So began the end times for the students of Eastwood High.

In the midst of the chaos, nine students—Alex, Esmeé, Jamarus, Kathrine, Kaylee, Naomi, Persephone, Rosemary, and Topher—had manage to flee, taking shelter within the Teacher's Lounge. Their retreat, however, had not been left unnoticed by their now unliving peers, who had been hot on their heels, eager to gnaw at the flesh of the living. The lust consumed what was once human; their rage uncontrolled and unrelenting, stopping short of nothing as they banged on the lounge door, desperately trying to get inside. Besides the incessant banging, the only other sounds would be guttural growls of the undead and the screams of the dying.

Thankfully, it was clear that no one else would have to die, at least for the time being. Some of the students wisened up, realizing the danger that was outside. Pushing a large table against the door, they tossed whatever else they could find—chairs, metal stands and other miscellaneous objects—onto the makeshift barricade. Though there was no clear way of telling if it would hold, the infected eventually dispersed, seemingly aware that they could not get in.

Nonetheless, with the dead gone, there laid a choice before the students. What were they to do now? Their only exit was now blocked off, as the windows in the school were sealed shut. Between the nine of them, too, was only the bare minimum of supplies—some break room treats, coffee and water to name a few.

No longer controlled by the whims of their teachers, their fates were now in their hands. If they wanted to survive, they would have to venture into the territory of the damned, risking their lives either attempting to escape or to get more supplies for the group.

Fitz
Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion

Rosemary Fitzgerald stood against a nearby wall, her arms crossed as she started to unpack everything that had happened since.. the incident.

Before everyone started getting sick and the school went into lockdown, Fitz had remained at the top of the ladder. Between her status as the Captain of the Softball Team and the Head Cheerleader, she honestly kept herself pretty busy. Most people didn’t even understand how she could simultaneously do both and on top of that maintain her social cliques. What made everything worse was that Fitz had planned for a class trip to Aspen that she had figured out and financed through some, well, dubious methods. After that, she was ready for college so she could prepare for her future as not just a high school athlete but a university-level one. But sitting in an auditorium with a disease crisis lingering outside ruined all that. It made it worse when the disease crisis turned into a horror movie crisis.

But at least she found a way to escape what came next after one of her friends decided to make things exponentially worse. Fitz knew her from cheerleading, though she could never anticipate she would let her social anxieties lead to where it did.

After surviving the auditorium, Fitz and a handful of other students grouped up in the chaos before they boarded up in the Teacher's Lounge. She wasn't sure how long they could even survive in a room with locked windows and low amounts of food. It was only a matter of time before everyone got too hot, too scared, or too hungry to function. Worst of all things, nobody's phone could get a signal from the damn room, so it was a little difficult to get outside help; not that there was much help to be found after being boarded up in the school for as long as they were. However, despite the circumstances, Fitz tried to remain the same as ever--irreverent, fearless, and alpha. Maybe her appearing to not lose her shit could inspire the rest to do the same. It was all she was useful for right now, as far as she could tell.

“So what’s the plan?” She commented as she looked over in Jamarus's direction.

The sound of running water and furious scrubbing filled the room. Jamarus was standing by the sink cursing quietly under his breath. He was hunched over and had both shoes off. One was sitting on the counter beside him and the other was in his hand. The teen was currently using a sponge to scrub at a streak of red that was staining the shoe. "Mother fucker bled on my Kobe's man..." He cursed again and recounted the events leading to how he got into this room.

When the chaos had started at the gym Jamarus had honestly thought it was just some restless kids. He'd nearly joined in the mayhem, thinking it was just going to be a riot. That was until he saw chunks of flesh being ripped off the other kids. He had been in a group with the other sports guys when Brad got chomped. Jamarus had grabbed the bat Brad was carrying around and tried to get the attacker off but it didn't work. The kid didn't even budge after Jamarus got in two solid whacks. The basketball star had no choice but to leave his friend and start running with how many people were swarming in. The jocks had been one of the last ones to high tail it out of the gymnasium. By the time they decided to leave there were already those freaks everywhere. Even so they fled through the halls and were nearly out the doors to outside when four or five of the things came running at them.

For better or worse Jamarus and all the others split up at that point. In his rush J had run into a dead end and could still hear the footsteps behind him. He spun around and saw that it was only one. The jock was still carrying the baseball bat and had very few options with the thing running at him. He cocked the bat back and cracked it across the attacker's face. "Yeah bitch!" He taunted the person thinking that it was all over. Surely that hit was enough to knock anyone out. When the thing started getting back up Jamarus was filled with adrenaline and hit the thing in the head with a golf swing. For good measure he brought his bat onto the thing's head one more time and a sickening crack erupted from it's skull. Blood spurted out and splattered all over his shoes. "Oh you did not just do that bruh!" Jamarus reared back to hit the thing again just for pissing him off but the sound of footsteps forced him to run for safety.

The cannibal assholes seemed to be everywhere when he got back into the hallway proper. He saw a few people run into the teacher's lounge and with no other options he ran in behind them. With the adrenaline still pumping he helped barricading the door. Even as they did he couldn't help but think this wasn't really the best idea. They were going to have to get out of here at some point and the situation was only going to get worse outside. One problem at a time. Once the door was safely secured he ran over to the sink and started cleaning his shoes. The blood had already started to dry. He left the bloodied bat on the counter next to him.

A voice snapped J out of his thoughts and he looked over his shoulder. He was surprised to see a friendly face in the chaos. "Plan? I have no idea. We can't stay in here forever though." With everyone still in shock they couldn't just run out. Jamarus scanned the room looking for anyone that might know what was going on. There were a few friendly faces, some he didn't know, some he knew didn't like him. "Ay Gopher. You're smart. What the fuck is going on out there huh?" With his shoes clean he left them to dry on the counter. The athlete hopped up onto the counter and looked at the nerd he'd screwed with countless times.

Naomi Wilkinson

Naomi has been on the phone with her brother when it had all happened. She had mentally patted herself on the back for remembering to bring her portable charger for her phone. It was almost funny, he had been telling her to stay calm and wait for him to come and pick her up when she had witnessed one of her friends being treated like a starving man’s meal. Naomi swore she had never moved so fast in her life. When she had lifted the phone to her ear once again, there was no service. Instead of trying to figure out what was wrong with it she shoved it into her backpack and ran like the hounds of hell were after her. She had been one of the first to run into the teachers’ lounge. It was the closest to her and so she went for it. Now Naomi stood in front of the fridge inside. Rummaging through its in order to see what was inside. She pulled out an energy drink and cracked it open, taking a sip. Naomi closed the fridge and sat on the floor against the wall.

To think that the world would end during her senior year. Just when she was about to leave, she was stuck here for who knows how long. Naomi thought back to her brother and how they had talked about moving once she graduated. God she hoped that he was alright, and not to mention her father. The old man was so vulnerable, he wouldn’t stand a chance. Naomi took another sip of the energy drink, her face neutral as she thought of her predicament. She could always try and head for her car, her tank was full and her keys were on her. But then again she was sure that outside was swarmed with zombies.

Naomi was pulled from her thoughts at the sound of someone talking. She looked up and peered around the room and, was he honestly that worried about his shoes at a time like this? Naomi shook her head, sneaker heads. Honestly her brother would probably react the same. She looked at the familiar faces of her fellow students before focusing on Topher. It was nice to see someone she was on friendly terms with. Naomi ran a hand through her faux locs. She had seen enough movies to know what was going on. “I think that we’ve seen enough movies to know what’s going on. A zombie outbreak but instead of slow and decaying, they’re on the early stages. Which means they’re even deadlier.”

Persephone sat in the corner of the room, knees hugged firmly to her chest like it was somehow going to protect her. She had her eyes fixed on the wooden prop sword that laid in front of her. Its once smooth surface now had a thick coating of drying blood. "I killed Jane," she stammered, more to herself as she was still struggling to come to terms with her actions. It isn't that she wanted to hurt her. She just didn't have any other choice.

Sure everyone had been gathered in the auditorium and tempers were running high but it wasn't that bad. She and her theatre friends had been doing a run-through of the play there were meant to be putting on later in the year. It was supposed to be a nice distraction from the current situation. Then the fight broke out and everything fell apart. Persephone wasn't one to partake in fights so she walked out into the hall. That was when Jane ran up and grabbed her. As she cursed and shoved her off she noticed that something had gone terribly wrong. Further down the hall, she saw a kid tear a teachers' throat out with their teeth. Now utterly horrified when Jane ran back at her again she swung her wooden sword straight into her head. Sure, Persephone was a small girl but with all the adrenaline pumping through her veins there had to be enough strength behind that swing to knock her out. But when Jane hit the floor she kept moving and grabbed hold of her ankle. So Persephone brought the wooden sword down again and again until she stopped moving.

As she backed away from the body in horror she quickly lost anything that remained from lunch in the nearest trashcan. When she stood back up other students came running down the hall. Now knowing not to question their decision she ran straight into the nearest room, the teacher's lounge. A few more students came in before the started blocking off the door with anything they could find. The only problem was that in doing so they also blocked off their only exit. They could only hope that it would be enough to keep the things outside at bay.

Persephone looked up from the sword as the others in the room started talking. Almost everyone in the room was familiar to her which made her feel a whole lot better. If it had been any other time she probably would have laughed at Jamarus scrubbing his shoes in the sink. They mentioned something about a plan... They needed a plan. A girl she wasn't familiar with started talking, saying that the students outside were zombies. Interesting conclusion but they still needed a way out.
"If we can figure out a way to get to it. My Jeep is parked right outside the front doors. It would be a bit of a tight squeeze but we could all fit" she spoke up. If it turned out that things outside were as bad as they were inside... They would be screwed. Which brought her thoughts back to the bloodied wooden sword. While she couldn't lose her lunch twice it would probably be a better idea to let someone stronger use it as a weapon. So she climbed to her feet and picked up the sword, making her way over to a girl she recognized as Katie. "You'll probably have better luck with this," she said, holding it out for her to take.

Topher's head rested in his hands as he sat on the uncomfortable chair. It had all happened so fast, the boring life he was used to turned into a horror movie in the blink of an eye. He shuttered thinking back to the auditorium. It felt like time froze around him even though everyone moved normally, he stood frozen watching Taylor Mackmyra get pulled to the ground as rabid bodies of his former classmates ripped flesh from every part of her they could. Blood pooled forming a deep crimson pond that stained the bottom of his worn black sneakers.
Topher's head spun as a dull ache began to form. A migraine in the making, he thought bitterly to himself. Knowing the thoughts of what happened moments ago would only make his head explode he didn't try to push them away. Shaking his head as if it were to forcefully throw the grim images from his mind, he reminded himself he was alive and that right now that was better than nothing.

Glancing up when Rosemary asked for the plan he felt a little startled. Topher hadn't seen anyone but Kaylee in the room, as he immediately went to sit down in shock. Looking around he felt a little comfort knowing a few of his friends had made it to safety if you could count being trapped as safe. The rest he hoped had escaped before anything bad could happen, Topher sighed not Taylor though. He frowned when he heard the nickname that plagued him for years and the jerk that always accompanied it. Before he could speak others chimed in, which he was thankful for. He was an honor student but they sure as hell didn't teacher Zombie101 in biology. He nodded along to what the others said having come up with three possible ideas.

"Look there's not a lot we can do. I can only think of like three options all of which could result in a very painful death. We can try to get out the window and risk alerting every zombie that hears the glass break. Or we go through the ceiling and hope the tiles don't give way in the middle of those monsters. Our last option is to go out those doors," he pointed to the hastily put together barricade with a sigh he continued. "But we risk walking right into a deadly maze. All I know is that we get out of here we can go to my dad's deli, there's food and water, and knives..." He trailed off.

Was any of this real? He couldn't be planning an escape from the undead. Zombies were just monsters from movies like vampires. He has to be dreaming, not here, not to him, this couldn't truly be happening. Even if they did get to his dad's deli what would they even do, sure there were knives but high school students aren't the most equipped to deal with the walking dead even while armed. A part of him feared that even if they all managed to escape that the worst had yet to come.

Alex was sitting on the ground, guitar in his lap. His shaking hands danced along the wooden frame, checking it for any signs of damage, anything to take his mind off what had just happened. It had almost gotten him killed as he fled from the auditorium... He was messing around with a song when everything went to hell. When he saw people start a fight, he initially made a move to try and break it up. But then heard the screaming and saw the blood. So much blood... He'd run back to his stretcher, grabbed his guitar, slung it over his back and made a break for the exit. A jock was blocking his way,he couldn't tell whether it was Jake or Kyle. Nevertheless, he set his shoulder and tried to charge through, like he'd seen it done at so many of those damn compulsory football games. Alex connected, and almost made it through, but the creature latched onto his guitar and tried to pull him off balance. A few quick, adrenaline filled stomps loosened the grip, and he was able to pull away and make it to the lounge, where he sat now.

"Fuck..." Alex hissed underneath his breath. Around the shoulder of the guitar, the zombie had scratched in some deep grooves. However, a quick, quiet strum set his mind at ease. It hadn't seemed to have affected the sound at all. He looked up as Topher detailed their options. For the first time, he looked at his fellow students stuck in their predicament. "If it's all the same, I'd rather not fight this horde head on. Either the roof or the window seem like our best bets. If we could find some duct tape, we could try and quietly break the windows?"

Fitz
Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion

Eastwood High was an older school and as such it had more than one floor, a fact that was abundantly clear when she realized they would have to either jump down, or jimmy to another room on the ledges outside. The blonde-haired ex-cheerleader thought for a moment about Topher’s other stupid suggestions. As soon as they moved the barricade away from the door, there was a chance the zombies would hear the tussling—or at least, that’s what she assumed. Gonzo horror movies tended to write zombies as very adept at hearing and smelling. She wasn’t sure if any of them were correct, obviously, but from what she could tell from running away from them she did know that they were quickest when they were close. They could outpace them, or at least she could, if they decided to run outside the teacher's lounge. Still, it seemed to her that the ceiling crawlspace was probably best, if only to go across the hall to another room. The situations were few, but the window, in her opinion, was not one of "good" choices.

After a few seconds of thinking, Fitz looked over to some of the other students who hadn't spoken, wondering if they thought similar things before speaking up for a second time.

“The hallways are going to be full of those things. But if we could get down to the main floor without breaking our legs, we could probably outrun them.”

She paused for a second before repeating one of her words from that sentence for emphasis.

“Probably.”

For better or worse, Kaylee was a disheveled mess.

Though her survival instinct was quick to react, tossing metal chairs and whatever else she could find onto the barricade, Kaylee was still riding the adrenaline high. Her eyes were glued to her hands, shaking and covered in blood—blood that was not hers. She had seen the movies, and yet seeing such carnage in person went further than any sort of cheesy gore effects. Every second her thoughts would think back to the auditorium, with visions of her friends and teachers having flesh violently ripped from their bodies, not unlike a dog being perhaps too playful with a chew toy.

And yet, somehow, Kaylee had come out alive. Countless numbers of her peers perished, turned into those flesh-eating monsters outside, while she lived, trapped in the teacher's lounge with eight other students. Lifting her gaze upwards, Kaylee took notice of some familiar faces. There was the captain of the softball team she was in, but also Topher and Kathrine.

Closing her eyes, Kaylee sighed. She wasn't the church-going type, but Kaylee found herself busy thanking Him over her childhood friends being able to make it out of hell on Earth alive and well, though how well was a question for another time.

Taking in the relief that some of her closest companions made it, Kaylee looked at the others once again, and voiced her own thoughts on the matter. "Maybe we could wait until later? Instead of jumping out the window." She replied, not exactly keen on breaking her legs in the process of escaping the school. Besides, you couldn't run from them with broken legs.

"I mean, either way, we'll have to risk it, but maybe, I don't know, they'll filter out or... something."

Kathrine Hawkins

Katie was fixated on her feet with a thousand yard stare. She wasn’t feeling scared, or anxious anymore. Her hands had stopped shaking, numbness was setting in. She wasn’t sure how on earth she had made it. Kathrine tried to focus up, tried to remember. Everything that wasn’t going on immediately in front of her felt like a hazy dream that was fading fast. Katie glanced up from her shoes, in an attempt to rejoin the conversation. Everyone’s voices felt muffled and distant, but she made the strong effort to key back into them.

“I’m with Kaylee. Jumping sounds like a bad idea. Eventually they’ll have to leave to find-“

Katie stumbled over her words. This was so fucked. Those people were her friends, her teammates. God, she didn’t even think about her family. One of her sisters was an underclassmen. She immediately walked off those thoughts. Her sister was a tough kid. She escaped. She’s somewhere safe.

“Eventually they’ll have to leave to find something to eat.”

Fitz
Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion

Fitz scoffed, rolling her eyes at Katie's response. “Is that before or after we all starve to death locked in the Teacher's Lounge?”

As far as Fitz could tell, the ideas that had presented were bordering on extreme apathy or extreme stupidity.

While Katie was right that the undead horde of their friends and classmates would have to eat eventually, Fitz was not someone who was known for liking being pushed in a corner. Kaylee had seen what happened when someone did it to her in the locker room after a rough loss. It wasn't pretty, and for someone as pretty as Fitz was there was a ugliness to her beyond even the usual mean girl politics of being a leader and high school queen bee. However, as she thought about their predicament a little more she did realize, to an extent, that there wasn't much they could do immediately. They would have to wait regardless of what plan they wanted to pick.

“We are going to need to stay hydrated and energized. So unless one of you guys have enough food for all of us, waiting it out isn't going to work. We are going to need to sneak out. That's just a fact.”

i don't know - defeated.gif
Persephone placed the wooden sword back on the bench. It was okay if Katie didn't want it right now, she was sure she could manage to use it herself until they got better weapons. "Uhh, guys... You do realise that before this, the school was on lockdown. So unless someone already made it to those locked doors and opened them with a bunch of zombie students trying to kill them. These zombies are locked in here with us" she pointed out.

So she made her way the windows and opened up the blinds, chancing a look outside. There were a few of them wandering around outside as there had been since the lockdown. There was one thing she knew for sure, they couldn't just jump out the window. If one of them so much as slightly sprained an ankle in the fall then they were as good as dead. If they took too long to get back on their feet afterwards? Dead. Topher was right there were just no good options for them.

Persephone shoved her hands into her pockets in an attempt to hide the shaking. What was it that Fitz always said? Don't let them see your weakness? It was something like that. This wasn't the time to start losing it. Even though she had the blood of another girl on her... One that she beat to death with a wooden sword. She covered her mouth with her hand as she felt the bile coming up her throat again. They couldn't stay here any longer if the smell of the dead bodies rotting started drifting into the room she would lose it. They needed to get out

"I'm with Fitz. Some of you haven't skipped a few meals and it shows. If we wait too long we will be far too weak to fight or outrun them"

tumblr_inline_pc8xh7xJye1rfmocr_250.gif

Zombies? Is that really what was going on out there? Jamarus had been deep in thought but had still been listening to the conversations going on around him. So what? The world was just over now? Life as they knew it would never be the same again? There would never be more basketball? "Man..." He grumbled under his breath and shook his head. It was probably best to think about one problem at a time and the first problem was how they were getting out of here. If they even needed to.

He let Fitz and Persephone finish speaking. It was good to see friendly faces being the rational ones and as long as Persephone was here at least he'd have some eye candy. "You two are rushing things. We JUST got in here, man. We can wait at least a few hours and see what happens. No one in here is going to fall out from missing dinner I mean damn how spoiled are you guys? You're going to have to get used to missing meals if this is for real." The tall male slid off the counter and walked over to the window that Persephone had been looking out of. Chances of a jump actually working weren't great. Even if he thought he could make it, it was better to stick in groups.

"All I'm saying is we have time to think of a better plan. If morning comes and we still haven't thought of anything, sure, let's run for it. Y'all freaking out for real. We got running water. Unless you too boujee to drink tap water Fitz." He chuckled and smiled, showing off his pearly whites. Jamarus closed the blinds again and walked back over to his shoes which seemed dry enough. He slid them back onto his feet and gave another look around the room. Some kids still hadn't said anything. Maybe from shock or something else. "If this really is the zombie apocalypse we need to figure out what we're in for. Are they sensitive to sound and shit? We can't just assume we know shit about them because we've seen a movie."

J grabbed his bat and hooked his arms around it while bracing it against his neck. It seemed leading a basketball team at least taught him some useful skills for the apocalypse. He learned to remain calm when everyone else was freaking out. He was freaking out too but it was important to look at the facts and take it one step at a time. Jumping out of the window and just running out of the room were the most obvious but least safe choices. Gopher had suggested climbing through the ceiling. Might work for some. His big muscly ass wasn't going to fit up there though. It seemed like an impossible situation but they at least had a few hours to figure it out. Unless these were like...Video game zombies. Shooting acid and shit. Then they would have to think of a plan quick.

Listening to everyone give their opinions Topher nodded. "Jamarus is right we shouldn't worry about water and food right now. We need to get out of here and then we can figure that out." Topher paused in thought it seemed like most of the group was opposed to jumping out the window, something he wasn't too thrilled in either. The ceiling was an option, but there best bet did seem like making a run for it. Persephone brought up a valid point the doors where definitely sealed. To try to exit through one of them would be risk. "The normal exits are locked so we really shouldn't bother with those, it's too big of a risk. But if we can make it downstairs and lock ourselves in a classroom we can bust out a window, no jumping required. Alex said duct tape would make it quieter, so what class would have that?" He asked everyone. It would still be dangerous given that they would have to get to the end of the hallway before they reached the stairwell.

Who knows how many of their now-dead classmates wondered the halls and how many were there on the streets. Jamarus made a point just because they had all seen zombie movies didn't mean these zombies would have the same conditions. So far we know that they attacked the living, and those attacked eventually turn.

Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion

“Oh, yeah. I'm sure you guys are strong enough to break reinforced glass. Great idea.”

She remembered Principal Nielsen bragging about the upgrades the school had undergone two summers ago. It had something to do with the school shooting epidemic and how private benefactors had stepped in to help Eastwood move forward into the future. Though, in reality, it was probably a tax break or a silver-lining in it for Principal Nielsen. All he cared about was his bank account as far as Fitz could tell. Which, in their current situation, made their lives a lot harder from the kids in less financially secure school districts. It all made Fitz wish she had gone to school at Darwin High instead, which she was sure didn't have fancy glass or magnetic locks.

The blonde-haired teenager thought long and hard about what they could do and it made her realize that they might be stuck in the school for a lot longer than Topher or anyone else thought. Ducking out after the zombie-like creatures were gone to make her way to the cafeteria's kitchen may have been the only thing saving them while the lights were still on. Though, admittedly Fitz was hungry. She had given her last meal to someone who needed it more than her. She wondered if that person was having the same conversation in a different room in the school right now with another group full of bad ideas.

Whichever the case, she looked over to Topher and spoke again.

“You know what I think will work? Ending the lockdown. Finding the head of security, taking their key, and opening the doors. But what do I know? I'm just a dumb cheerleader.”

It sounded like a lot to figure out. She knew that. But she also knew that swinging a baseball bat at a window wasn't going to be the way they were leaving the school. Fitz felt like if they went ahead with their plan she was going to be as far from the room they did it in as humanly possible. Fitz was not going to die in this school if she had any say in the matter.

"Look, we're all in this together. We shouldn't be at each others throats at a time like this."

It was a desperate attempt to be a voice of reason. The air seemed tense—at least to Kaylee—and whilst everyone had a right to be over the fucked up situation they were in, arguing wasn't going to help them survive.

"Jamarus is right just as much as Fitz is. We need to end the lockdown, but I don't think we should be so hasty. What if we're stuck in here for longer than we'd hope for? What if the head of security is one of them, or worse, what if one of us gets bitten?"

Kaylee paused over her words. The realization that they were one bite away from having a hunger for human flesh hadn't occurred to her until now despite that they had survived that exact situation mere moments ago. The thought left Kaylee with a nasty taste in her mouth—that one mistake could be the cause of her or anyone else trying to devour another human being. She thought that she'd grow old with her "prince charming" or, hell, her "princess charming", but now, any one of them could be torn apart the second they stepped out of the teacher's lounge.

Funny how things never work out the way you'd hope they would.

"Whatever made them leave gave us a break, if only for the time being. We don't know what's out there other than the obvious, but, and this is just a guess, at least a day or two's worth of food in here—if we ration it—and water until it shuts off. Shouldn't we at least wait to get our bearings, like Jamarus said, instead of haphazardly trying to escape?"

Kaylee crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, knowing that she'd hate herself for what she was about to say. "Besides, we're already dead if you think we can just fend them off with our own two hands if we try to escape. We're going to need weapons."

~Esmeé~

The whole time Esmeé has been sitting in the corner of the room silent. After everything that went down in the auditorium she was speechless, not counting that she was stuck in a teacher’s lounge. Being stuck is her worst nightmare, nothing can beat that. She’s been watching the other people in the room struggle to find a solution out of the school but to her avail nobody could think of a definite plan. Esmeé’s head turned to Kaylee at the mention of weapons. See Esmeé was never one to fight, shoot she has never even thrown a punch at a person. Now she’s going to be forced to hurt the undead.

One glance at the other people in the room made Esmeé’s head spin, she usually avoided situations like this, situations where she had to be stuck in a small room with a group of people. Not to mention the fact that the zombies were still roaming the halls hungry and angry made chills go down her spine. The tension in the room was thick which made Esmeé even more scared.

“W-Weapons you say?”

Esmeé asks Kaylee in a desperate attempt to not freak out in front of all these people, but it may come soon if she’s still in here. Esmeé wasn’t worried about hunger at the moment, she was more focused on keeping her cool.

Something that’s not very easy for her.

If she doesn’t keep her cool then she can either have a panic attack, or begin to cry hysterically. Both of which she doesn’t want anyone to see. She’s only had a panic attack in public once and that didn’t go well as you imagined, but she has gotten better in tight spaces. Well until now...under all the circumstances Esmeé had become more stressed and didn’t really know what to do.

Persephone raised her brows at Jamarus' questionable choice of words. Spoilt? He didn't know a damn thing about her besides the fact that she was pretty and popular. How dare he assume that he knew anything about her life. What she struggled with behind closed doors. It was high school. At this point, fainting from lack of food was a popular girls rite of passage. Clearly quite irritated by his words, she snapped. "Of course Mr thousand dollar sneakers. Tell me all about how I'm the spoilt one." She pushed past him and made her way over to the sink. If they were going to be waiting it out she might as well attempt to get some of the blood off herself. She wet some paper towels and began trying to wipe the blood off her bare skin.

She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration before tossing the paper towels away. No matter how much she scrubbed at her skin, all she could smell was blood. The discussion seemed to be leaning more towards staying put for a while. The mention of weapons made caught her attention again. It wouldn't be too difficult to find some makeshift weapons in a school. There were weapons everywhere if you knew where to look.

"Hear me out. If we could figure out a plan to get to the science lab... We could potentially use what's there to create an explosion. Maybe one big enough to blow a hole in the school? Or to buy some time as a distraction" It was a plan that was just dumb enough to work. That's if it didn't get shut down in favour of sitting around and doing nothing.

Naomi Wilkinson

Naomi listened as the group talked or rather argued amongst one another. She had nothing to say seeing as she was out of ideas. She ran a hand through her, leaning her head back against the wall behind. She agreed with Jamarus and Topher, it would be best to wait them out. Hopefully the zombies eventually lost interest and they could sneak out. All Naomi could think about was her family. Had the virus spread to the outside world yet? Was her brother safe? Knowing him he was probably safer than her right now. Naomi was pulled from her thoughts by more talking. He straightened her head to watch the group. “I don’t know about a whole in the building but maybe a distraction could work, maybe we could trap enough of them in the gym? Anything to buy is some time so that we can maybe try and find the head of security.” She shrugged her shoulders. Naomi then patted he bag. “As for food well, I have snacks.”

Fitz
Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion
Of course I’m right, I’m me.

The thought crossed Fitz’s mind as Naomi, Esmee, and Kaylee added their thoughts to the discussion.

The idea of an explosion as a distraction or escape plan wasn’t the greatest thing in the world, but Persephone was one of the few people in the room that seemed to have some sense. Fitz didn’t know much about chemistry and the things she did know applied in relation to botany. She wasn’t one of the cheerleaders who were secretly a genius in the classroom, so she figured to leave the chemistry up to the people who had an idea of how to make something like that work—assuming the group decided it was a good plan to go for. However, when it came to food, leadership, and weapons she could be more confident in her expertise there.

As the reigning “queen bee” and captain of the softball team she knew a bit about their options. She wouldn't have minded looking for other survivors, either, an idea she supposed she should propose. Some people had siblings that were underclassmen. Others had other friends who could help. Fitz was certain that if they could get someone who was on the student council or a surviving member of the faculty, their chances for laying out a plan could be better.

“Well, that's an idea.” She sighed, leaning her head back. “We also need to look for other groups at some point. With no signal up here we can't exactly send texts to anybody in the school. I don't have any brothers or sisters, but I'm sure that isn't the case for everyone here.”

She half-chuckled out of anxiety.

“I can't even think straight, but... we need a plan.”

Jamarus had completely zoned out. He started thinking about what this apocalypse meant for the entire world. Were his parents okay? Would he even be able to contact them? How long until the whole world collapsed if this was real? Were there going to be safe havens like in the movies? How was he going to get to his shoe collection? Too many questions and the only way they were going to get answers was by getting out of this room. But he still felt that some of them were rushing into things. For all they knew the zombies like...Fell apart at night or some shit. Maybe this would only be a temporary thing and they were endangering themselves or no reason.

The jock zoned back into reality just in time for Persephone to scold him. It wasn't the first time he had been insulted for his obsession over shoes and he answered with a grin. "Actually these shoes only cost six hundred." When the girl J had always had a crush on just walked past him without further acknowledgement his grin faded. "Come on girl you know I didn't mean it like that." He almost accused her of being up in her feelings but, given the circumstances, everyone was. The talk of weapons made sense but then Persephone started talking about making a bomb. "The fuck? I'll take my chances with the window I'm not about to blow a hole in the damn wall. Who here would even know how to do that? Shit, Gopher probably does. Columbine lookin' ass..."

The next girl to speak up had, amazingly, an even worse idea. "So what, we gonna strap some ham to someone and have them lure all these things into the gym? I don't think so." Maybe he was being harsh but in a time like this he really didn't care. This was a life or death situation and they needed a solid plan that was safe. Fitz for the first time wasn't advocating for a mad dash to the exit. "I still say the best plan is to lay low. It's possible someone already made it out and the doors are open. They'll filter out. All we'd lose is time, not our lives. If they do or don't thin out a few of us can try and find an exit. I'll go. I'll go and one or two others can come with. I've got some aggression to let out anyway. You comin' Fitz?" To emphasize his point Jamarus cracked his neck and knuckles. He gripped the bat as if he was about to swing for the fences.

Kaylee bit her lip, clearly hesitating as she looked to answer Esmeé. Though Kaylee had tried to play devil's advocate towards arming themselves moments earlier, she struggled to say it outright—that they would have to batter in the skulls of their former classmates and teachers to survive another day.

"Just something... you know, to keep them away from us." She explained, seemingly answering and avoiding the question in the same breath. "Something to protect ourselves from danger."

When the conversation shifted, however, to building bombs and luring the zombies away from the group, it was obvious that Kaylee's attempt to diffuse some of the tension in the room had failed. In fact, Kaylee had been tempted to snap on Jamarus, who continued to harass Topher, one of her friends since childhood. Given the situation at hand, though, Kaylee chose to hold her tongue in disgust, feeling that if she did make a scene—not unlike Persephone had done—it would only add to the tension, and inevitably lead to their deaths if the discussion, or rather, the arguments, on what to do was pushed to its boiling point.

At least Jamarus was making some sort of sense compared to the rest, even if he was proving to be quite an asshole.

Walking over to the caddy next to the barricaded door, Kaylee pulled out an umbrella that had likely been left behind by one of the teachers. Kaylee wasn't sure how well it'd hold up, but, for now, it was still usable if she needed to defend herself from the walking dead. "I'll come along." She announced, mentally kicking herself for volunteering to risk her life, but, hey, you can't be a star athlete without taking a risk here and there. "I still think we should wait some time, though. For all we know, they could be down the hall, lurking and waiting for us to make a run for it."

Placing the umbrella on a table, Kaylee then reached for her backpack and began to remove the heavy textbooks and other school supplies from within. "And... given the circumstances, I doubt we'll be needing these anymore. It'd probably be best to leave them behind, just in case we need to grab anything on our way out."

Topher watched as everyone practically bickered over what the escape plan was. He couldn't help but scoff softly when Jamarus suggested he would know how to make a bomb. Most of it was basic chemistry and if he had paid attention in class rather than look for new sneakers then maybe he would know that. Not only is the bomb idea just ridiculously dangerous in many ways. From getting hurt using it or even making it, but the possibility of it failing and drawing all their undead classmates was not a risk Topher was willing to take. Topher watched as Kaylee emptied her bag, he thought for a second before doing the same.

"I'll go too, we should go now. Just to get an idea of things, we don't have to kill anything or try to escape. If we feel like it's too dangerous we can turn back. Some people should stay here, just in case there are any other survivors. Not to mention all of us going would generate a lot of noise. If we can get to the main office we can get the blueprints for the school, and the nurse's office is right across from that." Topher thought for a second, the blueprints would surly help them navigate the school. It would be nice to mark off which areas were too dangerous. While no one needed medical supplies currently. He's seen enough zombie movies to know that it's practically gold in the undead world.

"While I don't think we should rush into anything, I would like to know how bad this shitty situation we are in truth is, sooner rather than later."

Fitz
Teacher's Lounge -- Group Discussion
“I agree.” Fitz remarked, though as far as she saw it she felt like her points were just getting talked over (and repeated) at this point.

She had already pointed out that they needed food, that they should look for survivors, and how they should think about ending the lockdown. She wasn't sure what was worse, people repeating one of her ideas like she hadn't even said it or coming up with a dumber plan like setting off a bomb. Was this going to be the basic run of the group? Were people going to look to Jamarus and Topher instead of her and Persephone? She mused her thoughts carefully as Kaylee and Topher began dumping their bags of their textbooks and supplies before following suit by removing some of the things from her bag.

She looked over the supplies she should’ve opted to keep. Her notebook was in her binder with her student planner, but other than that she didn’t need a 12th Grade Literature textbook or some of her finished coursework.

As for leaving the room, Fitz didn't want to split up the group too much at the moment, though she did find it odd that Topher of all people wanted to rush getting back into the halls when Kaylee wanted to hold up inside the lounge for some amount of time--to gauge when it was a better time to act. Fitz wasn't stupid, she knew what running back into the halls wasn't exactly safe. However, Fitz didn't want to sit on her thumbs for hours on end, either.

“How long do you want to wait in here, Kay? Ten minutes? More?”
