Fantasy You have been isekai'd!

Bunesh

Filled with DETERMINATION
Lots of people have heard stories or maybe even fantasized about being sucked into a different and exciting world, but a small group of people actually experience it! Yanked into a new world they quickly learn that this isn't quite like the stories they've heard.

Players of a popular MMO called Eternal Tales Online find themselves ripped into the game world which is frightening and disorienting for the players as they are now their characters with the abilities and equipment they had originally outfitted their characters with.

Naturally, one would think they are here to defeat a demon lord or some great evil before returning to their home... but they would be wrong. As it turns out, The Holy Empire of Isklen has already long vanquished the evil, an act that was certainly not in the original game, but to ensure that no creatures of darkness would rise again, they've spread across the lnd, waging war any who resist them, seeking to unite all under the banner of The Holy Empire.

The paladins, once a symbol of righteousness have now become a sign of fear, as they seek to strike out anything unholy and purge it from this world.

This includes Magic, for they have come to the conclusion that magic is evil, dangerous and must be firmly controlled or completely destroyed, as every great crisis that has fallen upon the land has found its roots in magic. An attitude that, while understandable was never really a major part of the original game.

You were summoned, not by the Empire but by a group of desperate mages in the crumbled ruins of a once great magical academy, to be the counter balance to the blinding Holy Light that threatens to swallow and consume the world.

You are The Heroes of Darkness, here to restore balance.

This would be hard enough on its own, but you quickly discover that while you can access your in-game menues, options from it are slowly disappearing, if they all disappear will you be able to go home at all?

An idea sort of in the same vein as stuff like Log Horizon, but I wanted to play out a story where the characters have to struggle with the idea of what it means to be a 'hero of darkness'. Does t hat mean you're a villain? You are opposing a holy empire who draws its power from the light after all...

Character specifics and the world itself can be fleshed out in pre-RP discussions, anyone interested?
