Mauville City had once been a small town with nothing of real interest aside from its gym. In fact, if it weren't for its gym then most trainers would pass the town by on their journey without a second thought. But in recent times, that's changed. The city has been industrialized and essentially been turned into a city-size mall, with shops on the lower levels and apartments on the upper levels.

There is a long and detailed description of the intricacies of Mauville's design and history that can be gotten into but sadly, it shall not be elaborated on as Mare does not care about it one bit. All she cares about, at the moment, is Mauville's Food Court. It had been a long and tedious journey from Slateport to Mauville and she was hungry.

After ordering food for her and her Pokemon, Mare went and sat down. She released her three Pokemon and carefully set their food on the floor. Fiji and Queen devoured theirs eagerly while Yu was more leisurely in her consumption.

Before Mare herself could dig in, she was interrupted by a rather pompous looking young man. "You there! I want that seat!"

"What?" Mare asked, baffled.

"I want that seat!" The pompous young man shouted. "As I am of higher status then you I insist that you move!"

Mare rubbed her chin. "Hmm... you Hoennians have an expression for situations like these but I can't seem to recall it." After a second or two she slammed her fist into her hand. "Aha! I remember now." Her voice turned bitter and angry. "Get lost!"

"How dare you!" The pompous young man shouted. "I shall battle you if I must!"

"You want a battle, huh?" Mare asked, balling her fist. "Fine, I'll give you a battle." Without another word her fist went flying and she hit him with an uppercut, knocking him to the floor. He quickly scrambled upwards, rubbing his jaw. It didn't seem to be broken (maybe next time) but it definitely hurt him.

"How dare you strike me!" He shouted.

Mare glared at him and held up her fist. She growled.

"Fine you can have the seat!" The pompous young man shouted, trying to put on a brave face. "I don't even care anyways." He bolted away as fast as he could.

The entire cafeteria was now staring at Mare. She shot as many people as she could a glare and a growl before sitting back down and beginning to eat.

"...I finally found you."

Before Mare could really get a moment of peace...a voice piped up. Across from Mare's table...was a girl, just a little younger than her. Accompanied by an Absol and a Gallade, both out of their Pokeballs. They had a strange presence—one that felt completely foreign to the newly industrialized Mauville City. Like they didn't belong here.

And yet, Arceus above did Sela have to work to just say those four words.

How long had it been since she first felt the threat come? The first time she felt it was while she was in Kanto—and even then, the signs of premoninition were overwhelming. Goosebumps. Shivers that ran up and down her spine. A voice nagging her in the back of her mind, "Something is coming. Something is coming. Something is coming." And those signs had started popping up...weeks ago, by now. And with every hurried step Sela had taken (or really, Orie had taken while she remained on her back, the signs had got worse. The dread, increasing. More. And more. And more, like she was already staring into the face of the calamity itself as she ventured to Hoenn. As time went on, Sela began to receive visions—she usually did, when the disasters bordered on catastrophic. But...while those were usually of the tragic aftermath, or the dreaded disaster itself...

A man flashing some sort of badge. Sela kind of doubted it's integrity, for whatever reason.
A woman strumming a soft tune. Even from her visions, the sincereity of it reached her.
A younger girl, uppercutting a man. She always wondered what the context was for that.

...Those were the only visions she received, this time.

Part of Sela was excited. She was never quite alone, yes; her Orie and her Galahad were always by her side. Even if they bickered over anything and everything. Even maps. (Can you imagine that? Listening to two Pokemon argue over a map, not understanding a lick of what they're actually saying?) Yet...well, sometimes Sela actually wanted to have a conversation. And so, she had been excited! Excited for company, for some human companions for a change. And yet...

Had she misplaced her hopes? Could these people actually be behind cause behind the disaster—be the disaster itself?
...No, that was ridiculous. Sela doubted it was the case. That was some Galahad thinking, right there. But...either way, Sela knew her first priority was to seek those three out. For whatever what would happen...she was sure that in moving forward, all three of them would prove important. Integral, even. But finding people based off nothing more than a vague gut feeling...was quite difficult, Sela would put it it. Yes, quite difficult indeed. But—Sela had finally found one. After another week of just wandering Hoenn.

The question was—what did she do, now that she actually found one of them?

Well, this had been Sela's answer. Orie gave her a small look of concern, never one for the mysticism and cryptics. Galahad...well, his face made it clear that he didn't like anybody here. Much less Mare. And so, there Sela found herself...standing across from Marie, remaining composed despite all of it. At the cafeteria table of destiny.

It was a better start than usual for her.

Whimsy Larson
Humming to the tune in her head strode a blonde haired young woman who was heading towards the main entrance of the grand city of Mauville. Having arrived to the region by plane, then immediately taking a ferry from Lilycove to Slateport as a means of throwing anyone off course. "Whimsy are you done singing yet? You've been humming the same song for an hour now," groaned the young man walking alongside her. His hand running through his dark red locks. Pausing abruptly mid chorus the girl turned her head up at him, blue eyes wide like a doe's as she gave a humorously childish pout, "Oh come on Jay! You know that's my favorite song," taking another pause the pout was soon replaced by a smile, accompanied by laughter, "Well, one of my many favorites that is." Jay rolled his eyes at her comment, but couldn't hide the small smirk on his face as he elbowed her playfully.

The pair stopped in their strides when they had made it to one of Mauville's four entrances. "Jay, how do I look? Do I look like I fit in? Do I stand out?!" Whimsy asked frantically as she began checking herself over, mainly her choice in clothes. After having arrived in Hoenn, specifically Lilycove, the girl went to the mall there to obtain a new wardrobe, abandoning the clothes she had worn during her flee from Kalos. The young woman dawned a blue and white striped tank top, high-waisted black shorts, and bright pink high top sneakers. Jay rubbed the back of his head he sighed, "You stand out less in those than your designer clothes that you wore on the plane," the statement made Whimsy flushed and ball her hands up, "It's not my fault that my mom only let me own clothes like that! I never even really liked them!" Soon a hand was placed on her head, Jay's to be exact, as he laughed at her reaction, "Don't get so worked up kid. Remember that I know better than anyone how your family was." It was true, he was the only other one to know what it was like back there. Smiling softly the teen joined in his laughter, which went on for a few moments before subsiding. The duo turned their attention back to the entrance, only glancing at each other and nod before heading inside.

"Whoa!" Whimsy's eyes lit up as she gazed around at her surroundings. "This place is amazing! It's a mall! But, at the same time, a whole city! People live here! Incredible!" It was hard to contain her excitement at such a unique infrastructure. Sure Kalos had it's own fancy buildings and monuments, but never a city such as this. Whipping her head up at Jay she beamed, "I bet the acoustics here are excellent. I should try them out before we leave," which was meant with yet another, seemingly unsatisfied groan, "You know that we can't stay in one place for too long." He was right though, they couldn't stay in one place for an extended number of days in case someone was looking for her. Whimsy looked around before spotting a sign for a food court, "Can we at least eat here? I think it's safe to assume we're all hungry and would like to sit down to eat." A few moments of silence went by before Jay agreed to the idea, causing his trainer to grin happily as the headed in that direction.

Walking into the food court Whimsy's grin got bigger as she saw the different restaurants that where located there. Upon laying eyes on a ramen shop the teen beelined for the stand, patiently waiting in line before ordering 4 bowls of ramen, allowed Jay to carry the tray after minor bickering, then going to find an empty table. A few minutes went by before the two found an empty table that seated four, "Perfect," Whimsy proclaimed proudly as she pulled two Poke Balls out of her pocket and tossing them up. In a bright light emerged two Toxtricitys who seemed to be happy to stretch their legs. Sitting down in her chair Jay, Alto, and Sonata followed in suit as the gang began slurping down their bowls of noodles. Normally in this particular food court you have to battle trainers in order to keep your seat, a rule Whimsy wasn't totally aware of until she witnessed a commotion a few tables away. A girl her age managed to knock down a guy bigger than her with one punch after trying to take her seat. "Whoa.. The rules in this place are very strange compared to back home," the girl mumbled softly as she stared a few moments longer before going back to her bowl. Jay and Alto on the other hand gave off menacing glances and vibes at anyone, and everyone, who even dared thinking of trying to challenge their trainer for her seat. This surely was the start of an interesting journey.

Mare was about to take a bite of her sandwich when someone else interrupted her. Was it really so hard to eat lunch in peace. She growled and looked up. This time, the person interrupting her was an odd girl with an Absol and Gallade who felt like she didn't belong here. Of course, in Mare's mind, nobody belonged here, which in this context meant a 5 foot radius of her.

Mare clenched her fist. "You have ten seconds to leave before I do to you what I did to that <jackass.> Mare didn't know the Hoennian word for jackass so she switched back to Kantonese.

"I hate to interrupt, oh who am I kidding, I love to interrupt but it might not be wise to antagonize someone with such powerful looking Pokemon." Yu said. To anybody else, it would sound like Yu was just saying "Zigzagoon- zig." but to Mare, she was speaking in perfect Hoennian.

"Hmph. I could take them." Queen said.

"No you couldn't." Yu replied.

"I don't usually say this but I agree with Yu." Fiji said. "These guys are freaking me out, boss."

"Would you three chill." Mare whispered irritably. "Worse comes to worse we run, but I doubt it'll come to that." She looked at Fiji. "And I thought I told you not to call me boss."

"Sorry, boss." Fiji said cheekily.

Mare sighed.

Blair’s date with a beautiful triple decker burger was interrupted when a fight over a seat broke out at food court. The ‘pokemon detective’ snickered. Kids these days were so entertaining—fighting over the littlest of things. Queen, who sat on his shoulder, ignored the rowdiness around her and continued to shower him with kisses. Smoochums, after all, were a species of pokemon that felt the world through lips so Blair wasn’t surprised that she kissed him the first few times. However, that only applied to the first few times. All the smooches afterwards didn’t make much sense, but Blair learned to accept that about Queen.

She simply enjoyed giving kisses and, truthfully, Blair didn’t especially mind it. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if kisses were freely given? If only Officer Jenny adhered to such a principle, Blair would be a much happier man. Alas, the black haired man was fairly certain he’d sooner receive a baton to a face than a peck from the No-nonsense officer.

Blair’s habit, whenever he entered a new place, was to assess his surroundings (and search for all possible escape routes). Therefore, the former thief took note of everything in the food court—especially the pokemon in the area. Most were safe, properly trained by their trainers to not attack normal civilians, but that certainly didn’t apply to all pokemon.

Absols were rare—supposed harbingers of disaster to the uneducated folk.

However, rarer still were the pokemon not native to the Hoenn region. Two Toxtricitys. He recognized the creatures vaguely from a textbook, but it was the first time he’d seen them in person. Both looked to be fairly menacing, but, more importantly, they pointed the blond girl out as a trainer from one of the other regions. Galar? It was hard to say since pokemon weren’t exactly limited to a region. Either way, it peaked Blair’s curiosity nearly as much the girl with the striking uppercut.

A young trainer that used her fists instead of her pokemon to battle.

Blair smirked. That sort of thing didn’t fly in today’s society of pokemon. Of course, seeing as he was in a large city-sized mall, it’d taken all his willpower not to revert to Labir and help himself to a couple of trinkets…especially when people just left them out in the open. What helped was the fact that it wouldn’t be much of a challenge to do so. At all. Besides, he’d come to Mauville city to meet with an old acquaintance and getting into trouble before then would be a bit of a bother.

20100417214615%21238Smoochum.png

“I can assure you they aren’t representative of all us Hoennians, Miss~” Blair remarked after hearing the foreign trainer’s mumbled comment. Sitting in the table next to hers, he was nonetheless able to hear her well enough to pick up on her Kalosian dialect. His eyes drifted from her red haired companion to the two toxtricity’s eating with her before once more settling on the blond girl with a guitar case. “You must be new to the region.”

He flashed her a winning smile. “I’m Blair and this is Queen.”

Smoochum peeked curiously at the blonde girl before jumping onto the Kalosian's shoulders and giving the girl a smooch on the right cheek. She gave the girl's red-haired companion a peck on his left one as well. Blair laughed. “Please don’t mind her. That's just how she says hello.”

Okay! Okay, the cryptics was a bad decision! Time to abort the mysticism! Abort!

"W—Wait! Wait, wait, hold on!" Sela put her hands up, her composure lost to a clear visage of worry. Sela took a step back...that girl would actually uppercut her. And while Sela had never been uppercut before, it was not on her list of things she wanted to try. "I'm—" But before she could continue—before she could properly explain herself—

Galahad stepped in front of her.
Amongst the two humans and the Pokemon, he himself stood the tallest. But...while Gallades were known as kind, noble creatures—Galahad held no such warmth in it's eyes. It's downward gaze was cold. Piercingly cold. It said nothing, posing as a silent challenge...as if to say, "Try it. I dare you." Galahad was surely just doing what he always did; protecting Sela. Letting some random ruffian uppercut the daughter of his master?! Absurd! No, Galahad was not such a lousy protector to just let that happen! To him, what he did was logical. Him stepping between the ruffian and his daughter's master was just him preforming his role as her stalwart protector. And truly...from Galahad's perspective, it really only made sense.

But it was, in all honesty, the worst thing he could've done. Since...Sela wasn't trying to challenge her. Like, at all. It was quite the escalation—or would've been, if not for Orie.

"Tsk, tsk. Always the first to escalate a situation, Galahad." The new voice Mare heard was, in comparison to the other two was...softer. Gentle, though careful. Right now though, her voice also carried a hint of scolding—the Absol nudging away the Gallade with their horn. Galahad responded with a glare towards down Orie, as if demanding a good reason for why he should move. And Orie responded in proper. "We're here because of the visions...not to cause a fight, hm? As her protector...surely, you'd know better than to drag Sela into unnecessary danger...right?" Her words were carefully chosen. Loaded with underlying hints; obvious to catch, yet courteous enough to go unsaid.

A moment passed.

...The Gallade looked from Mare, then to Orie. And begrudgingly, he moved aside, casting one last glare at Mare and her Pokemon. Sela let out a sigh of relief. "...Now, let's explain ourselves in proper, Sela." Orie looked up to Sela...and the psychic softly smiled. She, of course, had no idea what they just said. But she generally caught the gist of what just happened. While Sela appreciated Galahad's intentions...she was always glad to have Orie around to temper him.

Clearing her throat one more time, Sela turned to look at Mare. Calmer, now—though, still a little nervous. "...I'm a Psychic. I specialize in Precognition, alongside my Absol...and we've been looking for you." Her gaze flickered down to the cafeteria seat across Mare. "Can—May I sit with you? I'm really not looking for a fight..."

Whimsy Larson
Hearing a voice off to her side Whimsy turned to be met with a young man, older than her she could tell, who reassured her that the region was not made up of brutish people. Chuckling as she finished off the bite in her mouth the girl smiled sweetly, "I would hope not. But I've heard only good things about your region," picking up her napkin she wiped the corners of her mouth before placing it back in her lap. Jay though was less than comfortable as he gave as suspicious glare in Blair's direction. Odd that a stranger would waltz over to someone they never met and start having a conversation with them. Then again, Jay always found people that approached his trainer suspicious and up to no good. A mix of protective and mild possession.

Whimsy was a bit surprised when Blair commented about her being new to these parts. An embarrassed grin spread across her face as she rubbed the back of her head, "I am. Guess my accent was the give away huh?" As the man went on to introduce himself as Blair, and the companion on his shoulder as Queen, the girl's blue eyes widened at seeing the Smoochum on his shoulder. When Queen jumped off her trainer's shoulder and onto Whimsy's she blushed and awed as the Pokémon kissed her cheek, Jay's reaction was a bit more of confusion as he rubbed his left cheek. "Oh my goodness, I don't mind at all! She's is just so adorable," Whimsy cooed excitedly. Seeing as how Blair had introduced himself to them Whimsy gave her own charming smile, "My name's Whimsy. The red head is Jay, and these are the twins, Alto and Sonata," the two males gave a slight head tilt as greeting while Sonata, somewhat nervously, nodded before turning to look away. New people weren't really Sonata's thing.

"It's so nice to meet you Blair, of course you too Queen," Whimsy stated politely. Suddenly Jay's attention was brought to the commotion going on at the table where the girl from earlier punched the man. It seemed that now she was having issues with a girl who stood with a Gallade and an Absol at her side. His teal eyes narrowed as he kept watch on what was going on behind his trainer. Despite the illusion he portrayed, his keen hearing still worked like normal. Listening onto the conversation he heard as the Pokémon argued a bit, and as the Gallade's trainer mentioned having found the one she was looking for. Given how the conversation was going before that, it was safe for Jay to assume that the two didn't really know each other personally. I don't really like the look of this.. I'm going to have to keep an eye on those two girls, Jay thought to himself as he continued eating his bowl of ramen.

When the Gallade stepped in front of its trainer, Mare prepared for a fight. She was fully willing to face down this Gallade by herself if necessary. Foolish? Yes. Totally Mare? Also yes.

Lucky for everyone involved, and most people not involved, the Absol stepped in before things went to hell. She managed to swiftly defuse the situation. Yu found this to be a breath of fresh air after dealing with her more brash companions for a little over a month now.

"Finally someone rational." She exclaimed.

As the girl explained why she was bothering her, Mare slowly unclenched her fist. If she was being honest with herself, she had no idea what the girl or her Absol were talking about and she was actually kind of curious. She let out a long sigh.

"Fine. But if you're here to take my food I won't hesitate to knock you into next week."

“The pleasure is all mine, Whimsy~” Blair replied merrily. There was a bit of poshness in her demeanor that suggested she came from the upper class, though electric guitar case—as opposed to a violin case—suggested to preferred more down to earth music as well. A rebel? Possibly. Though she seemed like the cheery sort so maybe not. He took note of her blush as well and grinned. “Your lovely accent is certainly telling…but so are the pokemon you bring with you.” Walking electric lizards weren’t exactly common in Hoenn. “I wouldn’t be much of a detective if I can’t deduce that much at least. Your Hoennian is actually pretty good compared to many others I’ve heard. Trust me, there are some born here that still struggle to speak the language properly. ”

Blair rolled his eyes as he recalled some thugs in the PokeUnderworld whose speech mostly involved grunts and curses. Probably gave up education and dropped out of school for a life of crime. But of course, Whimsy could’ve easily been a Hoenn trainer that journeyed for a long time in Kalos before returning home with new pokemon and accents. It really was just all guesswork on his part...and she pretty much admitted it. He took another bite of his burger, chewed, and swallowed before continuing. “Truthfully I’ve never actually been to Kalos, but I’ve had friends that moved there and develop the accent as a result so I hear it every so often when we video chat.”

Sharing information about oneself first was how people got others to open up about their own lives. One of the rules of social exchange. Give and take. It was human nature to not want to be indebted. He could also see the suspicious looks Jay was giving him. Blair smirked. If there was one thing he was good at, it was carrying the flow of a conversation. “I’m here in Mauville City to visit one of them in fact. What about you? Are you here to challenge the Mauville gym? Register for the Hoenn League?”

20100417214615%21238Smoochum.png

There were few other reasons for pokemon trainers traveling to different regions…though sight-seeing was a good enough reason as any. Whether one decided to participate in any contests or not, traveling in itself was a good learning experience—or so Jenny told him—and since phantom thievery hadn’t worked out for him, switching sides to be a detective and chasing down cases worked just fine. Might even be more fun in fact.

Meanwhile, Queen—who’d preened at being called adorable—hopped back onto Blair’s shoulder before psychically stealing her trainer's fries one at a time to munch on as she watched Jay eat. She saw the redhead's attention drift to another table so she glanced at it as well before looking back at the fries. Then Jay. Then back to the fries. Being cute had all kinds of uses, after all. She also knew Jay wasn't human because she couldn't sense his mind at all, but she hadn't a clue what he might be. Therefore Queen couldn't help but be curious.

"I try my best~." The mature Absol gave a curtsy of the head. Their scolding tone was gone now that Galahad had backed off, replaced with instead a hint of humor. "No, no...I'm okay." And Sela took a seat at the cafeteria table of destiny, taking a deep breath. This was her chance. This was her duty. No matter what role this rowdy girl had...Sela had to do this.

Now, more than ever, she couldn't afford to let herself slip up. Not with the entire region at stake.

"...My name is Sela Asper. I'm a Psychic who can sense danger and disasters. My absol, Orie, can do the same—it's actually amazing how they can do it without Psychic powers and with just their horn!—" Ahem. Sela had to suddenly stop herself. Back on track. "...But I digress. It'll be hard to believe, but you have to..." Deep breaths. People always had a hard time believing her. It was a constant challenge for Sela—having foreknowledge of disaster, yet having nobody believe her. But Sela had to do this. Sela took one last deep breath,

And the ball dropped.

"...The entire region of Hoenn will soon suffer weather-based catastrophe unlike anything ever seen, before. You, everybody you know, and everybody here, are currently in danger. There is a good chance the people in this room will even be dead before next year comes...with the sheer scale of the approaching disaster, I believe that there's a chance Legendary Pokemon may be involved."
...Sela's voice was steady. Her face was cool, locked into a state of calm determination. Each word she spoke held a maturity far beyond her age; each word carried a grave weight that would take a master liar to recreate. Because it was the truth. It was the truth Sela carried every waking moment. It was the truth that drove her here in the first place. As she spoke, though...a slight pink aura surrounded her fignertip. It was strong enough that Mare didn't even need her Aura to sense the physic powers—anybody and everybody could see it with the naked eye.

Somewhere else, Queen watched as a few of her fries were surrounded in the same pink aura, discreetly floating away. Sela continued. "I know that a sane person's first reaction would be to walk away, and call me crazy. But..." Sela's voice...took a tone for the pleading. "...Please. I'm begging you. If you walk away here...you're damning everybody. Everything. So, please...believe me."

...The fries floated over, and Sela took a moment. Closing her eyes. Taking another deep breath. And she re-opened them, re-composed once more. "...Any questions, so far?" And Sela took a bite of her snagged fries, floating over to her mouth as she leaned forward on the table.

This was always the hardest part.

A soft chuckle escaped the teen at Blair's comment, a possible attempt at wooing her in both hers and Jay's mind, regarding her accent. But it seemed that her dialect wasn't the initial cause to draw the man's attention, rather it had to do with the twins. It was true that Alto and Sonata's species were high uncommon, if not extremely rare, to see in every region away from Galar. At hearing Blair proclaim himself as a detective Jay's teal gaze shot towards him momentarily before slowly returning to his main point of interest located a few tables away from them. This was certainly not the most trust worthy person to be spending time talking to in the Zoroark's mind. For all he knew this man could've caught wind on a missing politician's daughter and had figured out who they were before dragging them back to Kalos. "Oh wow! A detective! That's a hard line of work you put yourself in," Whimsy gasped, "The community and your fellow officers must really appreciate you." As the conversation drifted onto the blonde's surprisingly good grasp of the native language she chuckled, "Well I guess this means taking those foreign language classes in school payed off. I'm a little surprised myself, but even back home there were natives that struggled with keeping up in conversation." The Zoroark was proud that something he taught his trainer had stuck with her. That thing being that it's fine to tell the truth, but not the whole truth. This was what he wanted her to learn the most if to keep her whole true identity a secret while starting a new life in a different region.

"Kalos is a rather unique region," she replied before taking another bite to eat, then continuing, "Most of the people that move there want to become stars whether it's fashion or in films. I've heard a few say that in order to be a star you have to move to one," Whimsy broke into a giggle, "So where else is there to go besides the star shaped region of Kalos?" Boy foreigners sure were funny to listen to sometimes. It took a moment for her to compose herself again, glancing at Blair she gave him her full attention once again, "Sorry about that. But it's nice that your friends still call you from time to time. As for picking up accents I heard that it's quite common depending on how long you've been living in one area." Whimsy pushed her bowl to the side enough to allow her to place her elbow on the edge of the table. This conversation with Blair had to be the most exciting one she had ever had. Back home it was always talking about business and politics, but this, this was a genuine normal conversation. With a normal human being! Not a senator, magazine editor, the rich or famous, but a normal person!

Whimsy's interest piqued when Blair mentioned he was here visiting a friend, how nice that must be, but when he inquired on her reason of visiting she chuckled at his guesses, "Actually I'm not one for battling, well, not willingly enough to challenge the gyms of Hoenn. I'm here because I wanted to explore a place I've never been before," reaching to her side the teen patted the case containing her beloved instrument, "But I'm also here to start up my career through my journeys. I thought that the easiest way would be to share my music through my travels."

While Whimsy conversed with Blair, Jay kept his eyes one the teenaged girls a few tables away. It seemed that things were settling down as the Absol stepped in between both parties and quelling the situation. Seeing an one of Orie's kind was a rarity, but was also not always the best sign. As he listened in on the conversation from a distance he couldn't help but to feel watched. Teal irises glanced off in Blair's direction as he noticed that Queen was watching him, making him blush slightly as he turned his attention back onto the girls. Please spot looking at me kid! I'm trying to eavesdrop here, he mildly pleaded in his mind while keeping focus on Mare and Sela. Jay listened carefully as to what the young psychic was saying, a dreading pit formed in his stomach, but he maintained his poker face while continuing to eat. If what the girl spoke of was true then perhaps their decision to come here might've been a mistake. But for the most part the dark-type ignored the 'crazy talk' of world ending natural disasters. Plus it seemed that whatever it was didn't directly concern his trainer. If anything they buy a ticket and head to a different region away from here.

Mare froze with her sandwich halfway to her mouth. This was a lot to process. Psychics, seeing the future, world ending disasters. And somehow she was caught up in this. Sela was right, her first reaction would be to walk away and call her crazy. Not necessarily in that order.

And yet, she didn't. Maybe it was because she was frozen in shock. Maybe it was because she could somehow sense the truth in her words. Maybe it was her latent and yet to be discovered aura powers sensing it. Or maybe it was the fact that Sela had just made Kalos Fries float. Somebody was probably mad about that but at least they weren't her fries.

After a minute or so, Mare finally took a bite of her sandwich and then set it down. Once she finished chewing and swallowing, she took a deep breath.

"You're crazy." She said, putting her hands together and pointing at Sela. "How on earth am I important to stopping any sort of disaster? I'm not really the heroic type. I'm more likely to start a disaster than stop one."

And with a sincere sense of ingenuity, an earnest innocence,

"I have no clue."
Sela shrugged, tilting her head a bit as she did so.

"I mean...you can call it destiny, I guess. Or you can call it sheer coincidence. But I think that there's no real way to know if it's either..." Of course, the girl meant that. Sure, she could make some Kalos fries float with her mind—sure, she could predict these oncoming disasters—sure, she could even receive visions of what was to come. But...it didn't mean that Sela ever held any kind of answer to it all. As for why things happened, as for what to do about them. All Sela could do was try and work with what she had. With her limited abilities, with her small amount of foreknowledge...Sela had to do all she can. And maybe—just maybe—the people in her visions would do the same. "...So, don't worry about it too much! If we find out why, we will. If not...well, that's not really a reason to not try, right?" In the end, after all...Sela was just a 16 year-old girl. Not some prophet. Just...a broke-hobo-wandering-oracle—a vagrant Physic. Yeah, that sounded a lot better.

"Oh—There's other people, too. I believe they're nearby, as well."
Her fingers went on with their small twirling motion...a coin now spinning in the air as she continued. "I think two are actually really nearby. They're facing a similar situation like yours." Then, with a psychic flip of the coin, "...And...if you had to ask me where I fit in?"

...The coin landed straight in her palm, somehow standing straight-up on one of its sides. "...Beyond those two Pokemon, and my limited Psychic abilities...I'm actually not strong. I don't think I could ever take on this sort of thing, especially alone. The absol doesn't even fight...so all I really have is my gallade, haha!" And the girl awkwardly laughed. Offering a week, accepting smile. It wasn't really self-deprecating—it was the truth. Sela was not a strong Trainer. Sela was not a strong Leader. While she had her resolve...well, will alone wouldn't stop the disaster. While she had her foreknowledge...well, how much could she really do with it alone? No. Sela was not strong. Sela...needed allies.

"—But, uhm—In the end I just seriously don't know why! I just know that you'll be involved somehow, so I sort of have to warn you!" —But just like that, the girl suddenly snapped to back how she was before. Back to a much more youthful girl, rather than the burdened sibyl she had acted like just a few moments ago. Leaning backwards into her seat, as Mare pointing the finger at her... "...So, uh—please don't punch me. Please?"

“A future musician, hm?” Blair remarked. “Color me impressed. I hope our friendship means I get a ticket to a concert of yours one day.”

He gave the blond girl his business card, which included the title ‘Freelance Pokemon Detective Blair’ (as opposed to Phantom Thief Labir) and his contact information. He also showed her his forged detective’s badge—flashing it quickly—which displayed his "authenticity" as an officer of the law and gave him entry to certain secure and, even private locations, for the purpose of investigation. No one really believed it when he told them he worked with the Officer Jenny of Rustboro (in the unofficial capacity), so Blair took it upon himself make his own badge…since actual police training was a bother to go through.

He wasn't all that law-abiding anyway.

“So if you or your band," He referred to Jay and the two Toxtricitys that traveled with her. "ever decide to visit Rustboro in your travels, or if you ever find yourself in need of a detective, feel free to hit me up. That's where my hometown in is at. Home of the Devon Cooperation where everyone loves rocks~ I only intend to be here for a couple of days at most. ”

Meanwhile, Queen kept staring curiously at Jay until she noticed a portion of her fries floating into someone else’s mouth. Angry that her—anything that belonged to Blair was hers anyway—fries were being taken and feeling as if she were being challenged, Queen’s eyes glowed blue. In response, all the food at Mare and Sela’s table became in encased in a bluish aura. However, before Queen could snatch it all away, she felt Blair’s hand on her head telling her to stop.

20100417214615%21238Smoochum.png

“Smoochum! Smoo-smoo’chum!” Pointing at Mare’s table, Smoochum tried to explain to her trainer that the other human started it by stealing 'her' fries first, but Blair only lazily stroked her hair until Queen gave up with a huff and settled for glaring menacingly (or as menacingly as a smoochum can manage) at the human psychic at the other table.

Blair continued pleasantly. “That said, New Mauville really is quite stunning and I can see why my friend likes living here so much. I actually heard that the city was renovated to resemble Lumiose City in Kalos so I wonder if some of it looks familiar to you. In fact, this city may be the reason for some of my friends deciding to give the glamorous life of Kalos a try—not that I blame them. I can understand the fun of putting on a costume~

The detective passed his irate pokemon the remainder of his fries to cheer her up. He wasn’t blind. He noticed when they started to float and disappear. However, the former thief simply thought it amusing. “Truth is, we never know what we want to do in life until we give it a try. Whether it's an arena stage or a concert stage, matters not. I can’t say I have any plans of competing in the Hoenn League, but since I’m already here, I figured I may as well see if I can earn myself a Dynamos Badge as a souvenir.” Blair shrugged, a playful smirk on his face. “Win or lose, it’d something to brag about when I return home and gives me a chance to see how Mauville’s gym leader compares to our Roxanne. Ace, in theory, shouldn’t have any problems plowing through an electric gym either~But of course, new Mauville has a lot to do now, or so I’ve been told, and I passed by several music stores on my way to the food court if you want to get a sense of the sort of music Hoennians enjoy.” Blair winked. “They do say all the best musicians start off by performing on the streets so, if you’re willing, I’m sure the crowd here at the food court wouldn't mind it if you played us a song. In fact, they'd probably appreciate a bit of dinning music to accompany their meal—ah, give me a moment please. Queen seems to want more fries.”

Leaving Queen to guard his seat, Blair went to buy more Mauville fries for his pokemon, as well as some additional snacks, before returning to his table. As he passed the human psychic with the absol and gallade, he whispered playfully to her. “Just so you know, the act of thievery makes a person less believable~”

Blair should know. Even now after he’d set his mask aside, Jenny still didn’t trust him alone with her wallet. Naturally, Blair didn’t care a wit about a couple of fries and he often shared food with his friends anyway as the quickest way to building friendship was through the sharing of food--especially when it came to pokemon. However, they were strangers and, as a good upstanding adult that he was now, Blair figured he should warn kids away from the path he took. Or, if they were going to do it, be really good at it.

"So what say you?" Blair asked as Whimsy as he settled back in his seat, Queen once more hopping on his shoulder as he handed her the carton of deep fried potato sticks. "Personally, I would love to hear you play your songs. What do you think, Jay? Are you a music performer as well?"

Blair included the other 'human' in the conversation since it felt awkward to leave him out of it and, while he did notice that Queen gave Jay funny looks, he had no idea what she could mean by it.

Taking the business card in her hand she looked it over, glancing over at Blair as he flashed his badge. As he went on to speaking of how she should call him up while in the city of Rustboro, or was in desperate need of his help. Whimsy was considering the idea of possibly avoiding Rustboro as her father has had businessmen from Devon Corp. visit to discuss setting up a lab over in Kalos for research purposes. Chuckling she slid the card into the pocket of her shorts, "I'm glad that the first person I met here was you. As my friend I would be more than happy to give you front row tickets to my show," shooting him a playful wink as her laughter started dying down. Though at hearing Queen seemingly protest something, Whimsy couldn't help but to glimpse at the Smoochum in confusion since she hadn't witnessed the floating french fries moments earlier. The conversation she was having with Blair had captured the girl's full attention since the talk, and company, have been rather pleasant since they met. Though as the young man began to talk once again Whimsy had no issue transitioning her full attention on to him yet again. "No wonder why I get a homey fell from this place," she replied with a small sigh, "As for the costumes the enjoyment only lasts for so long."

Blair's next words touched her. He was right. No one really knew what they wanted to do until they tried in. Had she not been curious long ago she would've never realized her passion. As he went on though Whimsy smiled warmly at him, "I'll have to check them out before I move on to my next destination. But I also would like to watch your gym battle if you'll allow me to tag along. I'm curious as to you Hoennians do things."Blair's statement caused her blue orbs to dilate as the very idea of performing here and now. Before she could speak to him more he excused himself to get Queen some more fries.

"Jay, I need to do this," Whimsy stated seriously, slamming her hands on the table slightly while her eyes were still as wide as saucers The disguised Pokémon held his hands up, disbelief written on his face at his trainer's sudden desire, "Alright Whim chill, chill. You just need to be careful with what you play, how you play it, and remember that we can't stay here too long. I've been overhearing a conversation and I'm starting to think that we should probably start moving on soon." A grin spread across the teen's face as her partner gave her the greenlight to perform, causing her to start opening her guitar case. As Blair returned, stating that he wanted to hear her play, only added fuel to her fire, "I'm going to rock everyone's world! Alto, Sonata, let's show them what we're made of!" The Toxtricity twins cheered as their trainer hooked her portable amp to her belt loop and the three stood up.

Hearing that he was being spoken to, Jay turned to look at Blair. A smirk appearing on his face, "I've heard her play since she was around ten, so I know her talents. But I'm not a musician," his illusion fluttered enough for the man to catch a glimpse of the real Jay, "I'm a master of disguise." Glancing towards his trainer the disguised Zoroark nodded his head in the girl's direction. "Looks like she's going to start getting people to notice."

There she stood. A blue eyed, blonde haired girl stood in front of a table, pink electric guitar in hand and slung over her shoulder with the twins at her side. "Lets get their attention." Alto and Sonata nodded their heads in approval as the three started playing, making their way to the middle of the food court. People stopped to watch, soon only Whimsy and the twins music were the only noise in the room. As the music played each person start feeling pumped and excited, but didn't quite understand why. People and Pokémon watched on the edge of their seats. Now standing in the middle of the room after their instrumental had ended, all eyes on them, Whimsy raised her hands up, "Hello people of Hoenn!" Some cheering erupted in the food court, making Whimsy grin, "A little Fletchling told me you all might enjoy some music with you lunch. So how would you feel if I song everyone a song to help, settle the tension an of you might be feeling." People in the crowd cheered once more, causing the girl to snicker while adjusting her guitar a bit. Looking between Alto and Sonata the girl nodded as she counted down from three, started strumming, and eventually started singing. A new feeling flooded through the room, creeping into the hearts and souls of those who listened. It was a feeling of peace that quelled even the most battle hungry/ready trainers. "Good isn't she?" Jay's voice a whisper as he smirked at Blair and Queen.

When her song ended there were cheers and clapping from the audience causing the teen to beam with pride alongside her Pokémon.

And that's when everything went to hell. As soon as Whimsy finished her song, a large boom shook the food court. The people in the food court whispered among themselves. Then there was another boom. And another. Rubble began to fall all over the place. Mare and her Pokemon just barely managed to dodge one piece or debris that had almost fallen on top of her.

"What the heck is going on?" Fiji cried.

"What, you think I know?" Mare asked. "Let's just get the hell out of here!"

Mare returned all her Pokemon except Fiji, who climbed onto her shoulder, and ran towards the exit. Before she could get there, however, another boom shook the food court and a ton of rubble fell down, blocking the exit.

"Oh come on!" Mare shouted irritably. She glanced at Fiji. "I don't suppose you have any moves that can take care of this?"

"Nothing." The Treecko replied.

Mare groaned.
"Ugh! Fine!" She jumped onto the rubble pile and began digging. The effort was likely futile but it was better than doing nothing. She looked back at the food court. "Is there anybody who could, I don't know, help!?"

Iosefa had been completely spoilt for choice as he arrived at the large food mall, his mouth agape with a dabble of drool already beginning to form upon his bottom lip as he glanced from side to side, wide eyes glistening as they fell upon various delicacies that he had only ever heard off from others. Whilst the Alolan islands had their fair share of variety and specialties, their range of cuisine paled in comparison to what was displayed right in front of him; the Hoennese food being vastly different to what he was accustomed to. Unable to control his own bodily functions, his ravenous stomach had growled ever so slightly as the various aroma's began to tease as his scents; the alluring wafting of new food being all so seductive to the lover of food.

A couple of locals had glanced towards the tropically dressed man, a young girl holding her Mama's hand pointing and laughing as the sound of Iosefa's gut grumbling was heard by her. It was a habit of his body and one he had long since learned to accept, even if it drew the attention of others for whatever reasons. Worrying about it was a thing of the past and now he merely embraced it as another aspect of his ever developing persona.

With a hop, skip, step and a jump, Iosefa had made his way into the food mall, his right hand digging into his pockets for the leather wallet whilst his eyes scanned the various stalls, looking for the perfect delicacy for the day, until finally his eyes fell upon the longest line in the mall, one leading towards the infamous burger outlet that he had heard mad reviews about whilst staying at the nearby Inn. Closer and closer his feet brought him to the back of the line, the tangy yet succulent fragrance of beef emanating from the outlet causing his legs to almost buckle under the allure.

There had been talk of this franchise expanding into the region of Alola, establishing a store in Hau'oli City, though talks were eventually put on hold due to the logistical problems that it would bring. A major let down for Iosefa who had been looking forward to the grand opening. Alas, good things come to those who wait and right here, right now, Iosefa was standing in queue and on the verge of experiencing pure bliss.

A solid 15 minutes in line and Iosefa finally had his tray of food prepared, a large King Woopah meal with jalapeno cheese balls and chicken tenders as his sides. It was definetily a burger meal fit for a king, like the slogan of the company often suggested.

Passing by a table occupied by a blonde haired girl, a red haired man and a black haired guy with his Smoochum, Iosefa made his way to an empty table and seat in the far end of the mall, his stomach grumbling once more as it awaited for that moment he took the first bite, a moment he wouldn't soon forget due to the hype that had been swelling up within him.

Then... disaster.
Boom!..... Boom!.... BOOM!

With the agility of a ninjask, Iosefa had just about managed to save the burger as he dived away from the table before a large crash echoed all around him; sparks flying in all directions as the rest of the meal he had been so eager to dig into was destroyed. All around him, the sounds of various other people could be heard, some moaning in pain, some crying from the shock and many confused as to what exactly was happening. One old man in the far end had even screamed Earthquake, before diving under the safety of a large table with his nosepass.

Iosefa on the other hand had remained rather quiet, his hand clenching the burger as bits of salad fell to the floor. Rather then panicking, he was trying to grasp the severity of the situation and formulate a plan of action, the Kahuna in training attempting to fill the shoes of what a Kahuna should be for the people.

BOOOM!!!

"Earthquaaaaaakkkkeeee" screeched the old man once more, sending a few other people into panic as they two dived under the tables with their pokemon.

It was after the 4th boom that his attention was drawn towards the direction of the entrance and his eyes fell upon a brown haired girl attempting to dig her way out, near her another woman with her Absol and it was upon seeing the white furred pokemon that a few of the mutterings he had overheard began to make sense. Among the crying, shouting and confusion, he had heard a few people make comments about 'bad omens and disasters' as well as saying it was 'her fault', though at the time he had merely ignored it; though considering that there was an Absol in the room, it wasn't all too surprising that some people would think this way. A bad reputation for a pokemon that didn't really deserve it. Sighing at the small mindedness of those few individuals, Iosefa returned to the problem at hand and reached down towards his belt where 5 pokeballs presently hung.

"Come out Tamah!, Come out Enele!" commanded Iosefa as he tossed two pokeballs skyward with his free hand. The other was still clenching tightly on the delicious burger that he had only just managed to save from pure annihilation as a large lighting fixture fell upon his table. Expanding in size as they hit their peak altitude, the two pokeballs burst open and In a flash of red two pokemon appeared. The first, a creamy coloured pokemon, its serpentine figure appearing amidst the dust that had quickly began to fill the room. "Sp.. sparce.." cried Tamah as its small angelic wings began to spread outward, allowing the pokemon to glide gently towards the ground next to Iosefa, where she quickly began to push herself against his legs. Despite her experience in combat and having met many people on Alola, she was still the shy type and it was unsurprising to the large man that she had already attempted to shy away from the scene around them.

The second pokemon to appear was Enele, a smeargle whose entrance was far more flamboyant than that of its fellow comrade. Using its tail to direct the rest of his movement, Enele had backflipped and twisted several times in the air before 'super-hero' landing next to Iosefa's left side, his long prehensile tail already at work as he began to draw a picture in the dust and dirt that had accumulated around them; the pokemon caring very little for the chaos that had ensued.

"Tamah.." muttered Iosefa as he leaned down and patted the pokemon atop her head. "I need you to help everyone around here... can you do that for me?" he questioned, stlll gently patting her head. "I need you to use Drill run on that pile of rubble over where that girl is.. can you do that for me?" he inquired before glancing over to Enele. Iosefa was well aware that despite Tamah's frailties, she was still quite reliable when called upon. Enele on the other hand... he sometimes got a bit too fixated on his art.

"Enele, I'll need you to use mimic on Tamah and aim a drill run towards the same pile as well. Together you two should be able to make a whole big enough for us to walk out of"continued Iosefa as he turned his attention over to the smeargle. Enele by now had turned his back towards Iosefa instead focusing on the drawing he had already started, though after a few moments of no reaction, his arm finally extended outwards and a a small thumbs up signalled his willingness to help.

"Alola~! Little girl!" shouted Iosefa as he stood to full height and wiped some dust off of his face. With his free hand, he waved towards Mare. "I'll need you to move aside, my partners will drill us a way out of here" he continued, gesturing down towards Tamah and Enele.

Mare clenched her fist and grit her teeth. Little girl, was it? This guy was just asking to be laid out. The only reason Mare wasn't taking a swing at him was that there were bigger things to worry about.

BOOM!

Like that, for example.

Mare made a sound that was a combination between a growl and a resigned sigh. "Fine!"

She unclenched her fist and stepped aside, vowing to teach at least one of her Pokemon Rock Smash when she got out of this.

"That's some really good self control you've got going on there, boss." Fiji snarked.

"Shut up." Mare growled. "And quit calling me boss."

The first boom was enough to silence the whole crowd, and cause Whimsy to quickly start walking back to her table, as the ground shook. Her Pokémon on high alert as the twins escorted her back, surveying the room, as Jay stood from his seat. When the second and third hit, rumble started falling from the floors above them. "Alto! Sonata! Protective measures!" Dropping his illusion the Zoroark leapt over the table, past Blair, to stand at his trainer's side and his fellow Pokémon companions. The three of them readying attacks, Dark Pulse, Poison Jab, and Fire Punch. They attacked any debris that came close to crushing Whimsy, and themselves. Ears flicking Jay glanced around at a few nearby table that were in the line of danger before firing a Dark Pulse, obliterating rubble that fell from the ceiling.

As things started calming down, and dust was settling, the group looked around at the mess that was left. Whimsy was clinging to Jay's mane, "Is it over," she asked her partner in a whispering tone. Jay sniffed the air, ears flicking, then he gazed over his shoulder at his trainer, "Ark," he confirmed, placing a reassuring paw on her hand. The twins moved closer to their trainer, both placing a hand on each of the girl's shoulders and gripping them softly. Blue eyes looked between both Toxtricitys as she smiled gently at the two, "Thanks you guys," she whispered. Taking a deep breath Whimsy shook off her jitters and looked around, surveying the area that was left in ruins by the explosions. Those who didn't get to make it out were dazed, confused, by all that had happened a few moments ago; however, a couple were starting to panic. Whimsy sighed softly, panicking was most definitely not going to solve the issue of how they were going to get out of this. Jay taught her long ago that panic never fixed anything. Her eyes landed on Mare who was trying to dig out the exit and yelling, rather angrily, for any help.

A fourth explosion set off somewhere, causing the building to shake again, and causing more people to panic. Sighing to herself, guitar in case, she looked at those who were left, "I guess it's up to me to make sure people keep their heads on straight." Glancing at Alto the two seemed to share a mental understanding as they nodded to each other before she turned her attention to Jay and Sonata, "I want you two to try and help those two people over there that are trying to free the exit. Alto and I will defuse the panic," she explained calmly to her Pokémon. Jay nodded as he donned his signature illusion, "You got it Whimsy," turquoise eye glanced down to the Toxtricity, "Let's go Sonata," he ushered as the two made their way to Mare and Iosefa. Whimsy turned her full attention to Alto as she smiled at him, "Would you please strum me up a lullaby, Alto," she asked kindly, which of course was answered with a hearty, "Tox!" Alto began strumming a soothing lullaby, slowly gaining the attention of the crowd. As he did Whimsy grabbed a sturdy enough chair and stood on it to overlook everyone. After a couple moments of strumming, Whimsy started singing a wordless lullaby. The panicking of the crowd was quelled quickly as Whimsy's song filled the room, piercing the hearts and souls of the people. Soon enough, they were all calmed.

Meanwhile Jay and Sonata walked up to Mare and Iosefa as the two humans were discussing how to bust through the debris. "Don't mind us. Our trainer sent us over to help. Just tell us what you need done and we'll do it," Jay stated with a smirk before his illusion faded away to reveal his true self. The Zoroark and Toxtricity stood silently awaiting the course of action they were taking to get out of this place.

Iosefa smiled as the young girl stepped aside allowing him space alongside both Enele and Tamah, his two pokemon following along and taking center stage as they prepared to drill a hole through the fallen debris. Iosefa all the while mentally preparing himself for what awaited them upon the other side of this chaos. Were this some kind of attack, then surely there'd be the culprits nearby, would a fight ensue the moment they broke through?

These thought swirled through Iosefa's mind, even as he turned to face the group of people also caught up in this mess, the chaos and confusion simmering down as a young blonde began to sing a wordless lullaby alongside her pokemon; a type that Iosefa had not seen on Alola before and if that wasn't surprising enough, his gaze soon fell upon a young red haired man alongside another one of those purple pokemon; the two approaching the area in which Iosefa and Mare were currently.

Iosefa was initially confused upon the man's introduction; the red hair newcomer initially saying 'Our trainer' when he first spoke, though before Iosefa could question the absurd choice of words, his answer was revealed as the red haired man faded into nonexistence and instead revealed himself to be a pokemon as well; a zoroark which Iosefa had heard tales about from the islanders.

"Alola~, if thats the case I will need both of you to deflect any flying debris away as Tamah and Enele drill us a hole out, as well as keep an eye above us... in case it decides to rain debris or if whatever caused the first four booms decides to cause another" spoke Iosefa as he pointed above himself. Drilling a hole out was indeed the fastest way he could think of making it out of here, but there was also the risk that it would destabilize the already unstable structure. "Also, be on your guard. If this is some kind of man made disaster, the culprits may still be nearby and ready for a fight" warned Iosefa before he turned to face Mare.

"Little girl, you too. Have your partner be on guard for any debris or any possible repercussions of us forcing our way out of here... Ideally I'd prefer it if you stayed behind us adults, but something tells me that you're not the type to shy away..." smiled Iosefa, now turning his attention back to the problem in front of them.

"Tamah, Drill run. Enele, Mimic" commanded Iosefa, both pokemon nodding and following through with the commands as Tamah began to spin rapidly, using her tail to begin drilling through the debris. Meanwhile, Enele's eyes began to glow as he grabbed his tail, the green tip turning a light yellow as it began to use an invisible canvas to paint a replica of Tamah, the creation coming to life and beginning to mimic Tamah's drill run.
