Lee Ji Woo

Location: At Work [Convience Store]

The bustle of the restaurant became a solid buzzing at the back of Ji Woo's mind. People talked animatedly with their friends, laughing loudly as they clicked soju glasses for another shot. One patron, with his tie wrapped messily around his head, stood up making a slurred toast to the rest of his table. Ji Woo quickly cleared off another table, wiping any spills the previous drunk occupants had created. Her feet ached and she wanted nothing more than to sit down but she smiled politely at the customers as she passed by, trying to ignore the pounding that was starting to form at the back of her head. "Ji Woo-ah!" the restaurant's owner shouted at her. "Don't you have another job to go to?" Ji Woo glanced at the clock on the wall and cursing at the time it displayed on its white face. Quickly, she untied her apron, rushing over to the employee's room to change out of her uniform. The door slammed closed behind her in her haste as she exited. The restaurant owner, a smaller, portly ahjumma, laughed at her antics, telling her to hurry affectionately. The polite smile Ji Woo had earlier, grew into a genuine grin as she called back, the store's door jingling after her sentence.

She brushed her hair over her shoulder, gripping her bag tighter as she ran to the bus stop. The restaurant she worked at was located in one of the busier areas of Seoul, gaining a lot of attention for its delicious food despite its humble beginnings. The owner was kind enough the give Ji Woo a job when she was desperately in need. The woman was almost like a grandmother, always giving Ji Woo any extra food form the restaurant that couldn't be used and sending Ji Woo home with side dishes when she'd made too much for her own family. Ji Woo was grateful for it took a little more strain off her own family.

As Ji Woo hopped onto the bus and collapsed into one of the seats, the headache that had been forming from the noise of the restaurant slowly disappeared. The aches in her feet however made themselves more known as she stared out the bus window as the lights of the city flashed passed and the cool night air drifted in through the open window, stirring the ends of hair. The bus was headed to a residential area and the houses steadily grew more expensive the deeper the bus went. Ji Woo pressed the button and the bus slowed to a stop. As she exited, she said a brief thank you to the driver before she dashed to the nearest convenience store.

"You're late," the worker Ji Woo was supposed to relieved said, snapping her gum. "Sorry," Ji Woo responded, moving behind the counter. The other girl sighed, rolled her eyes, and handed Ji Woo the vest she had been wearing. "Whatever." Ji Woo watched her leave with an eyebrow raised. With a shrug, she donned the vest, tossing her bag down by her feet. Because it was later at night, it was slow at the convenience store. The stocking of the shelves had already been taken care off and the main thing that would need to be done was throwing out any of the food that would spoil at midnight, but that was still a ways off. Even though it was boring, Ji Woo liked this job because it gave her plenty of opportunities to study. She reached down, pulled some study materials from her bag and settled in for the slow night.

He was handsome with short, wavy brown hair, and his face was fixed in a focused and determined gaze. Hissssss Within the granite room, sat a giant snake who resembled the Greek Medusa. She had the body and torso of a woman, black lips and eyes, and her hair was made of smaller snakes. A small breast-plate ensured some modesty. "At last SirNani123. You have come to die! I will make sure your suffering is renowned, even in hell!" SirNani123 threw up his golden shield as the beastwoman lunged forward. He narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth before yelling,

"Beast! You shall not triumph today! With the power bestowed upon me by the goddess, Leandra, I shall destroy you!!!" With his other hand, the guardian warrior thrusted a golden sword. It was pointed straight at the snake woman, and a white light suddenly began to emanate from it's tip. The snake stopped, shocked.

"W-what is that? No it can't possibly be..." She shrieked in fear and her body writhed in pain. The warrior took this time to lower his shield and charge towards her. He yelled, "AhhhHH!!!" readying his sword for the final blow. But something stopped him. A thick cloud of black smoke wrapped around his arms, refusing any movement. Countless smaller snakes suddenly appeared in the room. They seemed as if they were born from the shadows. Their eyes glowed purple. The creature holding the warrior hissed at him and suddenly more and more snakes began to wrap themselves around him. He yelled out in pain and the laughter of the giant snake woman echoed off the walls.

"You thought you could defeat me so easily? Fool!" The warrior continued to struggle but to no avail. Suddenly a large tail, the scaly end of the snake woman, came out of no where and wacked him into the wall. A red haze filled the area, and words floated onto the screen Game Over ☠

"God damnit!" Byung-Soo sat at the edge of the couch, leaning so close to the television screen that he might almost fall over. He was cross-legged with a soft blanket wrapped around him, starting at the top of his head. He looked like a wide-eyed, elderly woman in the dark room. Byung-Soo sighed and dropped the control onto the ground. He fell back into his cushioned seat, holding the blanket closer to him, pondering what to do next. Grrrrrrr. The man looked down at his stomach, poking it gently and nodding in approval. "Ramen it is!!!" Byung-Soo jumped up and the blanket fell to the floor. He threw on a burgundy hoodie that lay sprawled out across the couch and shoved his wallet into his back pocket.

A few minutes later and the young man was walking along the lit-up city streets. His hood was pulled over his head and he had his hands in his pockets. Right around the corner from his penthouse was a small convenience store he liked to visit, purely because of a specific brand of instant ramen they carried. Byung-Soo always seemed to be wearing clean, new-looking clothes, although he didn't scream rich, at least not in this setting. Dressed down in nothing but jeans, sneakers and a sweater, he seemed like any other well-to-do college student. When he got to the store, Byung-Soo pulled his hoodie back down and smiled politely at the cashier. He recognized her from his constant visits. Sadly, he knew the layout of the store like the back of his hand, and quickly made a b-line for the ramen section. He grabbed a package of the spiciest flavor and a can of melon cream soda before making his way back to the counter.

He had almost child-like expression of expectation on his face as he pulled out his wallet and looked up at the cashier. "Anyeong! How's your day been, miss?"

Lee Ji Woo

Location: At Work [Convience Store]

Ji Woo had been working in her book for a while before she heard the jingle of the bell over the door chime. Immediately, Ji Woo stopped writing, stood up, giving a quick bow while saying, "Annyeonghaseyo!" in a cheery tone to the young couple that walked in. Ji Woo's thigh muscles gave a miserable pang of protest at her sudden action. Normally, muscle aches weren't a problem but during the break before starting university Ji Woo had taken up more work. Now sore muscles were an almost daily companion.

The couple was quick in their gathering of snacks and drinks for what appeared to be a night in. The girl had her arm threaded through her boyfriend's, keeping him pulled in close almost like she just couldn't stand being even a millimeter apart from him. It was almost sickening to look at. Ji Woo rang up their items, the boyfriend handing her money while his eyes were glued to his girlfriend. Ji Woo was amazed at how oblivious the two of them were to their surroundings. She could probably forget to give the man his change and he wouldn't even notice. She cleared her throat, a polite smile once again on her face as the boyfriend met her gaze. "Your change, sir." The man nodded his thanks, taking his items. As the couple left, Ji Woo gave them another small bow.

With the store once again empty, Ji Woo sat back onto her stool, her muscles once again giving protest at the movement. Even with having her study materials with her, it could get quite boring in the convenience store. Besides, classes hadn't started yet, so she didn't have a ton of materials to study. It was more of a refresher study night anyways. She puffed out her cheeks, peering around the store for another activity to keep her occupied, at least for a short while. She'd rearranged one of the displays approximately five times before the bell jingled once more. She looked up, seeing the boy around her age that came into the store sometimes. His hood was pulled over his head, so she almost didn't recognize him but his posture and the way he immediately headed for the ramen was a dead giveaway.

When he placed a can of melon cream soda on the counter and she saw his child-like look on his face, she couldn't help an amused smile spread across her face. It reminded her too much of her younger twin brothers. They both loved melon cream soda, always begging for it whenever Ji Woo came home from working at the store. It had been a while since she'd brought any home for them. Maybe I'll bring them home some today. "Annyeonghaseyo. My day's been great. How has yours been?" she asked while she rang up his items, informing him of the price once she was done.

"I had a pretty good day too." He proceeded to tell her about his difficulty with the game he'd been playing earlier and pulled out his wallet to pay for his ramen and soda. When he got back his change, he looked back up at the cashier and thanked her, "Gomawo!" he took his meal to the hot water machine and grabbed a pack of chopsticks. Byung-Soo drummed his fingers against the counter and puffed out his cheeks in impatience as he waited for the noddles to finish cooking. When it was done, he found a seat by the window and hungrily scarfed down his ramen. The spicy broth and soft noodles filled his mouth and he closed his eyes peacefully.

beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! Byung-Soo moaned and pulled the covers over his head to drown out the sound of his alarm. A day had passed since he was at the convenience store. With his right foot he poked at his phone, slowly pushing it off the bed. A loud clack notified him that the device had landed on the floor. The alarm stopped going off. He smiled absent-mindedly with his eyes still closed, snuggling into his pillow. Unfortunately, the peace only lasted for another five minutes. As he fell slowly back into his dreams, another shrill beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! resounded within the room as his phone buzzed about on the floor.

Byung-Soo made a whining sound, like a child begging not to go, before he peeled himself off of the covers and crawled to the edge of the bed, hanging over it to reach for his phone. He checked the time: 8:00pm . For a moment, he pondered going back to sleep, but the thought of Kim In-ha lecturing him endlessly, finally gave him the strength to get out of bed. His black hair was messy from the nap, and his eyes were narrowed into slits as he struggled to keep them open. Not far from his bed, to his right, there stood a glass door. He slowly made his way over to it, pulling it open and feeling around for the switch on the wall.

The ceiling lights flickered on to reveal a luxurious walk-in closet. All manner of accessories; watches, belts, rings; lay neatly within a glass case located in the center of the room. The clothes and shoes were organized first by formality, and then by color. Windows spanned across much of the space, revealing the twinkling city lights below. The last of the sun's rays were an aged yellow and bloody red, as purple clouds swept over the sky. Byung-Soo trudged across the spotless, granite flooring, and sleepily combed through his dress shirts, which hung within a mahogany shelving.

Within thirty minutes, he was ready to go. His hair was fixed into neat tousles, a kind of imperfect-perfect that was boyish yet handsome. He had opted for a loose-fitting, navy-blue, pin-striped dress shirt. The sleeves were rolled up and he left a few of the buttons undone. His dress pants were black and ended just above his ankles, and he wore simple, black penny loafers. Byung-Soo sat at the edge of his bed, checking the time on his phone once more: 8:30pm.

An hour passed and the young heir was pulling up to the new night club, Vanity, in a black Rolls Royce Wraith. As he stepped out of the vehicle he pulled out the newest model of phones developed by the Moon's, a gift from the family. 9:15pm. He texted his friends, the three other members of his little group, F4. 'Here' was all he said, as he looked up from his phone, shot a charming smile at the valet and tossed the boy his keys. Night had finally fallen. The sound of music could be heard from outside, desperately pounding against the walls of the club.

Bouncers in suits menacingly guarded the doors, but straightened up at the sight of Byung-Soo, and greeted him with respect. "Good evening sir," they said, as he opened the glass pull-push door. He shot another friendly smile,

"Hello!" Once inside, he saw a group of boys standing by the elevator. He started towards his friends and greeted them.

"Dong-min! Are you ready!" The young heir hailed from a wealthy family that controlled a number of oil refining complexes. On the side, Dong-Min's family also owned a brand of soju, which was extremely popular in Korea. Tonight, his friend had been tasked with the presentation of a new flavor of the alcohol, and Byung-Soo and the boys were there to support Dong-Min

Location: At Work [The Club]

As he launched into his difficulty with his game, Ji Woo chuckled a little as she was reminded once again of her brothers. "Have a good night!" she called out to him after he was done. The rest of her night was uneventful, as she mopped floors and cleaned out any of the food that had expired today. Collecting the expired food was Ji Woo's favorite part of the night. It was food that could no longer be sold and would normally go to waste. However, the food was still fresh enough that Ji Woo would take it for herself. When her shift was over, Ji Woo has made sure to remember to grab a couple of cans of the melon cream soda before heading back for the night.
_________________
A string of laughter reached Ji Woo's ears as she finished getting ready for work. Grabbing her keys from her desk, Ji Woo left her room, the door closing behind her with a soft click. Entering the living room, she was greeted by the sight of her younger twin brothers sitting in front of the television watching some animated show, the cans of soda she had grabbed them sitting partly drunk. In the kitchen, her mother finished cleaning the after-dinner mess. Ji Woo called out a good-bye to her family, ruffling both of the twins' hair as she passed by them. They both looked back as she passed calling out, "Bring us something back from the rich people party!" As she slipped on her shoes, she smiled and answered, "I'll see what I can find." A final call from her mother telling her to be safe drifted out the door before Ji Woo closed it.

The club was quieter than normal, but still filled with the bustling of people as they set up for the launch party. With a quick snap of her wrist, Ji Woo unfolded and neatly settled a table cloth across the surface of a cocktail table, smoothing out any lines that formed in the fabric. The manager of the club had already informed all the catering staff the of the importance of the party tonight and the need for absolute perfection. Ji Woo had almost rolled her eyes at the briefing. Anything for the rich people, she'd thought. After straightening the table cloth, Ji Woo felt the need to once again straighten her uniform. The crisp, white shirt with the club's name, Vanity, embroidered on the breast in emerald green was just a tad too small. Last minute, her friend called, asking Ji Woo to fill in for her so there was no time to find a uniform that fit and she simply used her friend's. Luckily enough, they wore similar enough pant sizes that it wasn't uncomfortable like the shirt.

"Ji Woo! Here!" Another waiter calls out to her, tossing her a black half-apron. "Thanks," Ji Woo says, tying the apron around her waist. "What else is there to set up?" The other waiter gestures over to group of waitresses, struggling with a strand of lights that were to be used as a decoration for one of the tables. Ji Woo moved quickly, assisting the girls with the de-tanglement fiasco. With the three of them, the work was quickly finished. A loud static sound startled the three girls, and they looked over to see the DJ in the booth making the final adjustments with the sound system. Seconds later, music started booming from the speakers set around the club. A quick survey of the club showed more than just staff mingling around now. Ji Woo shooed the two other waitresses off to finish last touches with the catering behind the scenes.

As Ji Woo was about to follow, she noticed a series of centerpieces that needed to adorn all the tables that were unplaced. Stifling a curse, Ji Woo grabbed the lavish ornaments, adding the finishing touch to the tables before all of the guests arrived. With the room complete, Ji Woo checked the pockets of her apron, making sure all the things she'd need to take drink orders were in place. With everything in order, she was ready.

Kim Dong Min

Location: Club Launch Party

A rustle of cloth filled the spacious bedroom as Dong Min pulled a white jacket over his dress shirt. For the launch party, he'd opted for an all white suit, something that was formal enough for the launch party but could still suit the after party in the club. He padded over to the full length mirror, running a hand through his wavy hair to give it the perfect tousled look. He check himself out once more, giving himself a nod of approval. "Nice," he muttered. He smoothed out the sleeves of his jacket and headed out of his parent's mansion. In the circular driveway, a car waited for him to take him to the launch party a little early. He wanted to be there early to make sure all things were running smoothly. He'd been working closely with the people in his family's company to develop a new soju flavor for that past few months. It was the first project his father had let him fly completely solo on and he was both nervous and excited to present the new flavor. He'd only told his friends that he'd be presenting the new flavor, not that he'd been in the middle of the entire making process. Dong Min couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces when he revealed that fact in his speech tonight. The car exited the circular driveway and headed towards the club Vanity.

A ding from his phone had Dong Min glancing down. The screen and his phone displayed a text from his nuna. He grinned, opening the text to see what it said. Congrats little bro! 🎉 I'm so proud! Knock 'em dead! the text read. The text filled Dong Min with more happiness than any words of praise his parents could ever give him. Gomawoyo! You're coming right? he texted back. A response came back quickly that made the grin on his face disappear. You know I can't. Not with Mom and Dad there. Dong Min pursed his lips, then quickly typed back They won't be at the after party. He drummed his fingers on his leg, waiting for his sister's answer. Come to the shop and we can celebrate then. Dong Min's lips shifted into a pout and he sent back and long and drawn out Nuuuunnaaaa. All he received back was a kissy face. He knew that it was unlikely for his sister come since his parents had disowned her, but he couldn't help but feel disappointed any way.

Soon, the car pulled up in front of Vanity. He stepped out of the car and walked into the club. Once inside, he could see the workers busily setting up the room. The extra cocktail tales he'd requested were already set up and one worker was spreading the expensive table cloths over their tops. Off to the side, he could see the head organizers discussing things in a group. Moving into business mode, his earlier nerves disappearing, he strolled over to the group. Lengthy discussions ensued for a few hours until he was interrupted by a voice calling his name. "Ya! Kim Dong Min!" is friend Min Joon shouted at him from across the room.

Dong Min quickly said his goodbyes to the group and headed over to his friend, entrusting them with the rest of the organization. When he reached Min Joon, he felt and arm drape itself across his shoulders and he looked over to see his other friend Min Ho grinning at him. "Yo, where's Byung Soo?" The last person of their group was nowhere to be seen. Min Joon and Min Ho shrugged. Three dings filled the air between them and they all looked at their phones to see a text from Byung Soo saying he was here. The three headed towards to elevator to wait for Byung Soo, passing one of the workers carrying the table center pieces in her hands. Quickly, Byung Soo made it inside calling out, "Dong Min! Are you ready!" Dong Min grinned at his friend, pulling him in for a greeting. "You know it!"

He looked over at the others, Moon Ming-jun, the son of a wealthy tech company and Park Min-ho, the heir to a collection of hotels and luxury resorts. The boys had been best friends since they were children and were popularly known as F4, a name given to them by fangirls. Tonight, Kim Dong-min, was presenting a new flavor of soju. Being something that would usually be headed by his father or mother, it was a very stressful event. Byung-Soo looked around excitedly, pleased with the beautiful setting.

"It looks so nice in here. You really outdid yourself!" Min-ho, one of the more reserved members of the group followed Byung-Soo's gaze and smiled slightly. His family owned the night club and he required nothing but perfection, in the name of representing the family. Alongside Dong-min, Min-ho had also spent a lot of time in preparing for the event. As the guests piled in, the boys turned their attention to greeting them.

An hour later, Dong-min was standing beside a modern-looking table with a giant bottle of soju on it. A few smaller bottles were placed neatly inside a glass bowl of ice. The staff that helped in the creation of this project were lined up behind Dong-min and the table. At this point, all of the guests were surrounding the heir and his table of soju. F4 stood at the front of the group, with Byung-Soo clapping loudly and excitedly, as if it were his own child up there. Min-ho smiled gently at his friend, deeply proud and happy for him, but not nearly as obnoxious as their leader.

[div class=container] [div class=post][div class=scroll]Dong Min strode up to the special display table with the custom giant bottle of soju proudly displayed on its surface. The group of people he'd been talking with earlier, alongside a few others, stood slightly behind him and someone handed him a mic. All the guests gathered around, his fellow members of F4 front and center. Byung Soo's obvious display of pride could easily be heard, and any last nerves Dong Min had been feeling completely disappeared at his friends big demonstration."Thank you all for coming," he began, then launched into his full speech. He discussed part of the making process, his full involvement, and how proud he was to be able to showcase the product to everyone that night. After Dong Min, a couple other people made some toasts, all them also stating their pride in the project. Once all speeches had commenced, the time for mingling had arrived.

Half the cocktail waitress went around offering hors d'oeuvres to the special guests while the other half went around with samples of the new soju on their trays while also taking orders for other drinks. Though the food was supplied by a separate catering company, most of the cocktail waitresses were associated with the bar. It was far easier to source the waitresses from the bar than to have the catering company try and scramble for so many people. Ji Woo was tasked with carrying around a tray of soju.

As the speeches took place, a tall, attractive man slipped into the club. His eyes were a dark brown and his carefully groomed hair was jet-black. He stood in a spot behind the crowd, where he could still see the processions. When it had all ended, he smirked and clapped his hands with the others, as if he was just playing along. As the crowd fell into chatter, a waitress approached him. With glimmering eyes, she offered him a glass of soju from her tray. "Would you like a drink sir?" A playful smile slowly appeared on his lips and he reached out to take one. "Of course." He stared into her eyes a moment too long and she blushed. As she walked away to serve other customers, the mysterious man held the glass of soju in his hands, now surveying the area to analyze the scene. He padded over to an empty table in it's own dark corner where he could still watch from afar, and sat down.

When Dong Min walked back into the crowd after the speeches, Byung-Soo excitedly ran up to his friend grinning from ear-to-ear. He hugged the boy and spewed off a thousand compliments and words of praise. "That was amazing Dong-Min! You really did such a great job! Your speech was so wonderful!” He hoped it would be enough to please Dong Min’s parents, who were notoriously strict.

After having walked a few steps into the crowd, Dong Min saw Byung Soo rush at him. Byung Soo’s hug was warm and Dong Min grinned, hugging him back tightly glad to experience such outspoken praise. Knowing his parents, they’ll probably say his speech was satisfactory. Min-Ho stood behind his friends, the excitement making him smile softly. He nodded, “Byung-Soo’s right. You did a great job.” Min Joon came up behind Byung Soo, clapping Dong Min on the back. “Good job bro! People are going to go crazy over the soju,” he said, giving Dong Min one of his rare, warm smiles. Dong Min truly appreciated his friends and expressed such sentiments to them. Unfortunately, he couldn’t stay to chat with them too long because there were other people he needed to talk with, so he excused himself, that serious, business look coming back into his eyes.

Byung-Soo watched his friend walk into the crowd and sighed in content. For a moment he took in the scenery before him, pleased with its luxurious grandeur. His gaze swept over the guests, when a familiar sight caught his attention. He remained fixed on the young waitress that stood just a few meters away, and another great smile appeared on his lips. He turned to the boys and whispered excitedly, “I know that girl!” Followed by, “Oh my gosh, I’ll be right back.”

He made his way through the mass of guests, trying to get her attention. “Hey! Convenience-store girl!” He waved his hands up and repeated himself. “Hey! I know you!” Byung-Soo eventually reached the cashier who’d sold him all those packages of ramen. “Convenience-store girl! Hi! Do you remember me? I-I… I buy the ramen! Ya know the spicy one? I had no idea you worked here!” He grinned awkwardly, scratching the back of his head, and feeling a bit bashful at his suddenness.

Ji Woo had been in the midst of handing a guest one of the glasses of soju when a sudden commotion in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She turned, eyes widening in surprise to see another guest jumping up and down, waving his arms about. What the-? As quick as the thought formed, she recognized who was trying to get her attention. Her free hand rose, pointing at him as the recognition appeared. “Ramen boy!” she exclaimed, getting caught up in his energy. She chuckled as the embarrassment flooded through him. “Yeah, I work here. What a small world!”

Her positive and welcoming response helped to make him not feel so awkward about approaching her. Byung-Soo gave a shy smile, “Sorry, I hope I’m not being weird by approaching you.” He thought for a moment and clapped his hands together, “Oh! Did you hear my friend’s speech? Wasn’t it amazing? I’m so proud of my Dong Minnie!” He held his face, with his eyes closed and a soft, dreamy smile displayed upon his lips. He opened his eyes again and put his hands back down to his sides. “My name is Jin Byung-Soo by the way. What’s your name?”

“No! It’s not weird at all,” she said, waving her free hand. She watched him clap his hands together and gush about his friend. She grinned at his excitement, but the implications of his words hit her. She took in his clothes, a far cry from what he normally wore into the convenience store. Oh, she thought. He’s rich. Her grin disappeared at the thought, but at this point Ramen Boy had already closed his eyes. The image of what rich people acted like was wildly different than the energy he gave off. Maybe not all rich people suck. When he opened his eyes again, she placed her earlier grin back on her face. “My name is Lee Ji Woo,” she responded. Once more, something caught Ji Woo’s attention from the corner of her eye. Her boss was glaring at her and when their eyes met he jerked his head, telling her to stop the idle chit-chat. “It was really nice to officially meet you Byung Soo, but I really need to get back to work,” she said, smiling apologetically at him. Before he could really respond, she departed, offering the soju she was carrying to other guests.

Byung-Soo was disappointed that their conversation had to be cut short, but he tried his best to understand that she was here being paid to work and not talk. He nodded as Ji-Woo politely said her goodbyes and headed deeper into the crowd. The young heir sighed and was about to go back to his friends, when an uncomfortably familiar sight appeared before him. From across the room, he spotted Kyung-Tae, his cousin. Byung-Soo suddenly became uneasy, and his care-free attitude seemed to vanish in an instant. He looked back towards his friends, who were all looking at him, previously being entertained by his dorky introduction to the cute waitress. He motioned over to the table where his cousin was sitting and started over there.

Min Joon and and Min Ho shared a look before Min Ho followed after Byung Soo. He rolled his shoulders, a dark look settling onto his face. Min Joon glanced around, catching sight of Dong Min. Grabbing ahold of Dong Min’s shoulder, Min Joon whispered to him, “Kyung Tae is here.” Dong Min whipped his head around, his gaze settled on Byung Soo’s cousin before he muttered, “Crap.” They both rushed after the other two members of F4, arriving at Kyung Tae’s table shortly after Byung Soo and Min Ho.

“What are you doing here, Kyung-Tae?” Byung-Soo’s voice was no longer bright and bubbly, but now serious and cold. He was genuinely curious what had brought his cousin to the launch party, as well as incredibly uneasy. As children, the boys had been raised together within Byung-Soo’s aunt’s private estate, right outside of Seoul. Although they lived in the same house, they rarely spoke, and any interaction was generally punished by his aunt, who held a very negative opinion of Byung-Soo and his parents. As such, the boys never developed much of a relationship, and instead, grew to resent each other.

Kyung-Tae smirked as the boys slowly approached him, like a pack of wolves circling their prey. He didn’t even flinch as they got closer, instead maintaining a completely enigmatic composure. He found himself fighting to hold in his laughter at the seriousness on their faces. Kyung-Tae played with the drink, tilting it with his fingers. “Hello, sachon… Am I not allowed to visit a night club on a Friday?” He said before bringing the soju to his lips and taking a sip.

Byung-Soo glared at his cousin, unamused. “At this club on this particular night? You obviously came here in hopes of stirring up trouble… You should leave.” Kyung-Tae ignored Byung-Soo, instead turning his attention to Dong Min.

“I watched your speech, Dong-Minnie.” He grinned and gave the boy a playful thumbs up, and then he slowly turned to Min-Ho. “And you. Your family’s hospitality really lives up to their reputation.” With one hand still on his drink, he held his other hand up. “I give it five stars.” When he said ‘five stars,” he spoke in English.

“Kyung-Tae,” Byung-Soo was visibly losing his patience, “I told you to leave.” But Kyung-Tae seemed deaf to his cousin’s words. Instead, he just smiled, unaffected at the boys’ lack of response. Min-ho didn’t speak, instead allowing Byung-Soo to try and persuade his cousin to leave the club.

“Oh Min-ho! I almost forgot to tell you. I met this guy the other day. What was his name again? Ha… Ha-Soo… No… Ha-Joon? Yes! That’s it. Seong Ha-Joon.” Min-ho froze. In an instant, he felt himself becoming nauseous. A wave of anxiety flooded over him, seeping into every crevice of his body. The change in his usual demeanor was visible to everyone around him, especially to Kyung-Tae, who smiled wickedly. “You two know each other pretty well don’t you? I have his number if you want to talk to him? I know he’s been dying to get back in touch-”

“That’s enough Kyung-Tae! Min-Ho, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” Byung-Soo turned to his friend who looked as if he’d just seen a ghost. Kyung-Tae took out a piece of paper from his pocket and slid it across the table as he got up to leave. It was a phone number, likely to whoever this Seong Ha-Joon person was.

As the members of F4 were engaging with Byung Soo’s cousin, one of her coworkers approached Ji Woo, a very worried expression creasing her face. “Ji Woo, I think a fight’s breaking out,” she whispered. Ji Woo followed her gaze over to the table in question, seeing only Kyung Tae’s face from her position. She looked around for her boss, seeing him nowhere to be found. Figures...Other workers were starting to notice the commotion as well, almost as if they had a sixth sense to it. None of them looked like they were inclined to intervene. Ji Woo sighed. “I’ll take care of it.” Her tray of soju had recently been replenished and weighed down her arm as she headed towards the problem table.

Kyung-Tae stuffed his hands into the pockets of his dress pants. After getting up from the table, he walked up to Min-Ho, leaning close into his face. And then he whispered so softly that no one but the two of them could hear. “They’re like weeds, those loose ends. You should be more careful next time-”

“You bastard!” Fury took over Min-Ho’s body as he lunged forward at Kyung-Tae. His raised fist connected with Kyung-Tae’s jaw and the two fell onto the ground, thoughtless to their surroundings. Ji Woo reached Min Ho and Kyung Tae right as their bodies connected. As the two fell, they connected with Ji Woo causing her legs to collapse from the force. She hit the ground hard, not even having the time to try and catch herself. Her tray full of soju crashed down next to her and all of the glass shattered on impact, coating Ji Woo in a layer of strong-smelling alcohol. She placed her hands under her, attempting to get up but immediately collapsed again in pain as the glass around her cut into her exposed skin.

Byung-Soo cried out in surprise. He leapt down to help the waitress that had fallen and recognized her immediately as the convenience-store girl he’d spoken to earlier, Ji-Woo.

He looked around him, realizing that they’d gained the attention of the rest of the guests. He turned his attention back onto the girl. “Ji-Woo, are you okay? I’m so sorry about this.” As Byung-Soo helped the girl up, he noticed the cuts on her arms. Some of the blood transferred onto his own hands as she used him for support. The sight of all the crimson shocked him at first. And his countenance suddenly darkened. His styled hair fell in his face and his jaw tightened. “Min-Joon, Dong-Min. Stop them!” Byung-Soo rarely ever gave direct orders, but at this point he was so angry, he could barely think straight. He was angry that Kyung-Tae had managed to bait Min-Ho into ruining Dong-Min’s special night, and most of all he was angry that Ji-Woo had gotten dragged into the whole affair.

At Byung Soo’s snap, Min Joon and Dong Min rushed into action, not used to such tones from their normally gentle friend. It was a struggle, but eventually the two were able to pull Min Ho off Kyung Tae. The two brawlers had ended up getting splashed by some of the alcohol from Ji Woo’s fall, though were largely unscathed in comparison to the waitress.

“Ya! Ji Woo! What’re you doing?!” a voice shouted, gripping her arm tight and pulling her away from Byung Soo. Surprised, Ji Woo almost slipped once more in the puddle of soju and found herself staring up into the face of her boss. His face was a deep shade of red, almost turning purple from rage. He pointed down at the mess on the floor, letting out a string of curses at her and her clumsiness. “In front of such important guests,” he started, throwing a hand out to point at Dong Min, when he noticed the blood on Byung Soo. Immediately, he started apologizing. “I am so sorry, sir. I don’t know what has gotten into her, she’s usually not like this.” He turned to Ji Woo. “This is an absolute disgrace, Ji Woo. You’ve ruined a very important evening. You’re fired!” Ji Woo had been quietly sitting through her boss’s tirade, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. Once she heard those dreaded words, the tears immediately started to fall. She felt like such a failure. Her boss gripped her arm tightly once more to drag her away from the scene, all the while apologizing to any of the guests as he passed. Before practically tossing Ji Woo into an employees only zone, he snapped at another worker to clean up the mess.

A large cut was swelling up on Kyung-Tae’s cheek, and blood dripped from the corner of Min-Ho’s mouth. The two panted heavily. When the boys felt it was safe to let them go, Kyung-Tae stood up and grinned, “Wooh! Min-Ho you’re really good at fighting. Ha-Joon didn’t tell me that.”

Min-Ho was immediately triggered by Kyung-Tae’s snake-like comment and threw himself forward once more. Fortunately, the boys caught the two in time before another fight could break out. As Min-Ho struggled against Dong-Min’s grip, Kyung-Tae let out out a string of laughter. Byung-Soo interjected, “No! Stop it right now!” While he had been dealing with Ji-Woo and her boss’ tirade, he was quickly pulled back into the argument. Although he’d wanted to help the waitress, he knew he had to dispel the fight once and for all. “Are you two crazy? Look around you! You’ve ruined Dong-Min’s night and didn’t even notice that you hurt someone in your thoughtlessness. The two of you look like children!”

Min-Ho was taken aback by Byung-Soo’s sudden change in attitude. His usually sweet demeanor had been exchanged for a dark, enigmatic glare, and it frightened him a bit. Min-Ho closed his eyes, the tensity in his muscles dissipated and he stopped clenching his fists. “I”m sorry, Dong-Min… I’m so sorry for ruining your night, I- … I wasn’t thinking.” He looked over at his friend apologetically, suddenly filled with shame for his actions as he realized what he had done.

Kyung-Tae tugged himself away from Min-Jun and watched Byung-Soo with a bemused expression. He sighed and touched the cut on his cheek with his thumb gently. “I guess I”ll be going then. It was good seeing you, sachon. And you too, Min-Ho. I’ll tell Hi-Joon I talked to you.”

“Don’t ever come here again, Kyung-Tae.” Byung-Soo warned him as he shrugged and exited the scene.[/div][/div][/div] [class=container]height: 340px; max-width: 500px; padding: 50px; margin: auto; background: #B45563 [/class] [class=post]height: 100%; width: 100%; font-size: 12px; color: #000000; overflow: hidden [/class] [class=scroll]height: 100%; width: 100%; overflow-y: scroll; text-align: justify; padding-right: 30px [/class]

In the employee changing room, Ji Woo pulled off her sopping wet clothes. The cloth stuck to her skin causing her to peel it off like a second skin. Tears were still streaming down her face and she sniffed in order to keep snot from running out of her nose. The whole situation was humiliating, but that wasn't the feeling that weighed on Ji Woo. Ultimately, getting fired from her job was an act of failure and to Ji Woo, the only thing worse than failing was losing her family. It didn't matter to her if it was school or work, failure was not an option. Her family depended on her. It was through her that they received any income and she'd failed. Ji Woo looked up towards the ceiling, closing her eyes as she tried to stifle the flow of tears that left light tracks in the little makeup she wore. She swiped away her tears, hands stinging from the combination of the salt in her tears and the alcohol sinking its way into her cuts.

Ji Woo took a deep breadth and finished changing into her dry clothes. There wasn't much to be done about her hair, so she just pulled it up into a bun to try to keep it from getting her current clothes wet. She grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder as she made a quick exit out the back door of the club. The walk to the bus stop felt like the longest of her life, but soon she was staring out the bus window, trying to ignore the whispers of the other riders. She probably looked a mess with her smeared makeup and red eyes while reeking of booze. The scene kept replaying itself in her head, despite her desperation to stop reliving the moment. Even though Byung Soo had helped her up while apologizing for his friends behavior, Ji Woo couldn't help the thought that all rich people really did suck run through her head. After the night, the notion had solidified deep in her mind.

The bus ride was long and gave Ji Woo plenty of time to cement her hatred for rich people. The time on the bus also allowed her time to calm down and collect herself. By the time she was at her front door, her eyes had already started to clear up. She entered her home, to find the light in the living room still on with her mother in front of the television. "Ji Woo, you're home early," her mom started, getting up from the couch and moving towards her daughter. When Eun Jung saw the state of her daughter, she quickly moved in and pulled Ji Woo into a tight embrace. "Honey, what's wrong? What happened?" As soon as her mom pulled her in for a hug, the tears immediately started flowing once more. She returned her mom's embrace and quickly sobbed out what happened at the club. "I'm sorry, Mom," she choked out. "I-I know I failed, but don't worry, I'll find another job okay?" Eun Jung had been listening silently to her daughter's story getting angrier and angrier at Ji Woo's boss, but immediately pulled back at her daughter's last two sentences, cupping Ji Woo's face in her hands with a fierce look. "You listen to me right now. You are not a failure. There's nothing in this word that would ever make me think of you as one. You did nothing wrong tonight, you hear me. The only ones at fault are those boys and that horrible boss. You are the most hard-working and beautiful daughter in the world. Besides, classes will be starting soon and you were planning on reducing work hours anyway to focus more on school. Think of this as a blessing in disguise." Her mom's voice had started out fierce in the beginning, but gradually soften towards the end of her little speech. Ji Woo could help but smile a little at her mom. Ji Woo pulled her mother back into a hug. "Thank you, Mom. I love you." Eun Jung kissed her daughter on the forehead, then wrinkled her nose. "I love you too, but you need to go shower because you stink." Ji Woo chuckled through the last of her tears and left her mom to go clean up.

Once clean, Ji Woo climbed into bed facing the wall. The talk with her mom made her feel a little better, but a dark cloud still lingered around Ji Woo. A couple more tears made their way out of the corner of her eyes when a light knocking sounded at her look. She rolled over to see Jae Hyung, the older of her twin brothers, peeking into her room. Seeing her still awake, Jae Hyung entered her room, climbing into Ji Woo's bed as she rolled over. Jae Hyung wrapped her in an embrace similarly to how her mother had earlier. A small laugh escaped form Ji Woo. "We haven't done this in years. I thought you were too old to cuddle you're big sister.". Jae Hyung didn't answer right away, letting a small pause fill the space instead. "You know you're the best big sister right?" he finally asked, looking up at her. Ji Woo brushed his hair out of his face, confused at the origin of his sudden declaration. Jae Hyung said nothing else, choosing to cuddle into his sister instead. "Hey," another voice said from her door. "You're leaving me out." Ji Woo looked up to see her other brother, Jae Beom, approach and climb into bed with his siblings. Jae Beom was on the other side of Ji Woo, snuggled into her other side. Ji Woo asked no questions, letting the warmth from her brothers lull her to sleep in her now extremely crowded bed. "Love you noona," Jae Beom whispered as he drifted off to the land of dreams. Ji Woo fell asleep with a smile on her face, her worries cast out from her mind.

I'll figure out her contact information tomorrow, he thought. Dong Min quickly set to work smoothing over what had happened with the guests, although it seemed the damage had unfortunately been done. The rest of the party carried on relatively peacefully after Kyung-Tae left.

Meanwhile, Min-Ho sat at the bar, slowly but surely drowning himself in alcohol. He seemed incredibly disturbed at what Kyung-Tae had said and it worried Byung-Soo to no end. He didn't feel like it was his place to say anything on the topic, at least not while Min-Ho was so drunk.

At about 2am, Byung-Soo tasked Ming-Joon and himself with getting Min-Ho out of the club and tucked into bed. Byung-Soo had decided to take Min-Ho back to his home, since it was closer and easier than explaining Min-Ho's state to his parents. Together, the boys carried him into the car and up to the Seol penthouse. Once inside, Ming-Joon took care of Min-Ho as he threw up in the bathroom. In the mean time, Bung-Soo had his maids prepare one of the guest rooms. He and Min-Joon spent much of that night talking about the events at the party.

The next day, he set to work in finding Ji-Woo and apologizing formally to her. He asked Dong-Min for the list of employees' contact information for that night, but privacy rules made that an impossible request. Eventually, Byung-Soo stuck to hanging out around the convenience store, in hopes of running into the girl. She unfortunately wasn't in on those days, and the manager of the store refused to give up any information.

"Please! I have to speak to her! I-I'll even pay you!" He pulled out his wallet, revealing multiple ₩ 100,000 bills. The manager's eyes widened at the sight of all the cash and he relented.

"She lives in (insert address)." Byung-Soo smiled, thanking the man profusely and slamming down a few of the bills onto the counter before bolting out. He hopped into his car and programmed the address into the built-in map in his vehicle.

About thirty minutes later, he was standing outside Ji-Woo's house. He suddenly felt very nervous and frowned as he sat in his car and started at her home. He recalled the events of the other night. Remembering the shattered glass, the yelling, the cuts on her hands and arms; a wave of guilt washed over him and forced him out of the Rollys Royce Wraith. Byung-Soo walked up to the house and carefully knocked on the door.

Lee Jae Hyung & Jae Beom

Location: Home

The slapping of cards hitting each other resounded through the quiet room. Jae Hyung and Jae Beom were sitting in the living playing Go with a deck of cards. Their mother was gone, out shopping for groceries the family would need for the week. A soft click from down the hallway revealed Ji Woo's presence and she softly padded towards the front door. Small bandages covered the larger cuts she'd received the night before while she left the smaller cuts open to the air. "You guys are so quiet," she said, reaching for the TV remote. She flipped it on, switching the channel to one of the twins' favorite animes. "Did you guys finish your homework over break?" The twins had gotten distracted from the TV, but turned back towards their sister at her question. "Yes noona!" they replied in unison. "Are you working at Halmeoni's tonight?" Jae Beom asked excitedly as he got up to give his sister a goodbye hug. Ji Woo ruffled his hair nodding and giving a noise of affirmation. Jae Beom grinned, asking, "Do you think she'll have any kimchi for us?" Ji Woo furrowed her brow in mock deep thought. "Maybe," she answered. Jae Beom pouted, releasing his sister. Ji Woo gave him one last hair ruffle before giving Jae Hyung a quick hug goodbye. "Be good until Mom gets home!" she called out before she left.

A while after Ji Woo left, ead, the twins stayed at home, but were completely bored. Jae Hyung hadn't really wanted to leave the house today anyways, not after seeing the state his sister came in the night before. He wanted to be there when she left for work the next morning so that he could make sure she wasn't acting abnormal. He'd purposefully said little last night, knowing that Ji Woo wouldn't want them to worry too much about her. Jae Beom had caught onto his twin's intentions quickly, offering up his own silent comfort as well. When they'd woken up in the morning, Ji Woo had already been up and was making a breakfast for everyone.

Jae Beom had been poking Jae Hyung in an attempt to annoy his brother into a small fight to offer some relief to his boredom when knocking sounded from their front door. The twins looked at each other. "Did noona forget her keys again?" Jae Beom asked. Jae Hyung scoffed, [color#014F0A]"It's not even close to when noona comes home, babo. Mom isn't even home yet."[/color] Jae Beom stuck his tongue out at his brother while Jae Hyung made a face back as he got up. The fight scene from the anime could be heard as Jae Hyung opened the door. He was surprised to see a well-dressed guy around his sister's age standing in front of the door. Jae Hyung looked him up and down, taking in the expensive clothes he wore. His eyes flickered behind the man, seeing the equally expensive car parked in front of their house. Some of their neighbors were whispering and pointing as they walked by. The car was probably the most expensive thing a lot of them had ever seen. Jae Hyung focused back on the man, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you lost?" he asked casually, slight hostility leaking from his body language. Much like his sister, Jae Hyung wasn't much of a fan of rich people at the moment.

Byung-Soo smiled sheepishly. He was the kind of guy who you'd hear about getting ganged up on by a bunch of twelve-year-olds because he was too nice to say no. He was dressed in a crisp white, button-up dress shirt and khakis. Despite the awkwardness of appearing out of no where and the discomfort of being greeted so casually, Byung-Soo confidently spoke. "Um- hello! I was wondering if this is where Lee Ji-Woo lives? My name is Jin- Byung-Soo, and she was working at my friend's club last night."

He was visibly guilty at the memory of the events that took place, as his brows were narrowed in a look of sincerity. This demeanor of almost childish, charming, innocence, is what made most of his fangirls swoon, although he was entirely unaware of it.

"She got into a lot of trouble with her boss because of me and my friends, and I feel so guilty about it. I was hoping that I could speak to her so I could apologize and make things right." Byung-Soo hoped this would be enough smooth things over. He wanted to tell Ji-Woo that he'd spoken to the manager and got her job back, and that he'd do anything to make it up. Although he was ignorant to the hardships most poor people faced, his nanny, Kim In-Ha, had instilled some humbleness into him.

Lee Jae Hyung & Jae Beom

Location: Home

As Jae Hyung greeted Byung Soo rudely, Jae Beom walked up behind his brother, popping his head up to peer over his brother's shoulder. His wide eyes were curious as he also took in the simple, yet expensively dressed Byung Soo. When Byung Soo asked about Ji Woo, the boys bristled in suspicion which only deepened when he mentioned his friend's club. Jae Hyung's eyes narrowed, his anger becoming palpable at the mention of the club. Byung Soo's name fell on deaf ears with Jae Hyung but Jae Beom took note of the name. He leaned closer to his brother and whispered, though it wasn't very quiet, "Isn't Byung Soo the name of-" Jae Hyung quickly place his arm around his brother's neck, covering Jae Beom's mouth with his hand to cut him off. Jae Beom's interruption cleared Jae Hyung's mind, and he relaxed his stance a little more but still tried to look intimidating. Try as he might, Jae Hyung failed at the intimidating look because any hostility was removed from his face. Byung Soo had tried to help Ji Woo at the party, so he was willing to give the guy a chance.

As Byung Soo continued talking, Jae Beom reached over and removed his brother's hand from his mouth. In regards to trusting Byung Soo, Jae Beom was far more open to the idea than Jae Hyung was. He could see Byung Soo's obvious guilt and that he was trying to make amends for what happened. He didn't understand why was Byung Soo here though. In his opinion, the two that were fighting should be the ones to apologize. As soon as Byung Soo finished, Jae Beom immediately responded saying, "Ji Woo-noona isn't home right now! She's working at Halmeoni's restaurant tonight. Do you want to come in and wa-" Once more, Jae Beom was interrupted by Jae Hyung's hand covering his mouth.

"Noona gets home really late tonight," Jae Hyung said to Byung Soo, reverting back to more formal speech and polite tones. He sounded almost apologetic that Byung Soo wouldn't be able to see Ji Woo today. Jae Hyung was feeling a bit mischievous though, wanting to tease Byung Soo because he looked like an easy target. "She works a lot so she's not home very much. You'd have better luck finding her at one of her jobs." He deliberately left out what her jobs were and when she worked at them. Jae Beom catching onto his brother's intentions, smiled at Byung Soo before turning towards his brother. "I don't think he knows her work schedule, Jae Hyung. If only there was a way to know exactly where she'd be...". He trailed off, glancing at Byung Soo out of the corner of his eye.

[div class=container][div class=image][/div] [div class=blk][div class=title]Jin Byung-Soo [div class=line][/div] [div class=lil]the azure dragon[/div][/div] [div class=b][div class=lilimage][/div][/div] [div class=info] [div class=post][div class=scroll] It was a moment before Byung-Soo put two-and-two together. The cheeky smile faded from his lips into a frown as he realized what the boys were implying. He was no stranger to bribes and the like. "Erm..." He scratched his head, a nervous smile reappearing. "Please. I really need to speak to your sister. If there's anything I can anything I can do... If there's anything I can offer..." Byung-Soo reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He pulled out a few bills and handed it over to the boys whose eyes glittered. They'd probably never scene so much money in their entire lives.

After he got the information he needed, he hurried back to his car. He whipped out his phone and texted his friends the address where Ji-Woo was currently working. Meet in 30 minutes? Without waiting for a response, he took off down the road, leaving behind the small village-like community.

When he pulled up to the restaurant, Byung-Soo saw some of the boys already waiting, leaning against their fancy cars and chatting, wondering why they were called there. He grinned and parked his car, jumping out to meet up with them. Dong Min moaned about why they had to come so quickly, clearly still exhausted from the night before. Min Ho held his head and barked at Dong Min for speaking too loudly. Byung-Soo excitedly jumped about, "Come now boys!! This is no time to be moody! It's kind of a long story, but I was able to track down that waitress girl from last night, who was fired, and I think we really need to apologize to her. Soooo if you would be so kind..." He opened the door to the restaurant and let himself in, holding it open for the others. He had on a playful smile.

Inside, the restaurant was visibly average in looks. It was a bit run-down and definitely not at all somewhere you'd normally see the legendary F4. They had to drag a couple extra chairs over to make room for everyone at their table. In their designer clothing, they sat graciously as models, but it was a strange sight. The contrast between the atmosphere and them was out of this world. They clearly didn't belong there. Still, they played the part. Byung-Soo, unable to contain himself, looked around excitedly to see if he could spot the waitress from last night. When he saw her, he had to hold back the overwhelming urge to wave his hand about and obnoxiously call her over. No, he couldn't do that. That would be tacky. And weird. Instead, he would play it cool. Byung-Soo held the menu and concealed his face with it, peeking out occasionally at Ji-Woo. He composed himself as he saw her approach their table.

Lee Ji Woo

Location: Convenience Store, Restaurant

After leaving home, Ji Woo headed to her first part-time job of the day. Today, she had been moved to a different convenience store due to short staffing problems. Even though it was a different store, it wasn't too far from her usual work place. During the early-afternoon, her shift was over and she walked the few blocks to her normal location. The bell jingled above the door as she entered, and she was greeted by the site of her favorite coworker who was also the manger. "Are paychecks ready?" Ji Woo asked. A few short seconds later, Ji Woo was heading back towards the entrance her footsteps a little lighter as she was already planning on divvying up the money she'd received. "Ji Woo-ah," the manager called out before she left. "Do you know some really rich dude?" Ji Woo only gave her coworker a confused look and a quick shake of her head. "Well, one came in looking for you. He looked pretty desperate, so I told him your address," the manager continued. Ji Woo's jaw dropped a little, complete disbelief coloring her face. "You did what?! You can't just tell a random person where I live," she scolded, her face turning a little red in anger. Ji Woo's coworker remained unfazed while Ji Woo got angrier. "But he was hot," he responded. "And he gave me money." The nonchalant answer left Ji Woo completely speechless, no words coming to her mind. Normally, he was a really great manager, but there were some moments where Ji Woo seriously wondered what was wrong with him. She sighed, knowing full well who the rich person could be. Byung Soo was the only rich person she really knew and none of his other friends really seemed the type to try to look for her. With a half-hearted wave to her manager, Ji Woo left to go to her next job while she thought about how she was going to deal with this new information

Ji Woo arrived at Halmeoni's restaurant still a little frazzled from her earlier conversation. The owner noticed Ji Woo's mood and followed her into the changing area fro female employees. The owner grabbed some large containers she'd set aside and handed them over to Ji Woo before she changed into her uniform. "Halmeoni..." Ji Woo started, her face softening as she received the containers of kimchi. The owner waved off the next words Ji Woo was going to say, making a quick exit. Ji Woo's mood was instantly brightened by the old lady's gift, a large smile filling her face as she placed the containers of kimchi carefully into her locker.

Work quickly consumed Ji Woo as she helped clean up the after lunch rush mess. All the other employees were the owner's children and grandchildren, really making the place seem like one big family. Though the place didn't look the best, the atmosphere of the restaurant made anyone who came in feel right at home. Light banter was tossed between the different employees and inside jokes were shared on the daily, filling the space with laughter. It was definitely Ji Woo's favorite job because all the employees felt like a second family to her.

They were all preparing for the dinner rush, working like a well oiled machine as they did. One of the owner's grandsons, a little younger than Ji Woo, swung a full tray of food high up as he turned and Ji Woo ducked below the tray in one smooth motion. The action was effortless, like they'd done it thousands of times before. One of the regulars called out to Ji Woo about how he's never seen them collide once in all the times he's been there. Ji Woo laughed as she moved over to the computer to close out another customer. She heard the bell over the door ring and she called out a welcoming to the people who entered, though she never really looked at who it was. She heard some chairs moving around as she handed the customer their receipt and thanked them for coming. One of the owner's daughters sidled up to Ji Woo, a baby in her arms. "Ji Woo, take the table that just came in. It's a bunch of good-looking boys," she whispered, giving Ji Woo a suggestive look. Ji Woo nudged the owner's daughter, shaking her head in good humor. She cooed at the baby before turning around and heading towards the new table.

As Ji Woo approached the table, she noted how handsome the four boys were even if one of them was hiding behind his menu. She saw him peek out from the menu, and realization hit her. Her steps slowed and the smile that had been on her face dropped. Shit, she thought. Dread filled her, creating a pit in her stomach. Byung Soo might have thought he was being sly hiding behind his menu, but there was no way Ji Woo wouldn't recognize him after how many times she'd seen him at the convenience store. Her eyes moved to his three friends, finally recognizing them from the night before. The one who'd been part of the fight looked annoyed, at Byung Soo or her she didn't know. The one who'd given a speech looked at her with open eyes and a soft look like he wanted to apologize. The last one looked cool and indifferent like he was wondering why he was here in the first place.

In her hesitation, Ji Woo took a breath, putting a polite smile on her face. It was noticeably different from her genuine smile from before, and despite her efforts to hide her emotions, she still looked uncomfortable as she stopped in front of the table. "Welcome, is there anything I can get started for you?" she asked, her voice a higher pitch than usual.

He readied himself as she approached. When she greeted the boys, he composed himself and set the menu down, beaming up at her. "Hello Ji-Woo. Do you remember me? It's Byung-Soo. I-We-," He gestured to the other boys, "wanted to find you and apologize in person for what happened last night. We can even get your job back if that's what it takes."

It was strange, but Byung-Soo felt totally at home in this small, local restaurant. It was quaint and comforting and totally different from the modern, luxurious estates he'd spent his entire life in.

Lee Ji Woo

Location: Restaurant

A cursory glance at each of the boys, gave Ji Woo the chance to gauge their reactions to Byung Soo's mention of apology. The boy who gave the speech radiated similar energy to Byung Soo, so she didn't doubt that he was genuine about wanting to apologize. However, the other boys didn't emanate the same feeling. No doubt, Byung Soo and speech boy had convinced the other two to be here in the first place. She focused back on Byung Soo as he mentioned getting her job back. Immediately, she thought about earlier and how Byung Soo had thrown money around in order to discover where her home was. The reminder reignited the anger she had felt earlier towards her manager, but now it was directed towards Byung Soo. No doubt he'd thrown more money or used his reputation in order to get her job back. Her irritation grew, though she tried to quell it in her voice for her response.

Ji Woo placed her pad and pen into the pocket of her apron and let her hands rest at her side. "I appreciate you coming all this way to apologize," she started. Though she tried to hide her growing irritation, her voice was still a little tense and her next words had a little bit more bite to them. "However, it is unnecessary for you to get my old job back." She was going to continue with how preposterous and creepy it was that he bribed her manager to find her address, but held herself back. She also held back the burning question of how he discovered her workplace because there was no chance that he'd just happened across it, not with how he was acting.

Realizing how worked up she was getting, Ji Woo decided she needed to remove herself from the situation before a she created a scene. "Excuse me, but I'll have somebody else help you," she muttered, her hands starting to clench into fists from her stress and anger. She quickly turned away to head back to the front counter. As she started to walk away, she noticed both Halmeoni and her grandson watching her and the boys, slight concern on their faces.
