Will Harris

Will walked a little ahead of the group, out of earshot. He eyed the snow falling around him and frowned, reminded of the situation they were in. One that he put them in. He thought of the food they had leftover, but knew that no matter how equally he and Maverick tried to divide everything, it wouldn't be enough for everyone. He had doubts that it would be enough for even half of them. None of the traps they set overnight had been able to catch much of anything since before the snow started. He stabbed a hand through his hair, his fingers coming back covered in ice water. He could barely feel them. He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked left at a store as he walked by. He couldn't even tell what it was before... everything.

The sign at the top was missing most of its letters, and only 'T' and 'S' were left. The windows had all been broken in, and whatever the store sold was long gone, or buried under piles of snow. His frown deepened, and he turned back to Maverick. "We should stop," he gestured to the stores lining the sidewalks, lowering his voice. "Split up and loot. See if anyone finds anything. What do you think?" He knew it was dangerous, as any one of the stores could be hiding one of the undead, but he had been thinking about their lack of food for a while and couldn't come up with an easier solution.

Cole Bishop

Cole shivered violently, tugging his jacket tighter around himself. Damn it was cold. His teeth were chattering, and his boots were at least eighty percent snow. He'd already shaken them out at least twice, but the cold didn't care that he liked not having frostbite. He would kill for something hot to drink. He was desperate enough that it didn't even have to be hot chocolate. He didn't like coffee, but if he was presented with an extra large cup of the stuff he wouldn't hesitate to guzzle it down. His jacket wasn't doing much to protect him, or at least it didn't feel like much. He wondered if anyone would mind if he asked for their jacket, or to trade shoes. He was tempted to try asking, but he couldn't be sure who would take it the wrong way and who would take it as a joke.

Someone his age should have a sense of humor, right? He would hope so, or the post-apocalyptic word was more doomed than it already was. He glanced over his choices. Three girls and a guy. Marie-Ann or something, Liam whatever-his-last-name-was, that other one with a long name, and Allegra... Sausage? No, that didn't sound right. He glanced between the four of them for a few seconds before he tromped over to Allegra. He was sure he knew her first name, at least. "Allegra, right? So, who do you think's gonna go first?" Better to test the waters first, and if she stuck around long enough to answer he'd see about her jacket.

Allegra Sauvagess

Allegra was surprised, but mostly content with the sudden intrusion. When left alone, her thoughts would waver back to memories of her original group, and she still wasn't fully okay with their loss. So she'd accept anything that would take her mind off of that.
"Allegra, right? So, who do you think is gonna go first?" A boy she hadn't really talked to that much asked her, looking at her eyes then down to her parka for just a second, before diverting his eyes towards the ground to mask his intentions.
Cole's question made her ponder a bit. She hadn't really thought about it at all - just attributed a single algorithm to everyone there.
"Uh..." Allegra started. The moment she opened her mouth a big puff of cold air escaped from her lips, drifting into the white nothingness like ghosts. "Me? Probably? You - I mean, I don't know, I think everyone here has the same chance of surviving."
Cole was silent for a bit. Allegra turned around to look back at the two girls behind them. She glanced over to Colette, examining the amount of weapons she was bringing with her.
"Actually, I think she's gonna die first." Allegra corrected her previous statement.

Abigail
{ x }
Abigail trailed along near the back of the group, her teeth chattering violently. She hadn't eaten anything that could sustain a human for long in at least three days, and she was constantly cold. Even at night, when they stopped and did their best to light a fire- huddled close to one another for warmth- she was cold. The chill permeated her bones; it shook her to her very core. Her legs ached for sweet, sweet release. Just a moment to pause- though she knew that if she sat down she wouldn't be standing again any time soon.
She couldn't feel her toes or her fingers. Really- her entire hands and feet were both numb. Her fingertips felt as if they would need to be pried from the grip of the old wooden baseball bat that she carried. Every so often her vision would blur, and small spasms shook her fingers. She did her best to conceal them, but knew that she had to find a pharmacy. Very soon. She had so far managed to hide her condition, but it was deteriorating quickly. She was certainly one of the older ones of the group, as the only one whom surpassed her in age was Will. She hadn't spoken to him much, though. Abigail was certain that if someone- especially the leader of their little parade of wounded warriors- found out about her condition, she'd be thrown out in an instant. Baggage. That was what she was, and she knew it. She wasn't fast or particularly good at anything besides- well, living. She had yet to have been bitten, (knock on wood), which seemed to be a rarity these days.
As she approached the two near the front- Maverick and William- she slowed her pace a bit, glancing to the store in reference. She never tended to keep in one place in the group- swaying from area to area. Wherever she felt that she had the highest rate of survival in the case of an ambush, really. Her eyes went into one of their brief blurring spells as she stared up at the 't' and 's' left hanging above the storefront. She swayed a bit on her feet, trying to come up with what store could have had those letters in its name- and in that order. Nothing came up. Frowning a bit, Abigail took a step closer to the shopfront's window- or at least where it used to be- and peered in.

Nikita Vissarionovich

Nikita was surprisingly not doing as badly as the others. The jacket he found for himself was too big for him which helped in covering up as much of him as possible. He still was cold but was not freezing with his teeth chattering about like some people. He himself did not really need to eat much to stay full. Most likely due to his body needing less energy to function compared to the others. But the lack of food still worried him though. When they arrived at the settlement, Nikita looked over to the buildings that they had just come across and a frown found a way to his face. It was in a completely demolished state with it looking like it did not have a single gram of food left in it. He then listened to the proposition of Will Harris who seemed to be the leader of the group at the point in time. He then let out a breath, that turned into condensed water vapour, or steam, before letting him know what he thought.

"Stop and do what? The only reason we are not freezing to death is because we are moving. And by the looks of it, doesn't seem like there is much more than infected bodies and contaminated food that awaits us here."

He understood that the people in the group needed a break from the walking but stopping here was a death sentence. Not only did stopping give the frost a chance to do real damage, but by staying here the undead could attack and kill them much more easily. The frost did slow them down but there is nothing that will save you from a surprise attack. He had never gotten a bite before, and he was not about to risk turning into one of the infected in this cold wasteland.

Nikita worried about a different problem than the rest of the group. While they were worried about the food, the weather and their families, Nikita worried about the more specific supplies they had. Firstly, he did not have any nails or anything along the lines of it which allows him to repair anything. But more importantly, the group was running dangerously low on medical supplies. The different pills and the alcohol he had brought with himself when coming into this group was all they had. And it, like all supplies, as time went by and people got more injuries, started to dwindle down fast.

Maverick Castle
Slightly tugging on the bandana around his neck, Maverick grew colder with each step. The wind chilled the tips of his ears and small flakes of snow covered his eyelashes and hair. Will and Maverick had been leading the group from the front for quite a while now, the snow making the group slower by quite a stretch. With each step, he trudged along; he had to unbury his feet from underneath all the snow. Maverick looked back to see the randomly congregated group that he belonged to not far behind. He saw Cole start speaking to Allegra. He only heard pieces of what they were saying, something about survival rates of everyone. Maverick himself felt he had a better chance than most. Maverick looked down at his feet, feeling a moment of guilt of his previous encounter with the group. He shook away the thought and looked back again. Most of the group walked forward with their arms crossed, rubbing up and down their shoulders trying to find warmth in friction. All eyes looked forward when Will spoke up. "We should stop," he gestured to the stores lining the sidewalks, his voice lowered as he spoke. Mav looked around, his eyes scanning the area. "Split up and loot. See if anyone finds anything. What do you think?" Will asked directly. They were nearly at eye level.

"This place is a dump," Maverick stated bluntly, clenching his jaw as he spoke. "It doesn't look like much to work with." Maverick racked his brain as he looked at the sign. The sign at the top was missing most of its letters, and only 'T' and 'S' were left. Best Buy? Nothing like a bunch of zombie customer service nerds.

"Stop and do what? The only reason we are not freezing to death is because we are moving. And by the looks of it, doesn't seem like there is much more than infected bodies and contaminated food that that awaits us here." Nikita butted in. Maverick eyed him up and down. He seemed to be faring well... better than the group. He looked back to the others who looked as healthy as the Z's did. Maverick's stomach grumbled and sounded like a bear. He envisioned opening the can of beans in his backpack but he knew better. Will would kick his ass for being so selfish. Or would try to...

Maverick closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the cold burning his nostrils. He tapped the gun on his thigh and chewed on his lip. He drew his brows together/wrinkled his forehead whenever a problem troubled him. Maverick opened his eyes and cleared his throat. "Yeah, but can you think of any better options?" he said as he took a step towards Nikita, towering over him. "I don't know about you but look at everyone else, look at Abigail. She looks like she's going to pass out." He looked back at Will. "It's our best shot, and at least the shelter will block the wind. We need to scrounge up what we can because a can of beans will barely hold us tonight." Some might not even get anything either...

Cole Bishop

Cole stared at her, his eyes flat. Technically, she'd done more than he expected her too, or maybe he just had low expectations, but her answer was a little boring. If he wanted to talk about a fantasy world where everyone actually did have an equal chance of staying alive, he would've asked. His eyes drifted past her, to Liam. Would he have a better answer, or should he just take what he could get and stay with Allegra? Hm. He stuffed his hands under his armpits to keep warm, shivering again. Then again her parka did look really comfortable. Her next answer got his attention, and he blinked at her, before following her gaze to the girl. He squinted at her through the snow on his eyelashes. Didn't she also have Marie somewhere in her name? Or was he confusing them? He looked at Allegra again. Maybe he'd judged her too soon.

"Her?" He snuck another look at the girl. "I would have picked someone shorter, personally. But why her?"

Francesca Illiani

Frankie took up a place somewhere in the middle of the group - mostly everyone in the group knew she hated using her gun, so placing her in the middle was pretty much her best bet for survival if they were suddenly attacked in the snow by any zombies walking around. She rubbed her hands together; even though she was wearing fingerless gloves and had a decent jacket on, she was still chilled, though obviously not so much as the rest of the group. She made sure to wear layers, even when it wasn't snowing out, it was just one of her ways to avoid being bitten. Even if she wasn't super frozen like everyone else, she had another problem, and that was the fact she was exhausted. She had a hard time sleeping at night, and was barely able to lay down or get comfortable if they even found a place to crash during the night.

She rubbed her eyes with icy fingers and yawned before blowing on her hands again, trying to remember when the last time she caught a full night's rest. There was one upside to the tiredness, and that was the fact she could ignore her hunger, or maybe that's what was causing her exhaustion? Frankie really couldn't tell, but was thankful nonetheless

I'd love to get out of the snow and wind.... I'd give a fortune to be laying in a warm bed, she thought to herself

She listened to all the conversations floating around. Some people wanted to check the old store, that might not even be a store. Some people were simply chatting. Some people simply wanted to keep trudging along through the snow, which was, personally, her least favorable option. She wasn't much for talking to everyone else, but she decided to gently pitch to Cole and Allegra's conversation, "You guys starting a tontine? Whoever survives longest gets my jacket, if I'm not the winner anyways."

"Yeah, but can you think of any better options? I don't know about you but look at everyone else, look at Abigail. She looks like she's going to pass out." Nikita looked back at her to better understand his point. Her teeth were chattering loudly, she was shaking and her skin was as white as the snow itself. But he knew that stopping right now would kill her in a matter of minutes. The only way for them to survive here would be to build a fire inside a well closed off shelter. But that did not seem to be too easy since there was no shelter in sight that was that secure. And with this blizzard blowing, it would be an even harder task to set up a fire that won't be put out by it. "It's our best shot, and at least the shelter will block the wind. We need to scrounge up what we can because a can of beans will barely hold us tonight."

"In this moment, the frost is a bigger enemy than the infected. And reducing movement in a weather this cold is as dangerous as walking into a room full of the infected without a weapon."
He understood at that point that he was not going to convince anybody. They all got worse during the trip here so it would make some sense to stop and rest. He immediately accepted defeat in terms of arguing for continuing to move and tried to get on the same page as the two leaders. He let out a sigh before continuing.
"
Our priority should be to find a shelter that is decently closed off so as to not let too much of the blizzard in. After that, we could build a fire, scavenge or do anything you have in mind."

Allegra Sauvagess
Allegra went quiet for a bit. She didn't really know how to answer that question. She just... looked like she wasn't going to be there with them for long.
As she attempted to formulate her answer, closing her eyes and letting the snowflakes resting on her eyelashes fall, another person barged into their convo and asked if they were starting a "tontine". Whatever that was. "Whoever survives longest gets my jacket, if I'm not the winner anyways." She continued, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Oh no, I'm good. Parka's okay for me." Allegra answered the girl. Or was it actually a boy? She couldn't really tell or remember... their name. Ally then looked around her quickly, taking note of the physical situation of everyone there. "Seems like these guys would love to have your jacket though." She then observed, paying close attention to Abigail shivering. Allegra snapped her head back to Francine, eyeing her jacket suspiciously. "Does that thing even do anything to warm you up?"
As Ally waited for an answer, she unconsciously wavered over to the sidewalk, where the snow was the thickest. She was surprised her running shoes were lasting this long, considering what it already has been through. She observed the abandoned stores Maverick was considering checking for supplies. Allegra took a glance at the store. "Yeah, there's - nothing's gonna be there." She thought to herself. She then looked around the store, to see if anywhere else was in a better state than... whatever it was before the infection.
That's when she noticed some graffiti on an alley wall not far from where they were. A crudely drawn house with a cross inside. Her eyes went wide when she remembered what that meant.
Ally ran towards it, completely forgetting about the rest of the group. That drawing was going to save their lives.

So much for not being overheard. He didn't immediately answer Nikita, glancing at another abandoned store, and then to a suspicious lump of snow off to the side, searching for any signs of movement. It might have just been paranoia, but he'd rather be overly careful than risk anyone else getting hurt because he overlooked something. When he finally turned back to address Nikita, Maverick had already handled it. "We'll never know if we don't try," he added, pausing at what he said next. He glanced at Abigail, thinking about what Maverick said about her. He released a long breath and leveled his gaze with Nikita's. "Even if we find someplace safe nearby, most, if not all of us will have to come back out to look for supplies. We'll all be freezing anyway. It's better to take a look around while we're here, in case we can't come back."

That was part of it, but not the whole reason why Will didn't want to stop. It was why they were even out in the blizzard, instead of trying to hunker down somewhere and wait until the storm was better before going out. Pax. He wanted to push on another mile, to be even a little closer to their destination. And he ragged on Maverick for being selfish? The guilt of it was going to eat him alive. Will shook himself out of his thoughts, facing the rest of the group. He waved his arms above his head, signaling those who might not have been paying attention. "Alright, listen up! We're stopping here for now and splitting up into groups of two to search for supplies," He raised his voice so that those in the back could hear him over the wind roaring around them. "Nikita, you're with Vanessa. I want you to search that store," he pointed left, at a clothing store. He could still see a few abandoned mannequin heads peeking out under the snow. He fully expected Nikita to keep arguing with him, but he and Maverick already made a decision. And he wouldn't go back on it unless Maverick came up with a better solution.

"Frankie, Abigail, over there," he looked at a former fast food restaurant a little ahead of them. It might have been a McDonald's once, but he couldn't be sure since whoever looted it before them made sure to trash the place. "And watch out for undead hidden in the snow. Liam, Coll," he pointed to a bookstore to his right, the sign still mostly intact. "Anna-Marie, Cole, Allegra, you'll search there," he gestured to an electronics store on his left. "And Mav, you're with me. We'll take a look at the 'TS' store over there," he stopped when Allegra suddenly ran off. He thought of yelling after her for going off on her own, but then thought better of it. Instead he looked at the two she had been talking to for answers.

Cole Bishop

Cole absently stretched his toes in the silence that came after, trying to get the blood flowing again as more and more snow slowly filled his boot. He was in the middle of thinking of ways to get Allegra to willingly give up her Parka, maybe he could say that he had a condition where he needed to be warmer than everyone else or he'd faint and die, or try and convince her that parkas were made from an endangered species and she was an awful person for wearing it, but then again he didn't think anyone who was still alive cared much about endangered species' anymore, when someone else spoke up. He knew their name started with an F. Fran? Fred? Something like that. His eyes moved down to inspect her jacket, and he barely heard her as she spoke to them. It wasn't a parka, but it was better than the dirty jean jacket he somehow managed to keep intact since he found it almost a year ago.

He didn't know what a tontine was, but considering that he would have to outlive ten other people to get the jacket, he thought it would be easier to try and take it by force, as unlikely as that was. "I would love to have your jacket, if you're offering," he said after Allegra spoke, shrugging. He shivered again, unable to help it as the snow pelted his face. He took refuge by lifting his shirt up to cover his eyes and nose for a few seconds, breathing in the warm air. When he looked up again, Allegra was gone, and Will was giving him a look, like he'd done something to her while the entire group was looking. Cole glanced around, and spotted her much further ahead, running towards an alley. He blinked. Well, at least now he understood why she said herself when he asked her how would die first. He made a wild 'I don't know anything' gesture at Will, and looked around for the other girl he vaguely remembered him saying he was partnered with. He looked the way Allegra had gone, but whatever made her run off wasn't his problem. He made his way through the snow towards Anna-Marie, stopping beside her.

"We haven't even been attacked yet and we're already down a person," he shook his head, but he was smiling. He jerked his chin towards the electronics store, his hands firmly in his thin pockets. "I think you should go first, you know, just in case something comes at us from behind."

Ally jumped over the hood of an abandoned car as she made her way into the alleyway. Arriving at the mouth of the dimly lit and ominous alley, she hesitated for a bit. She began feeling a bit awkward about entering the place. Tight corridors, nowhere to really go in case things go south. It reminded her of the subway.

The raindrops fell graciously onto the dead streets, water mixing with blood, both old and new. It was a full moon that night, which casted a beautiful tint onto the city. If only it wasn't the end of the world.
"Rabids, watch it!" Naomi shouted from the top of a sedan as she pointed her rifle at the ravaged beings running towards her and her group. Their flesh was rotting away, revealing their muscles and insides. They possessed a crazed look in their eyes, one that belonged to a ferocious animal. In a way, they were ferocious animals. The nurse opened fire on the savages, the sound of bullets echoing throughout the empty street. Andrew jumped onto the same sedan, opening fire with his dual pistols at the group of rabids. Allegra had stayed behind with Tyche as they cleared their flanks. The boy reloaded his pump shotgun, unaware of his surroundings. "You know, I'm starting to get used to this life." Tyche stated with a smirk, which made Ally smile. Her smile immediately fell when she saw a rabid coming out from one of the abandoned buildings, running towards Tyche. She hastily pointed her submachine gun at it and lit the motherfucker up, killing it. It stumbled onto the delinquent as it died, scaring the living shit out of him. He looked in shock at the dead rabid and then glanced over at Ally. "Appreciated." He said.
"Tyche, move your sorry ass!" Andrew shouted aggressively, getting off of the car and walking forward, checking if the other savages were dead. Naomi followed suit, and glanced at their surroundings. Tyche, along with Ally, picked up their pace and kept close behind the two adults.
"So... What now?" Ally asked, seeing that the abandoned cars created a type of barricade on the road, impeding their passage. Naomi looked around, her eyes landing on the stairs that led to the subway. She had an idea.
"We take the subway. End up on the other side of the road and head to St. Francis that way." She said. Everyone agreed to the plan. They walked down the stairs, guns at the ready.

Allegra snapped out of her trance, blinking. She examined the alley again, as if it were the first time she saw it. Ally turned around and yelled at the others. "Hey guys! Safe room up ahead!" Obviously, her yelling didn't only attract the others. She heard moaning coming from behind her as the corpses that laid on the floor came to life - or something close to that. She snapped her head back at them, mentally cursing herself. As they got up and prepared to attack her, she grabbed her bat that rested on her back. Gripping the wood, she prepared to swing at them so hard it would be a home run.

Maverick Castle"We are continuing to move as we loot-" Maverick began to point out as Nikita continued to talk again."Our priority should be to find a shelter that is decently closed off so as to not let too much of the blizzard in. After that, we could build a fire, scavenge or do anything you have in mind." he added. Nikita seemed to have a point with getting shelter. "We might as well keep an eye out for supplies as we look for shelter. Night is falling and none of us are in the position of taking on Rabids." Maverick opened his mouth to add something but closed it feeling that arguing wouldn't reap any real benefits. Besides, it seemed that Nikita was reluctantly agreeing. "We'll never know if we don't try," Will joined in, pausing to look around at the group. "Even if we find someplace safe nearby, most, if not all of us will have to come back out to look for supplies. We'll all be freezing anyway. It's better to take a look around while we're here, in case we can't come back." There was a look on his face, one that Maverick recognized. He placed his hand firmly on Will's shoulder, giving him a nod of compassion. They both knew that they had pushed the group to keep going, it wasn't all on Will. He cleared his throat and removed his hand. Maverick pulled his hand to his face and rested it on his jaw and pulled in a downward motion to his chin, his stubble resisting the motion and pricking his callused fingers. Maverick sighed and combed his fingers through his cold hair into a tousled look. He really wanted this fucking blizzard to continue on to another area so the group could get going to Pax. He wondered about the good supplies he could find at Pax when Will spoke again.

"Alright, listen up! We're stopping here for now and splitting up into groups of two to search for supplies," Will raised his voice so that those in the back could hear him. If they didn't, someone else could fill them in from their group. Maverick sucked on his teeth. "Nikita, you're with Vanessa. I want you to search that store," Will pointed of to his side, at a clothing store. Maybe if there wasn't any food, they could at least bundle up... if there was anything. "Frankie, Abigail, over there," he looked at a former fast food restaurant a little ahead of them. Maverick's stomach grumbled at the thought of fast food before the darn apocalypse. Biting into a juicy hamburger and chewing the salty fries- Get ahold of yourself. Maverick chewed the inside of his cheek. Maybe it was McDonald's. He wasn't sure if that giant heap of trash near the building was the remains of the notorious arch or what was left of a destroyed car. He heard somewhere from before that McDoubles didn't decay... Although the thought of eating years old fast food was revolting, he was hungry enough. It also did spark his interest in the ingredients.

"And watch out for undead hidden in the snow. Liam, Coll," he pointed to a bookstore to his right, the sign still mostly intact. As Will said that, Maverick took a wary glance as his surroundings. The thought of trendy, hipster book nerds not biting into him because he wasn't soy warmed his insides. There was a smile smile creeping on his lips before it disappeared. "Anna-Marie, Cole, Allegra, you'll search there," he gestured to an electronics store on his left. "And Mav, you're with me. We'll take a look at the 'TS' store over there," he stopped when Allegra suddenly ran off. "Allegra!" he barked in a hushed whisper. She probably didn't hear him over the winds whipping through the air. He shook his head in disappointment. It's your fault if you die. Although it is also one less person to feed... Maverick looked away and sighed before facing Cole and Frankie. "Care to explain?" Maverick clenched his jaw and glared gesturing to the girl running off.

Nikita was not a big fan of being partitioned like this. But this entire prospect of looking for things in this pile of crap of a city was a terrible idea for him. So scavenging with some stranger was not too big of a deal. He then heard that Liam and Collette were assigned the book store. He was surprised and felt a little bit of anger. He loved books before the apocalypse began and had loads with himself. He would read all the time for fun and for his degree. It was most definitely one of the hobbies that he could still take after the apocalypse. The big problem was that he had pretty much lost all the books he had due to escaping his previous group and leaving them behind. He just prioritised the medicine over it.

He did not look back or say anything to Vanessa and walked next to Will. He watched as Allegra ran away alongside with him. He then asked him "Is it possible if I..."he looked at Vanessa and then back at Will before continuing "we...were to search the bookstore instead?" He had completely ignored what Allegra said about the safe house.

Abigail
{ x }
Coming out of her daze, Abigail blinked.
"I'm fine," she spoke in the general direction of whomever had mentioned her swaying.
She glanced towards Frankie, beginning to trudge towards the old restaurant. The faster the better- she didn't need more people realizing that she was in worse condition than the others. She doubted that there would be anything left in an old restaurant. Moldy buns, maybe. Ketchup? Blinking the frost from her lashes, Abigail reached out with one freezing hand to try and pull the front door open. It was blocked by too much snow, it seemed, and she glanced towards one of the many broken windows; stepping over and beginning to duck under the glass, gripping the handle of the bat tighter. Hopefully she wouldn't need to use it.

She had never gotten used to killing. There had been three- and that was enough for her. She didn't want to know more. God, how she'd kill for a cup of hot coffee. Cold, even. Anything to make her stomach stop rumbling with the life force of a whale's call. Her foot crunched over some broken glass as she stepped into the dimly lit McDonald's. It had lost its theme of creepy clowns and clogged arteries, and she didn't see any movement within. Turning back, her gaze scanned the street to see if Frankie had followed.

Will Harris

Will was distracted, staring in the direction Allegra ran off. It was almost impossible to see anything through the snow. He shouldn't be, but he was worried about her being by herself. His right hand twitched towards the crossbow on his back when he heard a yell, and thought he saw a flash of something through the white. She was the one who chose to run off on her own, and he couldn't be sure whether she had seen something or abruptly decided to leave the group, but still. He glanced at Nikita as he came up to him, but his mind was elsewhere.

"Yeah, sure," he didn't see why it mattered so much, but it didn't make much of a difference who searched what as long as it was done. "Just let Liam and Coll know." He nodded to Maverick, walking over to him. "I'm going after her," he said, glancing towards the alley again. "If I'm not back in five minutes..." He trailed off, frowning. He shook his head. "Just get them to Pax." He turned away and jogged after Allegra.

Allegra waited as the undead approached her. They stumbled and moaned. their mouths leaking the breath of death. Everything about them was rancid, but Ally had already gotten used to it. Somehow. She thought she'd never get used to it, frankly.
The girl swung the bat, hitting the first zombie in the head and essentially disintegrating it. She took in a deep breath as the others approached her, gripping the bat tighter.
This went on for a minute before she successfully wiped out the infected that were reanimated by her shouting. She looked back at Will, breathing a bit harder. "I really needed the exercise." She chuckled and rested her bat on her shoulder. "Anyways, uh... Safe house." She continued and pointed to the graffiti to her right. "Up ahead... Somewhere - you coming?"

Nikita Vissarionovich

Nikita had gotten slightly happier over hearing his answer. It might seem simple to anybody but for him it was quite a big deal. He went over the Liam and Collette to inform them of the change. "Me and Vanessa will be going to the bookstore instead. You guys can check out the clothes store." Throughout the entire process, he did not consult of ask Vanessa of what she thought once. He just figured that she would not care enough to stop him from doing so. Besides, the books store would be the place where nobody would scavenge from, making it the least dangerous in terms of people being in there. Nikita watched as Will ran after the girl before heading out himself. He trudged through the snow and went to the book store. The door was stuck.

Cronos Cronos Fizz Fizz

He quickly took out his crowbar and placed it into the wedges of the door and tried to open it. He tried to get the correct leverage for the most amount of force. After trying for a brief minute, the door finally budged and the store opened. The sight refreshed him. Almost all of the shelves were intact with only a few books being taken and some torn ones on the floor. A huge grin appeared on his face from the anticiaption of finding and reading those books. It would be impossible to choose from them so he would have to take as much as he could fit in his bag next to the medical supplies, the bottle of vodka, the tools and the bullets. The vodka bottle was unopened and he intended to use it for medical purposes instead of drinking it. That was why he did not let anybody else in the group know about it.

He walked in a little bit but was greeted with a sound of something falling over. His hand immediately went on the holster of his gun but he was reluctant to use it as the noise would attract more trouble than he or his group could deal with. He watched as the dead body of a librarian woman slowly shambled towards him. The cold made it very hard for it to move as the fluid in her joints must have frozen from standing still this whole time. He slowly walked back, knowing that one misstep would be the end of him. He then lead her closer to him and once she was in the correct position, he wedged his crowbar on the empty bookshelf she was next to and made it fall over her. He definitely heard more than a joints dislocating and a few bones ever shattering. The sight and the sounds reminded him why they should not stand still anywhere. He then slowly walked up to it and cave in it's skull with his crowbar. He then wiped off its bodily fluids from the crowbar using the clothes of the undead woman and then walked around to book case. He realised that the employee room would be the place where most of the useful things in this place would be as the workers and the people who were here would try to hole up in there. He slowly opened the door and peeked in. There was no light. He then took out his flashlight and turned it on. It had very low battery so it took Nikita a bit of effort to do so.

He saw a few dead bodies. But none of them had turned for some reason. He realised that these people must've killed themselves by stabbing their own brains or finding other ways to destroy each other's brains, leading to the infected woman at the main room of the book store to be the last one alive due to nobody being able to do her the favour. He sighed and then looked at all the things they had left in there. He was happy to find a few batteries which he could insert into his flashlight. He then found a half empty package of instant coffee strips which also had a few bags of green tea which he pocketed. Other than that he saw a few mugs, a teapot and some opened up wrappers of snacks like chips and chocolate bars. After looking a bit himself, he found 3 chocolate bars and a bag of chips in the cupboards. He also found quite a long, blood covered knife. Obviously the weapon used for their suicides. He cleaned the blood off of their clothes and then placed it in his bag along with its sheath. It had to be sharpened as he guessed that it was some souvenir one of them had bought. He then looked at the vast collection of books that were there. He was very intrigued by them and his focus made it so that he did not notice the presence of Vanessa the entire time.

Frankie took a look at Cole, really questioning how he had gone this long in just a jean jacket and shirt in the first place - he must have been freezing. But, as Allegra pointed out, there were other people here who looked like they could use the leather more than him. She might have offered it to Abigail if she didn't seem too proud to take it, and she might offer it to Colette, because just looking at her make Frankie question how she was even alive. She was about to really tell him it wasn't an offer, but her head perked up when Will said her name and gave the order to search the fast food place. She doubted much would be there, but didn't protest

She looked back to Cole with a half-smile with no amusement behind it, "Maybe later if you're turning blue," then went off to catch up with Abigail. She took out her trusty crowbar that was already dangling from her belt, grabbing it by a section she wrapped with sticky tape as a makeshift grip. She was thankful she did that weeks ago, because otherwise she'd be gripping pure metal - and she shivered at the thought of her fingers turning blue.

When she caught up to the fast food place, she came to one of the large broken windows, peeked her head through the opening to make sure nothing would immediately bite her face off, then ducked inside. From her pocket, she pulled out a keychain flashlight with a little crank on it, and flicked the tiny switch on the side to turn on the light. It wasn't exactly perfect, but it was good enough to brighten whatever she wanted to focus on. She looked over to Abigail now and said quietly enough to be heard, and hopefully not draw anything to them, "We should stay close. I watch your back, you watch mine," then she put the tiny thing in her mouth, the light shining outwards, and headed for the kitchen.

"Yeah, sure," she paused, glancing over to Frankie. "But I doubt we'll find anything other than moldy patties in here."
Sure, Abigail wasn't much of an optimist. But she knew that she had to be realistic at a time like this. They weren't about to stumble onto some incredible storehouse full of canned beans, down jackets, and enough gasoline to keep them lit for three months. No, she thought as she slid over the counter behind the register, all that they would find was... Well, old frying oil. Gross. Idly, Abigail flipped open the register. It had been cleaned out save for a few pennies and dimes- but what use did money have nowadays anyways? A little weight to someone's worn out pockets?
Sliding the register closed with a 'click,' Abigail turned to observe the small area where fast-food had once been prepared. She had never really been one for greasy hamburgers and limp french-fries dipped in ketchup, but the thought of anything that could fill her stomach now made her stomach rumble. Stepping over to the soda machine, Abigail slid her left knee up onto the dusty counter and uncovered the top of it. Whatever was once inside was bound to be de-carbonated and stale by now, but the little water that had once made ice cubes and provided restaurant-goers with beverage was still there. Evaporation had been prevented by the covering- but the snow provided for much cleaner water when boiled over a fire. That is, when they could make a fire. Sliding off the counter, she stepped over to the cabinets lining the area. Sure, all of the food was bound to be rancid by now. But if they could find anything else to help them- well, it would be worth it, wouldn't it? Maybe. Gathering a handful of straws in her free hand, Abigail shoved them into a ripped pocket of her coat. She didn't know yet what she'd do with them, but she would find some use for the plastic tubes some day.
Some day. Tapering around the counter, Abigail ducked through a doorway and back into the main restaurant space. Most everything had been looted- but people, failing to think of winter, had not yet done one thing that came to her mind. Everyone was cold, weren't they? Resting her bat against a table, Abigal pulled a knife that she kept tucked into the back of her belt. It was the common kitchen sort, but she kept it reasonably sharp for cases such as this. Bending, she began to cut into the seat cushion of one of the many booths lining the walls. Foam from the inside spilled out. Not only was it a great insulator, but it was in abundance here.

Colette Angeliqué
Her whole body was shaking, hands clinging tightly to the dark red hoodie slightly warming her upper body. Colette wasn't used to the cold, winter air that pierced through and stole the air of her lungs, leaving her breathless and her knees weak. The girl had spent the whole way only focusing on not freezing her ass off, regretting not packing warmer clothes; but somehow she managed to pay attention when Will called her and some other boy's name, pointing to a bookstore with a mostly intact sign. A bookstore! It looked like her luck was beginning to turn, maybe there she could find a good book to read the next time they stopped to camp somewhere. "You're Liam, right?" Colette directed her attention to a slighty taller boy with a far too serious expression for someone his age. Yikes. She had spoken too soon, maybe her luck wasn't beginning to turn at all.

Just like Abigail, Frankie didn't think this place would have anything they could actually eat. If any 'fresh' food had been left after 2 weeks into the plague spread, then the food would have gone moldy and rotten. The only things left in here they might be able to take were little odds and ends nobody would have wanted until they had to actually get creative. Still, she didn't start actually looking for supplies until she had done a good once-over of the kitchen. Luckily, nobody was in there, and neither were the zombies.

Fast food places always smelled like feet, and even after a little airing out with the broken windows there was still that faint gross smell in the air. At that point it might have just been the crystallized soda messes that never got sterilized, and the oil still trapped in the frier. Before this whole mess, Frankie would have hated all this, but after seeing cannibalistic zombies eating her family, it wasn't a problem anymore. She found a couple things, one of them included a half-empty can of salt, shoved on top of some of the cooking equipment. It wasn't much good without actual food to go with it, but she still held onto it. She had the same issue with some ketchup packets. She put these things on the counter, and that's when she saw Abigail tearing into the seats, and she smiled around the flashlight

"Smart thinking," she complimented before replacing her crowbar with her knife, going over to another booth and gutting it. The frozen group might be able to shove these in their clothes and jackets. That or they would make good makeshift mattresses, if Will and Maverick actually let them find a place to lay down.

Abigail began to tea the thin foam padding into strips, unzipping her jacket with shaky, white-knuckled fingers and stuffing the insulation between her torso and the thick fabric. She couldn't tell the difference that it might make yet- other than she felt more bulky. Perhaps she'd be safer from bites to her limbs, as well, if she stuffed herself full. Pushing some down and up her sleeves, Abigail also too the time to take off her boots and shake the snow out of them before filling the empty cracks where her feet didn't quite fit with more foam. It was snug, but hopefully it would work.

Lifting her knife, she began to cut into another bench. She might as well collect some for the others- perhaps when her secret finally did come out they would be more inclined to keep her around if she was of some use to them. Bunching some into her arms, she started for the broken window that they had entered through- wondering if there was a pharmacy around the block somewhere. Looking back to Frankie, she paused.

"Hey, I'll be right back." Setting her collection of foam down just inside of the window, Abigail clambered out- making quick work down the sidewalk in the hope that nobody would notice her besides her trusty partner.

Maverick CastleHis grip on his AR-15 tightened as Will spoke. 5 minutes? I'm not the time keeper. Maverick looked down at his broken watch out of habit; the second hand ticking clockwise and falling back at the six after futile yet persistent attempts to continue. An accurate representation of time.

Maverick shivered and let out a shaky breath. Not only was he the only one outside as everyone was helping out but the storm was picking up, making it harder for him to see. "Oh hell no, I'm not going to stand in the cold waiting for him to get back." He intended to make his first step toward the direction Will and Allegra went when he heard the crunch of snow under weight. Mav spun around completely, and aimed his AR-15. The cool metal brushed against his cheek and he shivered. Maverick took cautious steps toward the noise when he realized it was Abigail. She was making her way down the sidewalk alone. "Abigail?" Mav called out in a harsh whisper. He kept the gun in hand but lowered it in a less intimidating way. "Are you alright?" he asked knitting his brows together in concern.

Looking bulkier than usual, Abigail turned a bit- squinting as to avoid looking directly at the blinding white snow below her feet.
"Uh... Yeah. I found some foam padding inside of the restaurant, if you want some for... Warmth." Screwing her eyes shut a bit, Abigail took a deep breath. Dizzy spells weren't all that common in her every-day life, though she supposed that now that she was nearly without medication they would be common.
"I was just heading up the road to see if there are any other shops. Nikita mentioned needing... Medicines, I think. There could be a pharmacy around here with some supplies left over in a locked room, maybe." She shifted her grip on her bat a bit, nose red from the cold. She, luckily, had a hat that almost covered the entirety of her ears, and gloves- though worn and thin- to protect her fingers from the bitterest of colds. She could already feel the insulation from the padding kicking in, as well.
