You can play whatever part you want. I wrote the plot in 2nd person because it was easeist for me. Though it may be roleplayed in 1st person or 3rd person.

Your friend(best friend, or gf but I want there to be romance) was at your house one night. You invited them over to watch a movie and just hang out. You fell asleep on their shoulder happily, half way through the movie. Though the next morning you awoke confused chained in a dark concrete room with one lightbulb hanging from the ceiling.
