Name: Tatie Adderley

Age: 20, June 28th

Gender: Male

Height: 6'4"

Eyes: Red

Hair: Dark blue. His hair is windblown and messy, most of which is swept back while a few sections favor his face. Toward the back, he has a long rattail that's held tightly by a long, golden cuff as the hair reaches midway down his back.

Physique: Strapping and broad-shouldered. Athletic.

Personality: Tatie is a cocky, out-going, and a rather upbeat character despite his temperament. He listens when someone is talking to him but is also quick to interrupt when something comes to mind. He's not super dark, but he isn't super peppy. He is either or, bouncing between both depending on the circumstance. He'll stand up for you, but he'll stand against you. Tatie is all about energy and staying on the move. He likes to have fun.

Story: "Ninja Gangsters" is an unfinished story about four districts within a massive city called Omen. Each of these districts apart from the fifth, which is located at the very center of the city, is home to a renowned gang whose members all possess their own unique 'chi abilities'. There is the West--home to the Red Spectres and formerly titled the King District until it met devastation at the hands of a massive flood that nearly wiped its population. There is the North--a sleepless, thriving district touched by riches beyond imagination and home to the White Tigers, also nearing the title of King District. There is the East of the Blue Dragons, a gang that is valued by its community for their provided protection. Lastly, there is the South that is home to the Black Cobras, a sickly group of murderous lowlifes. Tatie is a middle-ranked member of the Blue Dragons who is loyal to his team but tends to ask too many questions. His abilities serve useful by the situation, so he doesn't make many appearances in the story as of how it is currently written by Marcus. So far, he appears with a bang at four major points in the story near the end of some messy fights but he's always looking for something more to make himself useful.

Abilities: Tatie has the ability of being able to control the temperature of his body from -320 degrees to +350 degrees Fahrenheit. In his book, this is called his chi ability and his alias is Bipolar. Though this is true, there are ways that he can bypass his natural limits by maintaining contact with anything above or below his controlled temperatures. For example, if he touches something below -320, then his body will begin to mimic that temperature. However, this can be harmful if exposure is prolonged. Tatie's emotions may also interfere with his control over his abilities--heat representing anger and cold representing sadness or any other emotions in relation.

Extra/Quirks:
* In the Ninja Gangsters story, Tatie is supposed to die by saving the leader of the White Tigers.

* Tatie fights with a paintball gun and wears a mask to match it in his story, in which real guns seem to not exist. All of the characters fight with blunt weapons or blades and such.

* Tatie's eyes twitch when he's conflicted or confused over something, as well as when he's frustrated.

FLEUR
DEMI-DRYAD
PERSONALITY
Fleur is an interesting individual. Depending on the circumstances, she may change her personality to fit the situation accordingly. Therefore many individuals have drastically differing opinions of the woman, some extremely positive, yet some extremely negative.

Fleur, to speak very simply, is a driven individual. Persistent and dedicated to her work, she seems to overachieve in any task she's given—striving to reach the top and to surpass the greater majority. In addition, she tends to overthink situations, the smallest tasks given to her could be upscaled to large, extravagant quests in her mind. This level of overthinking could be positively thought of as a meticulous mindset, however it could also be negatively thought as her simply being a worrywart over the smallest issues. Due to this combination of both an ego and need to surpass others and her meticulous way of handling situations, she has a great distaste when faced with inefficiency. Fleur consistently demands for a perfect performance from others, though this high expectations of others is an obvious double standard when considering herself. While she puts others to a high standard, she often lowers the bar for herself. Still rather hardworking, Fleur tends to be more lax and forgiving when she herself has gotten into a lazy slump.

A rather energetic woman, Fleur tends to be a social butterfly when out of work. She is an excellent friend, and often an extremely helpful one at that. She enjoys all forms on human and non-human interaction, and she's often known for her extremely large friend circle. While often rather energetic and always on the move when around others, during times of leisure Fleur can be rather different. Her movement seems to slow and she becomes more lax. And while in a work environment she expects great things from others, these expectations are forgotten about when outside of activities or work. However, Fleur without exposure to sunlight is perhaps the worst version of Fleur.

Without such exposure, it is the equivalent to a man without any sleep. She tends to be extremely restless, possessing huge mood swings that often cause her to lash out at those around her. While she attempts to spend more time outside to avoid this, Fleur often cheats herself and stays indoors for a few days, leading to catastrophic events.

STORY
Within the book "Vanilla Bite" it is a collection of short stories involving the same cast of protagonists, alongside the same location. The book takes place within a café of the same name, where two protagonists involve themselves in various amusing situations on their regular shift in an irregular café. The irregular aspect is due to the clientele and the staff, as both parties are typically made up of mythical or fictional beings. Fleur is not excluded from this, as she herself is a demi-dryad. While there is no central plot to the book, it serves as mostly a slice-of-life timekiller, formatted in order for a short story to be read quickly in one sitting, before setting down the book and reading once again.

ABILITIES
[De-Accelerated Aging] - Similarly to a tree, Fleur possesses an extremely slow aging process after her teenage years. Upon reaching a relative physical maturity, her aging process is slowed drastically, with fellow relatives of the dryad living centuries.
[Animal Tongue] - This ability essentially gives Fleur the capabilities to speak with animals. However, while this may seem like a positive, this is often a detriment to Fleur's daily life. While anyone else would ignore the constant sounds of animals, as Fleur can interpret what they're speaking, it's often hard to ignore such noise.
[Demi-Dryad Physiology] - As a demi-dryad Fleur is practically one with the trees. She possesses an ability to bend plants to her will and manipulate and shape them, imbuing additional properties to them as well. She additionally possesses a natural immunity to most toxins. However, this physiology possesses its shortcomings, as she has an extreme natural dependency on sunlight. While this could mean that if she were outside for extended periods of time, Fleur would possess a large amount of energy to continue her day. However, conversely if she were inside for an extended period of time, she would barely have any energy to finish the day. In addition, she possesses an extreme hypersensitivity to flames and greenhouse gasses.

QUICKS/EXTRAS
- Fleur is a self-described "social eater", eating only when alongside others as it is not her primary source of energy.

Marcus Yu Carucci
eb75fb735a48a7b8365ab55d9edcc78b.jpgName: Marcus Yu Carucci

Age: 23

Birthday: October 16th

Gender: Male

Height: 5'11"

Eyes: Dark Brown

Hair: Naturally black, he tends to keep it lightened to a medium golden brown

Physique: Slim, runner's body.

Personality: Reserved, creative, and anxious. He is often mistaken as either shy or snobby, but in reality, he is often just lost in his own daydreams. He has a tendency to obsess over a subject intensely for weeks when writing, only to drop it when a new idea comes along. A lot of people consider him flaky or noncommittal, causing him to not have any long-time or close friends, but he is often just so preoccupied with new ideas that he forgot he had made plans or promises with other people.

Quirks: Marcus has the tendency to drift from project to project, which is why he is currently in the middle of writing three separate novels. He uses a large blackboard in his bedroom to jot down notes and ideas he gets during the day.

Extra: Marcus has worked at the same gaming store since he was 15; he is now the night-shift manager. The job pays enough for him to be able to afford half of his rent and the utilities, as he lives in a small, two-bedroom apartment. His last roommate moved out a week and a half ago and he has recently put up ads online looking for a new one. He is one of four adopted children in his family, with two younger twin sisters from Cambodia (aged 16) and an older brother from Uganda (aged 25.) He, himself, is originally from China.

Edin02.jpg

appearance

Height: 5’10” | 178cm
Eyes: Amber
Hair: Dark Brown
Physique: Fit but Lean

In the past and even in the present, many agree that Edin’s positive traits seemed to have focused on fixing themselves on a superficial level. With his straight posture, fair height, and visage of fine proportions, it’s clear that his sister’s commentary that he’d be rather well-liked if he’d just stay quiet isn’t quite groundless. Instead, his appearance in conjunction with his poor social aptitude provokes accusations of his successes being attributed solely to having “a pretty face.”

Yet in strict contrast to said handsome features, just about everything else about him bears evidence of a lack of care for how he appears in the eyes of others. Courtesy of his sister Mira, he sports an asymmetrical hairstyle with chestnut brown locks clipped at his chin on the right while left to trail down his neck on the left, and his attire is formal wear generally donned in an inappropriately casual manner, not to mention a black choker (also courtesy of Mira) almost always being present on his neck. Despite his wearing the Edelweiss uniform like any other member of the project, the blazer is typically seen loosely draped around his shoulders—if he’s even wearing it at all—and his shirt is always left untucked, much to the chagrin of superiors. To his credit, his clothes are at least kept ironed neatly.

Edin03.jpg

personality

It takes few words spoken for one to ascertain that Edin is a tragic waste of a pretty face. A genius who fully recognizes his own brilliance, he speaks in phrases that show sophistication yet never without the company of crude remarks. Compliments come as rare as blue diamonds, and even if friendship manages to bloom past his antagonizing, he still wouldn’t be saved from being told that his relationships would be less rocky if he’d just keep his mouth shut for ten seconds. However, his brutality stems not from sheer arrogance but a lack of observation towards common social etiquette.

As he grew up a subject of pity by his adoptive parents while revered as a prodigy by his peers, Edin lived his life pampered and seldom scolded, resulting in a bit of a spoiled personality. Though he doesn’t squander his attention on materialism, his moral compass, at times, appears to be skewed, and he has little aptitude for reading the mood. In a nutshell, a lack of proper childhood discipline led to the development of a complex of sorts, one where he believes that only his methods are “the right” choice and that the ends justifies the means. He is, after all, a genius, and there are few and far between capable of refuting his claims. Other than his sister that is. Even then, he isn’t quite so readily receptive of her chidings, frequently questioning her motives such as why he should “make an effort to be nicer”, all dictated in a matter-of-factly manner. Consequently, Edin’s own shortcomings are riddled with excuses. A self-proclaimed man of science, he knows not the harshness of the wilderness and is quick to dismiss things like war as barbaric, further isolating him from those who see him as a hypocritical man who supposedly sparked a war in spite of his words.

At the same time, that aloof demeanor is a resultant of a persona that is as jaded as it is spoiled: Optimism is not his strong point, especially in regards to a subject called people.

Edin himself is fully aware that his biting words and nasty personality are as effective as the world's best bug repellant. With nerves beaten black and blue by insults and slander, he returns others’ spite with a cold gaze, and his dismissive behavior is as if he’s allergic to humanity itself. He bears a hidden refusal to be betrayed and rejects any displays of affection, because life itself is fleeting, and bonds are just as evanescent. For humanity exists only to leave others behind. However, this natural suspicion towards others also makes dealing with the intensely earnest types as well as following their example his weakness. Like an angry cat, perhaps.

story

Plot: Abstract Dualism.

Awe and Fear. Both are essentially the same term, separated only by being placed into positive versus negative contexts. A major theme in the book Abstract Dualism, the plot of that book was scripted to center around the sudden surge of those born with abnormal abilities in a highly futuristic country named Arland. Caught off guard by this phenomenon, the advanced technology of Arland did little to manage the abilities of ability holders, and the country soon began its deterioration into a lawless state.

Amidst the chaos, the government funded a program titled Project Edelweiss. Through experimentation on various ability holders, the team of researchers successfully developed a device that could completely suppress the usage of abilities. However, as if bitter about past grievances, the government was quick to strip ability holders of their rights. Enraged at the experimentation on ability holders and the poor treatment of their kind which followed, a rebel group was soon formed, and a long war began.

After struggling for half a decade, several near-death experiences, and even a betrayal by a dear friend, the hero and protagonist of the book, Dale Lowen, successfully slew the mastermind behind the entire plot and set up various programs to bring order back to his beloved country.

Character: Edin Lelorance.

The head of Project Edelweiss and the scientist responsible for the creation of ability regulator devices. Though he did not play a major role in the beginning chapters of the book, he eventually became the primary antagonist of Abstract Dualism.

After The Arland Civil War began, Edin took on the alias Reille Boulevardier and infiltrated the ranks of the Rebel Army of ability holders, where he eventually came to befriend Dale Lowen, the protagonist, and advised him on several matters. To Dale’s disbelief, Edin betrayed the rebels by tricking and cruelly murdering some of their key members, and he later went on to orchestrate a plot to seize Arland’s government. The novel ends with Dale killing Edin with his own hands and peace finally returning upon his death, though Dale himself was written to question why Edin had done what he did. However, because his motives were meant to be laid out in an epilogue that was never written, his thoughts were never revealed in the end.

In truth, Edin’s actions were written as such in order to clean up and explain certain small though crucial plot points as a pseudo antagonist.

As he and his older sister were required to hide the fact that they were ability holders, he and Mira grew up with the hopes of calming the fears running rampant throughout their country. This childish wish of “saving the world” eventually manifested as Project Edelweiss. Unfortunately, as mere seventeen-year-olds, though geniuses in their own right, Edin had not had the foresight to realize that the government would exploit their invention.

Nevertheless determined to right his own wrongs, Edin joined the rebel ability holders under an alias. However, he was fully knowing of the fact that him merely existing as the person who gave humans the ability to suppress ability holders was unforgivable to most, and his plans to end the entire scheme included his own death. As such, he vowed to take down as many problems as he could in order to restore the balance of the country.

First, he determined that Dale Lowen was someone he could trust to clean up the aftermath of the war and lead the country to an era of peace. Next, he worked on ensuring any power hungry ability holders who had only joined with greed-driven motivations were thoroughly eradicated. The finale was to set the stage for his death while simultaneously adding to the hero’s achievements, which was fulfilled by pretending to be someone who had deviously planned to take over the country, prompting Dale, the chosen hero, to execute him.

At the time of his death, he was satisfied with the end result. The war had at last been put to a stop, and he was sure he could entrust the country to Dale. His one regret, however, was his sister’s death, a sacrifice which he felt had no meaning. As such, his one demand towards his writer is for a future in which his sister lives on.

abilities

Overclock. Contrary to public opinion, the very first test subject for ability regulatory devices (maliciously dubbed as suppressors or “collars” by the public) was Edin himself. Of course, for no one to notice that he had an ability at all, his was as simple as they came. Classified as a Rank D ability, his ability is simple and stable, though still extremely useful due to the synergistic effect it had with his superior intelligence..

As for the ability itself, Overclocking is like what its name suggests: it increases the rate at which Edin can process information by severalfold. While he can’t force his body to move as fast as his mind is, it does give the leverage of cutting down on the time taken to organize and process data. Even a full-length novel can be finished in mere minutes. However, overuse can lead to a severe migraines, so he tends not to abuse it as people might expect.

Intelligence. With a high IQ to make up for his abysmal EQ, Edin has a natural knack for thinking. Even in the futuristic setting he hails from, he was considered a genius among geniuses, though an evil one at that. That said, he isn’t likely to impart his futuristic knowledge upon the human world. Having witnessed the breakdown of his own country, he isn’t prepared to disrupt the balance of a world that should not have technology such as teleportation (at least not yet). In the first place, he isn’t entirely sure if his theories will still apply to this world. For all he knows, it’s entirely possible that the logic of his world was adapted to support the ideas written in the original novel.

Iron Stomach. Though it’s more of a resistance built up due to a series of unfortunate events rather than an ability, Edin is capable of eating and keeping down just about anything. The cause? Mira’s cooking often gave him food poisoning. Ironically, Edin himself is actually a good cook.

Edin06.jpg

extras

One. He was adopted into Mira’s family due to his parents having gone missing during an ability holder’s rampage when he was five. Even at the end of the novel, he never found his biological family.

Two. The Regulators given to ability holders who are ordinary civilians actually have levels of suppression. This function was designed to help those with unstable abilities learn to control them in a safe way. They were also later crafted as various accessories, since Edin and Mira believed that “collars” were a bit demeaning as well as uncomfortable.

Three. Since his ability was classified as a Rank D ability and stable, Edin actually was not required to wear a regulatory device and only did so out of courtesy. His Regulator was specially created and given to him by Mira and vice versa. Mira was given an earring while Edin was given one in the form of a choker due to his sister’s stubbornness on giving him the very first one that she created aka the prototype…

Four. Not only does Edin have an allergy to intimate social interactions but also a severe pollen allergy. In fact, he dislikes real physical flowers and goes as far as to refer to pollen as “plant sperm”. At one point, someone attempted to make peace with him by leaving him a small vase of flowers on his desk...he thought it was harassment.

Five. Edin describes his sister to be “someone who can spout all sorts of crap with a smile on her face”. Though he’ll never admit it, it’s plainly clear that he has a slight phobia of Mira, and the reason why he has trouble saying no to any of her requests has less to do with being soft on her and more to do with the fact that she has a bit of a sadistic streak.
