Anime & Manga Why Sword Art Online sucks! - Analysis/rant, kind of?

Jesus did you draw these

Yes. You are a good meme boi

I disagree that Yui was the worst part of SAO.
That goes to the whole half an episode of Asuna being... ye.
I'm still pissed off that they had to make me cheer for kirito because I'm human, not because of any storyline or chracter or world building element. Completely aside from the fact that it blindsided me (my friend had told me that it was pretty much a PG show in this regard, and that the most not-pg it got was the Sinon changing room scene) and absolutely disgusted me. In fact, the reason I cheered for Kirito might have been selfish; when he beat the bad guy the episode would freaking end.
Aside from a moral and personal standpoint, the only way it contributed was by making you hate the villain because he was, well, disgusting. Up until then, the villain could have won and I really wouldn't care that much. But now...
UGH this was the worst. This made my opinion of the show go from "I'm not mad, just disappointed" to "Ok now I'm mad."

There were a couple not-PG moments in the series as a whole to a point where people thought Reki Kawahara had a weird, disgusting rape fetish.

Why is it so important for everyone to dislike sao?

Yes, the premise lures you in with false promises of a serious story about people trapped in a death game. Instead you get a mainstream anime with fanservice and full shounen package.

Sao is not an exceptional anime, it does not reinvent the genre or do anything out of the ordinary. That's it. You don't have to like it. But every time someone is being very vocal about why this or that show is bad... it makes me feel guilty for enjoying it.

Dunno, it just sucks when people do that, man. Used to really look forward to sao's episodes then the community poisoned it for me.

And not just sao. Any book, game, movie. These things dont bring anyone any harm. If you dont like it, the best response is not to pay for it.

Sludge Sludge Nobody said you couldn't enjoy it my dude. I used to love it until the Alfhiem arc. I didn't even finish GGO because I got bored and the OP literally tells you who Death Gun is. I only really enjoyed the Excalibur/Mother's Rosario arc.

I haven't bothered to watch the Mother's Rosario arc because (a) 1-3 are so boring/bad and (b) Excalibur.
It's on my list...
somewhere.
But yeah, again, 1-4 are passable, and 3 is actually above-average.
If I was tasked with rewriting SAO from the ground up, I'd either not include many timeskips or leave 1-4 pretty much the same and scrap everything else.

If you dont like it, the best response is not to pay for it.
Crunchyroll is free and legal.

Two things...one hating sword art online is a meme. At this point, getting upset about people not liking sword art online, is like getting upset at people for posting about plot...or the new fetish, armpits.

Secondly, the community is like a herd. They like animeshows are on par with sword art online and don't even realize it, because they were the ones who popularized that trash in the first place.

i should make a thread like this for oreimo

"G-g-g-guys, I have good taste, I hate SAO too, s-s-s-s-s-see?" Basically.

I say this as someone who doesn't like SAO either.

I'd honestly say this about the SAO hating crew too. Just they spit hate at these shows instead of loving them.

I was actually spoiled.
My first animated TV show was ATLA, followed by Hunter x Hunter and then SAO. After I finished SAO, I started Death Note. Then AOT but that's not important.
What is important is the fact that I watched 3 great shows for 1 average to bad show. There is no way I could not see SAO, which is objectively at best ehh, as absolute garbage.
I was spoiled so bad that I thought Attack on Titan was boring, even though it would have been my cup of tea if I hadn't watched the other anime/cartoon earlier.

I really disliked the Mother Rosario Arc so uh....

Also Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry was better than Asterisk war yet somehow Asterisk got a second season ;-;
Yuuki is cute and watching Kirito getting beat up was fun.

I see you, too, have seen the fabled 'The Asterisk War Sucks' series.

True True. I just kinda found it meh. Not the worst arc.

Indeed. I never watched the second season. Barely got through season one.
I just watched Digibro's series. Stuff like that is interesting for me to watch even if I haven't see the series because I can apply it to my stuff here.

I did watch Rakudai tho, I started before Digi highlighted it but took it off hold because of him. Fun enough watch and Stella is super cute.

Nice. Digi is cool, but sometimes is such a shit analyzer. Funny dude, kind of a dickish personality.

Agreed! Stella is so cute, and I am glad MC actually chose a girl, and stuck with her. Plus it has the MC not be overpowered.

I generally agree with him. Off the top of my head the only thing I remember really disagreeing with him about was how hard he railed on Fate but being biased and unfair is kind of his thing so whatever.

Well. I don't know about not being overpowered. He did beat the strongest student in the school with one attack. The scene was sick as fuck tho. He's definitely got the power fantasy thing going on, but he still manages to be a interesting character thanks to his issues being societal rather than strength based.

Oh, haters gonna hate. Maters gonna mate.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Railed on Fate"
More like Failed on Fate amirite?!

Really, the things he says about fate are pretty embarrassing as he obviously has no idea what he is even talking about.
