Fandom Pokemon: RLYKEWLTITLE

Mmm, I'm interested, I'll stick around and see what happens! Best of luck. (: would love to contribute if assistance is needed.

Thank you very much!!! <3 Pokemon roleplays always take a lot of planning, but there's a tournament plot that I really want to work with, and I think a battle system will be necessary for the characters taking part.

Would be nice if we could have everyone agree to plan out the battles...

If worst comes to worst battles could be played out on Showdown.

If nothing else, I'm actually enjoying making this system. It really won't be that bad, I promise. And there's still a chance that it might not get used at all, if there's not a lot of characters in the roleplay. It all depends on how much interest there is after Easter.

Hooray for more interest! What sort of things would you be interested in seeing?

  • Would you all prefer more or less battle-intense plots?
  • Lots of exploration, or sticking to one or two main areas?
  • A cast that's more "you all meet at an inn" or are specifically stating to be working together and already know each other?
  • Guns - yea or nay?
  • Snagem mechanic/plot? (basically, a machine that allows the wearer to capture pre-owned Pokemon?
  • Premade character roles or free-for-all?
  • Simple profile or more detailed/complex?
  • Legendary Pokemon as extremely rare Pokemon, or actual divine entities?

  • Less battle intense
  • Lots of exploration and world building
  • Meeting at a random time and sticking together and deprecating randomly (like say a group fallout)
  • Yes to guns I love dark Pokemon stories (because guns=dark apparently)
  • Sure, but I never understood how throwing a poke ball at a owned Pokemon doesn't work
  • Free-for-all
  • Please explain
  • Divine entities

Please explain
Very short simple profiles that require next to no information (good for quickly making characters and exploring personality and background throughout the story, but bad for quality control), or longer, more in-depth profiles that take longer to push out, but require planning your character out more.

Ooh, audience participation!

  • Not really fussed either way :)
  • Again, not really fussed either way.
  • You'll be beginning to get the picture by now but, once again, not really that fussed.
  • Yay-nay (aka: see above answers.) Although, personally, I think Pokemon could be used just as well as gun substitutes; allows for you to be more creative with threatening and such.
  • As somebody not particularly familiar with xD and Colloseum, Imma say no Snagem.
  • Not particularly fussed.
  • Detailed.
  • Not particularly fussed.

As you'll have probably gathered, I'm just generally craving a Pokemon RP along the lines of your general direction, and that you ask these questions at all gives me confidence in your GM abilities anyhow to just run with whatever you want :')

less battle-intense plots!

Lots of exploration!

A cast that's more new to each other, but perhaps with a common goal rather than just "Met at an inn" Like "Shit, there's a boulder blocking the cave entrance again, we'll have to go around..."

Guns - nay! Fuck guns, it's Pokemon!

Snagem mechanic/plot? (basically, a machine that allows the wearer to capture pre-owned Pokemon? Mahh, Iunno, I'd say no, but it was a cool bad guy team.

Free for aaaall~

Simple profile or more detailed/complex? Either, I can do both

Legendary Pokemon as extremely rare Pokemon, or actual divine entities? Extremely rare, pretty much like they are in the games, only one exists. I'd ay they'd be like a phoenix, cloning themselves when they die, therefore not going extinct and keeping the singular member theme.

Yes, yay audience participation!! I have a few more questions:

  • Preferences for a region?
  • Would you be interested in possibly playing as an Evil-Team-That's-Totally-Not-Rocket member?
  • Should fossil Pokemon be allowed? Restricted? Excluded?
  • EDIT: What are some of your favorite plots/aspects from the Pokemon franchise?

Preferences for a region? Not particularly, the older ones are more widely known though. I think Kanto would be a nice simple shout

Would you be interested in possibly playing as an Evil-Team-That's-Totally-Not-Rocket member? Hmm... Yes. I like "totally-not-evil"

Should fossil Pokemon be allowed? Restricted? Excluded? Don't see why not, the fossil regeneration program is featured in every game, and in more recent games it's really common for trainers to just turn up with a fossil and be all "Yo, revive this for me" and the museum to be all "Yeah no bother, that'll be $30." or something.

Plus... All praise. :helix:

Yay, more questions to answer 'not particularly fussed' to! xD

  • Johto/Kanto allows for us to travel more easily between the two regions, but otherwise I have no particular preference between regular series regions, again not really being much of a fan of Orre though.
  • Maybe. I have a character who was one of my first ever characters whose surprisingly non-Gary-Stu-like all things considered who I might use depending on whether you'd be fine with his backstory, otherwise, creating something from scratch, I'd be interested in playing someone perhaps affiliated with the evil team but not fully behind them, like them being blackmailed, maybe, or secretly involved with the evil team.
  • Fossils: Providing they were properly found (or perhaps given to trainers akin to starters).

I have a question for you, actually: would we be playing as new trainers or already established ones?

Also, is that really a helix fossil emoticon 0.o

EDIT: Dagnabbit with your edit! Anyhow, I always rather liked the Mystery Dungeon plots. Not that that's a particularly useful point, but still. And manga plots seem good too, but I know you're already working to that kind of tone xD

Already established ones. This particular roleplay will not be a gym crawl - it won't be about following trainers through their journey to become a Pokemon master. It's specifically about your characters getting involved in and either trying to profit from or undermine the operations of (and this is a tentative name) Team Dominus, which practices activities such as rigging tournaments, smuggling rare and non-regional Pokemon, bribing local officials and gym leaders, etc. If people were interested in characters knowing each other beforehand, I would set the story up as most of your protagonists being members of a Pokemon Interpol team, but out of the people who have responded so far, I think we'll be going for a free-range cast.

Remind me to add a Helix Fossil cult.

Also, I forgot to say to you Sky - I like your suggestion of Kanto/Johto. I think Johto has a very mysterious atmosphere due to the introduction of the Unown in Gen2, and I think exploring ancient Pokemon mysterious could be a fun alternate direction to take the roleplay in if the organized crime bit pans out.

So spooky. Maybe I can incorporate mysterious radiowaves into a B-plot that doesn't involve forcing evolution.

  • If I have an answer, it's not coming to me atm (I should have been in bed an hour ago)
  • Yes, you can catch Pokemon in this roleplay. I have catch rates for the four basic balls, based on health of the Pokemon being caught. Special balls are too much math and won't be included in the system. I'm just gonna like... call gameplay/story segregation there.

Can I use a premier ball, cause it's so useless I'm kidding, but they're honestly the worst poke balls

Haaaa... actually, the premier balls have the same 1x rate as Pokeballs, they just have a different design, so whatever.

A bump - who all is still interested? I'm working on the plot outline now, the battle system has been pushed to the backburner while I figure out some things.
