school. They knew it would be an inconvenient time for their son, as he'd be torn away from his hometown and friends in the middle of a semester, but that was how the schedule lined up.

True to his nature, Jace was frustrated by the ill timed change. His whole life was interrupted by the move. All his plans, all his relationships, torn away in a couple weeks of packing and a long drive across the country. He had to say goodbye to his friends, to his his favorite places, to that one really cute blonde in history class. The one he'd been thinking about asking out... Jace had a long time to think on the way to his new home though. Sure he was still sore about having to leave his old life behind, but he couldn't deny the appeal of a new one. A new city, a new school, full of new faces. He liked his old house but the pictures he'd seen of the new one were awesome. Now he couldn't say the same about his old school, the place was a ruddy-brown-brick hell of boredom and responsibility, but he was admittedly a little excited about the new one.

Auburn Springs High.

The way it was described to him sounded kind of intriguing, honestly. A preppy, high standards school in a rich city. Like those clean, high class schools in the TV shows. Always filled with aggressive jocks and gorgeous (albeit psychotic) cheerleaders. Way more interesting than his old school. Honestly he kind of doubted it was going to live up to his expectations, nothing ever did, but he was curious about it anyways.

Oh, and wasn't there that other rival school across the river? Something about a fire or a refugee crisis or something. He wasn't really listening when it came up, his brain drifting off into an impromptu recollection of that one time his class read out lines from Romeo and Juliet in English...

Name: Michelangelo Gomez

Gender: Gender Queer (She/They)

Age: 18, Senior

Sexuality: Pansexual

City: Auburn Springs

Personality: Michelangelo is a patient and overall chill person. They are friendly with most people and don’t shy away from large groups. People are usually drawn to her bubbly outlook on life as well as her artistic talents. If she’s not around people, she can usually be found in their green house, painting her plants or softly humming to them.

However, they’re not always sunshine and rainbows. They’re quick to snap if someone is rude for no reason and doesn’t have time for such individuals. If she doesn’t like someone she’s not shy about it, and this has caused a lot of turmoil in her past.

Biography: Michelangelo seemed to be born with a smile on their face, growing up in a large household it seemed to be what people remembered most about them. She worked hard and made friends easily, gaining popularity quickly when she moved her freshman year.

Now a senior, they looked forward to their last year in highschool, hoping for some normalcy among an otherwise busy time. That was when she heard about the fire.

Still, they couldn’t help but wonder, was the rival school really that bad?
