The only way out is through
The war for true justice is over.
The fated battle between the forces of good and evil has reached it's conclusion. The world had never experienced destruction on such a massive scale since the extinction of the dinosaurs. Many countries put their faith in a higher power to pray that a tomorrow would come. It was the legendary hosts that challenged the wardens of fate itself and won for the betterment of humanity, but you'll never know that.
Welcome to Brookfield, many years after humanity's future was challenged. In the past, it was a humble town bustling with life and youth. It was also the birth place of the legendary hosts. Today, Brookfield is a crude mockery of their image. As the years passed by, the upcoming hosts began to change. The contracts in which bonded hosts to Zodiacs is no more. Violent impulses overtook new hosts, and soon the world suffered major terrorist attacks mostly by the works of lone hosts. As a result of thousands dead due to supernatural recklessness, the Dominion, an ancient non-host organization built in secrecy had stepped out into the light and declared hosts illegal in all corners of the globe. To the public, any host could carry enough firepower to bring down a small nation and must be contained on sight, thus beginning the hunt for supernatural beings.
Spearheaded by the Dominion, the hunt expanded throughout all reaches of the world. Those who didn't comply were killed on sight, and those that did were enslaved into the military or simply never heard from again. Within 48 hours, nowhere was safe. Humanity's technology was cast decades into the future thanks to the Dominion's ethereal harvesting of captured hosts, which was retrofitted into today's tech. Rotor-less drones prowled areas of the world that was still recovering from the war, searching for hidden hosts lucky enough to flee major cities. This extreme culling of hosts weren't limited to hosts with offensive capabilities or the newly made host - it extended towards the very hosts that won back humanity's future, too. These legendary hosts became the world's most dangerous monsters to the public's eyes, a single member potentially capable of killing off millions of people.
The war for true justice is over, now the war for survival begins.
"Radar's showing the target is headed down 49th, just past Stanford Ave. Keep on 'em." reported the pilot of a Dominion-issued VTOL unit, which smoothly glided past a high-reaching building as it kept it's spotlight on it's prey, a single host by the name of Dario. Further back a couple blocks a pack of smaller unmanned drones raced over street traffic, their target just barely outside of their crosshairs. "Don't open fire, there are too many civilians on this road." commanded a masked figure who leaned out of the VTOL which overlooked the chase. "Besides, I want to deal with this one personally." Her altered tone solemn.
