At the Adventurers' Table: Chapter Eighteen

(I meant to post this afterward but I was interrupted by Real Life.)

Yes! The Wayward Wanderers can hear his every word without mistake!

Purr Purr Can I make a Lore: Monster at a +18 to know if there are any known racial vulnerabilities of a storm giant? Or known resistances?

Purr Purr
I seem to recall that at some point in Sharseya's (OOC) history, adventurers could get a sense of relative level from other adventurers, i.e. "they're way out of my league" or "I'm way better than them." As I recall, it had to do with the every-five-levels tiers, in that we could tell if someone was within our tier.
A) is that still the case?
B) can Kaerri apply that to the rearguard Storm Giants here?

Also, good idea, Sherwood Sherwood ! Kaerri would also like to roll Monster Lore.

Sherwood Sherwood My pleasure! I'll have to get some dice in front of me and when I do I'll let you know the results. =)

Kaerri Kaerri

A. Yes, that ability starts at 10th level (Character level). =)

B. If she takes one Round (6 seconds) to study each of them, yes.

(C. Dice!) =)

She will do so, then, starting with the newest volunteer. If she's sent on her way before she's done, she'll go with whatever info she's gleaned up to that point.

Sherwood Sherwood Several things can be discerned from Luna's recollections of studying monsters. She is quite confident that there are Giant Slayer weapons out and about in Sharseya. It is strongly believed Storm Giants are completely immune to lightning and electricity of all forms, including that of blue dragons (the strongest monster source of electricity according to many sages and adventurers)!

Her recollections also come up with three more possibly-useful pieces of information. The first is that the Storm Giants of Averlund dwell nowhere near Highwind but on other mountain ranges in the Frozen North or even underwater off the coast of the port city of Glimmerdawn. Second, according to adventurers and scholars all over (including those who worship Boccob), no Storm Giant is of evil alignment, or even neutral - they are Chaotic Good. Finally, there is no mention anywhere in Luna's teachings of any creature that calls itself a Storm Lord.

Kaerri would also like to roll Monster Lore.
Kaerri Kaerri Unfortunately, Kaerri's roll is nowhere near as successful as Luna's studies. Kaerri remembers that Storm Giants are good guys (the only kind of giant that really is that she knows of, really) and they are immune to lightning. Oh and Dwarves don't tend to like them. Because. You know. Dwarves and Giants just don't get along. Or something like that. Then again, when was the last time anyone in the Adventurer's Guild or in Highwind at all saw a Storm Giant?

Heya Gang! I hope the post here and in Broadsword within the next 24 hours. It's been one heck of a week! =)

We may not just die, but have to work as slaves in these caves along side the kobolds we are here to save.

Psychie Psychie As the party leader of the Wayward Wanderers, in all fairness I just want to point out that the King of the Storm Lords never said where the slavery would take place - just that it would and for one month's time. (I normally don't point things like this out, but something is telling me that this time it's important.)

"If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the work in the mines.

Also, in all good fairness, I mentioned nothing about mines or slavery involving mines (or if I did or even implied it, I made a mistake). For one thing, the kobolds don't seem to be miners. These are tunnels once belonging to the Kobolds of the Silver Sun. No more and no less. But mining equipment? Picks? Shovels? Rails and carts and such? The Wayward Wanderers (Kaerri included) have seen no such things here in this central tunnel (there are three such side-by-side tunnels that were seen from the outside).

Just want to be the fair-minded Dungeon Master here!

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

Thanks for pointing that out - in my case, Aldrin just went with whatever was mentioned earlier by Oreleth, but it's good to know.

You know me; I love details and accuracy. =)

Purr Purr Did Kaerri have time to learn anything about the four we'll be facing in particular?

Yes, but I lack the brain power to tell you right now. Later! =)

Kaerri Kaerri

In a nutshell? As things stand now, it appears The Wayward Wanderers will be challenged here in a big way.

The long of it? Upon realizing that they were going to be teaming up against an unknown force, the four Rearguard joined together and immediately start talking shop. Kaerri sees them turn to their King and ask him questions in low speech, certainly speaking in their old dialect of Giant.

And the King answers them.

When Kaerri pauses to examine them, they soon appear to sense her presence. They pause and turn and quietly look back at her. There is no fear in their eyes but nor is there foolishness. A novice or an expert very likely would not have noticed her scrutiny.

But veterans like Kaerri would.

(Such measuring happens often enough in the Adventurers Guild at least as far as she has noticed.)

Psychie Psychie Hey! Just to let you know, pretty soon I'll be calling upon you as party leader to ask what you want the party to do, be it parley or fight or what-have-you. Just want to let you know. =)

Hey friends,

Dann would like you to know that he wanted to post in both games, but he's been under the weather for the past couple days. It's not serious, but he hasn't had the energy to write. He sends his love and says to take care.

Thanks for letting us know - hope he'll feel better soon!

Hi!

Contracted bad food poisoning last Sunday night. Painful, exhausting. So weak. Mind isn't working right. But Kaerri is here! Loves my Kaerri!

Spirit is high. Can't type/read for long, but I love ya and miss you all! Just had to tell you myself.

Oof. Back to bed. Bye now!

Honor and bed,
Dann =)

All the best for those fortitude saves - don't forget the Kaerri-bonus!
