“When I look up and see the sun shining on the patch of white clouds up in the blue, I begin to think how it would feel to be up somewhere above it winging swiftly thought the clear air, watching the earth below, and the men on it, no bigger than ants.”

- Eddie Rickenbacker

In 1942 A.D., the continent of Europa is dominated by two superpowers: The Messer Republic in the west and a commonwealth of loosely allied, right-wing leaning states known as the Gaul Federation in the east. Across the channel to the north sits the Kingdom of Saxland; a peaceful country with strong ties to the Messer Republic but is well known for being founded by eastern Gaul Royalty. For the past 100 years or so, tentions have been building between the east and west due to mass militarisation by the Gaul Federation after a communist uprising was harshly crushed in 1880 A.D. Since then, the few remaining communist factions fled over the Messer border and set up hidden bases deep within the thick forests and valleys; tempers flared in 1939 when a large scale communist raid caused the deaths of over 2000 civilians and Gaul soldiers in an attempted coup, later this atrocity was later named 'Red Wednesday Massacre'. Whilst the Messer Republic refused to accept responsibility, they eventually agreed to allow a Gaul army group to enter over the border to put a end to the Communist raids once and for all. However, things did not go to plan; several Messer citizens were arrested, presumed to be communists or helping them. Without the consent of the Messer Republic, these citizens were forced over the border and never seen again. Out-raged by what the Republic called 'a act of violence towards the Messer people.' Both sides quickly closed the borders and a stand-off held until Christmas day 1943 when after ten years, only a handful of the kidnapped citizens were escorted back over the border. Demanding that the other citizens be returned to their country; a Messer double-agent contacted his handlers to confirm that the civilians had long since died in captivity and that the 'returned Messer people' were little more than Gaul spies. Unsurprisingly, relations broke down once more between both countries, the spies were all arrested and publicly executed to show that the Messer Republic would not stand for the Gaul attempts to threaten their western neighbour.

On the 1st of January, 1944; war was declared between the Western Messer Republic and the Eastern Gaul Federation. The conflict started as a complete blood-shed as Gaul troops were vastly more experienced in combat after putting down several communist coups but they lacked the Messer's technological advancements in tanks, infantry equipment and artillery to make any serious punch into their enemy's land. Two months passed with neither side looking to have a definitive advantage over the other and a trench stand-off held once more. By this time; Gaul's interests shifted north to the Royal island of Saxland, teams of spies were sent across the channel to gather intelligence, technology and get a overall picture of the Saxland's view of the war. In a stunning act of provocation; several Saxland enginners and scientists were kidnapped from their facility on the southern coastline, what were they working on? Aircraft. It became apparent that for the Gauls to win the great war, it would be decided heavily in the skies as both the Federation's and Republic's airforces were still stuck in the 1920's mindset of Biplanes with two wings stacked one above the other.

Realizing that if the Messer Republic loses the war, they would be next within the Gaul's ambitions; and with that, King Alfred III; Lord Protector of the Saxland people, declared war on the Gaul Federation on the 22nd of August, 1944. Men and Women were recruited from all corners of the country, even a few Messer's that had been forced to leave captured territories that had been lost to the Gauls. Whilst the Saxland's military was sub-par to the over-whelming strength of the Gaul Federation; their Aircraft were second to none. Soon the skies over Europa became a battle ground between the United Saxland and Messer combined air-forces against the might of the Gaul Federation Aircorp.

// Heyo folks, i've noticed that there aren't that many aircraft related RP's so I thought I would throw something together. i've used influences from other 'Alternative European wars' such as from 'Valkyria Chronicles and The Sky Crawlers' so if you have seen them then you should have a pretty good idea of what the world would look like here in Ace of Aces. In terms of the plot, our characters would be conscripted into the Royal Saxland Airforce (RSAF) and be trained to use all sorts of aircraft that are either standard issue or stock-piled planes that have been rushed out of retirement to ease the flow of distribution of newer planes. Players will be allowed to make their own planes for their characters to use (Although I will be adding some requirements so that they fit well into the Lore, i.e no jet engines or large caliber weapons etc..) I hope that this will go slow enough pace wise so that people who have alot to do IRL will still have a good place in this RP yet still have alot of excitement going on to keep those that are a little more active with something to enjoy. //

This is all work in progess but here's a example of a character & aircraft that i'm working on
