Elijah has an inborn sense of morality, an idealist at heart. Though soft spoken, he has very strong opinions and if pressed will fight to the bone to uphold them. He keeps a distance between himself and most people which gives him the reputation of being cold or shy. In actuality, if spoken to, he is extremely warm and friendly, while occasionally a bit awkward. He finds people fascinating, and love to engage in all sorts of conversation. He truly loves people, but he needs time to recharge. Often he gets in over his head and withdraws somewhat suddenly into himself and his journal.

Elijah is intrinsically creative, turning to his writing as a method of expression as opposed to his words. For him, art is never empty, and often one can find his feelings made concrete. Often, for the sake of his morals and what he believes in, he drives himself too far and loses himself in stress. His temper draws short and he can't take watch of his emotions too well.

Elijah was always the more quiet and hesitant twin, often waiting until Archer had done something before he tries it out. In recent years he has gotten over his fears a good bit, but on some level he still harbors a slight anxiety at trying new things.

History:
Elijah grew up in Toronto with his family as Skye the younger identical twin (by seven minutes). Ever since he was little, he was very quiet and shy, simply pleased to follow his sister where ever she brought him or stay tucked behind his mother's skirt. When he was little he had a very vivid imagination and would often play pretend (often playing the boy roles as much as he could). Ever since he was in preschool, he knew and said he was a boy, but it was mostly interpreted as his imagination. His childhood make believe both helped credit and discredit his identity. Since he had such a strong pull to male characters, it made sense that that was why he played them, yet playing pretend instead of participating in sports and such like his sister seemed to contradict it.

Even with his identity difficulties, Elijah usually got along with his classmates, mostly hanging out with the typically nerdy students. He was generally seen as reliable and a nice conversation partner, though he did face a fair bit of teasing when he came out near the end of middle school, but his school was mostly openminded and the fuss died down. During that time of vague ostracization, Elijah took up writing in earnest. Writing became his outlet to express what he sometimes had too hard of a time expressing. His dream of becoming an author drew to the forefront. He decided to help lead a Storytelling kids camp at his old elementary school. Elijah loved the story telling basics that he helped teach and things like that, but what he didn't expect to enjoy so much was the actual teaching of the kids themselves. He then decided to pursue teaching as his future career.

Elijah loved his high school and the friends he made there. He involved himself in Tech Theatre and the Creative Writing Club and loved being a part of a group of people similar to him. Though, the group that took the cake was the Library Assistants. Early on in freshman year, he was approached by the librarian who invited him to join the team since he had checked out seven books in close succession. He agreed, and there met his best friends he'd ever had. He never thought he'd have to say goodbye so soon.

Personality

General Description | One might attribute Javier's behavior as that of a wounded puppy. In any and all social situations, he's very quiet, attempting to bring as little attention to himself as possible, almost as if he's trying to protect himself against outside view. He opens up to his family--those he's known long enough to know they mean him no harm, but is still relatively soft-spoken. In keeping a lot to himself, he is very self-punishing. It is obvious to those who know him that he holds himself to an obscenely high-standard, and his self-loathing is very pronounced, no matter how hard he attempts to hide it.
As a whole, Javier is very skittish, seemingly frightened of meeting new people and being in unfamiliar environments. That being said, he's been noticeably on-edge ever since the family moved, relying on his adopted siblings much more than before. However, his desire to not be a burden to those around him has lead to self-isolation in the weeks since their move.
Hidden behind all his insecurities, Javier has a bit of a temper, thought it is typically volatile and misdirected. He himself is typically the number one target for his own aggression.
He is absolutely prone to apologizing for things he has no business apologizing for, which may get on other peoples' nerves.

Javier was a part of the foster system for as long as he can remember. For the majority of his childhood, he was placed with a rather unpleasant family, one who took in foster children for the financial benefits but treated them rather poorly. When he was not being inappropriately left to care from himself, he was being berated--yelled at and threatened because of his so-called misbehavior. Because of this, it is obvious where a lot of his insecurities stem from. This was his life until about age twelve, when the "loving couple" was exposed for their mistreatment and he was rehoused, this time with the Callahans.
Though he was awful timid and afraid to make any sort of misstep, he eventually came to realize that this family was one that actually cared about him, and he was able to open up to them, if just a little bit at first. After a few months with them, he was eventually adopted, feeling the most loved and appreciated that he had ever felt in his entire life. While the effects of his upbringing remained, lurking in the shadows, he has been thriving to the best of his ability ever since joining the family, holding on to the relationships he built with his mother and siblings as if they were his life-lines.

Employment | In Toronto, he was able to get part-time work at a bookstore, sometimes even performing at open-mic nights in the area, but has been a bit too afraid of his new surroundings to search for something like that here.

Friends | It takes a lot for Javier to open up to other people, so while he does not have much in the way of actually "friend" interactions, he views his siblings as the next-best thing.

Enemies | Because of his past, he is particularly frightened of any older man with authority over him. Because of this, he was never able to become as close to the Callahan's now absent father, which he could tell was a bit frustrating to the man.

[/div] [div class=post] [div class=title]PERSONALITY[/div] At first glance, Evan is a bright and charismatic individual. There is a magnetic attraction about him that makes him look approachable, and many find it easy to open up to him, so friends are definitely not something he's lacking in.

Evan has a blithe attitude to most things, being the type of person that gives it his all or nothing, so for him to be motivated enough to do anything, it has to pique his interest first - and then hold it long enough for him to finish what he started. As you can imagine, he's the bane of a lot of teacher's annoyance; he possesses the intelligence but no drive to apply himself.

Despite this, he can be very opinionated and obstinate when it comes to his beliefs, reluctant to change the way he thinks unless heavily persuaded. As such, Evan has no qualms about saying exactly what's on his mind, so at times he can come across as a little blunt.

If you're perceptive enough, underneath all the smiles and laughter, you would notice that there's something undeniably dangerous about him. Hidden behind the kind eyes is a broiling fury unknown to man. Fiery, tempting... and waiting to explode, to dominate, like every fibre of his being is aching for him to do.

Anger is not an emotion that Evan usually expresses - and for good reason too. However, there have been occasions where things have been taken too far. The Seven Deadly Sins.

The Seven Demon Clans.

For aeons, some demons have been living in relative peace on the mortal plane, their powers waning as they strayed further from their underworld roots; a sacrifice they had to make when they abandoned their homeland.

Life had been simple... or at least until they began to surface. They've been called many things throughout history: sorcerers, enchantresses, wizards, witches, warlocks, mages... but to the demons, they were simply known as the Magi. And they were a threat. An enemy.

In the darker ages, some poor fool had discovered ancient blood and sacrificial rituals that would supposedly summon a demonic warrior. They weren't wrong, but rather than summoning the Demons of Hell, those from the Seven Clans were caught in the crossfire. After all, any good summoner would know that the farther the dimension, the more magical essence it would take - so the Seven Clan demons became the next best thing, and after a few successful summons, their existence was now known to the supernatural world on the mortal plane.

Summoning demons had been extremely frowned upon in the Magi community. It was dangerous; the rituals were too complex and could easily cost the summoner their life. That was until Grandmaster Percival II stumbled across the Libro Nomina - otherwise known as the Book of Names.

The book is an ancient artefact that was thought to be lost in time, and it being found was going to end up doing more harm than good. The Libro Nomina recorded the True Name of every mortal plane demon in existence and Grandmaster Percival II soon realised that knowing a demon's True Name was the missing piece. Safer summoning spells could be used if the summoner knew the True Name of the demon that they were trying to summon. This did not come without a cost for the demons. A demon's True Name is a sacred part of themselves that mustn't be shared with anyone outside of their clan because it leaves them extremely vulnerable.

Outraged, the demons protested that True Name Summoning violated their right to freedom, whereas the Magi disagreed, saying that it would be a beneficial relationship for both parties. It wasn't a surprise that the Great Magus-Daemon War ensued, lasting for centuries. Despite having the Book of Names in their possession, the Magi were unable to use it to their advantage as the Seven Demon Clans had already activated their own primordial ritual that would return them to full power, unlocking a form that had been sealed away for the greater good the moment they stepped foot on the mortal plane. They had brought back the Awakening.

At some stage in their extended lifespans (usually before they reached full maturity) a demon would go through the Awakening, a process that unleashed their primal nature. They would shed their human skin and take on a form that should only belong in the horrors of nightmares. Whilst in this state, they were impervious to the summoning call as it would require closer contact and purposeful intent to bond a demon in their Awakened state.

Although the demons had an edge, they were still vastly outnumbered and no war can last forever. Eventually, the demons were forced to surrender as the casualties began to climb higher and higher.

The Magi promised that the summoning bonds would be based on an equal partnership between the two species. They would be treated fairly and only qualified summoners would be able to perform the summoning spell. However, in return, all demons would need to be bonded with a magus before they reached their Awakened state because without it being stabilised with a magus' core, the Awakened demon could all too easily go on a feral rampage.

This condition was reluctantly agreed to by the demon leaders - sparking a divide of opinion across the Seven Clans. Some vehemently disagreed with the decision and fled their communities to take refuge in secluded areas across the world, on the run from being forced into a life they didn't want.

Evan Wylkes was born to two demon renegades in a little village in rural Wiltshire, England. On the day he turned six, a metal band had been secured around his left wrist and somewhere in the world, the name Azruel was erased from the Libro Nomina.

Around this time, the Union had been established - an organisation made up of magus and demon pairs that dealt with tasks handed to them from the Bureau of Magus-Demon Affairs. Such assignments usually consisted of overseeing events at the School of Summoning, settling disputes, ensuring that qualified Magi are adhering to the Summoner's Code and most importantly... hunting down renegades and other demons who are yet to Awaken.

Evans' parents knew that the Union was actively seeking them out - their efforts doubled when they caught wind of Evans' birth. So they did what they had to do. When Evan was only eight years old, he was secretly sent off to live with a friend in Oswego Valley where they were sure he would be safe.

He has been living in the community ever since, but he remains a curious mystery to many - the others know that he's not human (since all supernatural creatures have a sixth sense for that sort of thing) but they don't know what he actually is and Evans has always had a tendency to sidestep the inquiries or outrightly refuse to answer.
