Fandom A Tokyo Holy Grail War! Currently Full

AJustKnight

Constantly Changing
For twelve days the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force were on the back foot, reeling in both horror and disgust at the most meaningless serial killings they had ever seen. Tokyo became a hotbed of rumors, accusations and paranoia. Children no longer walked alone but with volunteer chaperons. Most business' locked their doors where they could, only opening them under the most certain circumstances. In the span of twelve days, almost 75 bodies turned up. Each in the same state of undress, with the same injuries. The killers hands gripping the throat so tightly that the muscle beneath the skin had been torn with sheer force, unable to accommodate the killers brute strength. For the regular population of Tokyo, it was the start of their most prolific serial killer, a Japanese Ted Bundy.

But for those well versed in the arcane mysteries of the world, the Magus, it had darker implications. All manner of beast or mage was capable of such evils and such numbers. Some preoccupied themselves with the upcoming Holy Grail War, being hosted for the first time in Tokyo. Others of more righteous values sought to bring this new evil to heel. Of those, none returned. Their bodies often being found soon after. Drained of mana, of blood, of all bodily fluids. The upcoming Grail War making all parties that could contend with this horror hesitate. No one wanted to be the party that interfered with the Grail War. It would be to costly to their reputations.

And so, the killings continue. On the 13th day, all those chosen to attend the Grail War were in Tokyo, as the War was primed to begin that evening. On that particular evening, it was snowing...

She felt full.

She. The word had such strange connotation. She had born an 'it', as her creator constantly addressed her. It wasn't alive, not truly. It was a queer reflection of life. It could walk like them, speak like them, but it wasn't one of them. It's face was 'hard' it was told. Stiff. Lifeless. But it was lifeless. That was a reflection too. It was not born through the notions of love and biology. It was made at the whim of a man both lonesome and needing. Needing of approval. Needing of the touch of something resembling life. Lonesome by the virtue of his unwillingness to understand the rules of law and nature. Her creator had been a man who saw stop signs as green lights.

She was full. Not of love nor food. Not of joy or listlessness. The ichor that hung from her mouth, gently weeping back to the body before her, was proof of her brimming with the single gift that ran throughout all of life. She couldn't swallow anymore. Her breath came out in slow heaves. Her body was over flowing. Her face wasn't as stiff as it used to be. Perhaps she had been starved in her creators hands? Now that she was free of his direction, things like emotion came more naturally. Or perhaps it was her diet. Every person that she had partaken of thus far had their own unique flavor. It could be the spice of life that now ran through her body was filled with emotion of their former vessels. It made some sense to her.

In their last moments humans often thought of things they loved or missed. It was usually mixed with some fear. Either of her or Berserker's visage. She knew it wasn't her appearance but rather her sudden change in attitude. She was made to her creators preferences. Young, healthy, attractive. The clothes presented were that of a high school student. Both as a camouflage to blend in and to satisfy her creators own desires. And of Berserker, her mind wandered to the dark corner of the subway terminal. It was to late at night for trains to still be running, rather it was supposed to be closed off. Yet, tucked away behind the turnstiles, she had been led by a conductor who was more then willing to attempt to court her.

Her violet eyes slowly swept over the uniformed body before her. His neck was mostly torn open, the muscle and fat beneath spread out like someone had defaced the wall, floor, and man by smashing an overly ripe pomegranate onto them. She followed the blood that had leaked from her servants hand towards the dark corner that he was festooning with his caped form. In the dim light of the station, the dull silver of his funeral mask poked out of the inky blackness. His hands, adorned with wrappings and bandages, were clasped tightly in prayer. He did that often. When he committed any action that he saw as a sin, he would pray. She didn't understand why he did so. Faith was something that eluded her. She, due to her birth, knew of the spirits of the world and man. Gaia and Alaya.

“Berserker.” She spoke. Her own voice still surprising her with its high pitch. His mask shifted as he tilted his head to look at her. Whatever prayer he was saying stopped. She could see his shoulders tense under his cape.

“Am I a monster?” She asked plainly. Her voice didn't stutter or hitch. Her emotion remaining flat.

“Where does this question come from?” He asked. His voice sounded like gravel being gently shaken in a coffee tin. The nature of his affliction mixed with his death mask, she figured. Still, his voice was always softer than she expected. It was calming, even. She still felt there was a tinge of sarcasm behind his voice, as she could all but feel his stare boring into the corpse beside her.

“I feel obsessed. Its like a burning coal in my mind. Driving me to the same singular thought that I cannot dispel.” She brought a dainty hand up to her mouth, wiping away the life blood, wiping it away on the floor.

“This obsession with this insignificant thing,” she continued, drawing her thin legs up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them, “Called 'self'.”

For a moment, she appeared as nothing more then a high school girl in the throes of a grand moral quandary. She was a thing born from desire with no desire of her own. No past; no fate. She had nothing to define who she was as a person. All of the qualities that made her who she was, could crumble at any moment. And yet, it felt like an ache. This thing called 'self.' When she had first refused an order from her creator, he struck her in his rage. Since then she had only felt a strange fear, tingling in the back of her mind, an itch she couldn't reach that was now burning her skin. She was afraid of what would happen after she no longer existed.

A long and stiff silence passed over the two. She stood up, her sullen face reflected on the corpse she was leaving behind, a small sliver of herself with it. A notion that she was real. Berserker watched her, the gentleness of her movements that failed to convey the abomination that he called Master.

“No more a monster, then I.” He spoke softly, hoping it would give her some comfort.

The Tokyo Grail War

Firstly, let me say, thank you for showing interest in this RP, it means a lot to me.

Second, let me explain what this Rp is. The Tokyo Grail War (TGW) is a story driven Rp with a heavy focus on existential dread and the base human fear of losing ones self. Obviously it takes place in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, at the tail end of winter and during the sudden appearance of a serial killer. The goal is the same as any Grail War, to defeat or incapacitate the other Masters and claim the Grail for yourself. The story has several endings already planned depending on the actions of you, the players. This includes a good ending and a possible bad ending.

The Rp will be structured in three specific acts. The first act will focus on establishing the characters and plot, along with allowing for some early fighting. The second act will be the majority of the Rp, with an emphasis on investigation, external threats to the War, and character development. The final act will be the conclusion period and will determine the final outcome of the War itself. Everything is, more or less, loosely plotted together with several plot threads leading to several important story bumps. These aren't mandatory, though they will provide some backstory to the story characters.

That being said, I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has about the Rp, its plot, setting or pacing. If any of your questions might be something that is a little more in spoiler territory, please private message me or I might private message you if the answer would have possible spoilers.

Rules and Conduct;

Site rules:
The usual site rules are in place, as always. No sex, no naughty bits, porn, no harassment, and be respectful. Adult themes are fine for this story so long as you keep it tasteful and clean. No visual depictions of gore either.

Rp specific rules:
  1. OC and canon servants are both acceptable. OC servants need to try and follow the Fate lore as close as possible when designing your character. Canon servants who are historically existent past 1900 are OK, however OC servants cannot be from after ~1900. Do note that this also means that, for the sake of argument, a person was born in 1885 who became famous enough to be a servant in 1901, they would not be acceptable. Alter type characters are fine as well.
  2. No God mode, to an extent. The first act will not have character death unless requested by the player. After the first act, fights will come down to the writers skills, character attributes, skills, NP and a decision by me. If something seems like it should kill you, I will make the final decision, based on the previously mentioned criteria. I would prefer people try to survive until the finale but I will be impartial in my decision making.
  3. Controlling other peoples characters will not be acceptable in most circumstances. There is one obvious aside however, Master players can use a command seal to order a servant to do something against their will. This can be done three times and the more vague the command, the less likely it is to be viable. However, this is a case by case sort of thing. Servant with the ability to control other characters are acceptable, however the opposing character can resist and this will be decided on with a number of factors. (Alignment, personality, their opinion and trust with the other person, their own rough power level, etc..)
  4. Depending on how many people join, exceptions will be made for servants with not masters. This will be decided if it is necessary to do so once a few people have joined.
  5. Posting: Post at least once to twice a week, with two or more paragraphs, and if possible, decent grammar and spelling. I understand its not everyone's first language. Hell, half the time it seems like its not my first language. Some people might also post more often and that's okay too. Fights will be specifically ordered based on a small list of criteria (something I seem to love, criteria lists).

As it stands, I already have two people who are willing to join, one is a master and one is undecided on role. The role of Lancer, Lancers Master, Berserker and Berserkers Master are already filled by story relevant characters. At minimum, I am looking for enough people to have three servants and three masters, just to start. If I get a few people interested, I will update this with a list of who has joined.

Also, until we have enough people to join, take whatever class you want and we will decided which master is with which servant after everyone has made a character sheet. I'm doing it like this to allow for better interactions between the players and to create more unique circumstances between the characters.

If you have read all this, thank you. Sorry it took so long and more words then was probably necessary.

I hope I've piqued your interest.

First of all whoah, that intro was pretty damn tough, and second I'm pretty interested.

I have a Servant from a previous game but given they lived 1890 to 1937 might not work, was a Foreigner Servant who had a bunch of "Documents were wrong/Hid a lot of the Magus stuff from the world" to them. Also the GM was not the fan of the fact that if they ever called out the name of their Cat NP that something would interupt/block out the name from being heard. (If those vague clues are enough to who I'm referring to.)

I could change them to a Caster however if needed.

Ah ok, I tend to forget who was in what Dead RP's especially if they never got off the ground.

Yeah, just thinking through my History for some out there picks while also googling.
Gotz of the Iron Hand maybe as a Saber and Alcibiades as a Caster maybe a rider...though his story is far more about his insane charisma and luck. Also, a few of his notable feats are likely not PG-13 (Like what he did to all the Hermes Statues)

Just wanted to make sure. Good luck on finding a character. Hopefully you find someone good.

Siding towards Gotz more at the moment, though they don't have a notable Sword unless I go with something like the Sword is also the hand with logic of Weapon being an extension of the arm philosophy.

You are aware that you're saying this in the thread with people who are supposed to be your opponents, right?

Hey, sorry it took me so long to check in.
I'm still willing to run a master.

I mean its a RP so i was thinking that was going to be something we all put on our CS's. Didn't realize there were secrets.

Quick question

Will avenger class servants be allowed, if not that's okay.

Thats actually my fault. I figured people would assume that. I shouldn't have. Sorry. But I'm sure no one would try to use that information to get one over on you. I don't think anyone here is that kind of person.

In this case, no. I did add the roles for in the recruitment thread. Sorry about that.

No problem

Think I'll Run a master then.

Just for Clarity, what is the rules on the Divinity of servants? Anything less than full god ok? IE Full like Loki a no, but Demi is fine?
Got a few other examples not mentioned, A Explosive choice as a Archer/Caster, a Welcome choice as Rider/Caster, and Tricky Choice given it could be saber using the "Jack of all Trades" despite never using a sword, A Martial Caster or a Rider at a push.

Also, I'm fairly certain that PrismaDawn will be taking the Archer spot since she essentially has a character already made.

Gundam Watcher 27 Gundam Watcher 27
Welcome aboard!
