Heh, as long as it's not as fast as that insane Fairy Tail roleplay I'm a part of. I can barely keep up with that one.
I usually post twice a day, three times if I'm not working (which is like, every wednesday)
That's probably fine then. I think that's the average for the more important characters right now, anyways. 2-3 posts? Someone who is important, back me up?

And how do you feel about the author behind Harry Potter to be writing more books, after what, five years or more of not touching the subject? It seems a bit odd to me.
I don't mind it.

Especially when we've been waiting 5 years or so for another certain author to make a new book in a series we love so dearly. >_>

Oh good! -relieved-

Have you (or anyone) kept up with George's comments on his Not a Blog blog? New Years day he said he was "months" away of finishing Winds, if he was feeling inspired still. And he's canceled every writing and editing project, and even refused to accept an award at a Texas college till Winds is done.

I'm hopeful for a Winds December release.

meh, I won't consider them canon. The books, once you get past the nostalgia curve, are actually pretty poorly written literature as a whole (entertaining, but poor). I like some fan fictions better than what went down at the end of DH anyways.

I can probably go for more than 3 depending on how fast the other guy/gal posts, but 3's a pretty good number give or take 1 on average.

Yea... that's not coming out this year, or at least I don't expect it to. It would be a pleasant surprise though.

I have, yeah. I was hoping for it to come out before Season 6 at least. When he made his blog, I was crushed.

I too am hoping for a release later this year. Hopefully in September, or so.

I've began reading the first book online. I actually find it easier then reading the actual book. If I read it as fast as I do some series then I'll be done by Wind

I adore some of the fanfictions! A few seem so more realistic and detailed then the event's in the series

It's for a younger audience though, isn't it? I wouldn't expect it to be incredibly complex or with a rich prose. And really? Better FF? Damn. . But in the movies at least, I disliked strongly the ending.

Solid numbers. I usually can do two. Depends on how I feel.

I wanna say December just so we can get a tweet or post from him with the words "Winter is here". It'll be worth two months more of waiting

I did that for the D&E novellas, which was great because of how short they are. I tried that for the Silmarillion and it didn't work out too well for me. So cheers, hope you blitz through them

I am a person who has watched the show before reading the books.

First book was really good, but because it is SO close to Season 1- I found it a little boring here and there, so just keep on keeping on if you get a little bored.

A Clash Of Kings was a little better. A good bit was changed. Mostly to due with Daenerys and Arya.

A Storm Of Swords (omfg) -- this books is literally the best piece of literature I have read. And I read a lot of books. This book kind of caused me to prefer the books to the show.

Feast and Dance by themselves are good, but boring. They've got some great world building. But nothing much happens in certain storylines and you might get angry at them.

However, they are MUCH better when read together in the "A Feast With Dragons" reading order that I used on my reread.

I am the same. At the end of Season 4, I picked the show up and finished it before the season finale. Though you liked A Storm of Swords more than Dance of Feast? I dunno. I read those two before season 5, so it was all new to me. It felt special. Whereas ASoS always had that air of familiarity thanks to the show. But the Boiled Lather (I suppose similar to your Fear with Dragons,) makes everything great. I love the Jaime, Victarion, Jon, and Theon chapters.

I think I'll skim through the first book since I've seen season 1 then. This way I can catch any differences. I'm happy they differ in later books though just so I don't get to bored while watching the show

I love A Storm Of Swords. But, A Feast With Dragons almost rivals it. Why GRRM didn't release Feast and Dance just like that will always make me wonder. Sure it was cool splitting up characters by location- but... meh.

Cersei, Jaime, All Dorne, All Greyjoy, Jon, JonCon, and Barristan's chapters are the best, IMO.

Honestly, it's not even about complex diction/syntax or even symbolism and all that shit. There's just plot issues and a lot of other stuff that honestly wouldn't make sense if the adults in the books acted like adults (not talking about unbelievable magic here). Off the top of my head, an example: Everything Albus Dumbledore did (the fanfics really tear into him for his canonical actions and I love most if not all of it).

Also, now we just need someone to take control of the Starks XO

P.S. I'm going to make it that it was the Freys that Celena was supposed to marry into, like Genna who actually did in the canon. Random thing I wanted to throw in here.

Well, the Feast was already too large, according to his publishers. And then the Mereeneese knot hit him when writing Dance. Which basically was George struggling for years to get Dany's chapters, Tyrion's, Toad's(For spoilers sake,) Barristens, and Victarion's timed correctly and making them fit.

The battle outside Mereen between the Yunkai, the Greyjoys, and the Unsullied was mostly done and ready for Dance, but that book got too large as well.

At a certain point we just have to suspend our disbelief. In a book I read years ago, Term Limits, the head of the NSA was allowed to be shot dead by a rogue Navy Seal in front of the President. Just because the NSA Head was killing political rivals and framing the Navy Seal (Who also was killing dirty politicans in Washington). Maybe I don't understand how the books did it, but it keeps an air of mystery, Dumbledores actions that is. I can look past him not telling everyone about Snape's double crossing or anything like that.

Yeah. Plus, wasn't there supposed to be a 5 year time-skip? You can really tell that the was originally going to be one after Storm; because all of the characters' final chapters seem like there would be.

E.g: Tyrion going to Essos, Daenerys ruling Meereen, Arya becoming a Faceless Man, Jon being Lord Commander...

After "The Battle Of Fire", which I'm sure will be great, I am hoping we never see Meereen again- but I am very doubtful.

*shrug* That's far from the only thing Dumbledore did, but the point's moot. If it was just that I would be fine, but after someone pointed out all the other stuff, I was forced to agree that while I get great enjoyment from the HP series, it's not written particularly well.

George played with the idea before Feast, IIRC. He was just not comfortable with many of the main cast being so young. Something he's admitted a few times I believe. I'm glad he went against it, as too many plot lines would be left hanging and it never did much for me.

Have you read Untangling the Mereense knot essay? I really began to appreciate Dany's Dance chapters more. Sure, I wish she would go. Which she will in mid Winds, I'd bet. But there seems to be unfinished business in the city for her.

Do you think the author will have learned from her mistakes and make a better story for her next few books? I have half a mind it's going to be a quicker paced Harry Potter.

I actually haven't.

I've heard people rave about it on Reddit. But I have never actually got around to reading it myself. I definitely will when I get a chance!
