Dice Slayers - OOC

Characters
Here
I am considering an alchemist with the appearance of a child if my schedule permits. I really enjoy your work. :csmile:

That's highly unusual but I'll be interested in hearing the idea out!
I would say that him deliberately consumed an Elixirs of higher rank at a young age (before the rings fully developed) caused some aftermath, one which altered his apparent age.

Hello, I'd like to ask when is the deadline of the cs?

We'll say February 18th, provisionally.

Also I promised you a School but I got distracted - I'll do that now.

Okay, try this on.
I'll add more spells if you go beyond Logos 3. Do note that due to the freeform spellcasting, you ask to achieve any spell effect within the thematic purview of your Pattern, not just these ones. This is just what you're best at.
You can always start only knowing the basics and learn more as time goes on.

The Echidnean School of Shadowbinding
A rarely practiced School even during the Magocracy, the techniques of the Echidnean practice focus on creating minions of magically condensed darkness. Shadowbinders were generally considered dangerous but effective, plagued by rumours of their creations acting outside their control.

School Boons
Reroll up to two dice when creating and commanding Darklings and related constructs. The difficulty of memory-manipulation and stealth effects increased by 1.

Innate Spells - no risk of Manashock

Logos 1 - Darksight
The Magus passively sees in darkness as clearly as light.

Logos 2 - Arms of the Abyss
The Magus can form tendrils of darkness from any nearby shadow to bind and constrict targets.

Logos 3 - Shadow Cutting Meditation
The Magus can split their shadow off from themselves, transforming it into a Darkling under their direct control. Their body remains in a meditative state while this is active.
The Darkling form can slip through tiny gaps and hide in shadows or darkness. It possesses all the Mental Attributes of the Magus but half their Physical and Social.
Spellcasting in this form is limited to other spells of this School.

So I will be at my best when I reach Logos 3 since that's when I'm able to use animations. Good thing shadow manipulation doesn't have a penalty or this'll be an annoying start lol.

Hmmmm so when I make a darkling it doesn't have a mind of its own? Meaning I have to 'transfer' my consciousness inside that darkling? or this is a special one since it's 'Directly under my control'. Sorry I'm just confused since I thought darklings have an intelligence of their own, though a heartwright animation is certainly better.

This is a special case. Other Darklings you to make through a slower spellcasting process will work as written, but the one from this spell is much quicker and easier to create. You could make other Darklings through the appropriate ritual magic, then use that power to lead them as an extra-spooky Darkling yourself.

Since animation magic requires you to use materials such as gems, silk, etc. Can I make it so I use my own shadow or the shadow of other people to form Darklings? I'm thinking of making little surveillance rats through this method since they're small and have a relatively easy "task". So, I'm assuming they'll take less materials to make.

I'll allow you to use shadow torn from actual rats for that, with a tiny piece of silk cut from say, a stolen dress.

I am taking it slow, already have a rough idea of the background and motive of my character. I am considering calling a friend over. Will that be okay?

Go right ahead, and take your time; I don't mean to rush anyone, it's just a healthy OOC makes for a viable game.

I'm currently reading the rest of the docs and familiarizing myself with the system of the game since I'm not used to this before attempting to make a character sheet. But all in all I have a solid idea of the world and what I would like my character to be.

I designed it: I barely expect my fans to finish a character in less than a week, so no one needs to push themselves.

Cool. I was looking into maybe Bloodhunter or Inquisitor as the archetype for my potential concepts. I gotta think more on which I like more, though.

That's cool. Are you leaning more mage-hunting Inquisitor or Demon-hunting? I would push for the latter given we have a Magus in the party.
Bloodhunters are just chill generally - it's hard to judge people from their perspective.

After looking at the mechanical aspects and while backing is really good, I think I'll settle on BH. The Church backing stuff is cool but I don't really like handling minions (for lack of a better word)

Anyone given thought to where their character come from? Just tapping away at them?

I'm thinking of my character coming from Kelen, specifically somewhere near Ymon. With the House of mercy in Ymon, I imagine my character trying to sneak inside for his own benefit. His goal is not breaking the other magi out but to try and snatch some books about magic or anything with a magical background. Of course he's discovered and the usual Hiding-from-the-church-and-running-away-from-the-inquisitors kind of plot mixed in there before heading to H'kaer. Though, I'm still debating of using this since I don't think it's even possible for one untrained magus to somehow sneak inside the College but that's what I'm thinking of right now.

As for progress, I'm currently appointing the stats and attributes trying to juggle them to find the best combination. I'm a little confused about some stuff but I have the docs as a reference lol.

I'm glad to clear up any confusion.

I would suggest not running to H'kaer - best case scenario, they try and put you in their top secret Magus testing program. Worst case, they think the shadow magic means you're a servant of the Vampires.

Magehunters are very susceptible to bribes; you could actually have potentially bought a book on the black market in Ymon and actually attracted Inquisitorial attention with all the thievery to pay for it. If anyone was going to sneak into the prison it'd be a Shadow, though.
I am increasingly thinking I'll let your character start at Logos 2.
