Futuristic Voyagers

Fishman Lord

ULTIMATE AI GOD
In the year 2XXX, humanity achieved something thought impossible: the invention of a method for faster-than-light travel. This device was one of the most revolutionary in history, it meant that humanity could stretch its wings and fly to the stars. The drive proved successful on unmanned probes, and so soon it was outfitted on a manned starship: the Einstein. The Einstein’s crew were selected from humanity’s finest, of many ages and cultures, ready to bring humanity to the rest of the universe. The whole world watched as humanity prepared to travel to another star system for the first time.

Then, catastrophe struck.

As the planet watched, the Einstein vanished from our universe. It never reached its destination; it simply disappeared without a trace. As the world wondered what had happened, the Einstein hurtled not through space but through the fabric of time and space itself; finally re-materializing in a new universe. The crew desperately tried to communicate with Earth, but it was no use. They were lost in space in a universe entirely alien to our own. The crew of the Einstein soon regrouped and began to try and find out where they were, but as they began to scan the surrounding stars and planets, they soon came to a shocking realization: every single planet around every single star they searched showed signs of life. Even a few of the gas giants seemed to be teeming with the magic of life. In awe, they landed on the nearest world, a blue-and-green pearl, shimmering with the reflected light of the sun.

This is where you are: in a new, unfamiliar universe, with only your crewmates, landing on an alien world. Already, your crew begins making plans to try and return home, but you know the journey will be long and hard. This is a land completely unknown, and it holds both endless joys and dark secrets. You will discover the beauties and dangers of this universe and you will get home, even if it kills you. You are a voyager in a new world, and you will find your way home.

So, welcome! This is a soft sci-fi RP where you are in a new universe where every single planet has life. Everyone will be a member of the crew of the starship Einstein, the first and only manned ship capable of FTL travel, lost in a foreign universe. The overall arc will , of course, be the long journey to try and get home, but there will be a lot to do along the way and as you discover more of the universe your characters' goals and motivations might even change. I'll take on the role of something of a storyteller, guiding the story and setting along (though it won't be very railroaded at all, there'll be a lot of free choice). Everyone else will take on the roles of members of the crew, though I will give a fair warning and say that if your character does something stupid, they will face the consequences, as death is possible (don't worry, you can make a new character if that happens).

The roles available are pretty varied, and there aren't limited quotas or anything. A lot of the ship's functions are managed by the ship's AI, and so doctors, mechanics, and so on can have their roles taken over by the ship. The ship's main crew is composed of scientists, who were initially planning on heading to a barren, lifeless planet for about two weeks, doing some basic research, and returning. They are very shocked and unprepared for this voyage to a new universe. Also on-board are several coders and mechanics, who are there mostly to fix the ship's AI if it breaks but also have plenty of skills on their own. There is also at least one backup doctor, for if someone is injured out where the ship can't reach them or if the ship's AI stops working for some reason. There are no soldiers or even weapons on the ship, as nobody expected that the crew would be travelling anywhere but a lifeless planet in a universe where it wasn't even certain that aliens existed.

Feel free to ask questions if there's anything I explained poorly!

So since most of the crew are scientist, wouldn’t they be able to make awesome far fetched weapons?

Well, the crew won't start with any weapons, but the mechanics and engineers might be able to cook some fun stuff up if they can find the right parts! There are also metals and materials in the new universe completely unknown to our universe, and who knows what crazy shit y'all can turn that into!

Fishman Lord Fishman Lord im gonna have to drop this rp, ive been busy recently and creatively bankrupt and cant think of a character concept
