Back from the dead
The human confederation is at war. We have been for decades. The enemy is called the species 5068. They were the first intelligent species the humans met on their quest to explore the universe, and they never once stopped fighting the humans to explain themselves. Along the way, we've met other species. Some benevolent and also in the fight against 5068, some not so benevolent, but we never met a species who was allied with 5068, only victims. Nobody knows why they fight us, only that we need to win. But we're losing. Our numbers have decreased, our colonies are being destroyed one by one, and we've retreated quite a bit. If nobody stands up soon, we may be destroyed.
