Joey lets Carter lead him, staring up at her with big brown eyes. His little hand is very cold to the touch. And he's all bone.

Sean watches Jason through the window, then gruffly replies, "It's Sean." Quentin pokes his head around to peer inside as well. He waves, a big grin growing on his face. "Quentin too. Hi.", he adds.

"Holy..." Jason said, throwing down the M16A2 and putting his hand on the knob to open the door, but he then announces "There's some really gnarly stuff in here, you two. Sean, I know you can handle it, Quentin, you stay outside" Jason said, and he opened the door, the whiff of corpse and rot going to Quentin and Sean's noses instantly.

Carter moves to the closet and scoots herself in, smiling gently at the boy. She quickly realized he was nakedand quickly took off her flannel and put it over the boy. "Cover yourself with that." She told him, adjusting her tanktop to fit more properly. "I'm.... Max." Carter said lying still. Yes, the kid was a child, but no one ca be trusted. "Come sit with me." She said, patting the empty space next to her.

Joey lets the flannel shirt fall to rest on his small shoulders. His big frightened eyes follow her hand motions. He walks over and sits beside her on the floor obediently, then continues to stare up at her. The smell in the room and on the boy are awful. He looks down at himself and starts to play with a string on the jacket absently. "I Joey...", he says in a tiny little whisper.

Sean ignores the smell and climbs inside. He wavers some, and puts his hand on the wall for support. "You did all this?", he asks, his brows furrowed as he looks around the room.

Quentin backs away from the window, retching. He also uses the wall to stabalize himself while he vomits. The little girl is still outside as well.

Carter didn't mind the smell. In fact, she completely ignored it, not realizing there was one. She was to caught up in her own world. "Well, hi Joey. What do you want to play?" Carter asks him, then realizing her may be hungry. "Are you hungry?" Carter asks, taking off the backpack and making sure not to hit the boy. She pulled out a bag of ramen and opened it, passing it to the boy.

"Nah some crazy girl that was being held captive here did" Jason said, pointing to the black woman with a bullet hole in her head "I killed her. It's safe now, just you, me, Sean, Quentin, Carter, and a kid that's the nephew of the crazy girl" he said. "By the way, the girl you call Maxine? Her name's Carter. She...seems a bit off at the moment, but she's upstairs with the kid"

Wow, thanks.... ;- ;) )

Sean nodded, taking in the scenery with tired eyes. "I heard her tell you." He says, then cocks his head at Jason. "Before we go back to the way things were before I need you to know something."

Joey grabs the ramen with quick little hands. He rips it open carelessly, and starts to eat the block of hard noodles as they are. Like a starved animal. There are other wrappers in the small closet. As well as several random objects. Including a small gold necklace. And feces.

"Yeah, Sean, what's up?" Jason said, slicking back his hair. "Please, help me." He heard Nissa speak in his head. He refused to feel remorse.

Sean was still leaned against the wall, "I left you. When you left camp, I left and didn't plan on coming back. I saw you in here and I left again.", he says, watching Jason's face intently for a reaction. "I don't feel good about it." Sean sighs, rubbing his eyes, "But truth is...the only reason I came back here at all was because those kids wanted to." He looks up at Jason again, with tired blue eyes and a deep frown. "Frankly, you're dangerous. And I don't think you make good decisions when it comes to handling people. Maybe I don't either. Point is, son, if we're going to stick together...as a group...you're not going to be in charge."

"Then I guess we're not going to be in a group together" Jason said with a smile. "The kids can take their pick of who to go with and part ways. To be honest, I saved the life of two children today, one maybe 4 and the other 13, so if you don't think I'm fit to lead a group, you're not either. You're right, I am dangerous, but if you really thing I would ever attack someone in the group, you're mentally ill. So, you and whoever wishes to accompany you part ways with me and whoever wants to stay with me, and we will let you leave. If we come across you again, then we cannot guarantee your safety, but we will only attack if you do first. So, lets get Carter down here and Quentin, Carter, that other girl and the little one can decide who to go with. Sound good?"

Sean watches Jason as he talks, and nods when he finishes. He crosses his arms, still leaning against the wall. "Sounds good.", he agrees gruffly. That went far better than he had expected it to. In fact, he had gotten exactly what he wanted. He had had no desire to stick around Jason. No desire at all. He felt that the younger man could be trusted with lives. After all, protection was what he was built for. Among other less savory things. Sean simply didn't want to be a part of whatever Jason was going to get them into later. He felt in his gut that the carnage inside the Safeway was going to be a pattern with him. There were many things he wanted to say to Jason, but instead he stepped away from the wall, "I'll help you clean this place up if you want. Let the young one's get something to eat and some rest...then the two of us can sleep." He looks over at Jason and smiles some, "God knows we both need a drink too."

"I don't want to stay here for the night, in case there are others out there associated with this place that might come back seeking redemption. I suggest we get moving as soon as possible, make camp when we're a safe distance away from here, and then we'll spend our second and final night together." Jason said reasonably "Also, before you go, I would like the M1911A1 and the ammo I gave you. If you really want to stay here, we can burn the bodies and garrison the place from the roof and see if anyone comes around, and if no one, we can base here until you guys leave"

Quentin is watching and listening quietly from the other side of the open drive-thru window. His nose was burning from the smell of all the gore, both inside and out. There were a few zombies headed their way, and he was being attentive. To the dead, but not to the small girl what so ever. He had the Colt in his hands, and he couldn't believe what he'd heard Sean say, "...you're not going to be in charge." Not too long ago Sean was telling him that he couldn't go on much longer. Now, when things could be ok, he was provoking Jason? He held the gun, his hands shaking. His eyes flickered to the corpses, stummbling through the piles of bodies outside the Safeway toward them. The pistol was below the window's edge but ready, just in case. He didn't know what he would do, necessarily. Or if he could do anything. When he looked back, both men were smiling at eachother. Quentin relaxed. A snarl came from close behind him. "Wh...s**t! Sean! Jason!", he cried out.

Sean nodded, still smiling. He opens his mouth to tell Jason that he doesn't actually have it, when Quentin called out. Quickly, Sean ran over to the window. "Quentin?", he hissed, looking out. There were a few corpses walking in the road, a few in the parking lot. Several more were rammbling toward them from the woods. And another had a hold of the young man. Boney fingers were wrapped tightly in his long hair, and he was just barely holding it off. Both hands were pressed against his face, flaked black polish coverd fingernails sinking into soft cheeks. It's teeth were snapping, clotted blood dripping from them. Inches from his face. Quentin's eyes were closed tightly, and so was his mouth. His face covered in blood. The gun lie on the pavement a few feet from him.

"Sean, gather the kids and run in the opposite direction, I'll hold them at bay and meet up with you where we first met!" Jason yelled to Sean raising his M16A2 and firing with cold efficiency, and knowing that he was too late, knowing Quentin was bitten, Jason fired into one Walker's head, another's, and then the alive Quentin, putting him out of his misery. Jason turned about 30° to the parking lot which was relatively close and he fired 9 times, killing 6 walkers, the 3 spare rounds hitting the neck or shoulder of a walker. After this, he turned 45° to the forest, firing fully automatically now.

Sean didn't listen. He grabbed one of the other weapons lying about the room, off of one of the dead men, and started firing it as well. At the other corpses coming toward them. There were several others coming from behind the building where Quentin's attacker had come from. Since they were closest, Sean took them out first. Even though it was dark and he was so tired he never missed his mark. He growled as he took them out one by one.

Upstairs, the little boy Joey looks up from his half eaten block of noodles toward the sound of gunfire and screams with wide eyes. He whimpers, and looks over at Carter.

"Sean, please, just go with the kids! If you guys stay, we all die, if you go, I either die or escape! Do you want those kids to die, Sean? They need you, they can't go out on their own, and if you don't go with them, they will die here! Get them out of here, or stay and I'll go with them, but the kids cannot stay here!" Just then, a horde of over 1,000 came out of the woods, shambling toward Safeway. "Mother of God!" Jason yelled. "Wasting the ammo is pointless, let's get the fuck out!" Jason said, lowering his rifle and running into the house and upstairs, and he looked in the closet "Carter, we need to go, now!"

Sean followed Jason, his heart racing. He slammed the window closed, and looked for Bellamy who wasn't there. Where is she?, he though with panic, but barred the window anyway. Before continuing upstairs he dragged a large metal retail shelf in front of the window and grabs several weapons that catch his eye. "Jesus Christ, I've never seen so many! Where are they coming from?", he growls, once he reaches the others. Tearing his flask from his breast pocket, he takes a long swig of Bourbon. His hands are shaking.

"The same group attacked where I was stationed. They came all the way from Allentown! All that gunfire...dammit" Jason said back to Sean, then he looked back at Carter and Joey. "We need to leave!" He yelled, and he looked back at Sean. "Find an escape route, we can't use the front door, somewhere we can exit discreetly and run right into the forest. If we try to hold up here we'll die"

Joey looks up at Jason, holding his noodles and swimming in Carter's flannel. Sean blinks down at the little boy, his eyes filled with sorrow. "Let me carry the boy." He holds out a gun he picked up for Carter, then picks the shaking Joey up off of the floor. He holds him close to his chest, turning to look out the office window. It is on the second floor and the roof stretches out beyond it. "We'll have to get out through there. The rest are all boarded up.", he says. Hoping there is a ladder or something so that they can get down.

(A horde of a thousand has attacked Safeway, and the group needs to get the fuck out. Jason is holding his hand out to Carter to help her up)
