TV & Film Is the nightmare before Christmas a Halloween or a Christmas film?

I've always thought it was a Halloween film. I didn't even know it was up for debate really. Oh well, what are your thoughts?

I didn't even know it was a debate either. Does it surprise me? Not at all, it seems mostly everything is a debate these days. Well I think it is a bit of both although I wouldn't really watch it as one of my Christmas movies it still has themes in it.

You're right about that XD. People on the internet will argue about anything these days

It's probably mostly a Halloween film, but I wouldn't oppose watching it on Christmas, lol. Any excuse to watch it is a good one, really.

I think the beauty of it is that you can show it at both times and it makes sense.

But I always thought Halloween since it was kinda a "dark" take on Christmas and was about taking it over as a new holiday rather than about Christmas itself...

IMO it’s closer to a Christmas movie because the themes and plot revolve around the Christmas aspect of it. Of course, the story mostly takes place in Halloweentown, but Halloween itself is over after the first ten minutes or so. The rest of the movie focuses on Christmas. It’s a tossup though, so I’d say it’s appropriate to watch during both holidays.
