Unraveling the Heart (Closed to Saphire Tsuki&Tenshineko)

White, that's all that was out there, just white and grey. Was the rest of the world like this, was there anyone else out there? Why would anyone want to go out there into the barren wasteland that was once a beautiful empire. A dark grey unicorn wandered through the land, ignoring the cold and darkness, she wasn't sure of how long she had been walking, whether it was hours, or days it didn't matter, she just knew that she had to get as far away from this land as quickly as possible.

She often dreamed of what it was like, to see the blue sky, creatures that walk around during the day, she wanted to see the small green blades of grass that she had imagined in her books. On her back was a brown bag, nothing much was in it but some rations and a few books that told stories about the Two Princesses.

Why?

How could they allow this to happen? They can to their rescue before, why was this time any different, did they not care for the Crystal Empire?

Of course they did, just like the Crystal Empire, Canterlot, and the Kingdom of Ponyville fell under siege. The enemy had caught everyone off guard, not even the princess of friendship could have stopped them. Besides, how do you stop an army of Shadows?

A sigh escaped from the young mares mouth as she looked around, nothing, nothing was there except more white and more grey. Her horn started to glow aquamarine as she pulled out an old map, being extra careful at keeping it away from the wind she looked away from the map as soon as her ears twitched to hearing a distant sound. Her eyes darted around trying to pinpoint the location of the sound, her left side saw covered by her pale lavender mane, now flowing with the wind as it picked up revealing her red eye.

When she was born she was an outcast, never invited to play games with the other fillies, her group feared that she may be like the former king of the Crystal Empire, King Sombra, the one that invited the Shadows into their world. Her group had a little over forty members, each pony had their own job, keeping watch in the towers, and to help the community. The fillies had gotten their education, simple math, reading and writing, and learning their history. They were nothing more then common earth ponies, a small handful of unicorns and a Pegasus or two. When she was born her dark grey coat shimmered like Crystals, her parents were both Crystal ponies, she however was destined to be different. Her aquamarine and red eye made sure of it, it wasn't until the play the fillies would have every year, each year it was something different. However the one year she got her cutie mark, was the day she also realized why everyone was afraid of her, she bared a great resemblance to King Sombra. She had been the one to play as the king and her performance was stunning and terrifying, the exact moment when she got her cutie mark was when she made her first official mask, she wanted to do something that would separate herself from the evil tyrant, and she did.

Once the play was over she quickly fell asleep, exhausted from the day, and being bullied, due to being bullied she had little to no trust in other ponies. That night she had a strange dream, a dark stallion with a red scarf was fighting a shadow pony, his skills as a warrior was amazing, but he soon lost the fight as the shadow pony pulled him under the ice, taking over his body. It wasn't until a few years later did things take an unexpected turn for her, she started seeing the spirit of the King. Over time she slowly started to accept him as a part of her,but this made her community to start to fear her. They had thought she was conversing with a Shadow Pony, they did what anyone would do, eliminate the threat.

When they came for her it was the King that had warned her, it was time to leave, she snuck out in the middle of the night and never looked back. While she was out in the wilderness she came across the old Crystal Empire, finding a map of Equastrea, and a book on different spells, the King, Sombra had taught her in the ways of the warrior.

Now, here she was, alone, lost, and exhausted. Hearing a screech in the distance she quickly put the map back into her bag and started running.

She didn't care where she was going, as long as she could get some distance away from the horrible noise. However the creature had already made it's way to her, and it even had a few friends with it, they were large creatures with heavy light grey coats and large set of hind paws, no front paws, along with pair of wings, it wasn't a wolf, but it wasn't a bird either.

Closing her eyes she took a deep breath, "Ok Unravel, remember your training," she whispered as she opened her eyes, "You boys want to dance," her horn started glowing as a light green rock in the shape of a sword was summoned beside her, "So let's dance!"

With a battle cry she charged at the wolfbirds.

It was cold. When the pony woke up that was the first thing she noticed. Long mane swayed, brushing against her cheeks, as the wind picked up, bringing with it the sounds of distant beasts and a dead land. Even that sound was muffled, she noted. A few steps and she had exited the train-compartment, feeling the scarf she'd been given flow past her, brushing her flank from time to time. A quick survey told her there wasn't anything living within sight of her.

How could the world be so dead here? Even when she was in the Forest, there had been life everywhere. And yet this place was so dead, so lifeless... as though something had smothered it in a blanket. "I'm going to die here." She tested the waters, her calm voice ringing out, only to choke a few feet away from her. A few hoofsteps forward and she realized that there was snow on top of the place she had stopped.

This was supposed to be a station, and yet she had no clue where it was. Had she really reached the Empire? The ponies that hurried her out, onto the train, had said that there would be food here. They said that a pony as blue as her should fit in with the crystals fine, so she'd be safe if she entered the city. That the dark-blue strands in her slightly curly mane and long tail wouldn't be a problem. They'd said that all she had to do was hide, and cover her cutie mark. But if there wasn't anything alive, how could she survive?

The unicorn shook herself, moving forwards. Without the ability to sense life, she was stuck in the dark once more. Just like before her cutie mark had been found. So, one direction was as good as any other. If she wanted to live she had to find something to eat, and there was no point in holding it off. The rest of Shady Hollow had been certain she'd be safer in the north, and she had no choice but to trust them. At least there were no not-black auras, the freakish color of the Shadow Ponies.

Would there be anyone, anywhere, able to help her? She'd brought her bow and arrow, and had made sure to memorize some basic combat spells, but she didn't know how useful they'd be. She wasn't sure how to fight, after all. No one had wanted to risk it, even though she knew she wouldn't miss. Hard to miss when you know exactly where everyone is... and at least she'd been of some use as a medic, even though she'd only been able to point out when someone couldn't handle fighting any more. Before they'd lost, anyway.

Eventually she heard the sound of... something. Her ears pricked in that direction, and the wind brought the smell of fur and feathers. Was there an animal? If there was, maybe they'd know where she could find some plants to eat! Spurred on she walked forwards, towards the sound, only to stop and curl up when she got closer and heard the sound of somepony talking. This didn't seem to be the same thing....

If only she could help ponies like before! If only everyone wasn't always fighting, and instead they were all living happy and normal lives. Fears and paranoia and other typical, normal emotional problems would be all she was dealing with! But... this pony, she seemed to be doing something with the monster. Come on Moonlight, you can help! If you do, maybe this pony will travel with you, and won't mind that you can't see the hoof in front of your eyes! Stand up!

The bigger of the three creatures took to the sky with a loud screech, its talons opened wide, bracing herself Unravel swung her sword causing the wolfbird's talons to recoil. It screeched in frustration as the other two charged at her, their mouth wide open showing rows of teeth. Leaping into the air she used the wolfbirds heads as leverage, helping her to get to their leader. With screeches of anger the leader was about to swallow the mare whole, her sword just above her head came down, its blade dragged across its head.

The two followers screeched in a panic and flew off, leaving their leader to his doom. The leader, now on the ground let out a growl as it watched it's companions leave, turning its head it let out a snarl as it went to finish what it started. Unravel sighed, looking into the wide mouth.

"Please don't make me hurt you anymore then what I have to," she mutter in sadness as a crystal shield appeared beside her.

Using her magic her shield slammed itself onto the side of the creatures head, the force sent it to the ground with a loud thud, causing a dust of snow as it collided with the ground. Her sword and shield soon evaporated into thin air and she walked closer to the whimpering animal. Taking out an apple she placed it beside the wolfbird's head, "Please do not come after me, accept this offer, I hope you find a better home then this wast land,"

Feeling the presence of her spirit friend, she turned to face him, only he was looking at something that was on the hill, "You have company, what are you going to do?" he glanced over to her, curious of what she might do.

With an irritated sigh Unravel looked towards the hill, "What can I do, it's either someone from the Community or someone that's lost." she replied as she walked away from the wolfbird and the hill, not wanting to do anything with anyone.

Why should she trust them, how could she when no one trusted her? They would just judge her, label her as the reincarnation of King Sombra.

The sounds of fighting intensified, eventually ending in the person saying something to the furry-feathery thing. She had been too late to help, obviously, and that was never a good thing. People didn't like her when she didn't help. No, now was not the time to think about how she had just failed to do anything impressive enough to earn her keep, but flinched when she sensed the oddly-shaped aura of the woman leaving.

She scrambled to her feet, walking after them, hopefully to talk, or at least get some directions to the Empire. Why had the train failed? No, she couldn't think about that... she wasn't even able to see what had happened, so there was no point... she was getting away!

Hoofsteps speeding into a light canter she hurried over. As she grew closer she started to smell the blood on the strange pony's coat, and the scent of some kind of skill. "W-wait!" Oh, that was strange. Her aura was two different colors, almost like there were two different people, and yet the two of them were bleeding into each other, making it almost like they were one person. Was this a split personality, or something else? "U-umm, hi?" And here she tripped over a rock protruding out of the top of it, rolling down the hill right past the pony and into a nearby larger rock.

Ouch! That hurt, but she had to focus more on figuring out where she was. So, the blind pony tried to dig herself out of the snow pile that had covered her, in the direction of the two-toned pony, and once her head was out she tried again. "H-hi! My name is Moonlight! What's yours?" Please let this pony not ignore me!

Unravel turned her head when she heard the pony's voice, seeing that she tripped over a rock and roll down the hill, landing into a large pile of snow. Taking a quick stride over she helped dig the mare out. "You should really look--" she fell silent when she saw the sapphire eyes, this mare was, blind.

Hearing her name was Moonlight, Unravel knew that this mare wasn't from the Crystal Empire. "Unravel. What are you doing out here by yourself, don't you know it's dangerous?"

"Your'e out here by yourself." Sombra commented.

With an inward growl Unravel glared at the transparent colt, "Shut up." she hissed softly, not wanting this mare to thing she was crazy.

Glancing back to the creature she helped the blue mare to her hooves, "Are you ok?"

Oh no, she was staring at her. After a lifetime of being blind she could practically feel the pity, and it never ended well. Her ears dropped down, one flicking at the silent whisper, hearing it perfectly fine because of the upside of her being blind. So, whatever was going on she could talk to it?

"I'm fine, thank you." Now on her four hooves she shook off some of the snow, at least in the back. "Wait, I came here because I was told I'd be safe in the Crystal Empire. Something about blending into the scenery?" But if it was dangerous... did they not communicate any more? Oh, wait that was right... the empire was dead. "A-anyway, I was part of the defense force for Ponyville, until it got overrun." Even if they kept her in the medical teams. She wouldn't miss!

Though looking back at how she'd reacted to that fight, it was probably a good idea. The slight indignation she'd been building up dropped down to nothing, replaced with self-disgust. Voice now far quieter she managed to get out, "T-though I was sent on a train, it just broke down at some point. So, I didn't make it to the old Capitol?" That was not good. That meant she was walking around and had probably gotten herself completely lost.

Maybe one of the two parts of the Mare knew where to go? Should she ask for help? But that never seemed to end well for her. Everyone would assume she was helpless...

Holding back a sigh, Unravel closed her eyes for a moment, looking into the distance she could see the tiny glow coming from the Empire. It was going to take a while to get there, but it they could find a place to stay for the night they could travel first think in the morning. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had to go back, even though she had been gone for a few days.

"We need to find some sort of shelter for the night. These storms get pretty bad at night."

Unravel started walking before glancing behind her, "Make sure you keep up, once we get the the Empire, you're on your own."

Oh, so Unravel was going to help her? She nodded, walking after the mare. "I am grateful for the help!" It was a good thing that the two of them had met, she'd likely have ended up dead within a day at this rate. Who knew there were times when she was at risk of dieing from the storms! She resisted the urge to shudder, instead moving so she kept pace with the taller mare.

After traveling without saying anything for a while she finally asked, haltingly, "Why... why do you, that is... nevermind." It was rude to ask about something like that. It wasn't like she was a patient of Moonlights! Curious she may be, but she was not rude, and part of her was glad that there had been a really strong gust of wind right then. It kept her idiocy from being noticed, hopefully.

There was no point in thinking about the strange aura, no matter how much she wanted to, because even if she did look into it there was a very good chance that even her Special Talent wouldn't be enough to help. Especially if it didn't have to do with her own mind, but something magical in nature. Moonlight should have known better, so she just lowered her ears and continued to follow, not attempting to initiate conversation again.

Unravel glanced behind her was the young pony tried to ask her something just as the wind had picked up. Looking back in front of her she saw nothing but the same grey and white.

If we don't find some sort of shelter soon we'll freeze to death.

"There's a cave not too far from here, it's just over this hill."
Sombra gestured over the hill the two mares were climbing.

Sure enough as Unravel made it to the top if the hill , there is was, "There's a cave up ahead, we can rest there for the time being."

"That sounds wonderful!" She let out a tiny smile, not able to see it herself, but glad for the break from the wind. If the two of them could just get out of the wind she'd feel much better. And if that could happen, maybe she could start thinking of things to say that didn't have to do with causing the mare next to her to feel awkward or angry.

It was then that she noticed that the smell of blood had faded, to the amount that it was obviously dry now. That wasn't good, what if she was injured? Moonlight wouldn't be able to tell without her sense of smell... not without her hoof touching the possible wound. And that would be just plain awkward.

((GAH. So short...))

(It's ok)

As they climbed down the hill Unravel felt a sting on her right fore leg, one of the wolfbirds talons must have grazed her when she was trying to get out of its way. Once they were inside the cave she would check it. She didn't have much knowledge in the medical area but she could patch up a small wound. Reaching the mouth of the cave she picked up a stone and tossed it inside, hearing the clattering echo as it slowly came to a stop, waiting a few moments, listening for any signs of movements.

Nothing. A good sign.

Walking inside Unravel use her magic to illuminate the cave, it was dark but it will keep them safe from the storm, she could hear the thunder echoing in the distance. Placing her bag on the ground she took out a long strip of cloth and looked for the wound.

Once more her ear twitched at a slight sound, at which point she walked towards the Mare. "Unravel, d-do you need help? I was.. umm, I helped with the medical tents." The dual nature of this pony's aura made her hard to read, but Moonlight was fairly certain that the cloth and shifting was something having to do with them.

"I mean, unless you don't want my help." Even though she could probably reach wherever it was she was hurt. Unless, of course, the pony didn't want a blind girl helping. Which was normal, after all. Everyone thought she was useless, but at least she could do this much! She'd heard how it was done, and occasionally wrapped things in bandages, so it had to be better than doing nothing.

Unravel looked to the young mare while she spoke, she wanted to help her? A stranger whom she had just met, "Could you get some of the snow, and bring it here? I need to clean this cut so it doesn't get infected," she gestured to the mouth of the cave, "Also, if you have something to say, then you should say it; even if that pony gets hurt, as long as it's for their well being."

Unravel knew what it was like to feel unwanted, her own special talent was reading other ponies.

They ware a mask to hide how they truly feel, they wear the mask to better fit their own society.

If only they could look past their own flaws only then could they truly be themselves. The Ponies in the Empire are nothing like their ancestors, at least towards her. It wasn't her fault that she had a red eyes, or the same color coat at Sombra, they judged her before they even got the chance to get to know her. What did they know of who she really was?

"Oh, that's... that's true." Sometimes you just didn't say things, though. Otherwise people would just keep getting hurt, and then nothing would go well. Shaking her head slightly she went back towards the cold, walking until her forehooves touched snow, at which point she gathered up some of it in the supposedly light-blue aura, carrying it back into the cave.

Eventually she settled next to Unravel, snow in hand, and offered it to her. "I could...umm, if I knew where the wound was I could help with bandaging it..." Please! Ah, but it was so unlikely... no, she wouldn't be defeatist about this! It was something she'd spent months, maybe even years, working towards! Her hoof scuffed the floor near-silently while she waited to hear the response, part of her wondering about whether she would be allowed to help, the other wondering if she should really ask about the two auras...

Taking the snow with her own aquamarine magic she placed it gently on the cut, feeling its sharp sting of pain and coldness made her wince slightly. "Thanks, but I got it."

Shaking the snow off she blew on it, making the stinging die down a little, once her leg was dry she put the cloth on her leg and quickly warping it. She heard a soft scuffling sound and turned to see Moonlight, she looked upset about something, wondering if she should even ask, but they needed to get some rest; they could talk about it tomorrow on the way to the Empire.

"Try to get some sleep."

Carefully curling her legs under her she rested her head on her legs and drifted to sleep.

(Sorry, short post is short)

Moonlight nodded, curling up as well, this time facing the cold. She couldn't sense things in her sleep, but hopefully there wouldn't be anything TO sense. Otherwise the two of them'd be in danger, and she didn't want that. Her eyes closed, mainly out of habit than need to be in the dark, and she fell asleep.

It didn't take her long to actually fall into slumber, though it wasn't particularly good. She couldn't really dream, even if she wanted too, because she couldn't see. Everything would be disjointed scents and sounds, odd textures and whatnot, so all of her dreams ended up being nightmares if she had them. She woke up once or twice because of this, and never really got a good nights sleep...

Moonlight wasn't the only one having night terrors, Unravel twitch continuously while she slept. Her breathing became short and shuddering gasps, images of two dark ponies fighting each other, there was a white one that was laying on the ground but Unravel wasn't sure if she was still alive. The dark blue mare charged at the dark grey stallion as he took the form of a shadow with green eyes, it soon swallowed the blue mare. However when the shadow went back to it's original form the blue mare was alright, but her eyes were clouded with green, showing her her worst fear,or so the stallion had thought. The mare soon burst into a small fit of laughter.

The stallion was confused, then his confusion turned into fear as the mare soon turned black and her eyes looked similar to a cats eyes.

"You think you know fear?! I shall show you the true meaning of terror!" she snarled at him.

She soon pined him to the wall with his own weapon that he had been using, a scythe, a rather cruel twist in the battle.

"What...are you?" he choked, struggling to breath.

With a menacing chuckle she released the stallion, only to raise the scythe above her head, "I am the Nightmare." she whispered to him as she brought down the weapon with the intent to kill.

Unravel awoke to the sound of a scream that came from out side the cave, with a growl she stood up, shaking from her nightmare. Walking to the mouth of the cave she saw two ponies running down the hill, squinting her eyes, trying to get a better look she saw what was chasing them as her eyes grew wide.

She turned back to the kid, she couldn't just leave her here, closing her eyes for a moment, conflicted with what to do, leave the child alone to save those two ponies, or stay with the kid and let the Shadows take the fleeing ponies.

"Go help them already!"

Unravel opened her eyes in surprise, Sombra stared at her before her knelt to Moonlight, "I'll keep her safe."

Summoning her aquamarine blade Unravel ran out into the dying storm.

Moonlight had slept much of the night, but one of the times she woke up- the second time- she saw the odd half of her dual aura, and it seemed to be floating above her. Which was strange, because for all her ability to see aura, she'd never seen one away from the main body. There was no sound from it, not the light whoosh of breathing, and certainly no smell of coat and snow and outside, like from the main body.

She moved to her hooves, "What kind of Aura is this?" She circled it, knowing that probably at some point there would be a reckoning for it, only to once more hear the sounds of fighting, once more. Turning her attention there she saw something horrifying, the odd not-black of the SHadow ponies, and two- three regular ones! "Unravel?" OH dear, how could she... she was far enough away that they wouldn't notice her, but she had to try this time!

Summoning her own courage, she inched away from the half-double-aura and instead moved to the entrance, drawing out a bow and arrow in her magic. "This time... this time I'll be useful!" She wouldn't miss, instead she'd wait for the perfect chance to shoot it, when there wasn't anypony in the way. Just like training! She waited, senses trained on the two blobs, altering where the bow was so it was perfectly ready to catch them once she let go, and as soon as there was an opportunity let go of the arrow! She couldn't get them dead, but maybe she could distract them just long enough...

Sombra stood as still as a stone when the young mare circled him, she was blind so how could she... Aura? That's what she had said, incredible, her magic must be quiet powerful then. He watched as she pulled out a bow and arrow, taking her aim, he stood behind her, watching her movements.

"What is she doing--" he fell silent as he saw the battle that Unravel was in.

Unravel had managed to save one of the ponies by stabbing the Shadow's arm, hearing it screech out in pain was like a horn on a chalkboard. Hearing another screech coming towards her she left her blade in the Shadow's arm, dodging the other shadows charge, causing the two Shadows to send one another into the ground. Keeping her eyes on the opponents she let out a frustrated growl when she heard the two ponies running towards the cave.

Sombra I want you to put up a barrier when those two are inside!

"On it, but the kid is taking aim, she's got a bow and arrow"

Unravel's eyes widened in shock that the mare had a weapon of her own, she failed to realize that the Shadow Pony was now in the air, closing in on it's target. Suddenly an arrow struck the creature in the eye, its screech was louder than the other one, using her magic she took her crystal blade out of the other Shadow Ponies arm.

"You want to be spared of the pain and humiliation then I suggest you two leave!"

Both of the Shadow Ponies looked to each other before their ears twitched to a sound in the distance, with twisted grins they both turned and seemed to glide through the air; leaving Unravel by herself.

"Don't get too cocky, unicorn warrior." hissed the shadow with the arrow.

Surprised at the sudden retreat Unravel ran back to the cave.

Moonlight winced, 'watching' as they left. "I hope I was of some help this time..." Though the two regular pony-auras seemed to be rushing up the building, and the half-aura hadn't moved past following her. She let the bow lower, looking for another arrow in case something happened, only to stop when Unravel started running up to the now group of three. One hoof rose as she put the bow away in her saddlebag, waving her hoof slightly in greeting.

She wouldn't look into anything, but she could tell that the two that had just arrived were in a bad way, so she inched closer and closer to them, asking in her typical calm manner when dealing with clients... or would have been clients, "Are you ok? Is there a wound anywhere? Anything that hurts, even the slightest?"

The two Ponies, one was a light brown Pegasus, while the other as an emerald green earth pony, shivered in fear as tears streamed down from their eyes like a water fall.

"Th-they came out of no where, they attacked our best shooters, they said something about trying to find a heart." the Emerald one replied in a quivering voice.

Unravel had just entered the cave, the barrier still in place, it was meant to keep the Shadow Ponies out, her magic created an eerie glow, her bangs that covered her left eye was now behind her ear. The emerald pony yelped out in fear, trying to get away from the dark mare, "What are you doing here?! I thought you left the Empire months ago!" he accused.

"You were supposed to keep a look out. What happened to the Empire?" she questioned, holding back her fear for her home.

That was strange, this pony's... both of them had had a sudden spike of darkness in their auras, growing more muddy. "Umm, I don't really understand it all, but it seems strange that you would be scared of her..." One hoof rose, slightly, "I mean she was... was the one who saved you, after all." Her hoof dropped, ears falling down as well, "N-not that it's my business anyway." She needed to learn to keep her thoughts to herself.

Wait... the Empire wasn't dead? How strange. That meant that Unravel had a point, though, in that if the town had fallen then she was likely to not be safe at all. Why were they looking for a heart, though? It made no sense, everyone had one. I could... maybe... n-no, that'd be a bad idea. It goes against everything I stand for!

"You don't know who or what this pony is then kid. You should leave her before she does something--" the emerald pony got cut off as he was pushed into the wall by Unravel's magic.

"You don't know anything about me. What would you know? This young mare has shown me more kindness than any of you ponies in the Empire. Now I will ask only one more time, what happened to the Empire?"

As she asked her question there was a loud explosion from miles away, the cave shook from the shock waves from the intense heat. Unravel let go of the emerald pony and ran outside, Sombra quickly followed her, he couldn't be far from her; if he was too far from her body then he would disappear.

The brown Pegasus' legs shook but he took off after Unravel, leaving the Emerald pony and Moonlight alone.

"They're done for, the Empire is gone," he whimpered hysterically.

Moonlight would have gasped, but really she had no right to do that. She'd never been in the empire, and to be honest she'd always thought it was mostly dead, aside from some plants and wild animals. Instead she walked closer to the pony, awkwardly moving her hoof around until she touched his back, and brought him into a hug. It just really felt like he needed one. "It... it must be horrible, to know for certain your home is destroyed."

For all she knew there was nothing wrong with Ponyville, aside from it being under the control of the Shadow Ponies. But she couldn't give up hope that everything would be alright, somehow. Neither could this pony, actually. "Hey, stay with me, my name is Moonlight. What's your name?" Please let this at least keep them from panicking! This is why she was still in training. All she'd ever helped with was small things... she could only help the same tactics would work.

Unravel had made it over the hill , the sky was full of smoke, and the smell of something. Her eyes widened with horror as she saw the Crystal Empire, her home, in flames. Sliding down the hill she could hear the screams of her fellow ponies, she was worried about her parents, were they alright? She didn't notice that the brown Pegasus was flying just behind her, picking her up so she wouldn't be running into the burning empire.

"Let me go, I have to see if there are any survivors!"

The pegasus didn't let her go, he flew back to the hill gently putting her back on the ground. "If you do go you'll only end up getting burned or not making it out of there. Or worse those Shadow ponies see you and they kill you," he countered.

Unravel closed her eyes and kicked up some snow in frustration, she felt hopeless.

"If I recall those that Shadow pony said something about a heart, got any ideas?

Unravel turned her head towards the pegasus her eyes narrowed in anger, "How am I supposed to know?! Why is it that you Crystal ponies always seem to think I know what's going on when something bad happens?!"

"Who said I was a Crystal pony?"

**

The green earth pony didn't move when Moonlight wrapped her hooves around him, he was still in shock of what had happened. He was coming home from work when he heard the screaming, suddenly buildings caught fire, and the shadows were moving, taking the form of ponies with large fangs and red eyes. They had to have been nhers, the crystal unicorn that had left to get what she thought was hers, to follow her mast; the tyrant that enslaved his ancestors from one thousand years ago. It's always her fault.
