Fantasy Whisper Wood (A fantasy adventure rp)

"I need to know more about that attack on Damien...." Kalora mumbled under her breath. "If it's the same people..." Then what? What was she going to do? Scold them? Change into her slender wolf form and howl? She wasn't much of a fighter when it came to actual combat. Sure, she could defend herself when needed, but she wouldn't pick a fight. Her strength was in the game of words, trickery, and stealth. And poison, occasionally. Either way, give her a sword and she'd flail it. Ah well, at least them maybe the enemies would laugh themselves to death.... Or be so distracted with laughing at her that she, or someone else, would actually manage to strike them. No, Kalora wasn't all that fearsome in battles. Sure, she could scare people when angered, and she could be dangerous in her own way. Just... not in direct combat. She sighed, shook her head, and pulled herself from her endless stream of thoughts.

"Yes..." she muttered. "We should find out more about that Dragon Kingdom... How are they involved? Why? What happened the last time they got involved somewhere outside their own kingdom? So many questions... and so little answers. In all honesty I doubt my study, or even the royal library will be of much help..." The more she mentioned the Dragon Kingdom, the more she got the feeling there had to be something she remembered. Even if it was just an old story, a legend. Tales that likely weren't any truth.

"Sure, I'll... escort you," Kalora said. "I could do with some breakfast anyway. With all the hurrying and things going on I just flat out forgot to eat last night, haha."

She frowned at Kael. "That's not a very nice thing to say. Lady Novah tried her very best to keep you from dying. Sure, I know the potions aren't really pleasant to drink, but you could show the girl a little more gratitude." She walked out of the Prince's room and took a deep breath. Once she'd had some food, she would go outside and get some fresh air, she could really use that. And maybe she'd seek out Novah too. Kalora felt like she needed to have a word with the heartbroken girl.

"Ah, hello y'all," Kalora greeted the others in the hallway. She recognized Azure, the human girl, the mercenary she had send out the night before. But there were others as well she couldn't quite place right away. Probably they would recognize her. It happened more often than she liked people knew who she was without knowing who they were. A true shame for someone in her position. Ah well, at least they didn't know what she was, other than a bard and friend of the Queen. Likely, if they would greet her (and introduce themselves), she would remember them. "It's surprisingly busy in this hall here this morning..."

"Hi Kalora. Youve found the hall outside the humans." Azure greeted softly, giving the shifter a friendly nod and an explanation. Out of habit, she tactfully ignored the tall male with her. As a close friend of the Queen, it wasnt uncommon to see strangers with Kalora, and more often than not, it was better to not ask.

Cerulean, in his usual mood, gave Kalora a small bow. "Miss Kalora, I dont believe we have formally met. Both too busy, I suppose. Cerulean, brother to Azure." He said gallantly, smiling warmly.

Azure rolled her eyes, resisting the urge to scoff and call him a ham.

"Breakfast is prepared for our guests this morning, Miss Scarlett, if you would like to wake your friends, we could all go down to the hall together to enjoy it." He said, glancing at the elf to include him in the guests, but focusing on Scarlett, and this time Azure did roll her eyes.

"Stop it, Cerulean. She has better taste than that." She said with a snide grin, drawing a mock gasp of horror from her brother.

"I dare say I am everyone's taste, if not an aquired one." He retorted, straightening his lapels in a show of mock haughtiness.

Azure laughed lightly, then looked back to Scarlett. "Just go grab your friends, they must be hungry too."

"Hello," Scarlett smiled towards the girl that spoke to Damian the night before. "That's the thing," she said running her fingers through her long hair trying to brush it out, "Damian brought me back last night so I have no idea where they are." She could go look for them, but that would take forever in a place like this, but on the other hand she'd probably find some pretty cool things in a place like this. Scarlett looked at the man with Kalora, he seemed different somehow but she didn't question it. Part of her couldn't wait to get home to sketch all of these beautiful things in her book, even if it was just from memory but another part of her wanted to see so much more and that part, was definitely winning.

Azure and Cerulean shared a brief glance at the mention of Damian. He raised an eyebrow, she shrugged, and then he waggled his eyebrows goofily. She snorted, and turned back to Scarlett. "Theyre all in the rooms down this hall. I didnt think we were quite familiar enough with each other for me to barge in on any of them. That, and I didnt realize humans slept so late." Azure said, but there was no judgement in her voice. "The girls are on the right side of the hall, and that boy that doesnt talk is on the left." She added, just trying to be helpful.

Tearing herself of the mess of sheets, Dysis stood with a yawn. She was incredibleluy sore and stiff. As she slowly made her way to the door of her room, she was using her left hand to try and loosen up her right shoulder. Pausing to open the door, she resumed her previous task while stepping out into the hall. Seeing Azure and a few other guards, Dysis made her way stiffly over to them. "Mornin'" she greeted them drowsily.

"I don't usually sleep so late, most days I have to be up at the crack of dawn for stretching and practice, I can't speak for the others though," Scarlett laughed knowing for a fact that most of them preferred sleeping in. "Thanks I guess I'll go try and wake them up," she said turning back down the hall questioning in her head why everyone gt weird when she mentioned Damian.

A door opened on the right and Dysis wandered out. "Dysis! You're alright," Scarlett said rushing over to her. "I was worried, you were ummm, passed out pretty hard the other night. I'm sorry I gave you so much to drink," she looked at the floor, "And I'm sorry I got you to come to my party."

As Scarlett ran over to her with an apologetic rush, Dysis heaved a sigh. "Children will be children I suppose" she replied. Now, when Dysis wants to, she could be the maturest person in the room. And right now was quite a good time to want to.

(if that last sentence even made sense)

"Okay well anyway glad to see you're alright," Scarlett said. She always felt like Dysis didn't really like her, when you were popular people often disliked you for assumptions that a lot of the time weren't even true. Still she had only wanted to get Dysis to let her hair down when she dragged her to the boat party.

Her tummy grumbled again. "I'm going to go check on the others." She knocked on the other doors but neither Joel or Lila were answering. They must be really tired or got up early and weren't in there. She went back to the brother and sister, "No one else is getting up, can we start eating without them? Something smells delicious."

Celeste looked around her makeshift home, which was really just a small wooden shack she made a couple years ago. It was about the size of an average kitchen but she didn't need all that space so she didn't mind, "We're is it?" she thought aloud, trying to find her necklace, her mom gave it to her so she wore it practically everywhere.

She noticed a chain peeking out from under one of her shirts that ran over and grabbed it, sighing in relief before putting it on.

With that she shifted to her snow leopard form, sprinting out the door towards the palace dining hall, it took her about five minutes. Once she got near she shifted back and walked inside, quickly running upstairs and her fancy violin from a small room she kept it in, then she ran back downstairs silently greeting a few guards as she went.

Celeste made her way inside and chose a spot, checking that her violin was in tune quickly then tightening the bow hair and starting to play quietly, it was a nice jig that she played to add some tone to the rather quiet room. Seeing as it would be a tad barbaric to play incredibly loud in a room we're groggy people were eating breakfast didn't seem like a smart plan.

She was playing quite well and she noticed a few watching but she kept bowing over the silky strings humming quietly to the tune.

"Ah of course!" Kalora said as Ceruclean introduced himself. "I suppose I should have known that. Or at least hear your name being mentioned before." She knew the names of at least about half the palace staff. "Well, we should get going now," she told Kael. "If breakfast is ready, we should get there before the good stuff is gone. Plus, we have plenty of things to do after the food." So much things to research... and they could hardly tell anyone. If more people would get involved, they might only bring many people in danger. And if there was anything she didn't want to do, it was bring people in danger she cared about. Or just even only slightly knew. And it would be quite bad if innocent people got hurt or died...

Kalora knew Emberly wouldn't be able to forgive herself if her people would get hurt. And she, as the kingdom's Spymaster wouldn't be able to forgive herself either.

As she walked on towards the large hall, she could hear someone playing a violin. The sound brought a smile on her face. For a moment she seemed to forget her supposed duties as a Spymaster and lost herself in the music. And besides her duties, she seemed to entirely forget about Kael too. Kalora approached the girl with the violin and smiled. "Mind if I join in?" she asked in a hushed voice, as not to disturb her too badly.

Celeste almost got lost in her song, that is until she heard someone talking, she didn't lose her place and kept going as she whispered her response, "Sure, I'm Celeste by the way. Any particular song?"

She loved playing duets so she was excited to see what this girl would like to play. She also noticed that the girl had nearly seemed to float towards the music and Celeste smiled happily waiting for a response.

"Celeste, hm? I've heard your name mentioned before. The rumors of your talent do you no honor," Kalora smiled. "You're better than they said you were. And believe me, I know what I'm talking about. The name's Kalora. I've traveled the lands as a bard for more than a century. One and a half, to be precise." She took her lute from its bag ('cause she carries that with her pretty much all the time), checked whether it was in tune or not, and thought about Celeste's question.

"Do you prefer a duet with two voiced singing, one voiced, or without?" she asked.

"Uh... I can sing too if you want... oh and thanks! " she awkwardly said, it's not that she had stage fright, Celeste just didn't really sing in public to often. She was very happy when she was complimented though, It was one of the nicest things anyone had ever said to her, being alone most of the time she never really got compliments. Either way she was just happy, she started a popular Jig that she was sure Kalora knew and sang quietly, waiting for her to join in too.

"Well then let's hear what you've got. Being passionate is already half the work," Kalora smiled kindly. The girl didn't seem to be new as a musician, but she hadn't seen her around the castle before. Perhaps she was a wanderer like herself? Or maybe she was too shy to perform for crowds? If it was the latter, there certainly wasn't a reason to. But she remembered well how she had been in her earlier days as a bard. Going to new places could be scary, and making contacts could in the beginning be quite hard, but once you found the right people it would all be a lot easier. She joined in in the song Celeste started, singing quietly as well, as to give the people a chance to notice the new girl instead of flocking around her. As a bard, it was important to know when to take a step back to give new people a chance, after all.

It was quite hard to sing well fiddling but she seemed to be doing well, when there was low notes she sang high to give it a unique sound occasionally adding in her own notes to add personality and she noticed a few younger ones Dancing, she laughed a bit then sang louder seeing as younger ones were dancing and a few we're tapping there feet. She loved it when people enjoyed her music, it just made her want to dance too, but she was playing so she decided against it.

Numi wakes up after a long nap in the sun. When did I fall asleep? Oh well, seeing as the Spymaster hasn't come looking for me she must still be busy. Numi proceeds to walk around in order to find where these odd things called humans wound up.

Kalora smiled. No, there was nothing wrong with the level of Celeste's passion for her music. In a way, it really reminded her of herself. She too had trouble standing still when she heard certain kinds of music or certain songs. Kalora liked to hear how the girl added in her own notes, giving the song a twist of her own. A unique twist she wouldn't meddle in, so this would REALLY be Celeste's moment. Several of the people in the room started to dance, a sign of how much they enjoyed listening to the performance. She lost herself so much in the music, that she totally forgot the people she was supposed to speak to today. Numi, Damien, the librarian, Kael... The world was at the moment no bigger than just she and Celesteplaying their music.

She smiled then did a dramatic high note and the song ended, and the room clapped, she nearly dropped her Violin in an excited Jitter, then she shuffled over beside Kalora, "What do I do know." she whispered, Celeste was used to playing alone she didn't exactly perform in front of people on a regular basis. She laughed as a couple people asked for more and pure glee appeared on her face.

"That depends," Kalora smiled. "Are you done performing? Or will you give them more, as they ask? If you're done, you bow. If you're not done... then you go on with playing music." Clearly the girl wasn't used to playing for audiences. A real shame, considering her remarkable talent. Maybe... would she dare...? But the last time Kalora had chosen to do that it-... She hesitated, wanting to ask something but not entirely sure which words she should use, and whether she dared to do so or not. The last time she had taken someone under her wings, said apprentice died. Quite horribly, she might add. And she was afraid of taking that risk again. Especially considering her double life as the kingdom's Spymaster... On the other hand... this girl had talent, and there didn't seem to be a lot for her to learn. Except maybe how to deal with audiences. But that was also something you'd learn by doing. Surely she could give some tips, but the girl would have to learn on her own.

"So, what do you say?" she asked, as to distract herself from her own thoughts. "Play another?"

Azure and Cerulean looked to the gathered humans, assessing their readiness to go to breakfast. Once they all looked ready, they began the walk through the palace to breakfast. Azure escorted them to a table, making sure they were all settled while Cerulean walked confidently to the kitchen, calling out: “Service please!"

With an unamused scowl, Kael decided to keep his eyes forth as she reprimanded him for simply speaking his mind about the ghastly 'speed healing' medicine -or whatever Lady Novah called it. It wasn't said in the sense that he wasn't appreciative of her efforts, nor was he insulting her work in any way. He just could not see why anyone would want to take it with pinkies up, especially after experiencing that nightmarish series of vomiting and hallucinative dreams the other night. Even so, he agreed with Kalora on two things: she did try her best to keep him alive [he evidently made it through the night] and he could stand to show his gratitude... when she calms down about the whole 'Ah! My prince has been murdered' thing, of course. Briefly yielding at the entrance to what he assumed was the kitchen area, Kael knitted his brows as a rough distortion of voices muffled by the closed doors amplified when Kalora opened it. This late into the morning, he would've assumed that everyone had already gone about their days, but it would appear that he was wrong... again. Things worked so differently out here; everything was so fluid and flexible while back home, they were very strict about their schedules and such.

Walking in after Kalora, Kael removed the red band wrapped around his wrist and used it to hold his hair out of his face. There was nothing more tedious than finding hair in your mouth while eating a meal. It wasn't long before the greetings started rolling in and he expected nothing less. Bards usually were very well-liked and seeing as though the castle seemed to be a usual stop for the silver-haired shifter, he only assumed she was already well acquainted with the staff. Michaelis' eyes followed a specific pair of blondes as they were the first to greet Kalora; the male going as far as bowing before her -quite dramatic for his taste, but whatever suited him. He was quickly able to pinch together that disembodied voice he heard earlier at the Prince's door and this boy's. Not that it mattered, but his opinion of him was already determined at this recognition. Upon processing his loutishly dressed sister's [most likely the attire of a field or smithy worker] words, his face involuntarily cringed in confusion.
Humans? Now I know these people are out of their minds. Eyes scanning over the others in the room, absent-mindedly taking note of each of their names, he began to subconsciously fiddle with the charm hung around his neck when his eyes landed on the so-called humans. True, they didn't exactly give off the same aura as these shifters, but from what he knew, Humans were nothing but myths. But then again, a lot of strange things have been happening lately so he didn't completely dismiss the notion of their existence.

Averting his observant gaze when another one of those 'Humans' walked in, this one seemingly in a bad mood despite her misleading morning greet, Kael's brow cocked up as he swiftly looked the dark-haired girl over.
What strange attire. And that stench. Briefly looking back to Kalora as she explained her hurry to get to the dining area, he simply shrugged before giving her a quick nod of approval. He wasn't going to be significantly picky about his food that morning considering he probably wouldn't be able to take much in. That medicine had taken its toll and in spite of his calm demeanor, he wasn't feeling his best. A small bowl of soup and sourdough would do for now. "Alright, I'll meet you there in a bit." Kalora didn't seem to pay much attention to his dismissal, but he didn't mind too much. They were all headed in the same direction anyway and it didn't seem like anyone was in any particular sense of panic in his presence, so all was well. Shifting his attention back over to the other four [the two human females engaged in a conversation of their own and the siblings seeming about ready to part for the dining room soon] he picked himself a grape from a bushel hanging from a bowl hidden in an open cabinet.

Party. What exactly were they yammering about? "Humans as the Queen's guests, who would've predicted the day?" He muttered nonchalantly, more to himself than to anyone else, before popping the grape into his mouth, eyeing the siblings as if asking for an explanation. With piqued interest, Michaelis found an opportunity to inquire about these strange Human terms when the one called 'Scarlett' disappeared to call upon her friends. "Party? What is this 'Party' you speak of? And why had you 'passed out' during it?" He spoke sternly and unabashed by his abrupt interjection as the group was signalled to follow the siblings to breakfast. You could say he craved knowledge of foreign beings, so much so that he didn't find it strange when he approached complete strangers with his questions. Realising that he hadn't even introduced himself -not that he thought it was necessary if Kalora hadn't bothered speaking for him- Kael made a quick welcoming gesture and leaned against a large stack of burlap sacks. "Ah...sorry. My name is Michaelis Saev-- just Michaelis." He chimed, opting on leaving his last name out. If worst came to worst and the Queen announced the death of her son and pinned it on his brother, he didn't want to be associated with it.

Azure looked up as the elf spoke. He had been with Kalora, but had chosen to stay with them when she left before them. “A party is a celebration of some sort, but without something to celebrate. From what Ive gathered, the humans get together and drink some kind of strong ale until they are either unconscious or making entirely bad decisions." Her explanation was given in a dry, almost humored way, as if she was amused by the humans behavior. He intruduced himself, drawing a quick, questioning look from Azure. She had assumed that his name would be given by Kalora if it was needed. “Im Azure. Blacksmith down in the village. With us before was my brother, Cerulean. Hes the head chef." She said, with a small smirk as she added her brother's occupation. “Youre an elf?" She asked, taking his previous unbridled questions as signal she could ask her own.

(Wish I could match your post, but Im at work.)

As Scarlett made her way to the kitchen she spied a small table with paper and ink. Someone must have been about to write a letter, she looked around and didn't see anyone paying attention to her. The ink wouldn't be helpful but that paper would be perfect. She quickly took the paper and reached in her pocket to get out a small pencil, forgetting about how hungry she was she sat down and began to sketch.

She drew half of Damian's face and then half a wolf face next to it. Next she drew a leopard, like the one that attacked them last night and the man's face before he turned into the giant cat. Scarlett looked up but everyone seemed to be doing other things so she kept going. She drew the guy that came in with Damian's friend, he was different than the rest in the way he carried himself like he was superior to everyone here. Underneath his picture she wrote 'Elf,' that's what the nice girl had said. Last she drew their Queen beautiful and powerful with piercing eyes. Underneath her picture she wrote 'Be careful!' The last thing she wanted to do was upset that woman who she was pretty sure considered having them killed.

The one that stood out the most to her was the leopard guy, but she would probably never forget the sight of a leopard about to rip her face off. She signed her name at the bottom a little sad that there wasn't room on the page for more.

Looking to the one who had spoke and introduced his name as Michaelis. He avoided a last name, and it was obvious as well. "Name's Dysis" she replied to him in a slightly annoyed tone. Following for breakfast, she continued "The party you ask about was how we ended up hear. And most of us passed out because unlike you, we humans have quite a low tolerances for liquor." Turning to Azure she commented "mind letting one of us explain? Thanks" It was obvious that there was a stick shoved up her arse. And besides being in a differ et dimension with people who act like their all high and mighty, there wasn't much else that could ram it further. Running her left hand through her tangled hair, Dysis reminded herself to ask about bathing. Looking to her right prosthetic, she began to mess with gears and such. The damn thing was waterlogged and the wires that connected the nerves to the base most likely needed replacing.

"Oh, right, about that. I don't have any type of money." Lucas chuckled while scratching his head. He'd completely forgot that he was broke. "Well, looks like we can just stare at the food." Lucas laughed then took a closer look at Jacob. Trying to be observant, he looked at him curiously, he could tell something was bothering him. "I'm sorry, we never did introduce our names... My name is Lucas, what about you? And, is there something bothering you?" He was quite surprised that he never noticed when he first met him. But, lack of sleep and hearing that there was a scream might shift priorities.
Jacob chuckled as he ruffled his hair to make it at least a bit tidier. "Nice to meet you Lucas. Name's Jacob. You can call me Jake, Jack, or Jacob, but not Smoker." He said with a smirk as he walked along side him. "And yes, there is something bothering me. I don't know where I am, who anyone is, why I'm here, and what I'm supposed to do. I'm also almost out of cigarettes and that something no one wants to see happen." He said curtly as they reached the market. "I'm sorry if I came off as rude...I'm not stable until I've had a couple of hits, if not coffee." He said a bit embarresed.
