One Piece: A Race to the End is a fandom alternate universe roleplay that follows three unique pirate crews on their journey across the Grand Line. Their adventures will cross, they will intertwine, but only one captain can be named King of the Pirates at the end of it all. Does that make it a competition? Well, that depends on whether or not they all want the title.
Abilities

There are a multitude of unique abilities available to individuals within the world of One Piece. Some of them may be simple combat techniques that can be learned with a proper teacher while others are far more coveted or even not so coveted in some cases. This listing is in no way complete although the more powerful abilities are listed here for record.

Devil Fruits
Devil Fruits are mystical fruits found in the world that can give the eater many different and varying kinds of strange and interesting abilities, depending on the type and variation of the fruit itself. Furthermore, they have other unique and distinguishing qualities.

  • Devil fruits are said to be fruits of the devil. The secret to their power is supposedly hidden in the Grand Line. Encounters with devil fruits are rare.

  • Devil Fruits are worth a lot of money. Anyone can be sold for a value of well over 100,000,000 beli although different fruits will fetch different prices depending on what the fruit is.

  • Devil Fruits taste unimaginably bad. The taste is comparable to poison.

  • There can only be one of each type of fruit at a time, and thus only one individual with a certain Devil Fruit ability at a time.

  • There are three types of Devil Fruits.
Paramecia Class
The most common of the three classes, Paramecia class Devil Fruits offer their users superhuman physical abilities or traits, such as shock wave generation and locking onto targets. Other fruits can alter features of the body such as a rubber physique or a body of blades, or the people, objects, and environment around the user, like levitating objects or turning people into toys. Finally, there are some users that can manipulate and generate some kinds of substances, such as wax and poison.
Zoan Class
The users of Zoan class Devil Fruits gain the ability to transform into an animal (and acquire every trait affiliated with said animal). The user can also transform into a human-animal hybrid form or a twin-beast hybrid. Zoan fruits can also be transferred into weapons, such as guns or swords. There are Zoan Devil Fruits based not only on common animals, but also on prehistoric animals like dinosaurs and mythological creatures as well (ancient and mythological are rarer than the typical Zoan fruit, with mythological said to be even rarer than Logia Devil Fruits).
Logia Class
The rarest of the three Devil Fruit classes, Logia class Devil Fruits offer their users the ability to transform themselves into an element, whether it be solid elements like ice or sand, liquids like mud or syrup, gases like smoke and poison gas, forms of plasma (in some cases, energies) like fire and lightning, or into a materialization of abstract concepts such as darkness. This can effectively make them intangible, making physical attacks harmlessly go through them, or allow them to be able to absorb the attack completely. They also gain every ability related to that element and gain the skill to disperse, control, and rejoin any part of their bodies while conscious and in control of their powers (including explosions, bullet wounds or cuts). Logia users can move every part of their transformed bodies while in element form.

Haki
Haki is a mysterious power that is found in every living being in the world. It is not that different from the normal senses. However, most people do not notice it or fail to awaken it. Broadly, there are two types of Haki common to everyone, given the proper training; however, there is a third type that only a certain group of "chosen ones" are said to possess. In simple terms, Haki is an ability to sense spiritual energy (Observation), use life force (Armaments), and overpower enemies (Conqueror's).
Observation Haki
Observation Haki, also known as Mantra is a form of Haki that allows the user to sense the presence of others, even if they are concealed from view or too far to see naturally. The user can also use this Haki to predict an opponent's moves shortly before they make them, thereby making the attack much easier to evade with enough skill. This prediction appears to the user as an image or brief "premonition" of what the opponent will do in the user's mind's eye, and the damage the user will take if the attack actually "hits". It appears that the more killing intent the enemy has, the easier they are to predict. Although, more skilled users can predict future moves whether there are ambient murderous intents or not.
Armament Haki
Armaments Haki allows the user to use their spirit life force to create an essense of an invisible armor around themselves. Similar to Tekkai, this Haki allows the user to defend against attacks that would otherwise cause them harm. Significant physical force can still overcome this defense. Naturally this "invisible armor" can also be used as a weapon to strike others with. It can be used to augment the user's own physical attacks, projected ahead of the user as pure brute force, or imbued into weapons to increase their effectiveness. Any attack enhanced by Armaments Haki hits immensely harder than it would normally without it. This type of Haki also has the ability to bypass the powers of a Devil Fruit user whose body has been altered by their fruit in any way, touching the "substantial body" beneath whatever protection the fruit provides, such as the case of body-altering Devil Fruits such as Logia or Paramecia users. However, unlike Seastone, it does not actually nullify a user's Devil Fruit powers, so it still allows them to defend themselves, and continue fighting normally. By the same effect, this Haki can also be used as a higher level of offensive power, more so than just bypassing a foe's Devil Fruit powers. A heavy concentration (or coating) of this Haki can be used to harden parts of one's body, turning the area black, thus making the user denser and more formidable, and giving their attacks greater power.
Conqueror’s Haki
Conqueror's Haki is a rare form of Haki that cannot be attained through training. Only one in several million people have this ability. This type of Haki allows the user to exert their willpower over others. It is said that whoever possesses this type of Haki has the qualities of a king. This type of Haki grants the user the ability to dominate the wills of others. The most common usage of it is using it to exert the user's willpower onto those with weak wills and rendering them unconscious. Whilst inexperienced users are restricted to merely overpowering the will of one individual or blindly knocking out weak-willed people around them, those with more expertise can pick out weak-willed individuals in a large group and knock them out without affecting the others. However, those with stronger wills can resist or even ignore the effects of Conqueror's Haki. The ability to knock someone out depends on the difference in strength between the person using the Haki and the person or persons the user is trying to knock out. The greater the power gap, the easier it is to knock the victim out. While this type of Haki cannot be attained through training, it can be improved upon through strengthening the will of the user. It seems that upon recovery, victims of Conqueror's Haki experience the sensation of chills running through their body. However, it presumably wears off after a short period. One can also use Conqueror's Haki to destroy things.

Rokushiki
Rokushiki, also known as The Six Powers, is a special superhuman martial arts style that was originally developed by the world government’s CP9 agents.
Moonwalk
Moonwalk allows the users to actually jump off the air itself, allowing them to stay in the air for much longer than usual. Often used for extended air time or aerial attacks.
Iron Body
Iron Body hardens the users' muscles to the level of iron, in order to nullify damage taken from attacks. However, it can be broken by strong enough forces. The vast majority of those using this technique are immobilized while using it.
Finger Pistol
Finger Pistol is a close-quarter combat technique, in which the user pushes their finger into a certain target at a very high speed, leaving a wound similar to a bullet wound.
Tempest Kick
Tempest Kick is a powerful projectile technique, in which the users start by kicking at very high speeds and strength. Sending out a sharp compressed air blade that can slice objects and greatly damage a human body. However, it has been shown that almost any length of appendage at high velocities are also capable of this move.
Shave
Shave allows the users to move at extremely high speeds in order to avoid attacks, as well as to attack at higher speeds and with greater power. It was revealed that the principle of this move was to kick off the ground at least ten times in the blink of an eye.
Paper Art
Paper Art makes the users' body go limp in order to avoid any attacks, and float like a piece of paper.
Six King’s Gun
Six King's Gun is the secret and ultimate attack of the Rokushiki fighting style. Only those who have absolute mastery of the other six skills can have access to this seventh skill. The user places both their fists right in front of the target and launches a devastating shock wave in a forward direction. The burst is a reminiscence to that released by an Impact or Reject Dial.

Global Organizations

The world of One Piece is flooded with governing bodies, groups of power, titles with significant meaning and all of them can be either friend or foe. Regardless of which side they fall on, these names carry with them meanings that every pirate would know. Therefore, you as a roleplayer truly ought to know them as well. This database is by no means complete as there’s sure to be original groups created as our story grows.

The Marines
The Marines are the World Government's military sea force, tasked with law enforcement, international security and military operations. The Marines are one of the three great powers, alongside the Shichibukai and the Yonko. They are present in all the seas around the world, as evidenced by their branch offices. The focus of their assets is on the far more dangerous Grand Line. The duty of the Marines is to maintain a law and order throughout the world and impose the will and might of the World Government. They are therefore considered the key strategic development force in the World Government and are expected to obey its orders at will. Sometimes these orders are questionable, however they are expected to carry them out regardless of opinion.

Amongst their duties is awarding bounty hunters the bounties on the heads of a criminal. They tolerate bounty hunters as a method of making their job easier but are known to go out bounty hunting themselves. Apprehended criminals who are brought in alive are handed over to be made an example of, the Marines are left to ensuring the exportation of these criminals to prison and/or to their execution. The main purpose of the Marines remain footed in the idea of bringing justice to any criminal. They use justice as their constituted policy to manage a world that is made entirely of one ocean much easier.

However, the main problem within the Marines is the approach to Justice. They are generally divided between those who support Moral Justice and those who support Absolute Justice with the latter being the code of conduct for the Marines as a central doctrine. Nevertheless, there is little worry from the higher ranked Marines as to how the Justice is carried out so long as it is, leading those who truly support absolute justice to make questionable actions in carrying out their duties.

The Marines are also aided by the Shichibukai in terms of maintaining the "Three Great Powers", and as such, are expected to cooperate when necessary. One of the most questionable parts of their "Justice" is when it comes to slavery. Despite the practice supposedly being abolished years before, it is often shown that they just look the other way. Especially when it comes to the World Nobles' slaves, where it is even seen as a crime to free said slaves even if the person is merely a child. Often they are tasked to find and retrieve the person to be a slave once again.

Shichibukai
The Shichibukai (The Seven Warlords of the Sea) are seven powerful and notorious pirates who have allied themselves with the World Government. The Shichibukai is an organization of seven pirates turned privateers in the service of the World Government. Although they work for the World Government, the Shichibukai themselves typically do not care about nor respect the Government or even other Shichibukai, and are often considered by the Marines to be no different from any other pirate. On the other hand, they are known as "government dogs" and are despised by other pirates, but are still feared and respected for their infamous reputation and strength which they gained before, and even after they become Shichibukai.

The Shichibukai seem to be a mixture of the more chaotic Yonko and the more orderly Marines. The majority of the Shichibukai are composed of New World veterans; those who have met the Yonko or even fought against them. There is an enormous range in the bounties between the members due to differences in circumstances under which they were recruited, and it should be noted that these are their former bounties, and do not represent the current threat they could achieve as active pirates.

A pirate may choose to join the Shichibukai if a space becomes vacant. However, in order for one to become a Shichibukai once this position opens up, one must be able to exhibit their strength against other pirates while choosing to pledge loyalty to the World Government (this ironically encourages pirates to gain infamy to become a Shichibukai). If the pirate in question can be used as intimidation, the position may be offered to them, if no other pirate has accepted the position or proven to be more of an asset to the World Government. As expected, most members were already notorious pirates with high bounties, but even relatively unknown pirates can be admitted if they accomplish a feat to prove their strength.

They do not express open defiance to the authority of the World Government, but are not obligated to follow its orders either. They are technically only allowed to attack other pirates, and must also compensate the Government with a portion of their plunder, although this regulation is not followed most of the time. Each member of the Shichibukai must also have strong intimidation skills and a fearsome image to put off others becoming a pirate and make them fear them. In addition it can be assumed that once someone becomes appointed to the Shichibukai they must be undefeated to maintain their position, or at least are not allowed to have a widely known debacle or scandal that affects their reputation. Some of the members do various tasks for the government, such as conquering new islands for the World Government (described as "liberating") and protecting nations, but their ultimate purpose is to keep other pirates in check. Most importantly, the Shichibukai provide assistance to maintain the balance of The Three Great Powers.

Yonko
The Yonko (The Four Emperors) are the four most notorious and most powerful pirate captains in the world, but are neither allies nor enemies of one another, preferring to remain autonomous under most circumstances. These four individually reside within the second half of the Grand Line (known as the "New World"), exerting impressive influence and control over dozens of other pirate crews and self-governing islands.

As an entity, the Yonko are one of the Three Great Powers of the world, the others being the Shichibukai and Marines. Their strength and influence are such that they live quite literally as though they are emperors, doing mostly as they please. Individually, they are considered to be the most powerful pirates in the world, as well as having a powerful crew. Because of their power, they can declare chosen locations as their own; the mere declaration is often enough for others, both Marines and pirates alike, to acknowledge their authority. In fact, in the New World, they each have a territory that they govern. These territories benefit from the protection the Yonko provide, keeping the borders safe from any faction that might want to invade them.

It is only with the combined efforts of the Marines and the Shichibukai, as well as the distrust among them, that keeps their power in check. The Yonko themselves are not allied together as a coalition compared to the Shichibukai and follow their own individual paths. The possibility of two or more of the Yonko forming an alliance is enough of a threat to cause the World Government to panic.

The Grand Line: Paradise

The first half of the world's most dangerous ocean, the Grand Line. Known as the Pirate's Graveyard by those of the Blue's, due to the quantity of pirates who try and traverse it but die in the process. However those who have reached the second half of the Grand Line call it Paradise due to how much kinder it is to pirates comparatively. Islands here are categorized as either a summer, spring, winter, or fall island. Though they have their own seasons, which gives islands on the Grand Line a possible 16 seasons.

To navigate the Grand Line one needs a special compass called a Log Pose, which locks onto the magnetic field of the next island. One can also obtain an Eternal pose which is forever set to a specific island. There are multiple paths to choose from on the Grand Line, though they can intersect ever so often. Also, they all converge at the point where one would enter the New World, via Fishman Island or going over the Red Line through Mariejois.

Fera Spiritus
Fera Spiritus, wild spirit in latin, an island hidden from the world. The existence of this island is rumored throughout the seas, but not many have ever been to it. Only a select few among the world's free spirits. Fera Spiritus is home to the Rugitus Spiritus clan, a tribe of primal people who don't take kindly to strangers. The Rugitus Spiritus go farther back in time than can be documented and have become a legendary warrior clan. They are largely in tune with nature and wild life, rarely killing animals and working with them to survive. The Rugitus Spiritus are currently headed by Spiritus Annorum, the Old Spirit, who is a wise, caring leader unafraid to make the hard choices. He also values the use of books as teaching tools and documenting their current era for the next generation. The Rugitus Spiritus are skilled in all trades including but not limited to blacksmith, carpentry, construction, remedy making, and much more.
Grellista Island
Situated in the first half of the Grand Line known as Paradise, Grellista is a a misleadingly beautiful land. As a Spring Island it is in bloom seemingly all year long, which distracts most from it's militant nature. The island most Minks settle down in outside of Zou, the other people of this island have grown accustomed to them. Many families on this island have roots in the island's military or the World Navy for as long as either have existed. Even if one is not built for combat, all born here are expected to serve in some respect to either military force. Rare are the offspring who do otherwise and even rarer are the parents who support them. Despite its militant nature it is quite welcoming to tourists who come from afar to marvel at the sprawling castles, forts, and other military structures.
The Island of Harmless People Who Aren’t Ninjas
A Fall Island on the Grand Line's first half, this island is not frequently visited by casual tourists. An island well known for excellent warriors, whether they be pirate, marine, or run of the mill assassin. Each generation of youth are trained under those who experienced the world and returned here to live and teach the following generations. The island is actually one large, forested volcano with many clan situated across the islands forests. Thin beaches of gray and red sand circle the full island. In recent years slavers seem to be attempting to take children of the island captive to sell in the underground slave trade.

The West Blue

The West Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. West Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. It is also the starting point for our roleplay, in the town of Mirstone. West Blue is the third strongest of the four Blues, though few of it's inhabitants take particular interest in this fact. The West Blue is known for the variety of it's culture and society, which is a point of many citizens pride. The monetarily richest of the Blue's, if one is to find a World Noble outside of the Grand Line this is where they'd be.

Mirstone
Mirstone is a town located on a small island out on the West Blue. The Island has a vast jungle, with a few hills and mountains, surrounding the town and the island forms a crescent shape around a large harbour with one narrow passage entering the harbour that can only be accessed during a 6 hour period each day, due to rising and falling tides. The town itself is owned by former pirates and criminals and is known as a safe haven for pirates as there is no marine base located on the island. The town has a variety of shops and bars, along with a large shipyard and a fairly extensive weapons market.
Pulderé Archipelago
A string of islands in the middle of the West Blue, many famous musicians trace their birth or careers start to here. A cultural powerhouse where music is concerned, just about every single resident can play one instrument or another. Freedom and art are the two highest virtues held here, and so those who have an adventuring spirit often are found as musicians aboard pirate crews. The island always has some form of performance or concert going on regardless of when you arrive, and is very welcoming of visitors who come peacefully. Not a World Government affiliated nation.
The Hallows
The Hallows is an island in the West Blue that is known to have deep connections to its history. They are firmly rooted in the belief that a Princess crowned by a God used to reside on their island. They are very community oriented and they always ensure that everyone on the island has a job and a way to contribute to society. Everyone has a title that is descriptive of the tasks they perform such as Leader, Watcher, Recorder, Innkeeper, Cooker, Caretaker, etc. The Hallows is not a World Government affiliated organization.
Neogenesis Island
An island surrounded by a perpetual fog. The island itself is rather beautiful and bountiful, yet was only just recently World Government affiliated. So pirate attacks were a rather over abundant issue until the last five or so years. Though people wonder why, as the Marines do not go to the island themselves. Recently this island has been avoided by all as rumor of creatures in its surrounding waters has scared off most.
Silent Isle
This island known by the locals as the Sleepless Island has been long since falsely named ever since a deaf man decided to name the island. This island is anything but silent~ It is 90% forest and only 10% flat lands. In the forest portion there are a ton animals ranging from several species of wolves to several species of birds. This island despite the size of it, only house one village which lives in the small part of the island that is flat and perfect for farming. This island mainly keeps to themselves, but they are very friendly to strangers and are more than open to trade with them.

The East Blue

The East Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. The East Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border called the Red Line. The East Blue is commonly known as the weakest of all the seas. Pirates who are considered great and threatening in this sea are regarded as low rate compared to pirates from the other seas and especially in the Grand Line. The East Blue is known mainly for being the sea where the pirate king, Gol D. Roger, was born. Loguetown, the city in the East Blue located closest to the Grand Line, was the birthplace of the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. It also became the place where he was executed, and it was the words spoken by Roger just before his death that set off the Great Age of Pirates. It became a stopping place for pirates heading towards the Grand Line, as a nearby Lighthouse lit up the route towards Reverse Mountain, the entrance of the Grand Line.

Fischer Island
Fischer Island has a booming fish industry despite being a small island. All of the fishing boats leave from Dublin Town's port. Dublin Town looks more like a large village than a city. The men of the island are typically fishermen or sailors. Life is simple and has a small town feel. There is no Marine presence on the island, so if you do something wrong you'll have to answer to the local cops and maybe even the mayor. The wildlife isn't threatening since it consists small lizards and frogs, small birds, deer and small mammals (foxes, hedgehogs, hares, and badgers). The fish around Fischer Island aren't dangerous, even the occasional shark is the kind that eats plankton. Dolphins and whales can also be seen on occasion.
Arcturus
Situated in the northernmost part of the East Blue, Arcturus is actually completely lacking in snow and ice. Originally named to throw off raids from pirates and adventurers seeking bountiful land. It is a lush green island where most are farmers of one type or another. Although as of late youth culture on the island seems to be straying from the generations of farming and the youth seek adventure and urban expansion. This has created a rift between the different generations of inhabitants. It's main export is corn and wheat. Not a World Government affiliated nation.

The North Blue

The North Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. North Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. The Blue most known for it's cold and snowy climates, the people of this blue tend to be hardy and adapt well to different environments. Of the Blue's the North Blue tends to be known as the strongest blue due to it's peoples adaptive and hardy nature. On top of this lately the slave trade has been cracked down on to an overwhelming extent here, and slavers try to avoid it's waters to the best of their ability. This has led to escaped slaves running to this Blue to hide and make new lives for themselves, which has led to a recent rise in population..

The Plastic Resort
The Plastic Resort is a secret haven designed for the wealthiest of the wealthy. It was supposed to be an escape for those who could afford it, and those who needed to get away from being the center of attention. After the slavery ring that had overtaken Cinder Island essentially ruined the town, they relocated (along with the hostages they've taken) to the Plastic Resort. The nature of the resort made the capture an easy task. Eventually, the resort became the home of Pitfights, a sort of fighting ring in which slaves were forced to beat one another till death. Controversially, the Pitfights were kept as an attraction for the citizens once the marines freed the place of the slavery ring.
Rozzario Kingdom
Situated in a bit of the North Blue slightly less cold than the rest, running along the Calm Belt is Rozzaria Kingdom. Once, not very long ago, an independent nation. It has since allied itself with the World Government in hopes to receive help stabilizing after a recent civil war and the death of their royal family. A beautiful land full of incredible flowers and plants of all sorts, it has long since been a popular tourist attraction. It is especially favored recently as an island with a zero tolerance policy on slavery to the degree that Celestial Dragons refuse to go there. Much of the population has been replaced with slaves who've fled here to keep the freedom they escaped their captors for.
Run’s Riv
Some people call Run’s Riv a single island. Others say that all the rivers running through it’s core make it several different islands all packed really close together. Regardless of technicalities, though, Run’s Riv is one single civilization of people whose livelihood is based upon the myriad of rivers dividing its landmass. Most of the families are farmers who farm Chinampas - artificial islands that float on the water. In addition to its interesting layout, the island is also known for having strong swimmers.

The South Blue

The South Blue is an ocean in the One Piece World. South Blue, like its sister seas, comprises almost entirely of ocean, with a few scattered islands and a border with the Red Line. The South Blue is the hottest of the four blues, and many of those rich enough will pay to vacation in it's tropical environments. It is the second strongest blue after North Blue, though many of it's prideful inhabitants would argue it the stronger of the two. The South Blue is often plagued by summer storms due to it's warmer climate.

Adraniwin Island
Situated far in the South Blue, along the Red Line, is Adraniwin Island. A heavy tropical forested environment where things never cease growing. Most of the island lacks any form of government or structure as all people fend for themselves. Survival of the fittest is the supreme law for just about everywhere, and it's seen in the small amount of the population that actually make it to adulthood. The only portion of this island that's "civilized" is a small Marine Base on it's southern shore. The Base tends to attempt recruiting those hardy enough to survive into the Marines, offering goods to their families in exchange for service. Every so often more savage inhabitants will attack the base, but no attacks have succeeded in more than one or two casualties thus far.

The New World

The second half of the Grand Line, and the far more dangerous portion. The ocean where the Yonko make their homes and rule their personally selected territories. Weather and climate is even more unpredictable here then in the first half of the Grand Line. Not to mention the dangerous and undiscovered wildlife. As Gol D. Roger is the only one to have sailed the entire ocean in living memory, much of the New World remains undiscovered or undocumented.

Here single Log Poses are no longer used, instead Log Poses have three separate needles. These indicate the three nearest islands to your location, with the stability of the needle indicating the stability of the island's magnetic field. Many use this to determine which island is most dangerous. As the first half of the Grand Line does, there are also multiple paths to travel in the New World. Though they are less rigid due to the multiple log poses leading them to cross more often.

Limnos
An advanced society with the latest innovations in weaponry, technology, and software, Limnos had it all. Its citizens were happy and its fighters were renowned for being able to wield the complex configurations that the scientists on the island invented. Everything from combat robots, plasma pistols, and particle bombs: the combatants were truly a force to be reckoned with. However, after being conquered by an emperor, it was plunged into disaster. The island's inhabitants were told that they were under the dictatorship of an emperor and that the technology was being confiscated. Now, the citizens have to learn how to adapt to life without the machines, some even left the island.
Drakklor: The Island of Dragons
An island in the second half of the Grand Line, New World. Even amongst the New World it is an island avoided by almost anyone but the most powerful or foolhardy. An expansive island that of several countries, it as the name would imply is home to living breathing dragons of all stripes. The island itself seems some sort of hellish call back to prehistoric nature. Volcanoes, mountains, massive creatures of all stripes. Many inhabitants of the Grand Line believe this island to be a myth, that no such creature as a dragon could exist. Yet every so often an adventurer of some renown speaks of having visited and spoken with the Ancient Drake that supposedly rules Dragon kind.
