Long ago, a goddess was cut in half protecting one of her forests from a spirit of cold and ice. Unfortunately the forest was buried in snow,
and many of the animals met a similar fate. She was later found by friendly woodland spirits. She was given a second chance by being
sewn together with a fallen deer to create the first centaur. Upon returning to the other gods, she was rejected due to her unholy appearance
and failure to protect what she had to. She went to a secluded place to weep. Magical flowers sprang from where her tears fell, and from there
she built children; beings that resembled her, to help ease her loneliness.

Years have passed. The goddess is merely a story the centaurs pass from one generation to the next. The centaurs have remained safe for
centuries, secluded from humans, and friends with most spirits. Unknown by the other gods. They survive off the flowers that now cover
the land gaining magical and healing powers from them. However, all is not well. For the frosted spirits have found their home, and are creeping
in, threatening to kill them and the flowers that help keep them and the forest alive. Not only that, but humans and dark spirits have also
begun to discover this untainted land. How will the centaurs cope with these unknown problems?

WARNING:
- This RP has themes that may be violent for some viewers. The main threat are wendigos, which is a creature from Native American mythology that centers around starvation and cannibalism.
- Some centaur prefer to be in the nude. This is not for any kinky purposes, however it may still make some uncomfortable.
- This RP has made up gods inspired by various different ancient mythologies. Nothing is meant to be offensive, however if the worship of many gods or spirits offends you, this may not be an RP for you.

The small of smoke and burning rabbit hung in the air, and drifted high into the sky. The time was day-break, but you would never guess due to the over cast morning. Dew still gripped the world and the breeze felt cold. Cain had woken up long before sunrise in a cold sweat. When he breathed out to relieve stress, the cloud of breath he saw that extended from his mouth was enough to send him packing his supplies and heading to the Rim of the Gods. It was not necessary to go all the way to the Rim just to pray, but there was something strange about his dream last night. He could not remember much of it, but it was cold, dark, and had the stench of death that still filled his nose.
He had killed an offering and had set up camp near a cliffs edge. He knew the trip probably took awhile, but it still felt like he had just woken up. He didn't remember setting up the fire. He placed his sticks, and threw some spice; then he prayed deeply to the Goddess, and any other God that would listen.

Fay loved sunrises. She always woke extra early to see them. However this morning, as her hooves stepped out from the tree, she was greeted by frost. "Frost" she had to repeat to herself. The chill seemed to hit her gradually as she only now started to notice her goosebumps and dragon like breath. There was a pause. "It's... too early in the season to be getting this cold..." she thought as her morning fog finally lifted. After that, panic struck her. "The flowers!" She finally burst aloud. She raced down the roots of the ginormous tree, reaching a patch of the magic plants she had been working with for quite sometime. To her relief, the flowers appeared to be okay. They seemed to have kept themselves warm using up some of their own magic, judging by the rim of unfrosted grass that surrounded them. A couple Chi Chi started to emerge from their underground nesting spots to sit beside her warm body.
She immediately spun into action as her horns begun to light up, helping to warm the whole area. She sung a song to the flowers as she did so. They always loved it when she sang.

Her heart pounded, the blood rushed through her. Sweat dripped from her brow as the forest raced passed her. The only thing she heard was her hooves pounding and branches slapping as she went by. Leaping over a log, she drew her spear over her shoulder, and threw.
A loud curse could be heard as she pulled the spear from her wooden target. It did not hit the bullseye, and that greatly upset her. She threw down the stick in a fit of rage, stomping her hooves about, saying oh so not nice things as she did so.
She grew hotter as she heard fairies around her, whispering. The fairies loved to watch her practice, because they always knew there would be a "show" to follow. Her face was red as she breathed heavily. She watched her breath dance in front of her, almost mockingly. Wait "watched"? She was so warm, she did not even realized the cold night air had never left. She picked her rod up slowly as she glanced at the sky, almost expecting something to fall from it.

Kasper stood, a shivering, sniveling mess. All he heard was the chatter of his teeth as he stood, waist deep in what felt like an iceberg. In fact it was just Falling Spring, a place where many came to bath or have fun. Neither of which Kasper was accomplishing very well. His mother always insisted on a morning wash before starting the day. As soon as Kasper stepped a hoof outside his hut however, he tried to protest. Alas he was not very good at protesting and so here he stood. Clenching his arms as he tried to keep warm. His mother had already finished her bath and was waiting on him, but he could not seem to move. She tried to insist it was not that cold, but Kasper would say otherwise if he could hear her over his chattering teeth.

Horse | Male | 34 | Defender |Location: Forest |Tages: Ki-Mono Ki-Mono (Marigold - Defender)

As the young lass in the form of the youngest & second female defender practiced to himself, honing the techniques which had been instilled into her head & years of effort to perfect... She still struggled She hadn't felt right at the moment & her expression showed this. While she may have gazed to the sky, the sound of heavy clopping could be heard from a distance. Crushed branches & brushes being moved aside could be heard getting closer... & closer... & closer...

Until she saw a very familiar figure appear before him.... Her eldest senior, the oldest Defender. Zom... She knew that name, helm & axe all to well. The massive male came by, bare-chested & broadly walking. Hunted animals hang on his lower half's back which was tied down whilst his axe, slightly bloody was swung on his shoulder. His hairs stood up at the breeze hitting his skin which he was out all night in which he then said to Marigold...

"Young Mari.... Still allow your anger to cloud your mind.."

His helmed head turned to the fairies who stopped their giggle in his presence, he continued...

"You know... you're getting better... at losing your calm."

A chuckle came from him, he often times prodded his younger juniors given that they respond with funny expressions all the time.

Willow
| species: horse | sex: Female | age:29 | main task: Creator | location: Willow house
Willow rubbed her eyes and looked out a nearby frosted window as she lay in bed. The warm reds and yellows of sunrise began to peek into the room. She wondered how Cain was doing, he left in such a hurry so late the previous day. She hadn’t been able to sleep last night, so she made the best of her time knitting as her son, Rocky, snuggled next to her. She finished her creation, she sat her needles down on a nearby shelf and slipped it over her head. She pulled her long straight brown hair out and from underneath the poncho. She gently grabbed her brush from the nearby shelf and began humming as she brushed her hair.

Rocky
| Species: horse | sex: Male | age: 13| main task: youngling(defender) | location: Willow house
Rocky was fast asleep, tucked in beside his mothers stomach. He shivered a little and cuddled his way closer to his mother. She was very warm, and he was rewarmed by her. She laid a heavy blanket over him and he began to drool, slipping further into his deep sleep. His mother would be waking him up shortly but for now he needed his sleep.

Snowdrop
| Species: Reindeer | sex: Female | age: 23 | main task: Shaman| location: Mother tree
Snowdrop’s eyes fluttered opened as she deeply inhaled some incent smoke. Her head turned from side to side slowly, she lowered her arms from their outstretched position, she moved her hands to waft the smoke into her face a bit more. She exhaled in one burst, she pleaded “goddess, send me a sign as to why this is happening…” she truly did not mind the cold, her reindeer blood burned inside her veins. She shook her head, chastising herself, this was not about her. This was about the safety and well-being of every creature here, animal or plant, she needed to find out what happened.

She stoked the embers in her fire pit, she called “Poppy…” she poked the embers a bit more, she reached up into her antlers and pulled a small hanging pouch off. She called once more louder “POPPY!” she poured the contents into her open hand. She held it up to her nose and sniffed, taking it away from her face her brow furled a bit. She turned her head “Poppy get over here now! I see you over there.” She squinted her eyes glaring at the spotted fawn asleep under a heavy blanket. She tossed the pouch to the ground and stood as she dumped the contents in her hand onto the embers. As she did the embers turned a bright blue and green flames shot up high. Her eyes flew back to the flames, growing wide.

Poppy
| Species: whitetail deer | sex: Female | age: 14| main task: youngling (caretaker) | location: Falling Springs
Poppy walked out of some brush, she dusted herself off, removing small twigs and dead leaves. “I hate the cold. ” she shivered as she made her way out into the clearing before Falling Springs. She sat her bag gently down on a softly sculpted stone. Opening the bag; with one hand she pulled out a small cloth and with the other a small container. She left the bag laying half open as she turned and made her way towards the pooled up water. She began grumbling to herself in a mocking tone of Snowdrop “poppy do this… poppy do that… oh, poppy….” She rolled her eyes “I don’t wanna be a stupid weirdo like her anyway! Ugh!” she stopped her small hoof, not paying any attention and splashed into the water a tremor spread through her and she screamed “AHH! THAT’S COLD!!!” she stumbled backwards, falling onto her butt, rather ungracefully, she dropped her belongings and looked around panicked someone might have been her acting like such a baby.

She spotted another deer-centaur in the water, she blushed, even though she had no idea who it was. She quickly snatched up her cloth and she paused midway in grabbing her container. She dropped her cloth and picked up the now shattered containers pieces. It had been one of the few positions of her late mothers, and now another piece of her was gone. Eyes becoming moist and heavy as a few tears broke free, she clutched the small container to her chest and clumsily stood up.

Nira had woken but very early only to be greeted by a bunch fairies at her door which she ignored they have been doing this ever since the winter began to spread. Flinching one of the fairies Nira began her journey but of course, it wasn't going to be easy the fairies began to pull at Nira's hair jerking her head backward, "Alright, alright. I understand." the fairies never had anything important to say and if they did it was rare. Whispering into her ear the fairies relieved went on her way. Nira had forgotten that she told the fairies to keep an eye on the king in case he encounters some trouble. Sighing Nira headed towards the Rim of gods it was one of the many places she fancied visiting but once she began to care about her duties se never really got the chance to visit.

The journey had taken a while and Nira wasn't fast on her hooves but thankfully she made it before noon. "Sorry I haven't come to visit often," Nira spoke to particularly no one a habit of hers to speak to things that aren't really there. She watched as the King finished his sacrifice before she interfered walking up behind him, "You should have taken someone with you." she said taking a hand full of the spice and throwing it in after him. "It's not safe.

Male / 18 / Defender - Deer / Tags: None

He was standing near the Mother Tree, sort of day dreaming for a little bit. He was surely going to move at some point, but he wasn't exactly sure when that would be. Today was an off feeling day today. He was itchy, and a bit uncomfortable in his own skin. It felt wrong. Something didn't feel right.
Perhaps it was just himself, but he was to be sure to figure out what the problem was in time. The man gazed about at the others in the vicinity. Centaurs he knew, centaurs he didn't know. He wanted to get to know them all but today wasn't the day. He felt a little down, a little unhappy. There had to be something to help cure his boredom. Perhaps it was just depression? It surely was a case of the blues.
He sighed, and with a shake of his head he finally moved away from Mother Tree to head off towards the forest to find a way to Falling Spring. A bath was something he needed, it would be best to try and bathe.
By the time he got there he was sweating and shaking. The entire walk was a crazy fiasco. He didn't want to take a bath, in fear of falling into the deeper depths of the water. But also he did want to bathe to try and rid himself of the blues. He could try and relax for once.
Though clearly the entire way there he was not trying to relax.
Reagan made it to Falling Spring in once piece, and he slowly approached the banks. It was a bit scary but with a bit of determination he willed himself to head off into the waters. He sat down in the gentle current and while it was up to his chest he sighed and relaxed a bit.
Finally.

MISHKA KHABAROVSKI

Male / 23 / Defender - Horse / Tags: None

Mishka had woken up early and headed away from Mother Tree. His favorite spot to sit alone was Silver Run. That was where he was headed to first. He made sure everything was packed with him, a few leaf pouches containing snacks for him just in case he got hungry, which he probably would. The man got hungry a lot, and he made up for it in muscle and strength. He was a largely built horse with muscles and a stone cold look that could melt the Cold Nothing.
Which was what he was afraid of.
Ever since he heard about it he was spooked of the idea of the entire place going cold. He was originally from a more colder area, he was used to the climate. But this was just not right. A frown creased his face as he continued on through the forest towards his ideal location. His thoughts were going everywhere and his mind was racing at a million miles an hour. It was alright though, he had finally made it. What seemed like two minutes was turned from twenty, and Silver Run appeared in his vision. He approached with caution, gazing around and looking for any other signs of life before laying his large body near the bank to watch the river. He loved listening to it run, and would sometimes take naps out here.
Today was a special day, however, for he was able to experience a mother bear and her two cubs playing around the other side of the river. He smiled to himself, a rare treat. He almost never smiled. He also loved seeing the animals do their thing without knowing he was there. He sighed to himself and relaxed a bit more as he watched the bears.
Alone.

Sagittarius - - Pansexual - horse/centaur - crafter, semi-defender - location: Falling Spring - tags: Poppy ( kesshowolf kesshowolf )

The white stallion had been visiting his apple tree, plucking the ruby fruits with great care before setting them gently in his woven backpack. The majestic tree had always gifted him a plentiful amount of apples compared to the other fruit trees in the area, and it’s roots were intertwined in an odd dent in the earth. Sagittarius himself was holding his handmade bag with one hand while he twisted the apples from their branches with his other. Just as he had reared up on his hind legs to retrieve one from a higher branch, the man heard the high pitched cry and galloped over. He slung the pack onto his back on the way.

His hooves slowed gradually when his pale turquoise-purple eyes settled on the young centaur on the beach. She was only a little bit wet, but the true cause of her woes appeared to be the broken glass she was holding to her chest. “Hey, hey, can you explain what happened?” The older centaur chided gently, his front legs kneeling to he could see Poppy and what was going on. He quickly picked up on the fact that she had broken the container in her fall, and from the look of it, it seemed more like an heirloom than a normal pot or glass. Sagittarius tentatively placed a hand on Poppy’s shoulder and flattened his own hand to catch any of the broken pieces that had started to slip from her grasp. “You’ll get cut if you hold those so close to you. Tell you what, I could try to fix it up back to normal if you help me collect the pieces? If you want to do that though, we should put them in the cloth so they don’t hurt anyone. Does that sound fair to you?” Sagittarius reasoned with a stable (lol) voice. It was quiet but still had an air of logic and care to it.

His eyes met Poppy’s as he waited for some sign of confirmation, giving a bittersweet smile of encouragement in an effort to cheer her up a bit.

Marigold was slightly startled by the presences of the elder Defender, Zom. He towered above her, bare chest covered in scars from battles past. Rumor had it he'd even fought a Wendigo before. The young female however, did not buy it, and was determined to not show her embarrassment of him catching her in a tantrum. Momentarily forgetting the cold and her past thoughts, she boldly pointed her spear up at him. "Oh, and you're just so great, Mr. Strongarms" she taunted, "Your time is done, it's about time someone new shined around here" she continued as she began to trot around him. "I bet you couldn't even catch me if we sparred right here and now. Muscle ain't everything~". Talking to Zom in this way was a risk, but Marigold was still fired up from her training, and was not in the mood to put up with anymore of Zom's "old people" lectures. At least the fairies had scattered, but Mari new they were probably still watching. This was all too juicy for a fairy to pass up.

Kasper nearly jumped out of his skin by a loud crashing noise. Okay, maybe it wasn't that loud; but Kasper was a tender soul. He wiped around and saw Poppy being comforted by Sagittarius. She was holding... something. His vision was partly blocked by Sagittarius's back. Kasper slowly waded his way to a better viewing spot. He tried not to be too noticeable about it. He hated drawing attention to himself; but he kind of wanted to see what had happened and why Poppy was crying. He hated to see people upset, even thought he rarely ever knew what to do about it. In his daze... he tripped. He knew his splash was probably audible to any present company, but he prayed it wasn't. For a bit Kasper didn't seem to know what was going on. He soon came to the realization he was underwater, holding his breath in fear of eyes on him. He should probably come up for air soon, right?

As the much younger defender turned to her attention upon Zom, the embarrassment ridden on her face escaped with a quickness of sly fox running off upon enraging a predator as it took the other's food. His deep, eyes watched as the proud female spoke back to him.... This remind him too much of the pass, years from this day. He didn't see a woman... but a girl. Her master was Zom's superior & she was the Defender's apprentice... Great times but that mattered little at the moment.

Responding to the first words which the thunderous voice replied...

"Thank, Young Mari. You feel asleep in these arms far too often when you were younger. You may do so if i held you."

Chuckling as he spoke of old times until he heard something... A challenge... Marigold was fast.... But she wasn't as fast as she believed herself to be. She may be faster then her fellows but her speed... Zom laughed upon hearing this and shifted until he blocked her path forcing her to bump into his chest. Towering over her as he looked down at her, his eyes glowed from the helm as he wrapped an arm around her which he spoke once more.

"We shall not, you will need a full stomach & a wonderful sleep unless you wish to get slap?"

Zom often times threaten his juniors with the slap. A vigorous swat to the buttocks or the chest, the sting could last days on end and a large bruise would form and those Defenders who grew up in the clan... Knew it all to well. Tighten the hold around Marigold's waist as her chest could be felt against the colossal abdominal muscles of her senior but he spoke once more...

"Besides, you should find a mate. Maybe someone could get that tension out of you."

Chuckling as his junior wasn't adapt in such field of experience. It made him laugh that the Defenders focused so much on their jobs that they leave little time to themselves. Zom's body heat helped warm up Marigold as well as she would soon find a warm feeling inside of her.

Rocky was still fast asleep well into the morning when he finnally rolled over and knocked himself awake rather ungracefully. With drool on his chin, he wobbled his way in a sitting up position. He looked up at his mother, who was crafting, she was always crafting something… he snuggled his face back into the side of her bulging stomach. As his mother scolded him, "young stallion, you had better not be wiping your chin on me..." he just looked back at her and smiled. she was giving him a side glare but soon broke it with a smile, as she reached back an tossled his bedhead. Then he noticed behind her, the window, it was light outside. He jumped to his hooves “ma, what time is it?!” as he just looked out th ewindow like she had just noticed "oh, it is morning isn't it?" he began to freak out, he reared up and began dashing around “Zom is gonna be so mad! He’s gonna make me run laps for this! Agh!!!” he grabbed a handful of oats and burst out the doors. He galloped as he popped the oats into his mouth, then broke into a run towards the forest.

After some frantic searching her stopped and looked around, he only heard his own heart beat beating in his head. he mummbled to himself "I know she dosent want be becoming a defender, too dangerous blah blah blah. but I am going to be one!" his heart stopped beating so hard in his head, he sighed. Then all of a sudden he heard Zom’s big booming voice and marigold. Hearing them go at it made his nose flair and tail flicker and he dashed off heading towards the direction he heard the voices come from. Bursting out of the bushes BOOM ran straight into Zom’s leg, knocking Rocky onto his rump. He looked up at the towering stallion centaur and wondered if he even felt that.

She was still delicately picking up the shattered thing off of the ground and out of the many pebbles that the glass seemed to want to cling to. She looked up for a moment startled and embarrassed she quickly looked away from the handsome older stallion. This was terrible not only did she shatter one of her mothers only remaining possessions but she had humiliated herself in front of a handsome boy! Her life could not get any worse, or so she thought. Her droopy ear twitched as she managed to hear him say something about being able to fix her mothers soap container. Her ears perked up a bit as she sniffled a little bit and wiped her cheek with her free hand, she looked up at the white centaur “you… you promise you can fix it?” she had such hope in her eyes, as they glossed back over with tears as she searched his eyes. Then she felt his hand on her shoulder, how long had it been there? She blushed, looking down.

Poppy stood up carefully and held up her hands, both now cupping the pieces, towards Sagittarius. “are you a crafter?” she had seen his around mother tree, she had noticed all the stallions running around, his pale coat with the cool colors was beautiful, how could she not see him?

[ - Kodiak ● Warrior ● Male ● Thirty-two years old ● Caretaker - ]
Location: Outskirts of Mother Tree | Interacting with Ki-Mono Ki-Mono (Fay)
For Kodiak, his morning had been less than spectacular. He had been woken by the sounds of birds, droning calls that made him frown in annoyance. He had huffed, clambering to his feet and getting on his way. He didn’t make it a habit to linger in his room- knew there was no point to it. Even with the chill in the air, the temptation simply didn’t appeal to him. Before he had left, however, he had grasped a leather covering he kept on the coldest days of the year. Today certainly seemed like a cold one, he mused, as he felt the strong breeze that swept across his skin. A sliver of concern raced up his spine, surprised to find it was even colder outside than within. Nervously, he tugged on the strings of his lapel. Beginning the walk to the gardens, Kodiak kept his steps even. He didn't wish to alarm anyone, especially if he just broke out into a sprint. The trek felt longer than ever as he continued, studying the foliage with unseeing eyes.

The sound of soft singing was the first thing he was greeted with upon nearing the gardens. Relief fluttered through his chest at the noise. He knew who the voice belonged to; the only other caretaker he was paired with. Stepping into the clearing, Kodiak trodded quietly closer. He didn't wish to disturb the woman, especially when she seemed so content. He could feel the wave of warmth as he paused several feet away. Flickering figures of Chi Chies came to float around his form, curling around the lengths of his legs and arms. A little less alarmed by the presence of his fellow caretaker, Kodiak bit at his bottom lip before he finally settled down in a snowless patch of dirt.

"I'm surprised to see you here so early this morning." He observed softly, voice barely heard over the chirping of birds in the distance.

[ - Terra ● Female ● Twenty-four years old ● Monarch - ]
Location: Mother Tree | Interacting with kesshowolf kesshowolf (Snowdrop)
The chill was the first thing that woke Terra that morning. Skies, highlighted with the hues of a dawning sun, shone down upon her dwelling. Sighing through her nose, she stood. Grasping the silks of her wrap, she slipped it over her form. The goosebumps that raised along her arms made her tie her bindings even closer to her body, not wanting to be chilled. Dark eyes roved over her small room before they landed on her alcove of accessories, studious and thoughtful. It barely took her a moment to reach for her metal bands, slipping them into her wrists. With a final sigh, Terra left. There had been much troubling her for the past few days; strange happenings that the defenders had noticed around camp and the surrounding area. It was enough to cause discomfort, even concern. So, she was in search of a shaman. There was only she trusted enough to speak with, although she had a habit of keeping to herself. Still, Terra was determined.

As she walked, there were several others she bumped into, each one greeting her or stopping her to chat. Used to how sought after she seemed, Terra merely listened and tried her best to supply her people with the answers they sought. It wasn’t long before she found herself on the hearth of the shaman’s door, eyebrows drawn high from the raised voice within. Raising her fist to knock, she paused at the gasp that faded into silence. Tense, Terra froze. Instead of barging into the home, unannounced, she chose to linger by the door, ears tuned in for any more noises from inside.

Long before the sun had risen, Laszlo had been awake. The air had shifted, making the nights colder and the days seem longer than the next. Many had complained to him of the chill, commenting on running noses or sick younglings. So, he had gotten to work. He had asked favors of the caretakers, requesting specific herbs that fought off the feelings of illness and helped protect the bodies from the cold. The process had been tedious and even now, bent over his collection of medical items, he felt a wave of fatigue loom over him. Yawning to himself, he shook his head. He wanted to return to bed; ignore all of his duties to just sleep off his insomnia. However, he knew it would be a foolish idea. There would be people coming to visit him, demanding he give them the remedies to their ailments. Sighing to himself, Laszlo shook his head as he once more returned to his concoction.

It wasn't long before he found himself finished with the mixture. He leaned back as he allowed his pestle to fall away from his hand. He was sore from leaning forward, too absorbed in his work to focus on his posture. Deciding he needed to get out and stretch his legs before his first meeting of the day, he slipped from his home and began to make his way towards Falling Spring. Perhaps a quick dip in the water would wake him so he wouldn't feel at risk of falling asleep for the rest of the day.

Sagittarius - - Pansexual - horse/centaur - crafter, semi-defender - location: Falling Spring - tags: Poppy ( kesshowolf kesshowolf ), Kasper ( Ki-Mono Ki-Mono )

Sagittarius hummed an “Mmm hmm” with a small smile. “I promise to at least try the best I can, and yes, you’re right about that.” As he spoke, the stallion neatly unlooped a tightly woven pouch from his belt and smoothed it out into a cloth square, the hand that had previously been on Poppy’s shoulder now guiding her hands to it. The design of the product had been his own and had an iridescent shine to it. More importantly though, the materials were threaded so closely together that even the smallest shards of glass were included. The young man’s fingers tenderly plucked the sharpest pieces from the other centaur’s cupped hands before brushing the rest into his hold, finishing up the job by pulling on the rope to seal the bag.

“I cannot promise that it will look exactly like it didn’t before,” he confessed and presented the bag to her. “Unfortunately the pieces are... well, pieces, but I can connect them back together. I would prefer if you would help out so it’s more personal to you and you know exactly what is going on.” Though he knew that Poppy didn't intend to become a crafter when she was older, he figured the skills would at least show her some important life lesson. Plus it wasn’t as if he had an apprentice of his own to train.

Sagittarius blinked down warmly at the smaller mare. The issue seemed to have an easy solution, but doing something like that was bound to set a shadow on the rest of the day. Getting back up to his full height with a grunt, he came up with a new proposition. “Tell ya what, if you’re eager about getting this done then we can start it today, but first I’d like your help. I just came from my apple tree and need a few taste testers, you think you’d be up for it?” The crafter winked with a grin, his hand dissapearing behind his back for a moment before pulling out one of the sunset-red apples from before and plopping it into Poppy’s hand. Just as he was about to say more, Sagittarius noticed a flurry of bubbles on the lake’s surface and trotted over to the edge of the beach. He had thought that he heard a slash earlier, but...

With a hum of discovery, he stepped forward with his hooves on the highest elevations he could find in the water and leaned down to pull Kasper out. It was a bit of effort, but Sagittarius was plenty strong and Kasper wasn’t exactly known for being heavy. He still couldn’t hold the youngling up for too long though, and sat him down where he had been previously. The only difference? He made sure he was standing.

The older centaur beamed down at Kasper, an eyebrow arched in concern. “You okay, kid? It seems kind of cold to be taking a dip...” Sagittarius himself had grown quite chilly and had started quickly back to Poppy, throwing a few glances around the two even once he had shaken the water from his legs. He could only imagine the amount of freezing Kasper was going through. “Sheesh! Kasper, do you want a blanket or something?” He offered, clearly blanketless.

The green fire light ingulfed the small hut with a cold glow, light escaped through the gaps and cracks in the sticks. Snowdrop backs up clumsily, her left leg stepping on Poppy’s blanket. With another step she moved the mound of pillows that resembled poppy sleeping, Snowdrop glanced back briefly. She clicked her tongue cursing softly under her breath, her ear twitched pulling her eyes back to the flames. She began walking back towards the fire. As Snowdrop gazed at the wild twisting lime green fire, her eyes glazed over, rolling into the back of her head. She began speaking in odd words, her body beginning to tick and turn in sporadic movements. Her jewels jiggling, pouches swaying, feathers bobbing then the fire sniffed out all at once. As it did she collapsed on the floor, she was out cold for a moment her fingers twitched as she slowly opened her eyes.
She slowly at up, she shook her head gently, she rubbed her head softly leaning up. She folded her legs underneath her as she straightened up into a sitting position. Reaching over she grabbed an empty bag and with her other hand she moved the black ashes around in the fire place, then scooping some up into her hand. She poured it into the empty bag, she pulled her strings back cinching it closed. She quickly attached the strings to her antler, as she let go the bag bounced and swayed back and forth slowly.

She answered her son and watched him scamper out of the house. She sighed “I wish he did not hold that… defender in such high esteem.” She tossed her knitted project to the side, it landed on the table, she stood with some great effort. Her back hooves stumbling a little, she took a moment to steady herself. She patted her (horse) belly and sighed again with more affection. She grabbed a few berries from the table and popped some into her mouth, as she chewed, she gathered a few things into a large wooden bowl. She held the bowl to the side in the crook of her elbow and hip, as she made her way out of her front door. She began making her way down the path from her house, passing a few other centaurs nodding and smiling as she walked. Her mind began to wonder has she made her way, she thought about Cain mostly and wondered why he had to leave in such a hurry. Maybe she should go to the edge? Check on him? Now? No, he would be extremely upset at her risk going all the way out there.

Vale flicked his tail. He'd been awake for the past hour or so, simply enjoying the frost. He adored the cold, and it didn't bother him one bit. His icy horn was glowing slightly as he walked through the dead wood, his eyes searching the bark. His pale grey pelt stuck out like a sore thumb in this grey and black, ashy area where the trees grew bare. Frost glimmered on the ground as he creeped closer towards the heart of the dead wood. No one hardly ever came to the dead wood, in fear of the spirits. The dead. But Vale had found comfort in it recently, and he showed this as he continued forward. His warm breath danced in the air, but he did not mind. The cold did not bother this icy-hearted man. He continued forward, the noises of his hooves getting muffled by the fallen bark and the soft frost. He got a bit deeper into the forest, and he stopped in between two fairy circles. One of the circles was larger than the other, the other much smaller. He eyed the two circles before turning his face forward. The ghosts of his child... Corinthe, his former wife. He stared at them with cold eyes. And they stared at him, Corinthe in disdain, and the foal with a confused look in her eyes. Vale rolled his eyes and pressed on, walking through the spirits of his dead wife and child. He did not truly care, there was something he needed far deeper into the wood. But— could he get it? He was always stopped by some kind of unseeable force when he tried walking deeper. He glanced around the area, scanning the trees. And there was that force, braced against him. It held strong as he pounded his fists against it. He turned around to buck it with his hind hooves, only to end up being tossed over by the force that pressed against his hooves. Vale laid on the ground for a bit, grumbling to himself.

And then he stood up, his tail swishing angrily. "I'll get to the center, if it's the last thing I do." He snarled. He thundered away, his hooves picking up the dirt and grime of the dead wood's floor. He thundered past the fairy circles, and out of the wood. He slowed himself to a canter, but he was still breathing rather heavily. His gait slowed to a trot as he moved towards the mother tree. He could hear strange chanting coming from somewhere. Sounded like Snowdrop. He shook himself off as he started towards the deer shaman's little crook in the tree. He stepped into her small area, he pushed past the deer's monarch with his arms crossed. "Don't tell me that I missed one of your freak outs?" He cooed, smirking as he walked past her, his head held high as he walked towards the small shelf with various herbs.

The sun was above the horizon now, his sacrifice was burned down to a crisp, and he was sure he would begin to attract wolves if he stayed much longer. The winds had been silent, his mind void, his sticks unmoved. This was troubling. Was no god watching?
Cain slowly begun to open his eyes, the bright lights of dawn temporarily blinding him. He unsteadily got to his feet, knowing full well his Mate would be mad at him if he caught a cold on this chilly mountain side.
When his vision finally cleared, all he saw was smoke. Alarmed, Cain immediately tried to find his offering, to see if it had caught fire somehow. However, he soon discovered he was no longer on a cliff side, and the smoke had faded into frost. It hard to see once again as, what felt like a blizzard wiped all around him. He was chilled to the bone, and his hooves felt on fire by the frost bite growing on them. He tried to shield his face to look around himself; as he squinted his eyes open, he was greeting by many skulls looking at him from the darkness. Unable to stand in this freezing snowfall any longer, he collapsed.

In the same moment his was jerking awake from his vision, a cold chill remained in his spine as he tried to steady his breathing.
With shaking hands, he gathered what he had as quickly as possible and began running back to mother tree. His hooves pounding as he swore they still felt frost-bit.
The smoke of his offering traveled into the air of this cold, beautiful morning.

As her song trailed on into the woods, hoof steps could be heard from behind. She felt his unseeing eyes on her back before she heard him speak. His presence calmed her when he finally broke the melody. Her eyes steadily opened, her back still turned to him, "Can't you feel it?..." she whispered, unsure if he could even heard. Her hand lingered on a Chi Chies capped head, her face whimsically staring downward at the flowers before her, "Something is wrong".

As if possessed, her hands shot forward suddenly, burying her hands deeply into the ground, uprooting some of her precious magic flowers. She then stood, the mud on her hands looked like blood. "The Healers will need these. Lazlo mentioned something about it earlier". Her mind was somewhere else as tears seemed to come out of no where.

Her confidence and sass turned to annoyance quickly as Zom held her against her will in a "playful" hug. That's the only way she could describe it. Zom and always been.. strange, in that way. A titian in size, and skills of a killer; but the strange desire for physical attention. His "mate" comment officially was the drawing point as Marigold blush and squirmed out of his tight grasp. She could never really tell what he meant by anything he said, but she made an attempt to flip it to her advantage, "heh, I know even an old fart like you would love a piece of this, but I have things I have to focus on! Unlike you apparently", she smirked.
Before he had a chance to respond, Rocky came tumbling into the scene. "Oh thank goodness", Marigold thought, relieved for the change in subject. "Woah there little buck, where's the fire?" she said, turning her attention to the new comer.
She could hear the fairies sigh as they realized nothing fun was gonna happen now, and started to disperse.

As he broke the surface, coughing a sputtering, he realized he was probably about to pass out and Sagittarius had saved his life. Kasper tried to hold back his coughing fit, for he knew he had drawn too much attention at this point, but as he collapsed to the ground, it was no use. He couldn't look anyone in the eye and felt he would probably cry with so many eyes on him.
Soon his heaving lungs slowed, and it could fully focus got how soggy his fur was, and how deathly cold the air felt. Kasper said nothing and looked at no one, but simply nodded to Sagittarius.
He felt so embarrassed and foolish. Unable to speak or move. He truly was a "deer in the headlights". Why was he like this?

Whilst Zom held the younger Defender in his muscled clutches, he thought back when she just about to be officially considered a Defender for the herd.... It was a grand day but Zom simply watched her along with his fellows at this event to come... She was beautiful and despite her attitude, she was calm that day... Multiple young males & mares within the herd spoke of her and she came in high regard for her skills despite her young age.... Zom wanted Marigold to understand that there was far more to life then combat and being the best warrior.

Struggling out of his grasp or rather, Zom allowed her to be free of it... She tried to throw his comment back onto... Zom had dealt with plenty of people who attempted to throw their own retorts to the things that he said which he proceed to reply honestly...

"Of course, I would. Marigold - You are beautiful as you are skilled and as respected as you are driven..."

The authority that he held in his voice could be heard strongly as it left no more words to be spoken.... Only facts.... he continued....

"I have done my duty... I had slay some wild creatures for clothing? What... You think i just laze about like some fool?"

A small feeling came.... What in the world was it. Turning his head and looking down, Zom saw someone.... Young Rock.... His apprentice which Zom slowly looked down and grabbed the boy by his neck. Easily lifting up and he prepared to question the child...

"So.... You found me now, boy.... I thought i told you to come.... much earlier for hunting practice.... You missed one step of training for this.... day..... Why?

Say what you will about Zom but he was serious about three things - His defender's lives, his herd & the youths under him... Rocky fit into all three and his teacher had the aura of a raging beast who was clenching his neck felt.... painful... His answer best be good.

As she laid there, on the ground, looking at the ashes that just moments ago a blazing fire once had been. Her ear twitched as she heard someone’s soft voice speak to her. In a feat of amazing contortion, she leaned far backward, her antlers hitting the floor from stopping her from going any further so she could see who was talking to her. All her hanging ornaments, knickknacks, and trinkets falling and catching up in various areas, now in an angle that they were not used to being in. she smiled “Vale…” she slid her upper body upright once more stretching her hands above her head as she did so. Her hangings swung wildly, as she came out of her stretch, she moved a few around righting them, stopping them and straightening out her fetishes that hung randomly throughout her long silver hair as she stood. Her many beaded necklaces bounced around her chest and caught in her cleavage, she didn’t seem to be bothered by them. After all she could never keep them all straight, but somehow when she needed one specifically, she could remove it without a problem immediately. As she turned to face the stallion, she brushed off Her lower half, it was a bit dirty from the ground when she had fallen suddenly.
She was actually very happy to see Vale, he did have a way of showing up when she needed him most. She began “it is good to see you-” she paused, briefly looking off into space, then snapping back into the present “how was it this time?” she spoke softly and gently as she approached Vale. She looked him over “not well I take it….” She lifted her hand to touch him but hesitated, looking away suddenly and pulling her hand back towards herself. “yes, the fire was- green… this time…” she looked back up at him as a gust of cold air blew passed them, the cold never bothered her, she knew the cold didn’t bother Vale either which was a little odd for a horse-centaur but shaman where always a bit different. “to answer your question… I fell… again” she shrugged smiling to herself, as she looked back up at him with her bright sparkling blue eyes as her hand still absentmindedly hung in the air beside her.

Rocky’s tail tucked under him as he was hoisted up into the air suddenly, his master glared at him as he swung slightly in the air. He looked away from the massive centaurs harsh stare, his ears pressed firmly backwards in submission. “I’m sorry!” he blurted out “mom didn’t wake me…” he continued in a softer tone. Willow was blunt about not wanting him to become a defender and especially not wanting Zom to be his master, she felt the elder centaur was not quite right and wanted to reduce the time her son spend with the him. She had told Zom as much to his face before. She had made Rocky’s favorite warm-stick to your ribs food last night which made him sleep hard, it always did, and she knew it. “I should have known not to eat so much, so I could wake up on time…”
Rocky shook his head looking up at Zom, with a strong defiance in his set in his chin and eyes. “I slept in accidentally!” he couldn’t stand to look into Zom’s eyes any longer and looked away “I take responsibility for it… ” he wiped a oat that was stuck to his cheek off “I did try and find you… you are very hard to find…” he looked up at marigold, blushing as she looked at him. This was so embarrassing, he feebly kicked his back hooves around. Zom’s grip really starting to hurt now, he would probably have a bruise there. “come on Zom! Please!”

Poppy’s eyes widened and she nodded to the older stallions words as he spoke “yes, I would like to help… but I don’t know anything about that stuff…” she looked down and away from him still clearly saddened by what she had done. As he took the last pieces from her and placed the pouch and an apple in her hands, her eyes widened wider than before, “wow this is beautiful!” she looked at him with amazement “do crafters craft plants too? I thought it was just like knitting and stuff?!” she looked it over in her hands, holding it up to the light as he trotted a few paces away.
She heard some splashing and saw Sagittarius pull out Kasper from the freezing water. “wow…” she whispered to herself as he made his way back over to her. “he’s amazing…” she thought ‘if I change my mind and become his apprentice then…’ her cheeks where becoming a bit red, she could feel the heat rising inside her and looked away from the approaching stallion, she fussed with her hair a bit. Making sure her bangs where straight and her bun was in place.

Sagittarius - - Pansexual - horse/centaur - crafter, semi-defender - location: Falling Spring - tags: Poppy ( kesshowolf kesshowolf ), Kasper ( Ki-Mono Ki-Mono )

Sagittarius’ grin dropped a bit when he saw just how cold Kasper really was. He seemed embarrassed as well, though the older centaur supposed that it could’ve been a side effect from the freezing water. Still keeping his hooves firmly planted in the stones, his top half leaned forward to offer a hand to the kid and pull him over to the easiest rocks to step on. “Unfortunately I don’t have anything with me you could dry off with, but if you would like you could tag along with us to my studio. It does have a fire pit...” he offered. Before addressing Poppy, Sagittarius took the stone star from his chest and held it out for Kasper. “This has the essence of starfire, it should at least warm your hands until you dry off.”

When Poppy spoke up, the white stallion looked back over his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, if you’d like I could do the hardest parts. If you’re interested, I could teach you how to make something yourself?” Sagittarius seemed excited at the idea of showing off his skills, especially since he hadn’t often had company where we worked. The necessary resources for metalsmithing made it a hard hobby to have around too many trees, magic or no magic.

His multicoloured eyes shifted between the two as he broke into a canter, circling the small group to signal that he was ready to lead them back to Mother Tree or the crafting hut, whichever they preferred. Before he had actually started forward however, his hand fled to the back of his neck upon hearing the admiration of the apple from Poppy. “Ah, well, I suppose we tend to make most of the hand-made objects everyone uses. The apple tree has just kind of been a passion of my own. Kasper, you want to try one?” The crafter’s pastel shaded hair was blown by a draft of wind when he glanced back. He hadn’t initially wanted to overwhelm the boy with things to hold right after getting out of the chilling stream, but Poppy seemed to be faring fine. Besides, it didn’t hurt to ask.

Sagittarius finally decided that the situation probably wasn’t as serious as it had started out as and turned his body fully around, walking backwards so he could talk to the two. A small smile had settled on his face. “Ah, even though I’m pretty sure you both know who I am, I’m Sagittarius! Crafter and apple-grower, though the second part of that is a little less known.” The man gave a mock bow, scanning back over his shoulder every so often so he wouldn’t run into anything. Part of his “formal introduction” was really to introduce himself, though perhaps the bigger reason for it was to take their minds off of the fact that Kasper was still likely very cold and wet and that Poppy had broken something important to her. “So um, if you don’t mind my asking, do either of you honestly have any interest in crafting? I wouldn’t want to take you away from whatever any mentors have planned, after all.” He knew fully well how intense a few of them could be, especially if either of them were planning on being a defender. That was what Sagittarius had actually started out as before he found his current line of work.

Akira - - Bisexual - deer/centaur - shaman - location: Silver Run - tags: open

Akira was standing at the edge of the cool, fast moving water, her gaze downcast but looking at nothing. Bits of electricity lit up just above her skin, running down her front legs to connect with the water. As a shaman it was her job to connect to the magical realm, and that was exactly what she was doing. The method to peace, in her opinion, was the use of magic. The connection between the elements of the world made her truly feel one with nature; the fact that water was a good conductor only strengthened the bond between herself and the clouds in the sky.

The girl’s practice was disruptive when a bird leapt off of a branch overhead. It had bounced down under the creature’s weight and upon leaving its perch, sunlight streamed down upon her face. Akira’s face contorted with a flinch, and she slowly opened her eyes in impatience. Well, her focus was shattered now. Surely she could take this time to take a short break? The deer tentatively stepped back and then lowered herself to lay on the bank. With a swift movement, she pulled a spear from her back and stabbed it into a soft patch of grass. It was the perfect place to lean her arms, which is exactly what she did. For the moment she allowed her eyes to close again. This time, however, was more directed towards rest than her abilities.

Finally.

The bears scattered within a matter of seconds, the mother ushering her cubs away from the stream as something had happened. Something happened and he wasn't awake to see it. The man blinked and looked around, trying to figure out what the problem was while also having a bit of trouble waking up. He wasn't sleeping, you could call it napping. The man liked to nap sometimes, it was good for the health. While looking over the grass and rubbing his eyes he spotted his Monarch rushing through the brush and looking in a mighty big hurry. This sort of sent sparks through his being and he quickly got to his feet, ignoring the pain in his head as he rushed to try and follow after the male who, in his opinion.. looked scared.
But he was sure not to actually call his Monarch this aloud, it would be quite rude. Especially around other people, it would make him look bad.
"Cain!" he shouted loudly, racing after those who had been lost. He jumped logs and evaded trees and realized the Monarch was headed back to Mother Tree,
"Cain!"
The large centaur had large lungs to go with, but it was up to the Monarch whether he was to stop or not. Perhaps the reason he was running was far too important to stop for. Especially when the target in mind was Mother Tree.
Where everyone else was. Clearly then the matter was important.

Vale watched the deer centaur get back to her feet, holding his
head high as he watched the younger female do so. He turned his head to the shelves upon shelves of different herbs, of small skulls, of the drying herbs above them. Then to the cauldron, still steaming from the heat of the former ritual or spell that was performed. By the time he'd turned his face back to her, she was already up on her hooves and walking over to him. He gave her a small nod as she stood, his eyes looking over her tangle of knick knacks around her neck. So tangled and disorganized— it irked him. He shook it off to situate himself on the task at hand. First, her remembering that he commonly went to the Dead Wood. She'd caught him once, and she tend to know things about people without them speaking. So, Vale was always careful to talk about his travels there. For now, he pretended like he went searching for the ghosts of his dead wife and child. Little did the fellow shaman know he'd been their killer. "I was... Not able to find them. Not yet. I don't think the dead wood would allow me to see them anyways." He murmured, a lie. He did notice Snowflake reaching to touch him, and he would've let her. After all, it was likely going to be a comforting gesture. Not that Vale needed it. But she stopped, a good choice as well. Especially knowing Vale's snappy attitude.

The fire was green? As if on cue, that cold chill ran by. Thanks to the cold, the icy horn on Vale's forehead had never been able to melt. And he wasn't bothered by it. Wasn't bothered by the cold, wasn't bothered by the ice on his head. He loved the cold, thanks to the ice magic running through his veins. He walked towards the cauldron, his fingers gently running over the rim of the large iron cauldron. "Green, huh? What exactly does that mean to you? Also, you need to learn to control the energy in the area so you don't fall. Or don't perform rituals that will throw you to the floor." He rose his hand, whishing it in the air. "The energy's become very static. It needs to be cleansed." He stated, walking towards the shelves of herbs, looking for the sage.

Rosaline sat in her usual spot under the fallen tree as she looked up at the sky in a daze as usual. Her mind wondered of what the day would bring and what trouble she could get up to without getting caught by one of the adults. Rising up she smirked as she walked deeper into the woods to find something fun to do or at least try to find something fun to do, She trotted along happily down a small path that she had made herself leading from the secret den to the mother tree to find some other of her herd. as she trotted along she hummed to herself, she seemed not to have a care in the world. That was until she realised that she was suppose to find the shamans today and shadow them before she started her training properly to become a fully shaman. Her tort slowly became a gallop until she ran straight into a tree from not paying attention, her hind legs and rear end landed with a thud on the floor as she groaned from the pain in her forehead, its a wonder how she doesn't end up dead from not paying attention to her surroundings

Akira woke with a start upon hearing a loud sound, her eye lids fluttering open within the second it took to pull her spear back out and point it towards whoever was there. Upon realising that it was one of the younger centaurs she froze. Dark eyes were trained suspiciously on Rosaline, who appeared to be recovering from... running into a tree? The young shaman straightened her weapon but still held it with her black, frost-bitten hand. Her own facial expression was now one of unimpressed expectation. Akira didn’t know too much about this youngling, never having been particularly good at socialising with the rest of the herd, and only recognised her as a troublemaker. Still, her little accident did seem to really have been an accident instead of a failed attempt at sneaking up on the practicing shaman.

With a rather monotone voice, the doe spoke up. “You okay..?” She had taken a few tentative steps forward and one of her front hooves was raised, almost ready to come closer if a wound was serious.

Rosaline heard someone approaching from behind her and she stood up rather quickly, looking over her shoulder she smiled slightly as the die asked if she was alright “I’m fine, this happens more then you think” She said with a slight laugh and shook some leaves out of her hair. After getting the last few leaves out of her hair she turned to meet the doe’s gaze with her usual goofy smile “Sorry did I disturb you, I didn’t mean to run in to the tree... this time” She trailed off thinking about how many times She ran into trees but quickly returned her attention back to the manner at hand. “I’m Rosaline by the way” she offered her hand to the doe to have a handshake.
