The point could be after graduating. The better you place in the tournaments the more fame you already have when you debut from school

i'm warning you now that you would have to take the lead on the story for this though, and the general world since i'm not incredibly familiar with the battle school/tournament trope, and i wouldn't even say it counts toward my understanding of what you're thinking of doing

if it's something you wanna do though, i'd be happy with going along for the ride
