Minor question, but where exactly on the map are you guys atm? Just wondering for a "friend"

Safety Hammer Safety Hammer

Currently the crew is on the floating rock that is (was) Kraiven, but I can't recall if it was ever said where exactly it was hovering over. Over the ocean, but dunno what ocean.

Boosting this for Kylesar1 Kylesar1 because I think he may have missed you, notification system being dumb and all

We are in the skies physically, but on the map we are located at the strait between Tacrof and Grioles

The crew will be stopping at a city in Tacrof (Andouphe) and then they'll be headed north through that strait and stopping in Khunda. As for the attack in Padtoles, since it happened at night while our events happened in the day, I'll have that attack happen over the 3 day time skip, so it's something that'll be addressed while setting sail for Khunda

So the events will go as follows
  • Dustoff
  • 3 Day Time Skip
    • The Padtoles attack will happen during this time
  • Stop in Andouphe
    • Crew Shuffle
    • Adonis Confrontation
    • Board the seaships
  • Set Sail for Khunda

Nope. Perfectly fine. It's the natural meeting place

I honestly wasn't expecting to make Nancy's exile be a character-defining moment for Ves, but putting her on the path to fight for Nancy seems interesting, especially since it'll mean she works with Elaina and Elaina is on actively friendly terms with Evangeline, who hates Ves because she's Daedric

I'm delighted that we get a double dose of Ves (here and Guild) because I like her character. And I enjoy her and Elaina's bickering, which I anticipate much more of now that they're in cahoots.

For personal reasons, it was hella cathartic watching Ves go sicko mode over Nancy and it made me feel better about the whole situation, LOL. It's been kinda frustrating having Vlad lowkey stand up for the Goddess after she absolutely fucked Nancy like that, though it makes sense for his character. I said I had sympathized with the Goddess, and I still do, whilst giving her the benefit of the doubt. When you said Nancy was the favored child because he was Nullified AND Exiled based on the Goddess's actions, that made me suspect that this whole thing is a massive overcompensation and will backfire in making her look better to the Council. If Vlad is correct and she's trying to protect her image to protect the bulk of her followers in the long run, I get it. If it's just to save her image, then uh, fuck her, lol.

I had originally said becoming Null and separated from the Goddess was the worst thing that could happen to him... before I knew he was getting punished for it. ESPECIALLY before how Goddess conducted herself during the hearing. Now being Null is the silver lining, like Ves said. This entire situation will be so traumatic for him that I honestly don't expect he'll want to return to the Goddess afterwards. Not impossible, but I have other endgame possibilities in mind I'm leaning towards. I'm resisting the urge to go into detail why, but I know it'll come up in pieces very soon now that Ves knows what happened. This is really good for him, because he was content to let no one know his struggles and bear the burden himself. Though it'll also be good for him to work with Elaina, someone who doesn't care about him as a person but is too invested in his life to avoid.

Sorry if you don't care for my ramblings, I just really like talking about this stuff. It also gets it out of my head so I'm not thinking about it constantly, lol. I like hearing your thoughts on things too, though I understand if it's not your cup of tea/you're too busy with IRL stuff to devote time to things not the actual RP.

I like talking about the RP, so your ramblings are fine. It's always a spark of inspiration to pass thoughts back and forth. Ultimately, the Goddess is better off doing what she did since she IS a Goddess over probably the largest following on the planet given her dual-hatting and immense domain. She's doing the correct thing as a God at large, but it means having to fuck Nancy over

I was about to explain the reasons why the Goddess can't give Nancy a new body, but that'll be revealed in due time. And it's more reasonable than "I am not allowed to make Lung-Borne Locathah anymore." Ves ain't having it

She's in a weird place of having to appeal to the Counsel, but she doesn't know how much her actions in claiming Kraiven and staving off the attack will play into the Counsel's judgement regarding the infraction. Or how the aftermath regarding Nancy will play into it. It may very well be an overcompensation that'll backfire. I'll definitely write out the Tribunal though

Yeah. I ain't saying Nancy shouldn't be punished in general, as it would set a bad precedent to let severe crimes like that go. But Exiling him seems very extreme for what's almost a victimless crime. Destroying the castle wasn't an emergency, as you said, and in the end, only Nancy himself and the Goddess's pride were hurt as a result. But maybe if there HAD been big collateral, the appropriate punishment would be death/Universal Undesirability, I dunno.
It's not even so much the being punished that'll fuck up Nancy (though that's a big part). It's specifically her conduct. If it had been approached like, "I can't allow this crime to go, I don't want to do this but I have to punish you," he'd be able to make peace with it better. But instead she... switched, as has been demonstrated many times. She gaslit him, threatened to take away his life's work over perceived insolence, was even hostile in a few places (DO NOT yell at the boy, he will cry). And THAT sets a precedent that how well Nancy is treated depends on if he's made a mistake/done something wrong. There's no room for error, lest he face a Goddess that's far too reminiscent of the man who robbed him of a childhood. He's effectively re-traumatized, after 200+ years of healing from it.
I'll leave it there, because Nellie will bring this up when Goddess speaks with her. She will not let this matter go.
The whole matter is deeply tragic. Why am I so masochistic.

That reminds me of when you said a God who takes interest in him might offer him a new body (presumably not Lungborne given the rules) in return for his devotion. The Gods in general taking interest in him is a point of interest to me, and I wanna see if he's given offers (or gets kidnapped, lol). For the narrative purpose of testing his faith as well, or in general making him think about what it is he wants. Also I keep chuckling at the idea of Nancy putting up a "No Solicitors" sign on his future office.

I'm assuming that Divinity Law is as harsh on Gods as it is on Followers, shown via Vlad's dialogue. I don't have to personally like, but so long as it's not favoring the ones in power then at least it's a fair system. Nellie will bitch about it nonstop, though (unless that's a general Heresy offense, in which case Vlad will have to shut her up nonstop).

BTW, about Elaina's library extension... mayhaps Nellie would be allowed to visit Nancy? Not requesting that Goddess allow it off the bat, just asking if it's a possibility. I assume there would have to be a reason to justify it, or Nellie would have to earn it. With the stipulation that she can't actively assist Nancy in finding a cure, I'm figuring.

Well utilizing your Gift to destroy your God's gift is pretty egregious. Nigh treasonous. Under normal circumstances BEST CASE scenario, he'd have been stripped of his Divine Favor not unlike how Ghaznud was for working with Baroness. However, since he's Null, stripping him of his favor is moot so the next was either stripping him of skills/memories or exiling him. Stripping of skills is too harsh so that's a no go

Considering the circumstances and not just the crime itself, the appropriate sentence is probably a 5-10 year exile from Orivae. That exile to mean he would be able to come back regardless of if he's Null. The overstep is that it's a COMPLETE exile with a conditional attached. One is basically getting sent away while your home is renovated. The other is getting booted from your home until you cure AIDS

It'll be a thing if the Goddess can be convinced. It'll exist regardless but whether or not it's a backdoor deal will determine if Nellie will be able to use it with stipulations.

Oh, absolutely. What Nancy did was a gross overstep, especially considering there were several avenues of escape. All he had to do was... literally anything but what he did. It pretty much was a useless act as Goddess said, because Nellie was fixing to leave anyway.
I'm giving him any grace only because 1) he's a civilian not trained to deal with these high-stress situations, and 2) he's several layers of mentally fucked, thus prone to bad decision-making. Not that it excuses anything, just puts it in a different light to me. Though he did know about the Law and how Favor works from studying the texts, and that doesn't paint a good look for him.

Speaking of which, that's sort of my headcanon for why Nancy didn't have Favor 200 years ago. Either he didn't want or ask for it, or he wasn't really fit to be among Goddess's higher ranks because of liability. She did say she couldn't bring him back into his ranks so long as he sees himself undeserving of life, and he struggled with those issues even back then. And in Steven's narrative, he compared having Favor to enlisting as a soldier. I see it as no different from denying applicants because of preexisting conditions. He got the Favor now because of the emergency (he has the merit to earn it so it wouldn't have been rules-breaking, there was just the concern of his mental health). Those are my thoughts, anyway.

But back on topic, yeah, THAT'S what felt kind of off to me. Not the exile in general, the "go cure this incurable disease or you'll never see your loved ones again" part of it. Like, damn Goddess. Do you want this guy to off himself? She's gotta have a ton of faith in that boy. It's kinda sweet, in a messed up way.

I've wondered about this actually. How do followers get away with that kind of stuff, without their God noticing? It's clear that Gods aren't omnipresent on Earth, but during communes they have access to thoughts and memories to a degree. Or is it not a matter of if they find out, just borrowing time until they do?

Since Orivae is a Neutral Zone, she's not Omnipresent just yet. Omnipresence is in Holy/Daedric zones like Cordelia or Elmar or the Trench or Abyss. The access to thoughts/memories are done when they enter a Holy/Daedric area of the God they're supposedly faithful to. If She doesn't know, she doesn't know

Mariana needs to either go there herself, or send an Angel to give a report about the goings-on. Remember: Mariana is experimental. All of her shenanigans are subject for study

BUT I got a MASSIVE important plot point, but it'll depends on what you do with Nancy

I'm gonna start renaming some of Laszlo's moves.
Renaming? What are you renaming? Let's hear it

Got it. Thanks for the clarification.

Ooh, you don't say? Is it secret? If not, we can discuss in DM.
I'll develop the idea in my mind first, and see what you do with Nancy. The reason is that I don't want to make the tribunal a character defining moment for Mariana if it can come later. Then again, if it happens, it happens and I'll adjust

I've created the thread for the Investigation Arc. Both that and this RP's next arc will start after that 3 day time skip, really to start at the same time.
While Elaina will be around, the main Basenji affiliated character in that RP will be a proxy for Elaina. In fact, it's one of her slaves named Josephine Warren. Her story will be kind of in the same vein of Lattice, but actually worse in ways since Demi actually loves Lattice

I WAS gonna introduce her and have her bond with Lattice and Kersact for their situations, with the old man being smitten with her before he was locked in the vault........BUUT I think she'll fit better in the Rebuild RP

So the characters I'll be mainly using for that RP will be Arnold Asella and Josephine Warren, and Josephine will be the manager for Elaina's Library in Orivae. I'm retiring GP as a character (he just didn't work out. I'll have him just disappear from Kraiven/Orivae without a trace).

Happy vacay though. Don't feel like you gotta keep posting. Unless posting is part of the vacay. Either way, hope you get a chance to relax after being abroad.

The berserk effect of the scale, is that active or passive? It's the difference between Ves just being mad and Ves actively seeking revenge. On what's maybe an extreme scale

I imagine it's a passive, continuous low chance of triggering. Maybe that chance increases or becomes active when the scale is broken, now that I think of it.
