Simple disclaimer: I highly respect the men and women that have served in this war, and I do not have any intention of using real person(s) in any reference of dishonor. In fact; this RP would be completely Non-Fiction for the most part, units being completely OC, except for the MOS'. I even plan on biting the bullet and implementing females in the combat ranks. Something that still isn't allowed in the US Army to this day, but would allow everyone who would be interested to participate.

• Setting:

- The year is 1965, and the Vietnam War is pitting the fires of failure. The American people protest everyday against it, and everyone has lost faith in the government. However, this hasn't stopped the draft. With hundreds being drafted into military service each week, one wonders how many actually make it back in one piece. You are an average man or woman, who has either volunteered or has been drafted into the US Army, Infantry as your job. You say goodbye to your family and ship out, completing the somewhat rushed bootcamp portion of your training. Bootcamp only lasted 8 weeks; and now you will be sent to your actual deploying unit, who is heading towards 'Tiger Land' in Fort Polk to conduct your AIT portion of your training, lasting 2 weeks.

This will be where everyone will start off in the RP, entering Tiger Land for the first day of training. The unit will be called the '1st Infantry Marauders', and here you will be analyzed and taught the proper procedures of handling yourself for the actual 'war fight' portion of the RP. This part is heavily stressed due to the detailed nature in war, and gunfights in general. Depending on how well the tiger land portion of this RP goes, I would be more than happy to send the 1st Infantry Marauders into the most horrid area's of Vietnam to experience it all. *To the best of my ability anyway*.

I'm willing to start the RP with a minimum of 5, and stop taking CS's at 10 people. It would be insanity to have more than that. I wouldn't want to take new people of an old RPer dropped out either; due to how much information must be put on the table for something like this to even work correctly. I'm not a huge fan of realism, but I am when it comes to war. When I read bullshit about a guy running out into a group of enemy's with a dagger when he has a fully loaded carbine; I get a little ticked off.

I wouldn't be too picky about character Bio's either; Vietnam took all kinds. However, I expect your Bio to be well thought out, and for it to make sense. You don't have to tell your complete life story or anything; but I would love to hear about the major events your character went through in his/her life. Character progression would also be a major factor to make this RP successful. People changed during this war, not everyone enters the military able to kill without a second thought.

I sincerely hope that nobody finds this RP idea offensive in anyway shape or form. This RP is mostly for educational purposes, and is not a 'tool to bring hate towards our veterans.' There will be limitless cussing, and nothing held back towards character description. Gore and violence will happen in massive amounts; so I recommend all RPers to be 16+ years of age. That's only a recommendation though, I'm not your mother. If you can open your mind to an RP of this nature being younger than that, you actually belong here more than I do.

* Raises hand and vigorously moves it left and right * Kai!!! Vietnam! What the hell! Now we talkin. Are the instructors at the tiger land place going to be game mastered by you? I can give you detailed summaries about the war and stuff, but I'm not sure how the military 'operates' 100%, so I wouldn't want to take control of people that are supposed to be teaching the troops crazy shit.

Negative! The only thing I would actually GM is the actual learning portion of the instructing. Anyone can play drill sergeant NPC's, but I'll be GMing the senior drill sergeant in particular.

Cool! Hmm... I've done reports on some of the major battles that happened before 1970 during my last semester, so I'll be able to help you or anyone else with their CS if they wanted to make a drill sergeant character NPC. Mind if I take that Lt slot for the actual platoon? It would probably be too much work, but since you are the platoon sergeant and maybe a private too? I dunno, just kinda want to decrease your work load.

Hahaha, that actually makes things perfect. Brand new 2nd LT's are pretty much new privates anyway! At that rate, you could mess up with your hearts content and we could keep it canon! Lmao, I joke.

Heya, just wanted to let you know that I would be completely up for this. I absolutely crave military simulation and RP events, but I have been confined mostly to musket era Civil War stuff and modern military settings. I would love to be a part of this RP if I am able to. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I agree, this is a really great idea. Recently went over the Vietnam War in classes and I wish to do some more. I mean, it was all in the mix of the Cold War but we spent a good week on it. Also I would consider myself someone who is knowledgeable in war, from WW2 to Vietnam, I know a lot of the weaponry, events, and other small things most people don't know. But I don't want to come off as a show off.

Glad to see you guys are interested! You don't need to be a Vietnam expert to join by any means, but this RP is definitely for people who would love to learn about it a whole lot more while getting a small taste of it. If any of you have any questions, just let me or carnage know.

I'm up for war RPs, Vietnam being one of my favorite subjects. Just starting to get interested into the Cold War stuff, Dr. Strangelove has started my journey, but the craving for more will end it.

The only problem I foresee about a project like this would be the longevity of the RP'ers. I get that everyone has their own personal lives and such, but it's very hard to know who would just randomly jump ship either halfway or before anything really started. I 'could' implement a theme of AWOL or not making the cut towards people who wanted to move on however, that would be pretty interesting. Getting new people would be a major drag though, making sure they understand the mechanics of being able to fit in with a platoon and such.

As I keep thinking about things, more scenarios come to my head. We could have 'late entry's' to the war, entering a platoon mid deployment to replace the platoons fallen comrade. I think I probably just answered my own questions typing this up, lol.

It's a good idea, I think it would be a reasonable and good way of explaining how people left instead of just saying "They left for some reason" in the roleplay.

Yup, this is starting to sound a little more legit the more I dig in. I took the liberty of watching 'Apocalypse Now!' And 'We Were Soldiers' as well. The movie 'Tiger Land' gave me a great idea on how corrupt the training system was back in the day; on top of all the resources that old veterans have posted online. I'm already tracking what they taught, and how they received training. I'm going to start typing up the RP sometime either today or tomorrow. I'll tag everyone on here and post a link when I'm finished. It might take some time, but it's required for a detailed setting such as this one...

Don't worry! You'll get yours! But in other news: I fucking love the AWOL or a possible KIA option. And if you're gonna make the RP, I'll help with the setting a little! I'll just email you some possible stuff to add here and there.

There's only one more thing that's irking me a tad, the date the RP starts in. Sure, the war did continue on until 75, but most of the conflict happened around 65. The war was actually booming hardcore around 65, and it would make sense to add the chaos and worry around that timeline. I would have to re-think a couple of NCO NPC characters I created; but I believe it would be for the best. You think so?

Yes actually! Cambodia was a huge trademark battle during the end of Vietnam, but it didn't really have the chaos and misery the battles around 65 had, since we pretty much fucked their shit up.

Hmm... Since you're more keen on history and such, I'll leave the 'big boss' character to you. I'm gonna go ahead and change the dates to 65; along with writing up the RP. You're the best carnage!

This sounds like it will be fun. Heh, we're actually learning about this in my history class.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE: 2001— FOREVER

This sounds like something I'd join. Actually, it sounds like something I will join.

And now my female Vietnam war character is possible WINNER! Anyways i'd Definitely Join this.

Last chance to fill the last 3 slots in RP! I'm gonna start off the first post in about an hour from now. If you end up wanting to create a CS for the RP, you're allowed. Just note I'll have to find a way to squeeze you in on a later date if all the slots are filled. Happy RPing y'allz
