Experiences The Weirdest Thing You've Googled for a RP

Daisie

Strangely regular (better than the usual bizarre!)
Roleplay Type(s)
Not sure what prefix this should have, and I'm 100% sure no one cares.

Everyone's Googled some pretty weird stuff for their RPs, from what I've seen around here. The darker the RP, the darker the search, as well.
My partner and I were in a situation where their character was sick and going to die very soon. They found the cure for it in a flower, but not concentrated enough. We decided the answer to this problem would be perfume since it's pretty much concentrated flower juice. So I had to Google if you'd die if you drank perfume. I tried to Google if you'd die if you injected it but for some reason nobody's been stupid enough to do that yet

I've also Googled quite a bit about CPR, and learned that it works a lot less than the movies would lead you to think. I also learned that it also, more often than not, breaks ribs in the process.

So what are some of your weirdest Google searches for the sake of RP, and what odd facts did you learn from them? Enlighten me! Fun facts are always somewhat entertaining.

- How to make aquaponics systems : Specifically how to grow tilapia in tubs and use their water to grow plants.

- Cat genetics to determine colors of kittens for a cat character

- the total population of the entire US and also specific regions of the US

- Tortoise reproduction

- I think it’s called rotational grazing, basically how to rotate gazing animals in a pasture to keep soil quality

- Sacred animals to a few Greek Gods

- Animal totems

- Chicken superstitions. ; if you have a black egg and you roll it over someone’s back it chases away evil spirits

"How to make a bomb?" (FBI pls no)

"What is the necessary velocity to send a rock into space?" (Followed by "World Record Baseball Pitch")

"Can Catholic Priests have beards?"

"How to make Sake"

"Bones"

"Acronym Creator"

Well my character was asked to attend a wedding they didn't want to go to, there was an ex involved but, they felt they needed a "valid" reason for declining and paying tribute to a good rug just sounded like a better use of their time. It was also just so bizarre I had to use it. As for National Nap Day, that was just my character being lazy and not wanting to help his brother move. As well as my own personal joy of discovering all sorts of these random holidays. Basically my character is a lazy, jerk and needed some ridiculous reasons to do what he wanted.

I highly encourage everyone to Google random national holidays there is one for everyday of the year and some are kind of cool like September 10th is swap ideas day. Then there's ones like Ask a stupid question day, or March 24th National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day...so yeah eat some of those today :)

Hmm, weirdest things I've had to search for role playing information...

The Odephius Complex
Average Orphanage size
How to keep a pet cornsnake
Is there a difference between being a sadist and a masochist?
Aphrodisiacs for men
Feline smile
The average death toll of the Soviet Union
Age of consent in America
Red eyes

Would you die if you slit your wrists with a razor?

I might add to the list as I think of more!

"How loud is a .50 cal BMG?" ( more than ~160dB, o: )

"Do sharks have skeletons?"

"Can you put a skeleton in a shark?" (no relevant results, surprisingly)

Lol, I found a really nice one myself!

Common Victorian era poisons.

Floriography. Aka Language of Flowers

How were people pressed (naval term) into service/what is pressing.

How to fully soundproof a room?

How to soundproof a vent?

Is it hard to clean blood off galvanised steel? (not many results for that one)

Plants that can be made into poison.

I had to google what vore was once... I never want to google it again. If you know what it is, then you can understand when I say that I immediately blocked the person and moved on. (Different site)
DONT GOOGLE IT. It's gross.

I've probably googled a lot of weird stuff for both RPs and stories, so a few I can name off the top of my head because it happened pretty recently for a character I was making:

"how do you refer to someone who died from an explosion"

"what kills you in an explosion"

"effects of overpressure on the human body"

"deaths that will destroy your body"

I must have looked like a future bomber.

Human echolocation.
It exists.

Are icicles sharp enough to kill?
No.

Potent weapon made from paper.
The Millwall Brick.

How to break a window silently.
Tape it before you break it.

Lethal injection, Euthanasia, Common drugs for euthanasia.
Some form of Barbiturate.
EDIT: Funny thing is, when I googled 'how to die painlessly' I got an anti-suicidal hotline instead, google legit thinks I am suicidal lol, it's hilarious, and kinda sweet too.

Marie Antoinette syndrome
Good excuse for edgy white hair.

Common causes of death.

I just find it funny that my search history makes me look like a murderous psychopath everytime I try to come up with a murder mystery. I genuinely worry that Google will make me a murder suspect.

For my shiny new RP, I Googled timelines of military assaults on Kuwait and how to invoke the vodou Loa Damballah. Same game.

For RP's... Pretty mild things, actually:
- A variety of curses in Scottish Gaelic (The c-word also translates to "kitten")
- The meanings of flowers (Specifically a variety of colors of roses)
- Lots of stuff on Arthurian/Celtic/Norse/Slavic/Egyptian/Greek mythology

For writing stuff however... I think whoever's tracking the internet history of writers thinks we're crazy murderers.
  • How to summon demons
  • Symptoms of being possessed by evil spirits
  • How to kill someone without the murder being traced (apple seeds. You can ***** murder someone with ******* apple seeds!)
  • Murders and mysterious deaths in 17th century France
  • Hierarchy in various civilizations
  • How would Clockwork Technology work as opposed to Steam Powered Tech?
  • Explosion radius of bombs and how many people would die if caught within range
  • Is it possible to survive after you're shot in the stomach?

I can't even recall everything I've Googled, but there's definitely been plenty about mental illness.

- The most probable causes of a gas leak
- Igniting a match during a gas leak
- What will happen to me if I ignite a match during a gas leak?
- How much heat does a gas leak ignition produce?
- How much heat does methane produce upon combustion?
- What temperatures does cremation require?
- How much heat is required to kill a person?

Don't even ask.
