For a quick example, here's my character!

Maggie "Babyface" Bishop is a young woman who first got involved with the Mafia while searching for her missing father. However, she soon fell on financial hard times, and exploited her talent - and soon, passion- for anything incendiary, becoming an arms dealer to make ends meet. Despite her 20 years of age, her appearance generally makes her seem quite younger. Despite her situation, her original cause still stirs occasionally...

Drop a comment if you have any questions!
Love,
Maggie

Finally, a mafia RP~
Question- any chance of expanding the cast, so there could potentially be different groups (Italians, Russians, Yakuza, ...) with associated relationships/rivalries/etc.?

I will be initially focusing on the Italian Mob, but expansion is by no means improbable!

You got me, I'm interested!

Are we keeping this realistic? As in we need to know how actual Italian mafia works?

P.S. this is the first rp I'm joining after learning about this site just two days ago, so I'm still a newbie.

I'm going for a more film noir interpretation.

Detective Gordon Gunner is a classic noir detective with a thirst for adventure and case solving. What problems he can't solve with talking, he prefers to slug out with his fists. He may not be the best cop on the force, but he is determined to bring down the mafia. The only thing threatening to stand in his way is his reckless behavior. He tends to get a bit mouthy when he has a drink or two in him, letting his short temper take control. He has a nasty addiction to sarcasm, and impatience for anyone who doesn't respond quick enough.

I do love a noir character! ;)

Im interested in a Mob Boss character. I've roleplayed one before and I love it. Count me in.

Of course! Would you mind telling me a bit about the character you have in mind?
Jack "Diamond" Rolling runs an underground mafia. It's a "Fight Club" type mafia in the sense that anyone could be in the mob and you wouldn't know it. Your neighbor, your English professor, etc. He needs no introduction as everyone has heard his name but rarely sees his face. He spends most times cooped up in his estate, planning heists and hits on other mobs. Jack was born in Sandy Shores, California to Dusty and Delilah Rolling. In June of 2000 Jack’s Uncle asked him to come work for him in the City of LA as a driver. The whole summer, Jack’s job was to deliver crates of narcotics and black market weapons to made men throughout the city of LA. That September, Jack swore under the oath of o·mer·tà. "Join us and you will be made. You will earn money and you are not to steal anymore." At the age of 19 Jack had met his soon to be wife, Roselina. After two years of marriage, Roselina gave birth to twins- Julian & Jamie. With Jack’s riches, the new family quickly moved into an estate located on the border of Vinewood Hills and Richman. For the 10 years the two of them were married, Jack had kept his business life a secret, describing his profession as a, “Waste Management Consultant.” The lie soon tore their marriage apart when the LSPD arrested Jack outside of his estate for distribution of controlled substances and blackmarket weapons. The LSPD was given an anonymous tip that Jack was smuggling items inside of his estate. It was soon discovered that Jack’s own brothers had ratted him out. In 2002, while he was in prison, Jack’s wife filed for divorce. She gained custody of both children and moved to Vespucci Beach. After serving 17 years in penitentiary, Jack was released on good conduct- to continue his life as a made man. Within a week of his release, he was able to track down each and every member of his old mafia family and murder them in cold blood. In March of 2019 Jack met a new business partner. The two quickly became close friends, robbing jewelry stores and supplying narcotics and blackmarket weapons to new members of the city. After growing tired of picking plants and robbing for diamonds, Jack decided to create an alias and rebuild his once beloved mafia. It was then that he became the man known as “Diamond Jack.”

Welcome to the Family!

Ardell Perez is the result of an incident involving a mafia boss and a prostitute. Despite having to grow up on the streets, he could never build his body to fighting form and was always compared to a bird or rat, and beaten and robbed. Instead of sulking, he embraced it. Through the stages of life, his info dealing business grew alongside him. Now a grown man, he runs a vast circle with moles in every mafia and police force in town. Besides selling information, he stocks up on weapons and illegal narcotics. Ardell's one rule is to handle business face-to-face, just to know who he's working with. He earned his fortune through playing on both sides of the same coin, and despite the number of gang wars and casualties that has caused, Ardell will happily do it again. Whether it be greedy mobs or a justice-hungry cop, Ardell will always supply them with whatever info they need... for a price, of course.

I’m certainly interested in this. Forgive my quick character concept and if he doesn’t fit be sure to let me know. I have many more!

Don’t close your eyes around this one. Diamond Jack thinks he simply rolled back into town, and took back what was his? The thought makes Ezio laugh. The Gattone family filled that vacuum quite well, running the city’s underground with an elegance only true Italian-Americans could deliver. A place where he and his cousins had control in the palms of their hands. Things were strong, great even. Which is why Ezio was so damn confused when they ran for the hills. They abandoned Ezio in this city with this fraud of a man. One who seemed to brute force his way through life. Pitiful.

But if there was one thing Ezio considered himself expert at, it was the art of betrayal. He joined Diamond Jack’s ranks, sitting quietly as he made his way up the ranks to the role of Captain. The closer he sits to the boss, the truer the aim of his gun gets. And Ezio won’t stop until the city belongs to his family once more.

Or he dies trying.

I love this character! Welcome!

I was thinking someone who is young on the force. Someone who has a very idealized view of what policing is like, is fresh from the academy, shiny boots and all. And then he finds the underworld. Where people chop each other into bits and feed them to dogs or send them screaming to the bottom of rivers in cement shoes. I want the officer (working on a name and other character aspects.) to be both disgusted with the nature of true crime while feeling morally compromised by officers who, typically in this setting, shoot first and prove someone guilty later.

He would be naive, but not stupid. Charismatic and outgoing, if not a little annoying, but someone who can take things seriously when need be. Strengths would be his ability to make others laugh and see the lighter side of things with his weakness being his lack of experience and his naivety.
