WW2: 2 Pilots (With Shadow)

(I'd be willing to be play any position on the plane so just me know what you want to be so I don't take it)

Felix jumped a little as the commanding officer came in to wake up the bunker full of pilots. He announced that they had a last-minute mission to run and told them to go to the briefing tent for instructions. Felix climbed out of his cot and dressed in his heavy flying clothes, putting on his leather jacket last. He glanced over at the rest of his crew members in various stages of dressing. He followed a couple other pilots outside as they made their way to the briefing tent. A polite little nurse was outside handing out warm tea or coffee. He thanked her with a small smile as he took a tea and headed inside. Unfortunately the inside of the tent wasn't much warmer than outside in the cool morning breeze. He took a seat in their crew's assigned row and sipped at his tea. He looked curiously at the covered board in the front of the room. He wondered if it would be a long run or not, but it probably wouldn't be too much longer before he found out.

(If there is anything you wanted to do differently, just let me know and I can change it.)

(I don't really care what postition you take, just want the roleplay to roll around.)

Arman was astounded by the surprising mission just announced. He just couldn't sleep in last night with a fly bugging him. So Arman was at least already, ready for this mission. He went outside, with his uniform already on. A few pilots have already arrived at the breifing tent. Arman wasn't really "pumped" for this mission, so he thought he could walk around for a bit. While the chilling air, was cold, Arman had a warm jacket on. The mission breifing, was about to start. He started walking to the breifing tent, while reviewing his Pilot training sessions one last time. As he went in, the briefing was just about to start. An officer called and said, "Arman, slackers won't win the war, be earlier next time." Arman thought he was lucky to have no punishment. A few other pilots had tea. He had no idea where they got it from, and he was a bit envious. But kept his eyes on the screen. Arman didn't necessarily fond of the war, but he only joined the war, to support his poor family, learning the hard way, War is hell. Just when he finished this thought, the Instructor came in. Hopefully I can pay enough attention....

(Nah, this will do.)

Felix watched the rest of the crews come in and sit down as did the officer that was going to brief them. A few minutes later, the officer began the usual talk about how great and noble war they were fighting was and how important it was that they completed their missions with the utmost orderliness etc. Felix zoned out until the officer unveiled their route. It turned out it was going to be a long mission with most of it being over enemy lines. There were various groans of dismay, but the officer tried to cheer them up with another speech about how important this all was. Felix zoned out again until everyone began moving. The other crews went to their planes to begin their pre-flight check. Felix waited until the rush for the door had cleared before getting up and going to their plane. He began checking all the controls and the fuel and oil levels. He knew the rest of the team would be here soon so they could do the full examination. He frowned slightly as he recalled their route. It was a given that all their missions would be dangerous, but a several-hour flight over enemy land seemed like an especially bad idea. It was rather strange that the officer hadn't given a reason for such a dangerous flight to be attempted, but most people didn't ask questions of higher ranking officers.

Arman thought the briefing was pretty boring. So he was light-napping most of the time. When he was awake, it seemed there was a toll for not paying attention. He had NO idea what was going on. He just assumed the starting would include checking for fuel, checking engines, etc. Arman had been ordered to lightly check most of the planes with the other teams, but he was primarily on one team, with some people named, Felix,John,Hugo, and of course, himself. After Arman checked all the planes, he didn't know who his team were, and which plane they belonged to. Walking along, Arman knew that if he asked an officer, the officer would probably be suspicious. So he would go to another pilot. The military base Arman was in, was not surprisingly very large. The planes were mostly fit for 2-3 people. So he asked the first person he saw, "Where is team, uhhh, 192?" Only picking up in the briefing, he belonged in that team.

"It's right here pal, My name is John! I'd assume you're Arman. Seeing you were the only person missing 2 minutes ago."

Then Arman realized he was late. Crap. After talking with John, he went onboard Team 192's plane. Arman was told that he would be flying with Felix. Arman had seen Felix a few times before. Arman held no grudges against him, and was ready to fly with a new partner.

Felix tinkered around for a few more minutes before two of the other crew members showed up. He met them outside and nodded in greeting. He found out that their names were John and Hugo when they introduced themselves. Felix couldn't help but smile at John's friendly personality as he started off their conversation with a joke. Together they finished checking the plane's mechanics, despite missing a crew member. Felix stood up from the co-pilot's chair when he saw someone new walk in. Actually, to be quite literal, he had seen the man around the base occasionally, but they had never really talked. "Hello. I assume you are the last crew member? I'm Felix." He said politely. He offered his hand, then realized it was incredibly greasy from checking the engine. He wiped it on the back of his pants then held it out again.

Arman, saw that this man was very kind, so he gladly took, and shook the hand. "I'm Arman! Nice to meet you." Arman at this point was ready to start flying! He was only a junior pilot, and had been in the Air force for at least 2 months. Liking Felix already, due to his kind personality, offering a greeting immediately. Looking around at the takeoff room, he calculated it would have to be a quick takeoff. Arman took out a radio, that he always kept on him. But just before he was going to alert the commanding officers to tell them Team 192 was ready, he had to ask Felix if everything on the plane was checked, engines, fuel, etc. "Are we ready for launch off Felix? Or do we need a little more time to prepare and chat."

(Sorry for the shortness of this, mainly due to the fact that we are chatting.)

Felix shook Arman's hand with a smile. "Nice to meet you too." He said, glancing around the cabin. He had forgotten to ask John or Hugo to grab the survival kits, but one of them seemed to have done it on their own. He counted the headsets in his head and nodded a little when they were all where they were supposed to be. "Well, I don't know about chatting but we already did the pre-flight check. Do you need to do anything or are we ready to strap in?" He asked, glancing out the window at John and Hugo who were talking.

Arman was ready for this mission, he thought everything on the plane is okay. Arman wished he could just retire from war, but he was way to young, and he needed to gain money to survive. "We are ready, I'll contact the commanding officers." As he said that he took out his radio again. "Team 192, is ready sir! Once all other teams are ready, we will begin takeoff!" Then Arman signaled John, and Hugo for flight. He got in his seat, strapped on his seatbelt. "Let's get this on with."

Felix nodded and listened to Arman alert the commanding officers that they were ready. He put on his leather 'helmet' and headset as he sat in his chair. He glanced out of the window to see the other planes lining up on the runway. He waited for the crew to all signal that they were ready before guiding the plane into the line. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down. He had already done several missions, but this was the longest, and therefore the most dangerous one so far. "Is this your first mission?" He asked Arman, having already asked John and Hugo the same question.

Arman was a bit nervous, but he could finish this mission. "This is my 4th mission." The other ones were quite minor and easy. This was the most important mission Arman had done. Just as he finished this thought Hugo, and John were ready. The few last teams were getting ready too. A microphone turned on that instant. "Hello to all teams participating in this mission, countdown will begin soon, take this time to have a short relaxer." After that, everybody was completely ready. Arman booted up the engines, and prepared to start the jets.

Felix smiled slightly. "Good, it will be nice having previous experience on this mission." He said, trying to relax like the person on the radio suggested. He glanced back at Hugo and John again before flicking a few controls to prepare for take off. He saw the other pilots start their engines just as Arman did the same. He closed his eyes and pictured the map. He knew it wasn't his job to remember the route since he wasn't the navigator, but he liked knowing where they would be anyway. He glanced over at Arman to see how he was doing before returning his attention to his controls.

(Sorry about responding so late, Notifications aren't doing good, and I had to go on a trip.)

Arman felt something bad about this mission, but he had to keep his family in mind. Looking at the microphones, he had expected a countdown, and that's what he got. The mission operators started the countdown. Arman started the jets, and the plane moved slightly. Getting faster, and faster, their plane was slowly going into the runway section. Arman aksed Felix, John and Hugo "Ready for lift off?"

(And sorry for the short paragraph.)

(That's okay, I understand)

Felix could feel himself tensing more and more as the count-down started. He tried to relax as the jets started roaring as they went down the runway. He knew when they were in the air he would be fine. Beyond all reasoning, this happened before every mission. Every count-down got him extremely tense as did the moments before lift-off. When they started flying, however, he felt calm and comfortable almost immediately. It never helped when one of the planes malfunctioned before it took off, but everything seemed to be going smoothly so far. He glanced over at Arman then at John and Hugo before looking back out of the windshield. "Yeah, everything seems to be working fine." He said, double checking his controls.

Arman looked through the air, everything seemed to be going fine. It felt awesome, and tense, in the air. All the other squads and planes were slowly being seperated. Arman was ready to for danger. The sun slowly set, the flight was probably going to be long. Arman calculated it to be at least one night. The dark clouds slowly came. Then some splatting noises came from the top of the plane. "Great... now it's raining..." As they flew down, Arman saw several land masses. He guessed them to be Spain, and England. Checking his radar, the coordinates they were supposed to fly to, and his controls, everything seemed fine. A bit too fine. There was some turbulance and other problems, but they dissapeared soon enough. There was nothing really great to do right now. He heard that other planes were getting major turbulance, Arman wondered if it would pass to them soon..

Felix relaxed as they took off and began their flight. He watched the other planes fan out until he could only barely see them. He sighed at the dark clouds and the rain that followed. Thankfully, it wasn't anything too rough so far. They lowered the plane a little, trying to get under the storm. He listened to the radio from the other planes, relieved that the storm didn't seem too bad. Not much later, the other planes were reporting worse weather, but Felix didn't notice a difference on their plane. He scanned the controls then looked down at the ground. He had always loved that the earth looked like a little toy world from up here. He relaxed in his seat, since they weren't supposed to be over enemy land for a while as far as he could tell.

Arman looked down the Earth. It was relaxing, and hypnotizing. He was sure that it would sure end soon, The storm was getting a bit worse, but it was mostly fine. According to their coordinates, they were 2 hours away from their destination. Later, the storm was slowly passing out, though a little bit of it remained. All the controls, and engines seemed fine. It was boring. Arman heard some small sthhh sthhh noises. He ignored it, and went back to flying. It might have just been his imagination. While the day passed, it seemed they were getting some more turbulence. They were very close to their destination. The air seemed a bit tense. The danger of this mission would be insane. Sthhh sthhh

Felix yawned and leaned his head back against the chair. He knew it was smarter to keep alert at all times, but after all the midnight missions he was getting tired. He sat up and tensed a little as the storm got slightly worse. Later, the storm wasn't quite as bad and the reports from the other planes sounded fine. "We should go into radio-silence soon." He announced, for no particular reason. He cocked his head and listened as he thought he heard a strange noise. A while later he glanced out the window at the other planes that were all still barely in sight. He glanced back at John and Hugo to see how they were doing with the turbulence. He heard the noise again and looked at the others to see if they heard it.

Arman heard the noise again, and again. Repeating. It seems that it was slightly unbalancing the flight. Looking at the small Earth, it seemed they were getting closer. Arman thought about the mission's dangers, if any enemy soldiers caught them, it would be bad. They were close to their coordinates, Arman guessed 30 minutes away. Later, Felix announced to go into radio-silence. Arman responded, "The landing is gonna happen soon, we should focus on the radio." A few minutes later the mission operators told all the planes to get ready for landing, it was only 10 minutes away.

(Again, sorry, had to go to a relative's house.)

Felix cocked his head as he listened to the noise, trying to figure out if it was gunfire or something else. He looked out of the window and down at the ground, but he couldn't see anything worth mentioning. At Arman's comment, he bit his lip and looked back at the other planes. He hoped everyone would land without issues. They all knew how bad it would be if they crashed and were caught by the enemy. Less than half of the crew were able to jump from a falling plane and land successfully under most circumstances. With the turbulence and rain, the chances of a successful parachute jump were slim to none. Felix took a deep breath and made sure everything was in order for the upcoming landing. This was probably going to be the longest and most suspenseful 10 minutes of his life.

(It's fine. I have a real life too. :) )

Arman looked out the window, he knew they were going to be landing soon. Some other teams were preparing for landing, while they were just starting to get the landing announcement. Sooner, Arman took out a parachute, he thought of the suspense, and put it on. Everything was starting. Arman saw a pilot already opening her plane. A few heartbeats later, one team had completely landed. They were supposed to soon. Arman was ready. The landing for them, was only moments away. "So are we ready?" He asked all of the others.

(Sorry about that!)

Felix looked out of the window at the other planes, making sure they weren't too close. He took a steadying breath and pulled out his parachute. He strapped it on and double checked that it would work properly. He watched the crew of another plane jump and hoped they made it out okay. He saw Arman and the others get their parachutes on. "I'm ready. Opening the jump doors, now." He said, flipping the switch that opened the doors. He grabbed something to steady himself from the rush of wind. He glanced over at the others and nodded for them to jump first.

(Alright, no problem, it's fine with me.)

Arman looked out at the beautiful clouds, the heavy breeze came in after that, as John, and then Hugo jumped out. Arman intensified. "Alright... 3.....2.....1!" He jumped off of the plane. Feeling like he was flying, Arman slowly moved his hands under the pressure to open his parachute. It popped out, and he slew down majorly. The parachute slowly expanded. He heard the operators in his radio, "500 meters away from landing! Brace yourselves!" Arman slowly descended down. The air pressure was going down a bit. He saw the other's coming ahead of him. The ground was getting closer and closer, the suspense was real.

Felix tensed slightly as the others jumped. He scanned the plane again, wishing he could stay up here. He moved to the door and watched the others' parachutes open below him. He counted down in his head then jumped out. He counted down again before pulling his parachute. It billowed out above him and he was pulled into a slower descent. He looked around at all the different parachutes around him, once again hoping they all made it. He gasped as a rough wind blew past, making him swing back and forth. He grabbed the straps stretching out above him in an effort to steady himself as the ground came closer. The radio operators warned him that his landing was coming up. He clenched his teeth and tried harder to steady himself.
