The Force of Justice - IC Thread

Luminary keeps herself in the air, keeping one hand pointed at the figure in the powered suit, looking all around her for any signs of more shooters besides the ones that they have just subdued. She sends out through the mind link, "Good work, everyone. Dreamy? Can you spin that truck a few more times before you set it down? I want to make sure that these assholes are good and disoriented before we try and restrain and disarm them for the police to round up."

Shortly after the fighting comes to a halt, Nisha once more summons shadowy wings to swoop down from her vantage point and land close to the man on the floor - quickly making sure that he's indeed out of the equation for good. Last thing they need right now are nasty surprises, and Luminary seems to trust the peace as much as she herself does. Once that's done (hopefully without complications), she'll focus on the van, still keeping the cloud of darkness in place. She's about to share her opinion, when...
"Nisha! Luminary! Dude! Wave 'hi' to Chaaaserrr! Hiii!!"
... this happens. Nisha barely offers a restrained nod towards the phone, then gets pack to the task at hand. All cheerfulness of her ally aside, there's still a van full of thugs to take care of, right?
"Good work, everyone. Dreamy? Can you spin that truck a few more times before you set it down? I want to make sure that these assholes are good and disoriented before we try and restrain and disarm them for the police to round up."
"I'd say you shake it a little more, then set it down. Let me go in, I can see and hear where they can't. Shouldn't be too hard to take care of them, now." Of course, one never knows what to expect - this stubborn fool on the floor is proof enough of that.

Can you spin that truck a few more times before you set it down? I want to make sure that these assholes are good and disoriented before we try and restrain and disarm them for the police to round up."

"Uh-huh! I'll do better than that!"

Now that Dreamy was on-scene, she could see with her own physical two eyes what was going on. She looked up at the van, her smartphone still showing Chaser all that was happening.

Then a moment of inspiration touched the Kairissian. She remembered back, not too long ago, to her Carbonite friends in the state of Connecticut - The Hole in the Wall Gang! That special camp where people were encouraged to "raise a little hell" together in celebration of life; the same people that had encouraged Dreamy to joined the Force of Justice. Sacramento was not Connecticut, but here was a chance to have a little fun!

Dreamy concentrates on the van spinning in the air and the spinning begins to slow. It gradually slows to a gentle stop, just long enough for those inside to think that perhaps the ride is over with. Harmony restored.

And just when that thought might enter their minds, that they may enjoy some relief from their unenviable position, the van begins to rotate again, this time spinning in the other direction!

Dreamy turns to her teammates, her eyes closed, her golden face filled with a rare moment of mischievous glee as she takes her time setting the van down before Luminary.

"Hee hee hee!"

While Dreamy gets there to see the van spinning about like a clothes dryer, you can all hear the sounds of multiple sirens wailing in the distance, growing closer by the moment as the local police respond to the many 911 calls that they have gotten over this. With his tremendous speed, even Chaser is now on scene and can laugh at the sight of the three original gunmen and the driver getting the living snot beat out of them by Dreamy.

Thanks to the many hard blows that the powered suit has taken, the operator inside is not going to be waking up anytime soon, leaving you with the question of just what do you do with the three bozos in the truck?

Chaser squinted at the video display projected on the inside of his goggles. He made some low grunting sound as police sirens sounded through his earpiece. "Aight," he began. "Guess I'll show up." The speedster bid farewell to Rachel, told her to check out his merch store, and darted off in a gust of wind.

Shortly thereafter Chaser arrived on the scene of the fight, just in time to hear his teammates discussing what to do with their prisoners.

Luminary gives both Dreamy and Chaser a nod as they both arrive, then motions to the mentalist to lower the truck. In a loud voice, she calls out, "You inside the trailer! I want you to come out of the vehicle one at a time, hands in the air. Any attempt to deviate from these orders will result in you getting your ticket punched and you'll just wake up in the hospital ward of the local jail. Make it easy on yourselves and surrender peacefully."

Making a Presence roll to try and properly motivate them to do as they are told.
Low roll; only 25

About two words into Luminary's first sentence, Dawn raises her hand, signaling her to stop right there. She then follows up with a few practiced motions, and allows the shadowy cloud around the vehicle to dissipate.
"It takes away sight and sound", is her short explanation, before pointing at the truck, warily eyeing it for the slightest sign of movement. "The stage is all yours." And with that, she steps a little back, now that there's no need to draw more attention than necessary.

Feeling a little embarrassed at her mistake, Luminary starts out again, hoping to avoid a major fight once more.

"Yeah!" Dreamy tries to add to Luminary's demand. If they don't come out in a few moments, Dreamy considers slowly aiming the car-thing's front skyward and shaking it so that they fall out like candies from a wrapper.

Then she waves enthusiastically at Chaser. 'Hi, Chaser!" Over her Mind Link, she transmits. "Blue Bolt? Our group has been reunited and we are requesting the enemy Carbonites surrender themselves for Incarceration. Isn't that terrific?"

Now that the Darkness field is down, a bit of complaining and a few choice swear words can be heard from inside the back of the truck. Soon after, a somewhat disoriented and bruised figure in lightweight armor comes crawling out and collapses on the pavement below, followed by a second and then a third figure. They do not have any of their larger weapons that you saw before in hand, but one does have a pistol holstered on his hip. Once it is clear that the gunmen are not planning to fight their way out, the police that are now pulling up begin to carefully advance to restrain the three.

At the front of the truck, as the driver is being pulled from the cab of the vehicle he is loudly complaining that he has no idea who the idiots in the back of the truck are. The police don't seem to care as they frisk him and slap a pair of handcuffs on his wrists and haul him away to a waiting squad car.

The men from the back of the vehicle are placed in a large police van, no doubt with a small camera in it to try and catch incriminating statements from the men before they are taken to the police station. The figure in the armored suit is starting to stir, just in time to notice the scads of SWAT officers pointing guns at him, along with the presence of the four of you. From one of squad cars, a man shouts over a bullhorn, "You in the suit! Pop the shell and exit immediately! You are surrounded, and there is no chance for escape. Comply at once or we will open fire!"

It takes a moment for the armored figure to consider the options, but eventually the suit cracks open and reveals a athletic middle aged woman with dark hair and a poisonous glare slowly climbing out of the now open armor. She is quickly cuffed up and tossed into a car by the waiting officers.

From over the mind link, Blue Bolt replies to Dreamy's comment with, Well done, all of you. Just remember that you are probably on multiple cameras from the lookie-loos out there recording everything you do with their cell phones, so make sure your behavior is above reproach. On another topic, I am sending your communicators the location of the address that Dreamy relayed to me that she got from the one prisoner. According to Google Maps, it is a warehouse a few miles from your current position. When you have wrapped up your business there, I would suggest that you go and investigate. If you want, I can teleport out there to join you.

Dreamy excitedly claps her hands at the idea. There is absolutely no sarcasm in her voice when she mentally replies, "Oooh! We can have an experienced Force of Justice person here to show the rest of us what we're supposed to be doing? That sounds wonderful to me!"

Then she looks about. "Wait. Did you say 'cameras?'" With a reassuring tone and a thumbs-up, she adds, "Don't worry, team! I've got this!"

Dreamy gleefully. spins toward the nearest cameras, her long fiery hair whirling. Hands clasped behind her back, the Kairissian gives her biggest smile and begins slowly moving from one striking pose to the next, letting her looks and modeling skills create a show of their own. Then she begins.

"You don't have to be a superhero to look great. But it sure helps! With Sun Top swimwear, I can look my best while doing my best! So remember! Do the right thing while looking good doing it! Sun Top swimwear! Creating smiles everywhere under the sun!"

Luminary is just barely able to keep herself from performing a classic facepalm at Dreamy's commercial plug of the swimwear, but as she tells herself, she is an alien to this world, and does not have the same benefit that the Dude has with her giving input. Letting Dreamy play to the cameras, Deb sends the message to Blue Bolt, "Yes, sir. I like the sound of you coming in with us. Are we going to need a search warrant or something like that? Or is this a case of exigent circumstances giving us a clear go-ahead? If we are able to find some clues and other members of this group, I want to make sure we don't lose them due to some procedural snafu."

She then goes over to find the officer that is the ranking member of the police on scene. "Excuse me, sir? Can you please send word up the line to keep these prisoners segregated away from the one fellow we were escorting to the courthouse? There is a real chance that they were sent out here in order to ensure his silence, one way or another."

Blue Bolt replies to Luminary, "At this point, we have no idea that there is even anything there, but you do have a point. I'll make sure we are covered by Legal before we smash our way into the place. Before I go, I'm going to snag up a few more members of the west coast team to join us. If there is something there, I want to have overwhelming force to answer it. I can meet you there in probably . . . twenty minutes."

In the meantime, the police that Luminary talk to assure her that they will pass on the warning about the current batch of prisoners and the one guy that is at the courthouse right now.

Since Dreamy is currently posing for pictures, she is the first to see a news van from one of the local stations come pulling up to the police line and leap out of their van with a camera in hand and begin to set up to send a live report of the fireworks that had gone on here. Soon after, a second and then a third van joins the first and begin to do some filming with the field anchor desperately trying to get the attention of any of the Force of Justice members here to get an interview.

What do you guys do now? Do any of you approach the newsies and give an interview, or do you stay away from the cameras and head to the warehouse?

With the situation under control, and others to naturally sate the people's need for a show... there's really no need for Nisha Dawn to be present. "See you in a bit. That's already enough attention for a day." Too much, actually. Probably. The fight certainly showed the possibilities of the ancient teachings she dares to unravel - possibilities that others seek after as well. And thus, she's happy to look for an opening to get away from the scene as soon as she possibly can. Leave the spotlight for the others, let them bath in the attention; she'll be more useful from the shadows. Literally. "I'll get a head start, if that's alright. You know better how to handle the press." If possible, Nisha tries to escape the attention, and begin to make her way towards the warehouse - unless the others object.

"Bluebolt - don't get too many involved. There's more to this than we understand, it feels like. And whoever's here isn't available elsewhere."
There's an irreplaceable book back in the basis as well; not that there's need to mention that...

Dreamy sees the news-vans approaching and for one moment, months of adventuring alone make her forget she is in a team at all. In San Francisco, Dreamy spoke with just about any Carbonite who desired a healthy discussion. Having apprehended the mean Carbonites here, the naive and well-meaning Kairissian has become used to their inquisitive brethren, the media, wanting to know what to tell the other millions of innocent Carbonites living in the state of California and beyond. Dreamy goes into kind of autopilot as, without thinking, she begins to drift toward the newscasters to speak with them.

If any of her team wishes to change her course, either through physical interaction or via her Mind Link, now is a good time.

Chaser smiled for the cameras and waved to observers, but didn't make much noise outside of assuring Blue Bolt that his behavior was always above reproach and shortly thereafter whistling to himself as the woman stepped out of her powered armor. He spent most of the time on his Twitter while the others spoke, paying remarkably good attention simply because he could type faster than his phone could register and read faster than messages could load. He snapped a selfie with the arrests taking place in the background.

He glanced over at Nisha as she made her exit, then leaned over to Blue Bolt. "Yo, uh...I'm no expert on this team stuff, but if you guys don't know what's going on, don't it make more sense to...y'know...take more dudes?"

He didn't have time to wait for a response. Dreamy had started towards the news vans, which caused him a small but real sense of dread. In a flash he appeared in front of her, stretching one arm across his chest. "Yo, Dreams. What ya doin'?" He looked over his shoulder towards the news crews, trying to see what stations were present.

"Oh! Hi, Chaser! I was going to inform the Carbonites!" Dreamy pushes her glowing hair over her shoulders in preparation for a chat with every media person present.

"The Carbonites in San Francisco are often curious when their fellow Carbonites break their laws. The police forces there have given me tips on what to say and what not to say. I see here in Sacramento, the Carbonites are just as curious. Did you want to join me?" Dreamy smiles at the notion but then another thought crosses her mind causing her to hesitate. "Or... did you perhaps have another course of action in mind?"

"Uh...nah, no thanks." The speedster snickered. "Now, I don't know what the police told you, but let me tell you this: the best thing to say is to not say anything. Don't got no suggestions, but trust me, ya don't need to talk to reporters."

Seeing Chaser's reluctance, Dreamy pauses and turns back to the Force of Justice. "I suppose you must mean here in Sacramento? The Carbonites in San Francisco have been very nice to me there! But if you think we shouldn't speak with these Carbonites, then I won't!" With that, Dreamy "walks" (hovering inches off of the street) to her teammates while waving a cheerful goodbye to the media. "Sooorryyy!"

Once reunited with the team, Dreamy clasps her hands and asks, "What is our next course of action, everyone?"

Luminary floats over to be with the rest of the group before setting down gently on the ground. "I think that this address is our next move. We need to get some eyes on it and see if there is anything going on there that we should know about. That one fellow gave Dreamy this address for a reason. I am hoping that it is not an elaborate ruse to lead us into a trap, but we have to be extremely careful with this. If there is some trouble there, between the four of us and Blue Bolt, we should be able to take it on and walk out looking good."

"Trap or not, they'll be prepared. These kind of people don't leave much to chance, especially after they lost a team just now. Plus, they were worried that Harry would talk; they wouldn't ignore that he might've talked already." The chain wrapped around her arms rattles as Nisha stares at its runes as if they might have answers. They kinda do - powers like these offer many outs. "Could try to take a look by myself, if we don't want to go in blind. Doesn't take much to stay hidden, for me."

"Well...I'll talk to you about it later," Chaser answered, before following her back to the rest of the team.
"Okay!" Dreamy smiles happily and nods to Chaser. Her joy of communicating in her natural method via telepathy and the Mind Link is such that the Kairissian forgets that Chaser is not in the Mind Link at all. "I look forward to it! With a body as incredibly-fast as yours, your thoughts must be equally rapid to govern it all. I hope I can keep up should you decide to speak full speed, if only for a little while?"

Dreamy puts one hand through her long, blazing hair and silently looks at Nisha and then in the direction of San Francisco. "Nisha? I might be able to assist you mentally if you don't mind the help. Blue Bolt? How do you think we should proceed against these... meanies?"

Dreamy smiles happily and nods to Chaser.
"...aight, so...I'll be, uh...strateging or whatever." Miles found it kind of weird how Dreamy was just staring at him all quiet like, and joining in the planning was a good way to excuse himself.

"I'm sure I can handle whatever they got. I mean, come on," smirked Chaser. "There's no way they can catch me. If you need recon, I'm your guy. Or your other guy at least, if uh...she wants to help." He conveniently avoided the fact that he didn't quite remember Nisha's name.

"There's no way is how things tend to go wrong, in general. There's a good chance that they'll be prepared - for visitors, and for our kind. The world at large knows what Chaser does, right? A few weeks might be plenty to take precautions." A shrug. The chain rattles. "If you want to risk your neck, that's fine by me. I'll tag along to stay in contact with Dreamy and the others; if you get caught on your own, we wouldn't know what happened."
