Troubled Waters (Crysie Cuddles X Techno Cat - Mature)

Should have known. Damn, this whole place is going to come down soon, I can already smell the smoke and hear the crackling of the fire. Serena knew that they had to get out of the burning building, like right now. The building was already old, meaning the wood was very dry, and they fact that it was made mainly of wood wasn't helping either. She felt kind of stupid for not putting things together quicker. Then again, her mind was still in a haze from the heated moment with Mason.

She looked at Mason warily, she had never seen him like this before, sure she's seen him mad but it wasn't compared to this. Serena shivered at the vibe that she got from him. It wasn't a pleasant one, and it sent chills down her spine, and the vibe just chilled her to her bones. "Even if you don't go with me, I was gonna kill the guy." It was true, she wasn't planning on letting the little worm live.

Pocketing her dagger, she let a bullet rip through the air, sending it through the guy's head. "Boom, head shot." She snickered, twirling her gun around her index finger. She quickly made her way to the entrance of the store, keeping out of sight as she waited for her partner to return. Why tonight of all nights? Did the old fart finally lose his top with Mason? I mean, why did he choose to do anything about it now? He could have done something the first or second time Mason got under his skin. Whelp, six is the devil's number, so maybe that's why. Serena pondered to herself as she kept an eye out for Mason and the outside world.

Some of the men were starting to back away from the building, and she really hoped that they would just leave because that would just make this night go a whole lot easier for herself and Mason. If they were to come out of the store right now then it'd be the two of them up against 14 people from what she could see, she was pretty sure that there were more but she was to worried about Mason to keep a head count.

Mason emerged once again, and none too soon. A couple more beams and support structures began to give way, and the streets outside were already gathering onlookers. That just made everything worse. People were bad. More people were worse. The one that he didn't sense was the one he wanted to see, to tear apart limb-by-limb. That damned lieutenant. To make matters worse, there was absolutely no way for Mason to avoid being seen, but thankfully, the crowd outside hadn't seen Serena. That meant that she could escape this pretty much scot-free, though the lieutenant probably knew, along with the people who had, forever reason, decided to follow him.

Shouldering a pack that was clearly a burden, he turned to her and said, "If you change, I can follow you. If I lose you, I can follow the energy signal. You leave longer trails than most." His lips held a small ghost of a smile. Whether she took him underground or just somewhere else, away from all this bullshit, he was trusting her on where to go. Though, he honestly preferred somewhere private. He just didn't want to become the permanent installation into some community that he didn't know. His only contribution up on the surface was that of a barterer (really, a grifter), and surely those services weren't needed or desired down below. Besides, most of his worldly possessions were about to burn to the ground. "There are no threats here besides prying eyes."

Serena let out a short breath and nodded before turning into a cat. She let out a small meow before bolting out the the entrance, stopping once she was a safe distance from the store, looking back to make sure that Mason was following her. She knew that he was going to take a little while to slip out considering the crowd that the fire had managed to attract. Her beady little eyes scanned the area, noting every person that was in the crowd. A low growl emitted from her when she noticed some militia members, even if they were disguised as civilians, she could see the guns that bulged out of their pants. Wow they are bad at hiding that crap.

She waited in the shadows of another building, keeping out of sight of the crowd and onlookers. She kept her eyes on the militia members, she had a feeling that they weren't going to let Mason slip away so easily. Have to keep an eye out for them. Her tail flickered in the air as she sat there and waited for her friend. While she waited, she racked her brain for a route to take, one that would lose the militia members if they did decide to follow her and Mason. On the other hand, she was tempted to lead the members into the nearby forest and kill them, just so they won't be a nuisance any longer. Although that idea seemed silly and stupid to her because the town was going to get repercussions for the dead members.

Internally sighing, she planned on what to do next. She didn't know what to do after she took Mason back to her place, she felt as if he wouldn't stay long down underground, but it's not like he could stick around in the upper world, the lieutenant would just find him and torture him more until Mason snapped. That part she knew very much so. Well, for now she was just going to take him back to her place, then they'll decide where to go from there.

Once he managed to escape the prying eyes of the public, Mason located Serena by means of the trails she left behind, which were almost phosphorescent, if his mind were a visual space. Even those lingering trails of her energy signature made his body tighten and his mind run wild. Serena. For months, she had been known to him, and for just as long, he had wanted her. Thirsted for her. He just never told. Not once, in all his years, had a woman so thoroughly drawn him in. Part of his resistance had undoubtedly been in attempt to conceal it, to gain the control over himself that he had lost since meeting her.

He didn't enter the abandoned building until he knew for certain that he hadn't been followed, and not until he knew for certain that she was alone. Good, she had made it on her own, probably without being seen. At least, without really being noticed. Now, he just approached her, on edge about where they might be going, and what would happen when they got there, never mind the fact that he was functioning on nearly a full day without any sleep. "Serena, I'm here," he called out, certain that she already knew.

Serena let out a small meow as she walked out of the shadows and up to him. Once she was in front of him, she turned back to her human form, her body a mere inch, most likely less, from his own hard body. "Mhmm you called?" She smirked, running her finger up his arm and resting her hand on his shoulder. She still wanted him so badly, and now that they've slipped away the burning passion from before was back and it was more intense than before. She didn't know why she craved for him so badly, she never did for anyone before. Yet, something about him was just reining her. His presence was enough to get her excited before, but she pushed the feeling away, bottled it up. But now, now the bottle had burst, and the feelings just flooded her body.

"Ready to head out to somewhere more secluded, private, and comfortable?" She whispers in his ear after she leaned up on her tippy toes and put her lips to his ear. Serena was planning on taking him back to her place down underground. Her place was separate from the other houses, it was one of the further ones out in the outskirts of the underground town. "We can break my bed in. Or break it." She said, pulling back so that Mason could see her mischievous smirk. It was taking nearly all her self control to hold herself back as she stood up close to him. "We can figure out where to go or what to do tomorrow morning."

Though he didn't voice them, Mason had a lot of reservations of what lay ahead. What bearing does morning have on anything when you're underground without the sun? and Where the hell is this place? Funny how he had rejected her invitations for so long, yet had no idea where she was actually suggesting that he go. Now, he was left with little choice. Instead of letting such insecurities come to light, he closed his eyes and let the imagery assault him, imagery that spawned from her words and the consuming nature of her energy. Still, he was putting an immense amount of trust in her judgment here.

"Alright, Serena. Let's see what your little commune is all about, hmm?" He didn't blame her one bit for wanting to live somewhere else, but he wasn't so sure he could make it work for himself. Would they really just readily accept him? Would he even give a shit? He was so damned exhausted that he couldn't even rationalize it one way or another.

"Come." She says, taking his hand and giving it a light tug as she backs away from him. Serena gives him a trusting smile and look. Everything about her assured Mason that he could trust her with this. "Come on, we have to walk a little ways first." She gives his hand a firm tug before dragging him along with her. Her careful eyes were constantly darting in every direction to make sure that they weren't being followed or going to be ambushed by anyone.

Serena leads Mason through the dying forest that was somehow still standing. She stops when she reaches some boulders that were scattered about the place, indicating that the mountains were up ahead. She approaches a boulder and reaches her fingers into it. No one but recruiters knew about the secret mechanisms to the first entrance of the underground. Serena knew where the slot that opened the door was, even if it was disguised to look like solid rock. It was actually an illusion of sorts, meant to hide the slot.

Once her fingers were in the slot, her fingers pushed the buttons, opening the secret entryway. A part of the builder moved aside, revealing a way in. "This way." She says, walking part way into the entryway and looking back at Mason, beckoning him with a wave of her hand. It wasn't safe to keep the entryway open for long because of military patrols. If they found out about the entryways then it wouldn't be long until they discovered the safe haven for mutants, which wouldn't be good.
