Elliot felt as though he had to push through the mist bank as he jogged outside the manor, watching it rise out of the cloud bank like some hulking behemoth. He slowed to a stop on the stone steps in front of the main door and bent down to stretch, his muscles aching from the long run. Today would be a chilly, miserable sort of day, but Elliot didn't mind. He liked the way the mist rolled over the English countryside, as if it were a big wet blanket. The weather could also prove to be interesting training conditions, if he could manage to drag some of the kids outside.

Elliot pushed one of the tall oaken doors open and made his way to the kitchen, turning on the kettle to boil some water. In the meantime, he grabbed a protein bar from the cupboard and a teabag, which he dropped in a mug and poured the hot water over. Carrying his breakfast into the adjoining room, he set everything down on the round table beside Akuji, who was already awake and attacking the last of the paperwork. Elliot glanced at the clock on the wall -- just after seven. If the kids weren't up by now, he'd have to wake them up soon.

Patting Akuji's shoulder in a sort of wordless "good morning," Elliot sat down and shuffled through the papers on the table, grabbing a pencil and pulling out his phone to use the calculator. He wasn't the biggest fan of having to go through all this and sort things out, but he supposed it was necessary. If he and Akuji were going to keep this place afloat, they'd have to take care of all the boring stuff too.

As he tallied up some figures, Elliot glanced over at Akuji. They'd been working together for a while now, and he felt confident enough to say that he knew her well. They were a good team, although maybe sometimes Elliot was a little short. He liked to think that he was the practical one.

Elliot took a sip of his tea, grimacing in pain as it practically burnt his tongue. He pushed his chair back and stood up, drumming his fingers on the table.

"I don't know how you can do this almost every day. I honestly don't see much of a point in it." Elliot spoke with a soft Dutch accent, rounding his O's and hissing his S's sharply. "We're almost done here, anyway. I think it's my turn to call them down."

Elliot and Akuji usually took turns calling the kids down for the morning, just because sometimes it was a chore. Akuji had done it last, which meant Elliot needed to step up. He stood at the bottom of a large staircase, leaning against one of the banisters, and cupped a hand around his mouth.

"Good morning! Let's hop to it."

Teen Rashaad.jpgRashaad was already awake and getting ready for the day as the adults prepared breakfast. He finished up his shower and grabbed his pants. Black. Black long pants for today. That would fucking work. He yawned and rubbed his hair with the towel to get the rest of the moisture out as he headed back into his bedroom from the bathroom. There was a shirt somewhere, he was fucking sure. He rummaged around in the room, unable to hear Elliot's call, especially without his hearing aids in.

About three minutes later, he had found a shirt and was pulling it on, hardly looking at what it was. It might be blue, it might be black, he didn't care. It was a shirt, he was clothed, whatever. He grabbed his hearing aids and slowly began making his way downstairs as he put them in. He walked past Elliot, adjusting the left ear to be on and working before moving to the right. He hadn't noticed Elliot yet, usual for the hardly awake teen. Maybe when he was an adult, he might be better, but he definitely acted like a teen for right now.

He stumbled into the kitchen and began searching for a mug. Mug found, coffee was then procured and poured in when it was ready. Food didn't matter right now, it was all coffee. The boiling water was added to the instant coffee in his mug and he stood there for a moment, waiting for it to dissolve as well as cool down enough to drink. He would eat at some point, later. Coffee was always step one in his morning routine, no matter what.

He wandered into the next room and sat in his usual seat. Not too close, not too far, but definitely out of Akuji's way as she did paperwork. He sat and yawned as he waited for his coffee, both hands wrapped around the mug. It was hot, but not so hot he couldn't hold it. When it wasn't so hot to kill his tongue, he began to slowly sip at it. Caffeine every day to keep him alive and awake, even if not aware until he had been through a few.

He grabbed two more cups over the course of his sitting there. He was there, but awareness didn't kick in until about the third cup. He finally nodded to Wallace, realizing he was there, then Akuji as he noticed her as well. Progress indeed!

1586196029996.pngWaking up in England’s countryside was always strange for Qingshan, the sounds of birds in the morning, the clear sky as she looked out of the window all the thing most people would get used to quickly but for Qingshan comparing the mornings to the heavy industrial china that she was used to was something that even after the better part of a year she hadn’t got used to. Qingshan when being compared to most the others in the house was an early riser. Much like Mr.Lance, Qingshan also enjoyed a morning run however she made it a point to wait until she had seen Mr.Lance leave before she set out, that morning run was her time to get he head on right for the day ahead, her time to leave whatever happened yesterday as yesterday's business not to mention the fitness aspect was another plus side that she just couldn’t pass up.

Much like her morning, this run was something else she couldn’t get used to the scenery it was beautiful, the tree’s and the other types of flora that were scattered around and the crisp and clean air made it such a pleasant start to the day her run in China was nothing like this. Her run in china was beautiful in its own sense the various different styles of architecture, the people she would run into each and every day. China’s beauty was man-made while England is natural just comparing the two was unfair in Qingshan’s eyes. As Qingshan run came to an end and she ended up back outside the manor she glanced at her wrist, staring at the small watch on it as the hands ticked to ten to seven which meant she had arrived back perfectly when she wanted to. Arriving at seven runs the risk of Mr.Lance or Miss.Barnes had already woke up everyone, which then runs the risk of her morning run being discovered even if Qingshan is convinced the duo already know about it she likes to keep it hidden as that time is her time.

Qingshan stared at the open window leading to her room, she could feel her leg muscles starting to cramp, the mist made it very difficult to see causing her to pay more attention to where she was going rather than on her pace and the cold weather meant she had to push herself even more in order to warm up her muscles. Qingshan quietly began climbing the drainpipe next to her window, her usual way to escape and enter the manor without using the front door before sliding back into her room and allowing herself to rest for five minutes.

The next step on Qingshan’s morning routine was a shower, due to her gifted ability she has made sure to shower after any activity that causes her to sweat, along with washing her clothing by hand, usually doing both at the same time in order to save her time. After a quick shower, she took her clothing and left it over a radiator to dry and thoroughly dried her body before picking out a new outfit to wear. She always liked wearing clothing that was easy to move in but at the same time showing off the figure she had worked so hard to upkeep, usually consisting of some sporty leggings and a simple slim-fitting tee-shirt and today was no different, opting for the black and white combination of black pants and a white tee-shirt, she did nothing with her hair leaving the long thigh-length hair looking rather messy.

As if on cue as Qingshan left her room a voice came from downstairs it was clearly Mr.Lance waking up all the late risers. Heading downstairs Qingshan gave a nod towards Rashaad, she had tried to talk to him in mornings before and had been met with silence up until the first few cups of his coffee. It was clear he wasn’t a morning person, so she quickly gave up on that pursuit. Mr.Lance and Miss.Barnes, however, could hold a conversation in the morning so Qingshan would usually converse with them two until the others came down. “Morning mum, morning dad.” Her usual morning greeting towards the two dipped in with her usual sarcastic undertone letting people know it’s a joke, still the first few times people hear it she gets a kick out of their reaction.

First things first breakfast was on the menu and Qingshan not being a big eater in the morning she usually kept with the same with a bowl of porridge with a cup of black tea to wash it down. Finding the usual mug that she purposely hides in the back of the cupboard she topped the kettle up and put it on. “Refill anyone?” She constantly tops the kettle up in the morning even if it's already pretty much full mostly for Rashaad’s sake who requires about ten cups to function but as well for anyone who likes a hot drink in the morning. She began eating her porridge while hovering around the kettle waiting for an answer she usually is the barista for the morning and has gotten used to eating like this.

Linavis Finkorish
Mentions: Elliot Lance boo. boo.

Linavis had woken up just a few minutes ago though as soon as they saw it was close to 7 they pretty much groaned and went on to try to catch some extra sleep. They hated mornings and tended to be more of a Night Owl than a early bird, and 7 was a time they hated getting up at, at least his mother allowed him to sleep till 11 at the very least. Although she would usually have some of her guards forcefully wake him up in unpleasant ways if he slept past that time which was a bit common to say the least. His mother usually kept him inside the house rarely ever letting him go outside unless it was on her property yet here was a bit different and they were encouraged to go outside which was strange to him to say the least. Being with all these kids that were closer to his age range was pretty strange as well since he was usually surrounded by older people at least in their mid twenties. They were honestly still not use to the change of environment and were still not sure of what to make of it. But when they heard the voice of Elliot they groaned and placed their covers over their head and closed their eyes, if he really wanted him to get out of bed then he would have to drag him out. Linavis was going to try to go for a extra hour of sleep and he promptly ignored Elliots call as they closed their eyes and tried to dose off again. They were still tired and they didn't want their sleep interrupted nore did they want to train the only plan they had was sleep as of now and that was what they were gonna get, unless Elliot made them.

Akuji sighed restlessly as she placed her pen down on her large pile of documents. She had been up since six o'clock in the morning to try and file the documents that her many connections sent to her for signing and confirmations of trade. Elliot came into the kitchen at some point during her work, slightly sweaty from his morning jog.

Akuji remained seated at the table and glared at the decimals of their savings, always confused as to how people round up numbers. Elliot came to her with a protein bar and his usual cup of tea, patting her shoulder as a silent greeting. "Good morning to you too, Elli," Akuji chuckled with amusement as the male say down at the chair next to her and fished out his phone. She was always glad that she had a partner with actual good education.

After a while, Elliot went to wake up the children. She had finally figured out the last of the contract when Rashaad walked in with his usual gloomy aura. Used to his silence, she greeted him simply before tidying up the table. Seconds later, QingShan strolled in with her normal sarcastic greeting.

"Yes, dear child, good morning," Akuji rolled her eyes with a fond smile. She might not admit it, but she liked being considered as a parent, even if it was half the intention of mockery.

She always had the strange liking for a mix of tea and coffee, finding that she enjoyed the contrast between the two bitter drinks, so she poured herself exactly that.

She drank her drink as she sat back down, waiting for the other children to arrive. She knew that Linavis always had the habit of giving herself an extra hour or two of sleep, so she decided to call her down if Elliot didn't succeed in his first wake-up call.

Evan was still sitting in bed wide awake hed had a bad dream again... Honestly really more a night nightmare he couldn’t remember what it was but it still terrified him.. So he just sat there in the dark... For a while before eventually deciding to get up walking down stars looking incredibly tired “morning...everyone...” he said drowsily. sitting down at the table he really wasn’t feeling hungry but... “yeah... I’ll take a drink please...” he replied quietly

Ruby had been up for a good few hours before the call from Elliot from downstairs. She never seemed to require much sleep, always full of energy and life, whether that be to her ability or just her biology she new really knew. Either way Ruby had been up since about 5AM in her room training. She did this everyday, waking up early and setting straight into her workout routine which lasted an hour. This morning she had blasted through 200 push up's and sit-ups, a good 100 reps on her skipping rope and had done 100 reps with her dumbbells. After all that she moved onto the next section of her routine.

This was followed by a good hour of martial arts training which was either her going hell for leather on the punching bag she has in her room or doing the same thing to the Wing Chun Dummy she has in her room.

Today it was the punching bag and Ruby was battering the hell out of it, landing blow after blow on it each one making a nice satisfying thud upon the bag. A few jabs here, a flurry of uppercuts, the odd casting punch and backfist every now and then Ruby was completely focusses on her training.. That was until she heard Elliot calling from downstairs. Spinning on her heel and delivering one final blow to the bag with a roundhouse kick Ruby sighed, wiping her forehead to rub of the sheen oh sweat upon her brow. Glancing at herself in the mirror Ruby smiled at herself and headed on down stairs humming to herself. Once she got down and headed to the kitchen she saw some of the others were already down here. "Morning all!"

First was Rashaad, who didn't acknowledge his presence, but that wasn't out of the ordinary. Elliot knew how he felt about mornings and wasn't about to reprimand him for it. Qingshan was next, and she greeted Elliot and Akuji with her regular cheekiness. In truth, he didn't mind at all, and even found it a bit endearing. He flashed her a smile, glad to see that at least someone was chipper on this cold morning.

Evan and Ruby were next, which meant that Linavis was still lounging about upstairs. Elliot waited another minute, drumming his fingers on the bannister, knowing that his tea was getting cooler each minute.

"Linavis!"

No response. With a sigh, Elliot walked up the stairs and turned the hallway to face the closed door of Linavis' room. He brought up a hand to knock, but paused and instead pressed his ear against the door. Nothing. Turning the doorknob with practiced stealth, Elliot poked his head into the room and spied a lump on the bed, wrapped tight in blankets and moving with a slight rise and fall, as if asleep.

Elliot was going to have none of it. No longer trying to be quiet, he strode into the room and opened the curtains up wide, letting in the dim morning light before tugging back the blankets that were constricting Linavis.

"Come on. We've got trainimg outside today, and I don't have time for you to mess around." Seeing as Linavis wasn't likely to get out of bed on their own, Elliot scooped his arms around them and lifted them out, plopping them on their feet and forcing them to stand.

"Do I make myself clear?"

Teen Rashaad.jpgRashaad slowly became more aware as he continued to drown himself in coffee. At least he was usually very well hydrated, even if quite a bit of it was coffee and caffeine. He signed a slow 'good morning' to those at the table, awake enough now to recognize there were others around him. He nodded his thanks as Shan refilled his cup and yawned.

He looked at the others as they joined and noticed the missing pair. Linavis might make it down on their own...some day. That day wasn't fucking today. Or likely any damn time soon. They would be dragged, carried, or tossed down the stairs depending on how fucked up today would be.

'Outside shit this morning?' He asked, looking at their claimed adult. He didn't mind physical training, but it was harder than hacking a government or draining bank accounts. More fucking effort. He'd do any training, but it wasn't like he was fucking looking for physical activities to do.

Linavis Finkorish
Mentions: Elliot Lance boo. boo.

Linavis was laying comfortably in their bed and they didn't pay any attention to their name being called by Elliot, they had their covers over them and their head laying comfortably over their pillow. They didn't open their eyes and was quite content with themselves in their quest to get just a extra bit of sleep, though that soon changed when they felt the morning sun rays hit their eyelids. They clenched their teeth and tightened their eyes then went on to shift onto their other side in order to avoid the sunlight. They put their covers over their head to give them protection from the sun-rays only for them to be snagged away from their arms, they let out a groan in response not even bothering to open their eyes since they already knew it was Elliot by the sound of his nagging voice. They still refused to move although they were much less comfortable now, than they were before. Though when Elliot grabbed them by their arm and forced them out of bed they let out a audible yelp though they were still stunned a bit. Though they should of expected it really, they were too tired to think straight and was really just wanting to get some extra hours of sleep though with how they got dragged out of bed and set up on their feet with little effort from the older man though they leaned back a bit as if they were about to fall they quickly adjusted themselves even though they were still set to their only half asleep as of now. They groaned a bit as they wiped the morning dust out of their eyes in order to make it easier for them to see with the sunlight so that they could properly complain about their treatment. "Ugh, we train just about everyday and so early in the morning non the-less why can't we just train later, and let me sleep for a few extra hours." they practically muttered out the last part in a annoyed tone as they shifted their head to the side in order to avoid direct eye contact with Elliot while still being able to see him out of the corner of their eyes though it was mostly to show their disdain for being forced to get up so early in the morning.

Seung Ji-yoo
i3qkFLc7tHq0T85BLjDa3b1guxkYQRl31p-ENACpbxE.png

Seung was upstairs taking a good few minutes to scrub her teeth clean. Her toothbrush was specifically made to suit her teeth. As she scrubbed she could hear everyone down stairs and began to speed up her process a bit. Spitting the toothpaste into the sink, smiling wide so she could see her work. She closed her mouth content with her work and headed downstairs. She made her way past Linavis' room, quickly poking her head in. "Oi Snow-white better hurry if ya wanna actually eat before training." With that she made her way down the stairs. Seeing the other kids she gave a quick greeting. "Hello everyone today's menu will be a traditional Korean breakfast so just give me a little bit to get everything ready."

With that Seung got to work, getting out the pots, rice cooker, vegetables, eggs, and meat. While she started up the rice cooker she began to chop vegetables and cook the meat on the stove. She also cracked a some eggs for the others cooking those up, and began placing the vegetables in the pots to boil. The light on the rice cooker blinked showing it was done so she took a bowl for everyone and filled each one up with rice. Then she got out plates and placed the meats on each plates making sure to add some spices to them. She then got out another set of bowls to put the soup she made using the vegetables in. After she was all done she began handing out everyone's servings. At first it would seem one portion was just slightly larger. You'd think that serving would be for Seung herself but instead she placed that serving in front of Ruby. Taking a step back from the table to look at everyone. "Be sure to let me know how it taste, oh and if anyone has suggestions for breakfast tomorrow be sure to put it on the fridge. I'm also taking suggestions for dinner tonight. There's extra for anyone who wants another serving of rice or soup."

After that she sat down to eat her own meal. Starting with the rice she began to chow down. As she did she would take glances to see how everyone was liking the meal. After a few bites herself she thought it all tasted alright but just to make sure she looked up once again and asked. "So how is it?"

Perhaps Elliot had been successful in waking everyone up, and perhaps not. What did matter was that the delicious scents of Seung's cooking had quickly drawn him out of the shower and down the stairs in just enough time to grab the last of the home-cooked meal. As he wiped a strand of wet hair from his face, he looked around the table to see that almost everyone was there. Not all were sitting at the table, but for the most part it looked like they were all ready for the day. And ready they would have to be; Elliot had a lot planned. He and Akuji would take turns instructing the children, and today was his turn.

Elliot's eyes flicked over to Akuji, who had long since given up on the morning's paperwork and was instead sipping her strange concoction of tea and coffee. She offered him a slight smile and pushed her chair back, getting to her feet and making her way over to Elliot. Putting a hand on his shoulder, she raised her other arm and snapped her fingers a few times to catch the attention of everyone in the room.

"It's time to get going. Clean up, and no complaining." She shot a glare in Rashaad's direction -- maybe it was directed toward him, maybe not.

Elliot looked up at Akuji as she spoke, a small smile settling over his features. "Right. We're heading to the gun range -- moving targets at long range today." His steely gaze passed over the children -- perhaps a little intimidating, but a little bit of a daunting attitude never hurt anyone.

Pushing back from the table, Elliot made his way toward the kitchen's side door, which led outside to the back of the estate, where nothing but rolling hills could be seen for miles. Several yards away was the ammunition hut, where the firearms were stored. Unlocking the door, Elliot ducked inside and dragged out a large tub, which he opened to reveal layers of pistols stored between layers of foam.

Seeing that the children were beginning to filter outside, he stood up and put his hands on his hips. "Grab one and head to one of the shooting stations. There's already noise-canceling headphones at each station. And I'm trusting you all remember how to load your magazine?"

Clothes mixed in with discarded chip bags and soda cans littered the floor. At the corner of the wall nearest to the door was a mound of scrap paper, some crumpled up and others torn to shreds. On each appeared to be pen markings, some had scribbles that were unreadable while the majority had numbers somewhere written on them. Though sorting through it would be a hopeless venture that would leave anyone with more questions than answers. Near the curtained window was a twin-sized bed, surprisingly clean and untouched considering the filth that surrounded it. Dull greys and brown lights decorated the blue blanket, the continuous shift in colors was evident that something else occupied the space. Adjacent to the bed were a wall of computer screens, most mounted on the wall while some sat on top of a large desk that also hosted more empty cans and chip bags. In the center of all of this was a young woman, her stature diminished by the amount of screens that sat in front of her. Digging into a newly opened bag, the woman plopped one of the fried potato skins into her mouth, maintaining her focus onto one of the screens on her desk.

“You suck at this game!” a young voice hollered.

“That’s weak! You fucking camper!” an older man added.

Just like this, strangers continued to hurl insults at her through the blue and red headset she wore loosely around her neck. Despite this, she gave no response. All of their voices meshed into one, sounding almost like white noise to a disinterested Arya who took another kill from her vantage point. She was playing one of those first-person shooters, the one set during WWII where they were supposed to fight Germany or maybe it was Japan in this variation, she couldn’t remember. She was sure they were fighting one of the axis powers. Though, she wasn’t playing in the campaign this go around. Instead she inserted herself into an online lobby where she’d team up and fight against other active players. The goal of the match was simple, the team with the most kills won. Aiming her sniper at an unsuspecting soldier, she quickly pressed the right trigger and shot. If the point was to kill then that’s what she’d do, so what did it matter if she camped? The insults came in droves until the timer clocked out declaring Arya’s team the winner.

With the game now finished, she placed the grease covered controller onto the counter and swirled her chair in the direction of another computer screen that hung to the right of her. The screen read “DOWNLOADING 86% COMPLETE”, a green line darting the full length of the monitor only to immediately return to the start once it reached the end of it.

“Still not done.” she mumbled as she leaned back in her chair. This was taking forever. Arya hadn’t slept a wink last night. She became too invested in the development of a new virus. For what purpose, she hadn’t quite figured out, but that could be discussed later. Right now, she wanted to create something that not only attacked a system’s firewall, but actively searched and destroyed the computer’s system folder making the computer useless. That's how the night started anyway. In order to create this specialized code, she needed a specific programming software that she had not installed yet, so she decided to do so last night which turned out to be a huge mistake. Now she sat there stuck playing a repetitive game that provided her little to no satisfaction. Arya groaned, leaning further back in her chair only to be met with a stray ray sunlight that managed to slip through her curtains. A groan of annoyance shifted into one of excruciating pain as she fell back in her seat while frantically rubbing her eyes.

After a few seconds of rubbing her eyes she had finally adjusted to the light, though that still did nothing to alleviate her pain. Arya laid on the back of her chair, her legs hanging off the bottom of the seat as she was passing her time on the floor. It was official, she hated this place. Hated the people who took her away from her old life. Why did they bring her here? What did she have that was so important that they’d drag her all the way from the states to the middle of nowhere England? As smart as she thought she was, she still couldn’t figure that out. What was worse about this entire thing was their need to play house. The whole thing was truly disgusting, two adults gathering a bunch of kids in a house, and for what? So they could pretend to be parents to a bunch of dysfunctional superpowered adolescents? The thought of it almost got a chuckle out of her, but she remained silent.

With a twist of her body she fell out the already grounded chair and onto an assortment of clothing that acted to cushion her fall. Glancing back at the monitor that now read “DOWNLOADING 87% COMPLETE” she decided it was time to eat something that wasn’t processed potatoes. Pushing herself off the ground, she stumbled onto her feet, nearly falling backwards in the process. Luckily, she managed to steady herself before making her way to the bathroom. Like her room, it was also a mess as well as a safety hazard. Wires connected together at an outlet near the sink, the tiniest splash of water could start a fire. Arya didn’t seem too concerned with the potential danger though as she quickly stripped and immediately jumped into the shower. The cold water felt like daggers piercing her skin, a much needed feeling if she were to wake herself up. Afterwards, she went about haphazardly dressing herself with a plain white tank top, a blue zip-up jacket, matching sweatpants, and a pair slip on sandals.

Dressed and ready for the day, she made sure to wait for everyone to gather outside the manor, recalling hearing Elliot’s voice earlier while playing. It must have been his turn to wake them up today. After thirty minutes, she sluggishly walked down the main stairwell, peeking to make sure that they had all left. Almost. Elliot was in the process of huddling them together outside, for what, who knew. Training changed day to day without a concrete schedule so it was hard to know what today’s plan had in store. All she knew was that she wasn’t going to partake in it. Watching as everyone made their exit from the kitchen, Arya decided to hang out on the upper level until they had all gone to training. Returning to her room, she picked up her chair, grabbed her headphones, wiped off her controller, and entered a new lobby. They may have brought her here, but that didn’t mean she’d obediently follow their orders. From the left side of her counter was an almost empty bag of assorted lollipops. Pulling one out, a grape flavored this go round, she removed the wrapper and tossed it onto the floor. She made sure to wear the headset on her head instead of her neck this time just before the start of the match. Soon, her eyes reflected the grey of the screen followed by a countdown and a military commander shouting order. Then, the game officially began.

instead of following everyone else out Evan opted to stay at the table, he still really wasn't feeling well and he didn't want to go out to the range today at all, his wings wrapping around himself due to how he was feeling. luckily he managed to get out of being dragged out with everyone else, looking up at he'd notice Arya poking her head in to check before disappearing again. it was at that moment Evan had a bright idea... maybe Arya would know-how to make him feel better in Evan's mind the girl clearly knew everything. the little demon carefully got up and slowly headed up to her room carefully opening the door as he could see she would be playing a videogame. he would wait patiently for a little while before gently pulling on her arm as he looked up at her with a worried expression on his face "hey... Arya... do you know how to... umm deal with nightmares... i.. been having them a lot recently" he'd ask her with a hopeful smile on his face.

Illuminated brightly by the erratic flickering of an old lamp, a small figure knelt before what appeared to be a horror film scene in hideous miniature. His knees were pressed into the floor as though he'd been sitting there for quite some time, the mismatched stockings he wore fastened to his pinstripe shorts doing little to offset what should have been rather uncomfortable. Mori did not care for comfort however, at least not when he was so close to potentially unlocking one of his Mummy's secrets.

The room was eerily still and silent, his gruesome little set-up in stark contrast to the cutesy decor of plushies and toy medical equipment... which, despite the childish additions of ribbons and stickers, really weren't toys at all. There was simply no reason one had to perform twisted, Frankenstein-esque experiments with ugly or basic tools. That would just be so boring.

The star in Mori's right eye practically shimmered as he emptied a syringe of strange, bright pink fluid into his current victim... the rather sad-looking body of Goldie, another child's goldfish. Mori wasn't sure what exactly had killed the orange creature, but despite how things might currently appear, it hadn't been him. He liked animals and refused to hurt them unless his life depended on it, and even then, he'd probably feel a bit guilty. Emotionless slaught— er, help in playing dead forever was reserved exclusively for humans.

Once the sticker-coated needle had been set aside, Mori selected a tiny metal rod which was hooked up to an extremely complicated device involving hundreds of wires and a stolen remote control car battery. He'd designed it himself of course, though it was heavily inspired by a much larger unit from his Mummy's laboratory. Leaning forward to get a better view of his work, Mori's tongue poked out rather adorably as he focused his steady grasp on the task at hand. Inserting the rod through Goldie's tiny mouth, he then carefully flicked a switch on his device and watched in delight as the animal began to twitch and flip around like a fish out of water... which, obviously, is exactly what it was.

For all intents and purposes, it appeared that Mori had brought his fishy friend back to life. Obviously (to him at least), that wasn't really the case, but it was still a major improvement from the last time he'd attempted such an experiment. As a bonus, he'd rejigged his power supply so it wouldn't blow another fuse and unexpectedly plunge the entire building into darkness like last time, and the time before that. Sure, the power supply still cut off for a second, but perfection was never instant. Science was a process and unexpected issues arising entirely natural, but the other children, and more importantly Elliot and Akuji, hadn't seen it that way.

"Are you proud, Mummy? Mori asked in his undeniably cute accent, odd eyes wide as though expecting some form of reply. Holding his worn and rather creepy plushie out in front of him, the boy tilted has head before sighing. "Yes, yes, I know I'm supposed to be downstairs with the others... but this is more important, right Bunny? This is how we're gonna get Mummy back!

Laughing softly to himself, Mori then hugged the stuffed rabbit tightly.

A failed kill. She aimed her sniper at an enemy fighter, a scrawny fella with a weird assortment of trinkets that hung around his neck. A different skin probably, but fancy or not he was about to be blown back to his respawn point if Arya had anything to say about it. That’s what she would have liked to have happened, but the sudden pull of her arm caused her thumb to swivel on the left stick and completely miss her shot. Arya kept her annoyance hidden under her usual face of apathy as she glanced down at a pair of reptilian hands holding onto her. So it’s him again. There were only three people in this house who apparently didn’t seem to understand the concept of personal space. One would be Akuji, the mad woman who blackmailed her into coming to this shithole in the first place. The second would be her right hand man Elliot, or maybe he was her husband, she didn’t know nor did she care. Elliot seemed to have a better head on his shoulder, but only slightly. The girl still didn’t like him. Outside of the two legal adults, the third was none other than this hybrid of a kid who now tugged at her sleeve.

What is it now, she questioned in her head, guessing what this weirdo wanted with her this time. Evan was the kid’s name. He was a weird little brat like the rest of them, but slightly different. Unlike the majority of the children there who could take a hint, well most except for Rashaad and some other names she couldn’t remember, Evan didn’t seem to get the memo. When she first entered the manor about a year ago, she had brought all her monitors from the States with her, refusing to part ways with them for any reason. Evan saw this and asked her about them to which she initially ignored him, not in any mood to talk to a ragtag bunch of youths brought together by two creepers. At some point, he must have seen what they were used for and ,after the surgery, her newfound abilities were no secret to them. It was around this time that Evan started following her around with questions about the world. Why? For some reason he had this weird notion that computer smart meant she must have the knowledge of the whole damn universe at her disposal. Frankly, the assessment was flawed and incorrect in all fronts.

Arya sucked on her lollipop for the remainder of the game, ignoring Evan until the match was officially over. After declaring that her team lost, she slid her headset down to her neck and looked at the estranged child with a face that clearly showed he was worried about something. Crap. Now fixated on what random question the child brought to her today, she was unsurprised by his inquiry about how to deal with nightmares. So he must be having problems sleeping she assumed. Tossing away the flimsy lollipop stick to the floor with the rest of her trash, she replaced it with a new one. It was cherry flavored this time.

“Nightmares? Easy, don’t sleep and you won’t have them.” she stated bluntly. Was it terrible advice to give to someone? No doubt. However, was she incorrect in her statement, well technically no. If one cut out the middleman, in this case sleep, then you wouldn’t experience nightmares though after a short while of not sleeping they would surely experience wild hallucinations. She remembered a popular urban legend about an experiment in Russia during WWII where they kept five participants awake, giving them sleep-inhibiting stimuli to keep them up. Long story short, the five didn’t have a happy ending. Maybe she should rethink what she said, after all, Evan was still a child.

“What have you been doing to cause you nightmares?” she inquired, running through a few possible answers in her head. “Did you see something scary?” she asked apathetically, appearing disinterested in any answer the child would give. Waiting for a response, she started up another game. Knowing Evan, this would probably take a while.

Linavis wasn't that surprised when Seung came to call them snow white though they didn't show it they did consider that to be a little clever given their hair and their abilities even came with their own witch that took it upon themselves to wake them up. They did eventually move on to brush their teeth and put one of their favorite outfits before moving on downstairs to get their breakfast. When they did get their breakfast they went on to get one of their arrows not because they planned on training but more so because they liked having at least one arrow in their hand or nearby whether that be for playing as a good luck charm or just plain old protection. When Aria came out of their room which wasn't that common they did feel a bit of envy that they get to stay in their room more since their powers are more tech based and although she would be a useful friend to have she was kinda hard to approach so they would of had to study them a bit more before they can successfully move on to manipulating them to be a friend. They didn't really care much for most of the other kids though some were interesting and be useful others not so much, keeping the useful ones as a friend or whatever would be beneficial to them so they were usually nicer to that select group of people. The demon kid that followed her into Arias room was a prime example of someone they didn't really find useful nor did they care for but they did apparently seem to be getting a bit close with Aria which was something that can be useful if they actully did become friends, so being nice to them for now was a bit essential just in case they did eventually become friends with Aria. After all its easier to make friends with someone when you are friends with their friend after all, though they still would have to make sure they didn't do any noticeable shifts in personality when someone gets something they want to avoid people thinking they were just trying to take advantage of them which would damage relationships quite a lot and likely even worse would be them earning a reputation as a manupulator which would make manipulating much harder. Still though they weren't going to flinch and were just gonna keep the innocent persona as of now in order to make them easy to approach though they only know so much about people from observations they still were able to learn enough which would help. As of right now they were just gonna look over their arrow to make sure it looks nice and would be very effective to use in case they did fire it especially when it came to looking over the feathers. They were a bit focused while sitting on the couch and was sitting down toning out everyone else as they got lose in their own thoughts and how to best move forward for future purposes.

If she was counting right, not everyone was there, but that could always just be her horrible number skills. After the kitchen quieted again, she gathered up the mass of loose papers on the table and dumped them in her study, a small-ish room on the east side of the manor.

She wasn't done here, however. Pausing near the doorway of her study, Akuji listened and nodded as she heard the faint patter of feet moving upstairs. Her sharp eyes also caught a slight movement of pale white hair on the couches nearby, meaning that Linavis had also failed to join Elliot.

"This should really be Elliot's job," muttered Akuji to herself, and she made her way up the staircase. Hearing voices coming from down the hall, she poked her head into Arya's room, not surprised to see her still there. Evan was there as well, and the pair of them seemed to be discussing something -- nothing that would trump the importance of training, though.

"Come on, Arya, you know where you're supposed to be right now." Akuji spoke in a quiet, firm voice, lacking the hypnotic quality that she could have employed. "You too, Evan. It's for your own good."

It was true; the whole idea of this "orphanage" was to better equip these kids for a future career. Akuji and Elliot wanted to preserve the traditional status of villains, and the only way to do that was to raise the next generation themselves. Nowadays, villains had confusing morals and philosophies, meaning that they often tied their own nooses through inconsistencies and sloppy work. Akuji was determined to uphold the heritage of days long past.

"Do me a favor and drag Linavis out, too. He's downstairs." With that, Akuji slipped back out and counted on her fingers, trying to recall if anyone was left up here that she hadn't seen yet. That's right -- where was Mori? The lights overhead flickered, and Akuji frowned. That would be him.

"Mori?" Akuji knocked on the closed door of Mori's room. She waited for a moment, then turned the handle and looked inside. The room was cutesy and bright, in stark contrast to Mori's little "altar of science" that he insisted on keeping. The small boy was bent over his latest experiment; Akuji could smell a strange, tangy scent in the air. She didn't exactly disapprove his his experimentation, it was just... erratic.

"Are you finished here?" Akuji spoke up with a soft voice, hoping not to startle the young boy. "Elliot's outside, at the back of the house. It's about that time, y'know."

She paused, then added with a sigh, "I think I heard some candy wrappers in his pocket."

Teen Rashaad.jpgRashaad returned the glare with one of his own. He hadn't fucking complained and he always cleaned up after himself! He hadn't even been caught by Arya yet for leaving his backdoor to her computer. The last time he had hacked it, he hadn't cleaned up as well and she had tossed him out immediately. He rolled his eyes but cleaned up anyway, turning up the volume of his hearing aids.

Outside fucking sucked and it was harder to hear with all the extra sounds. Indoors, the carpet helped muffle excess noise, especially from outside. It meant more lip reading and assumptions and they all knew what they said about making assumptions. Idiots, honestly.

He walked up and grabbed a pistol, frowning as he felt the flicker of power from the house. Mori was probably fucking around again. If they fucking lost power again, it'd suck. He turned his attention back to the gun, grabbing a magazine and heading to the station closest to the house. He already couldn't fucking hear, what was the point of the protective head gear? He ignored it, turning down his hearing aids and loading the pistol. He checked the safety, checked to make sure it was in fucking working order, then looked at the target. It was too bad they didn't fucking have live targets. Moving targets were harder and were exactly what they fucking be up against in the future.

Ruby looked around taking in who was down here already in the kitchen. She noted there was the odd absence here and there but that was to be expected. It was always the same every morning there would be at least one or two people missing from the kitchen area when mostly everyone would be up already. Making her way over to the fridge she opened it up pulling out a carton of Orange Juice before pouring herself a glass before putting the carton back into the fridge. It wasn't long before Seung came down and began to make everyone breakfast. She was making such wonderful meals for us all. Ruby leaned on the counter watching her work grinning, the wonderful aroma of food filling her nose. It was no doubt going to be delicious as it always was. Watching for a few more moments Ruby made her way to the table sitting down, taking a sip of her Orange Juice, the cool liquid quite refreshing after the workout she had done. She glanced over at Akuji and Elliot giving a small smile before leaning back into her seat. Not long after Seung began handing out everyone's servings, which Ruby ran her eyes over. A wonderful selection this morning. "Thanks Seung!" With that said Ruby began to tuck into the food, nodding her head in satisfaction truly enjoying the meal. She grinned giving Seung a thumbs up of approval when she asked how everything was.

After finishing up she cleared away her things and sat back down at the table just as Akuji stood up and made her way to stand beside Elliot, before the snapped her fingers getting everyone's attention. Then Elliot spoke. Ahh the gun range again... with moving targets as well.. Ruby nodded to herself, whilst she was always more of a hand to hand up close sort of person, it never hurt to train with a gun, juuuust in case it was required. Ruby stood up and followed Elliot outside along with a few of the other kids. Making her way over to the box once it was opened Ruby picked up one of the handguns looking it over, checking everything was in working order. She nodded at Elliot and then marched off to one of the shooting stations. Sliding the noise cancelling headphones on, she loaded up the magazine cocked the gun and then aimed down the range checking her sight. Nodding she waited for the targets to begin moving.

Mori had just finished cleaning up the remnants of his latest experiment when he heard a rather expected knock upon his door. While the boy didn't particularly hate most training excercises, they weren't his priority either and he rarely bothered to keep track of them. Not to mention, his habit of staying awake for days at a time tended to make day and night run together after a while.

Recognizing Akuji's footsteps, Mori tilted his head in greeting once she opened the door. "A true scientist is never done experimenting," he stated in response to her inquiry, willing but in no hurry to join the others just yet. "I already learned how to stop blowing up all the fuses!" Beaming with pride at this accomplishment, the boy smiled adorably up at her as though seeking some kind of praise.

The moment Akuji mentioned candy however, his entire focus shifted with lightning speed. "Wait, Elliot has candy and he didn't share with me? Noooo fair," Mori whined loudly, drawing out his 'no' as though he'd been denied some priceless treasure that was rightfully his... and in his mind, he had. Offering Akuji a quick wave goodbye, the boy took off with great enthusiasm and bolted downstairs, only skidding to a halt when he'd reached the small gathering outside.

Bleh, shooting again. Mori found guns to be incredibly boring... after all, what was the point of killing your enemies if it was sure to be quick and painless? Chainsaws were so much cooler anyway.

Leaving the task at hand to the others who'd already begun selecting their weapons, Mori instead hurried over to Elliot. "Akuji just told me that she heard candy wrappers in your pockets! That means you have candy, which means I have candy," Mori said, his tone equal parts sugary and matter-of-fact.

Standing pigeon toed before the man as his unblinking, starry eyes practically shined with hopeful innocence, Mori was so cute it bordered on sickening. While effective on many, he could only hope Elliot would buy his puppy dog eyes this time and offer up the prize.

"oh wow yeah not sleeping that's a good idea I didn't think of that" Evan would reply with happy excitement though a frown came onto his face when Arya would ask if he saw something scare "umm... yeah... I think it's my powers... as well i-i-i don't know" Evan would reply with extreme worry he was about to ask Arya more questions akuji would walk in telling them to go outside evan giving a big frown "aww... but i don't wanna.. go..." he'd pout not really feeling up for traing but knowing he'd have to go anyway

This kid was an idiot. His upbeat response to her, admittedly, terrible suggestion made her wonder how the child managed to live this long when he so readily accepted anything anyone told him as fact. Swiveling the left stick, she managed to barely avoid being killed by an enemy gunner, but her bloodied screen made it difficult to see anything on either side of her. One wrong move and she’d find herself back on the other side of the map, completely nullifying all her current efforts. Attempting to figure out her next move, Evan went about answering her question concerning the cause of his nightmare. She listened to him half-assedly, most of her attention focused on trying to survive in enemy territory long enough to capture their flag. Sneaking behind enemy lines, she somewhat understood what the brat was scared of. She was sure that the kid wasn’t telling her everything, but it didn’t matter to her whether he did or not.

“Your powers huh?” she mumbled, pushing the lollipop into her right cheek. For a quick second, she glanced over at him, his face showing obvious signs of worry, before returning her attention back onto the screen.

Arya honestly didn’t know how to answer that. She didn’t have his powers, so she didn’t understand the effects it had on his psyche nor was she a psychiatrist. It’d be easy for her to tell him that everything was going to be fine, and to accept himself as he was, but even she didn’t believe in that load of bull. She then thought about Akuji and Elliot and this sick twisted game of house they seemed to enjoy so much. For a couple of backwards adults attempting their hand at parenting, they sure sucked at it. Suddenly the screen went red, an enemy sniper having shot her in the torso. Tissing, her character limped behind a large crate, Arya once again waiting for the bloody spell to disappear.

“How abou-” she was cut off by the sound of her door opening. Who was it now? She glanced over to see an all too familiar figure. Immediately, she averted her gaze back onto the monitor, her hands tightening on the controller. Had she put any more pressure on it, she felt that it would break in her hands, Speak of the Devil and he shall appear. There was no truer saying in that moment that this as the pink-haired bitch entered her room. Her message was short and subtle, refusing to directly tell them what she wanted though it was quite obvious what she was hinting at. She wanted them to go to training. Apparently Arya hadn’t been the only one intending on skipping today’s circus practice. The Bitch called out to Evan and then asked them to get Linavis before taking her leave, Arya screen turning completely black as the husky voice announced that they had lost the match. Dropping the controller onto the counter, she could feel something sharp on her tongue. The lollipop still held between her lips, she realized she had shattered the remaining piece of candy in her mouth. Great. Spitting the stick onto the floor, she rose from her chair, completely ignoring Evan’s presence and put on a pair of tattered track shoes that hid underneath her bed. Shoes tied and haphazardly dressed, she left her room with a scowl, leaving the game still running in the background.

Arya truly hated her. There was no other person in this house that pissed her off more than that blackmailing Bitch that called this place an orphanage. Akuji’s mere presence was enough to make her vomit in her mouth. Everything about that damned woman pissed her off to the point of making her physically violent, though she hid that part of her well. However, she couldn’t disobey her. Not at this time. Making her way down the stairs, she exited the large double doors of the manor and met with the rest of the house tenants, Elliot leading the group. Arya would love nothing more than to escape this place, but not before she settled the score with them. Though, at the moment, she was severely lacking in information. If she tried to settle things now, all it would amount to is another loss and whatever punishment the two would decide to give her. They had all the cards in their hands. They knew her past, who she was, who she became, and all she knew of them were that they were psychotic people with a penchant for playing disgusting games. Heaving a deep sigh, she followed behind in silence while maintaining her expression of apathy as they entered the shooting range and began choosing their weapons. She’d find something on them, and when she did there would be hell to pay.
