Background
Sakura grew up in a small town on the island of Honshu. Her father was rich and in good standing with most of those who were in power. He went off to war in 1918 and was shot and killed in 1919, the same week she was born. She then grew up with her single mother, and despite the lack of a male figure in her life (aside from her younger brother) she was rather tomboyish, and fantasized about joining the military to follow in her father's footsteps. He was a hero, and died in battle, the most honorable thing a man could do. However, her country didn't support the idea of a woman joining the military. Sakura eventually convinced the general that she was good enough to fight with the men. She was given her own submarine to captain on the attack on pearl harbor.​

She is somewhat introverted and stern to strangers, but once she opens up she has deep and long lasting friendships. She values courage and integrity, frowning upon many practices. Her opinions on the Americans are neutral, she is just serving her country
