I have never heard such a normie argument before LOL. /s (not so /s)
Its because most people have watched those and expanded their taste to watch several others within the genre and niche they like. Like if you loved Death Note, there are several psychological anime like it like Monster or Serial Experiments Lain. Or if you liked Rosario Vampire, there is hell of a lot more ecchi harem stuff or vampire anime you could watch. Attack On Titan?? Go watch Terraformars. Dragonball Z?? Go watch Hokuto no Ken or Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Hajime no Ippo? Literally any damn sports anime is just as hype like Kuroko no Basuke or Ace of Diamond.
Case in point, its not because we haven't watched normal anime. Its because we expanded our tastes from it.

People thinking Puella Magi was weird and I'm just up here like HOLY CRAP PERFECT BLUE. Not gonna lie, that movie isn't just weird, creepy and horrifying, it's plain wrong. Like what kind of sinner has the fucked up imagination of coming up with that shit? I watched Perfect Blue once. Never again. Ever.

Honestly I don't even agree with some of the things on the "good / normal" list.
I watch Attack on Titan ironically because I think it's incredibly bad. It's like enjoying an old science fiction B-Movie. The titans look hilarious and I crack up every time someone screams.

Sometimes they trick you into thinking it's sort of normal in a hijinks way and then by the time the weird comes out its too late, you're into it and you gotta ride it through. My example, which I will never EVER stop talking about (PSYCHOLOGICAL WOUNDS MATE) is Hare Nochii Guu.
The main plot points and some character stuff I'll post below in a spoiler. Just trigger warning/TW: mentions rape/sexual assault/statutory rape, pedophilia, cannibalism, and some gay shit. Also: um, if you have a thing about hair, DON'T read this.

So, the main plot goes as follows.
Hare, a blue haired ten year old boy, lives in a jungle village with his alcoholic, promiscuous mother Weda, who he kinda has to take care of. He goes to school and has a girl he likes and life is pretty normal. One day she goes off into the woods and returns with a ten year old girl named Guu she randomly found (no explanation is given for where this girl came from) who seems sweet and cute and innocent. WRONG. It turns out, she's a sociopath who has a tendency to eat things. Her jaw unhinges like a snake. She'll eat whole bananas. Washing machines. Televisions. Human beings. At multiple points, she eats Hare, once at his request because she'd eaten his friends.
Okay. You're thinking, that's not SO weird. Wrong again. She has an entire world in her stomach, complete with sentient human tour guides who are constantly trying to escape.
It gets worse. (Or better, if you're into weird shit.) After Guu began accompanying Hare to school and causing serious problems with his love life, a new male school nurse arrives at school. Hare is injured one day but the nurse refuses to treat him, so Guu cons him into thinking she's an adorable school girl to get Hare treated. Which is nice and all, but please remember, this is a grey haired old man perving on a ten year old child. UH...nasty?
So, there's this ball in the village. Not a ball ball. Like a dance. Everyone ends up going, including the chief, even though he was recently humiliated when a burglar broke into his home and attacked him, ripping off all his chest hair. Turns out, Guu wanted to make an afro. Did I mention she's a supernatural cannibalistic sociopathic world-in-her-stomach-having asshole?
So Weda ends up talking to the doctor at the dance and Hare is all upset about her hanging out with the perv, which is quite dumb because EVERYONE pervs on his mom. Everyone. She ends up coming up to him and Guu and introducing the doctor...as Hare's father. Hare runs away into the woods and Guu gives him her stolen chest hair afro to comfort him. It works and they return to the party.
It's about this part Weda's past comes to light. A duo of people from her past, some guy I cant remember (sorry) and her old nurse/nanny who is very lesbian and in love with her have been sent by her parents to track her down. Apparently, Weda is only 25-- she had Hare at 15 (15!) after her doctor knocked her up-- I don't know if it were consensual (making it statutory rape) or not. Her parents were mad and told her to get rid of the baby or leave, so she left. Now they want her back. She, the doctor, Hare, and Guu pack up and go to the big city mansion where Weda's parents live, while Hare now has to make sure Guu doesn't go all kaiju and eat the city.
That's it. That's the shit show. Don't watch it.

Anime, which is short for Animation, by definition requires the show to be animated, weather by hand or through computers. Corey in the House and Seinfeld, being live action shows, do NOT fall under the animation category.

How? How can it be an anime, when 1. It's an AMERICAN live action show. And 2. It's an American LIVE ACTION show.
Anime, is generally made by a Japanese company. Anime is also not live action. By these two points. Corey in the House is not anime.
If you refuse to understand that, then explain to me how a live action show can be classified under an animation genre.
