I am trying to make an interest check and the bbcode code template has link for lore. What does it mean by that?

It's information on the lore, setting, mechanics and general info that isn't directly pertaining to the focus of the story (premise) but to the context of it. You probably won't need it unless you're making a group roleplay or your 1x1 thread only has one setting. Otherwise it's best to leave the lore for a latter discussion.
In case you are making a group roleplay though, that kind of thing is to give access to the lore for anyone who is curious/interested enough to look deeper into things about your setting, or for whom that setting could be a deciding factor in whether to join, without dumping that lore in main interest check potentially killing a lot of interest with a wall of text.
