Although they had just enjoyed the nutritional abundance that Holy Temple Ackeron had to offer, Marc Rondel was already thinking about food, or more precisely the lack thereof for the journey. For Spiritua, even if she lacked the necessary skills for hunting and fishing, it was not the proficiency of said skills that her companions may have that comforted her, but the fact that there was food available. " Worry not Mr. Rondel, the Keepers have provided us with sustenance from a world near death. Eons ago if I may add. We only need the necessary will to learn how to acquire it if we do not have the skills already. "

Mr. Gareth Edwards then proceeded to ask the Savior for her name, something regrettable to Spiritua but necessary to clear up the protocol. " It is unfortunate Mr. Alber, however I must explain to you and everyone present, that as the Savior, I am to remain nameless. To the leaders of the Eastern Union, the High Priests of Unity, and yes even the Companions of the Journey, the Title is to suffice. " she explained a little disheartened. It was protocol and not her own desire, however she understood the reason why. She hoped her curt and brief response was enough to convince everyone not to press the matter further. Perhaps someday she would, but not today.

The quiet and cute young woman whose profile only described her as Adelaide approached the Savior while they continued their march further and further away from Tyrus. The road was no secret passage however. It was the primary road that broke off into 3 other paths, one of them leading to the far Port with vessels traveling to the southern archipelago of Dakara. " Well Ms. Adelaide...." they were interrupted by a person who approached them calling himself a member of the journey. " Wait wait! " she yelled trying to stop them both. Orchid Nightingale who arranged for the receiving of all the Companions at holy Temple Ackeron insisted on some papers. " Priestess Nightingale, I do believe he is a Steward of Unity. Just in case however. " she looked to Marc Rondel. " Mr. Rondel please assist the Priestess and make sure he is sufficiently caught up."

The Savior purposefully avoided direct contact with the disarrayed man. She was not sure whether his tardiness was due to some ill fortune or disregard for the importance of the journey, however she did know that Orchid and Marc would sort that out and that she had matters that required her attention. As they got underway, she apologized to Adelaide and proceeded to continue with her response. " As I was saying ms. Adelaide, the journey is necessary. You would not keep your sword sheathed in a battle no more than you would eat a banana without peeling the skin. Likewise the Savior is of no use hidden safely away in the labyrinth of Holy Temple Ackeron."

Adelaide paused, her sword drawn half way before she was given the command to halt. One of the temple's disciples came rushing up,but adelaide didn't know which one she was if she was being honest. She expected her to be as timid as her counter part, but she was assertive and took the initiative to deal with the stranger. Suddenly the blood rushing to her head was calmed and the tension she felt for the first time in days, was quelled. As the savior addressed her once more, she let her blackened blade slowly creep back into its sheath once more. It scraped against its sheath, as if it were disappointed at the outcome.

" As I was saying ms. Adelaide, the journey is necessary. You would not keep your sword sheathed in a battle no more than you would eat a banana without peeling the skin. Likewise the Savior is of no use hidden safely away in the labyrinth of Holy Temple Ackeron."

Yet you would conceal your intentions as naturally as a predator stalking its prey. Adelaide's eyes widened momentarily, before relaxing into a slight smile. " I see, then you wo---", adelaide stammered for just a moment, her pupil dialating as she placed her hand on her throbbing temple.

Adelaide chuckled for a moment, regaining her composure and straightening her posture. The words still pounding in her subconscious like a thousand war drums, " woo--akhem, alright makes sense savior. Meant no disrespect so much as I truly don't fathom what you actually wish to achieve.".

"Yea I can teach, and herbs only suit cooking all the better. Yea never know what you can find out in the wild to make some good eatin. Found weird mushrooms the other day, tasted odd, but filling, thats for certain." one with even the slightest knowledge in the local flora knew not to eat strange mushrooms in the woods, but appears the man was not to be dissuaded so easily. However, the new guy showing up seemed to surprise the man, quickly turning around, only to see Adelaide already pointing ehr sword at the man. "Whoa there, careful where you're walkin, the grumpy one doesn't like strangers it seems." the mercenary seemed warry of the new person.

And then he got an order from the cute savior, as such, he was all but happy to oblige!

"Well then, if the Savior says you're alright then who am I to say otherwise. The name is Marc by the way, we received a nice reception at the temple, bunch of adorable little kids sang, people cheered and now here we are. you just caught the first whiff of the protocol here, to call the savior the savior. We we're just figuring out who among us could rustle up some grub on the road." he gave the man the fast and quick low down of what was going on, and a small complement to one of their number's kids, seemed quite proud of them really so why not win some points while he was at it?

"Ah, I'm a merc by trade, one of the few here not tied to the church to much, you got a trade yourself?'" Marc asked the man, half for curiosity's sake and the other for the sake of scoping him out more, he wasn't a fool to just believe this wierd guy coming in was truly one of them, even with a letter...

Lies, lovely little things.

Character Sheet: Volkan Bey
Location:
Holy Temple Ackeron, San Ska Rae Archipelago
Date: Eausen 1st, 997 CYAD 11:00 A.M.

While Volkan Bey clenched at his knee caps, a small, young woman pitched a knife at him, a bit shy from harming Volkan. Whence the blade landed on the grass, the woman strut herself forward, now armed with a impressive blade. She spouted an insult at Volkan, "That'll do pig, not nother step forward." Shocked by the woman's display, Volkan sought to challenge the woman for insulting his pride, yet his current conditions curbed him from asking a duel. Instead he bided his time, ceasing himself from further movements. For some reason, this group was armed and dangerous, and they saw him as suspicious. Volkan understood their hostility, but he lacked their reasoning to act belligerent towards a simple question.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted another woman with rich locks of chocolate hair. She was only a little taller, when compared to the feisty woman, who'd thrown a blade at poor Volkan. At least this gal remained silent in her modest robes. If he were to battle this group with his present wounds, he'd surely lose, or worse, die. He spent his time scrutinizing the other's actions and appearances, while he rested himself properly. He only required a little bit more time, before engaging the others with his reasons and excuses.

As the wind passed from his lips and into the air, he slowed his breath gradually. Now, his body felt calm. Upon attaining a mini nirvana, a woman wearing white robes stood near the hostile woman, answering Volkan's question, "You said you were supposed to join the journey? Then may I have your name and your letter, please?” He judged her a reasonable woman, so he revealed his name, "I see you're a person of church culture as well," he bowed his head down in respect, offering a small smile amidst the sun and grass, "My name is Volkan Bey, a steward of unity." After divulging his identity, he pulled out a letter, which he later held up high for the reasonable woman to gaze upon. "Am I permitted to hand you this letter directly? If not, I'll wait here with my letter out and ready."

When he finished explaining himself to the reasonable woman, another woman, looking rather mature with silky black hair commanded the others, "Wait, wait! Priestess Nightingale, I do believe he is a Steward of Unity. Just in case however. " she looked to Marc Rondel, "Mr. Rondel please assist the Priestess and make sure he is sufficiently caught up." Now it was clear for Volkan that the rugged, rough man wielding a spear was named Marc Rondel, and the understanding woman was called Priestess Nightingale. He waited a moment, before edging his head up to embrace the full view of the group. No wonder Nightingale offered convincing words; her status as a priestess meant she understood the inner workings of the church. Then, everything came together, when the woman with soft, black hair spoke to the fiery gal, "As I was saying ms. Adelaide, the journey is necessary. You would not keep your sword sheathed in a battle no more than you would eat a banana without peeling the skin. Likewise the Savior is of no use hidden safely away in the labyrinth of Holy Temple Ackeron." In Volkan's mind, this group was clearly related to the journey of unification.

He offered his apologies immediately, "I'm deeply sorry for not responding quicker than I have. I was worried that you were a rather violent party, but now I see that you all are on business for the church, correct?" However, additional mind-breaking facts entered Volkan's conscious yet again, once Adelaide commented on the savior's statement, "woo--akhem, alright makes sense savior. Meant no disrespect so much as I truly don't fathom what you actually wish to achieve." Volkan stuttered his words due to the surprise, "S-savior? Forgive my manners. I-I must a-apologize again for acting so s-suspicious. A-and excuse my tardiness. I was in a f-fight." Again, he lowered his head down in respect for the Savior's presence. While conveying his apologies, Marc cautiously walked towards the man.

Judging by Marc's words, Volkan deemed him a careful, calculating fellow. After hearing Marc's introduction, Volkan again stated his own name, "My name is Volkan Bey, steward of unity. Once the Savior accepts me into the group, I'll be glad to aid you all on the journey of unification. May I ask this of you all, when can I move from this spot?" Before hearing the answer to his question, Volkan responded to one of Marc's questions, "I work for the Navy. However, I've been sent to join the Savior as a steward of Unity." By now Volkan was standing tall and firm, in an attempt to please the group with his new cordial behavior.

Gareth was a bit disappointed that he would not get to learn of their savior's name. There was nothing for it though. It was tradition after all, and he had no intention of breaking it. He thanked Marc for agreeing to teach him before turning back towards the savior.

"Oh uh, Of course my lady. I will respect the tradition." He said awkwardly before a man had approached them. Gareth didn't see him as suspicious since his demeanor didn't give any signs of hostility. Much to his surprise though, Adelaide didn't share the same opinion...at all. He gasped when she pulled her blade out and threatened the man and Gareth was at a loss as for what to do in the situation. Fortunately, the savior managed to calm her down...at least to the point where she put her blade away. When most of the commotion died down and the man had a chance to speak, he introduced himself as Volkan, a steward of unity.

"A pleasure to have you on this journey Volkan. My name is Gareth Alber." He said in a friendly tone, walking right up to the man and offering a handshake in greeting, completely ignoring everyone else's waryness. He did so figuring that now was a good time to try and ease the tension and help Volkan feel a little less...threatened.

" Wait wait! "

Orc who was startled by savior’s sudden yell turned around toward her. " Priestess Nightingale, I do believe he is a Steward of Unity. Just in case however. " the savior said and looked to Marc Rondel. " Mr. Rondel please assist the Priestess and make sure he is sufficiently caught up." She requested.
“Yes, milady. I’m sorry for my thoughtless reaction…” Orc replied, apologizing both the savior and the man in navy outfit, who finally had regained his breath and introduced himself as "Volkan Bey, a steward of unity", although she was still a little confused about where she had made a mistake. Beside her, Adelaide let her blackened blade slowly creep back into its sheath. The fierce girl returned to savior’s side to receive her answer about her earlier question while Marc joined Orc Volkan who was holding his letter up high almost in front of her. Orc felt uneasy about the situation as if she was being questioned about not receiving the steward sent by navy properly. “Yes, I remember your name and your looks and outfit is compatible with the letter I received before about you being chosen… and your letter is flawless from my point of view. Anyway, It really doesn’t matter when milady has already accepted you as her protector… oh, about that letter; if you want to hand it to the right person you have to go to the temple and show it to guards to let you join the special guests of ceremony… but it’s too late so you may keep that as a memento!” She explained, trying to act friendly while being modest. She had missed the conversation between Adelaide and savior, but seemed that Volkan had absorbed it perfectly as suddenly stuttered his words while apologizing on his behalf. "S-savior? Forgive my manners. I-I must a-apologize again for acting so s-suspicious. A-and excuse my tardiness. I was in a f-fight." Again, he lowered his head down in respect for the Savior's presence. Then, Marc aided her with helping Volkan to catch up. "Well then, if the Savior says you're alright then who am I to say otherwise…" He presented the briefest overview possible of the events of few early hours of their morning. Orc smiled at him warmly as he mentioned her beloved students. Once again, Volkan introduced himself, this time to get more familiar with Marc. Orc thought that men who knew how to hold a blade and throw a punch probably would understand each other and get along better due to having a lot in common. “Mr. Bey, you’re free to move as you wish.” She said, keeping the same smile on her lips but her face showed slight concern as she observed gashes on his clothes. “I’m glad you could find us in time. My name is Orchid Nightingale and as you see I’m a priestess… I hope you’ve not been hurt during that fight… but healing is part of my duty so if you’re wounded or feel pain, please let me know; I’m responsible for your health.” She introduced herself and stepped aside as Gareth joined them and introduced himself with a friendly hand shake. “Mr. Bey… if there is nothing we can help you with about your shirt or health, I’d be glad to hear about what held you from enjoying the ceremony especially about the fight… of course if you don’t mind.” She said a little shyly.

  • The Savior and her Companions traversed the road that lead to a small fishing village, commonly referred to as the Southern Port. Along the way there, the Savior explained to everyone a little more about what the journey entails. She was prompted to share as much as possible from her discussion with Adelaide, who showed curiosity about the journey. Many individuals, religious or non-religious, were aware of the various Temples of Unity that were scattered across the Eastern Union. In lore, the Savior pays tribute in a ceremony honoring the Keepers representative of each temple. Should the Savior succeed, the Temple's Beacon Tower would mysteriously glow. However that is as far as general knowledge about it extends.

" In essence, the Savior decides how to go about the Journey. " she explained. The group had instinctively formed a circle around her and while it was meant to be more of a protective measure, it allowed Spiritua to speak to everyone with ease. " It is my goal not only to visit the Temples of Unity, but the islands where people can be found, to help them in any way I can." She looked around and realized at what point they were at on the road. She then suggested they take a break while using her hand to point southward. " Once we pass that thicket of trees will arrive to the base of a few hills, the Southern Port is that way. It may be another 2 hours of walking. It may be a bit late to find anyone crossing the sea in the evening however. Did we want to take a short break here or keep on going?"

Adelaide followed Marc's lead throughout the island's interior, taking mental notes of where they were and more importantly, the time of day. Every now and then she would raise her arm and observe the position of her shadow, in relation to her feet. One's shadow she found, would be pointing westward during the moring, a blip highnoon, and last but not least pointing eastward during the afternoon. Although it was never concrete, she took approximations for good measure. Night time served as her greatest strength when she was on regular duty, but for an escort mission, it'd serve to be the greatest liability. If only for the confidence that the dark instilled in people of her ilk, she knew not to travel at night if at all possible.

Mid afternoon the group stopped to take a huddle, mostly for the savior to take a break. Secondly for her to give explanation as to what the journey would entail, although they were as vague as always. Adelaide nodded at the new information, closing her eyes every now and then to take process what to take away at random intervals." temples of unity...people...what a pain", she muttered under her breath. The savior then addressed the group, pointing ahead toward the final stretch of their transition.

Did we want to take a short break here or keep on going?"
Adelaide paused for a moment, surveying the group for any takers before stepping forward. " If two hours isn't a certainty, it'd be in your best interests to get out of transition as quickly as possible. If I were after the savior, it'd be during transition and at night. Being caught out at sunset in unfamiliar territory is a disaster waiting to happen". She took a step back as quickly as she had taken the floor, bowing out. Her ears perked every now a then. The woods were full of auditory white noise which to the untrained ear, would drown out the approach of an enemy.

We shouldn't even be standing around here in the first place.

Yseult DuBoisLocation: The Road, San Ska Rae Archipelago Date: Eausen 1st, 997 CYAD Time: 11am -Noonish
Companions: Everybody! Mood: Normal Goal: a journey of a thousand miles

The stranger took a moment to gather himself as Adelaide withdrew her blade, the implement's surgical-edge glinting in the light as it slid back into the shadows. Yseult wasn't watching their protector though. No, she was peering coyly across the divide to the blonde man, his locks swaying lightly in the breeze as he stood silent, recovering, his fierce blue eyes hiding the indignance inspired by Adelaide's jibe. He looked like something out of one of those novels the older priestesses sometimes read. The ones about billow-shirted pirates and breathy maidens in distress. Yseult had never peeked at their pages, but she could only imagine the kind of adventures that would draw such heavily creased spines.

The stranger's gaze turned. Yseult flinched, peering down at her feet, terrified he might notice the dopey smile on her face. Slowly looking back up, she found the stern blue stare turned in her direction. Stunned for a few long seconds, Yseult peered nervously over one shoulder, then the other. There didn't seem to be anything of terrible importance behind her, so what was he ...

Orchid had already stepped forward to request his letter and name by the time Yseult realized what he'd been staring at the whole time, her face turning lightly crimson again as she tucked her hands into her sleeves. Gareth stepped forward to introduce himself as well, and marc of course. Her delicate brow drew into a frown as she enumerated in her head the details that marc had omitted or forgotten. Volkan, as he'd said, recieved the details cordially. God, he was even a sailor. The tallest among the priestesses finally introduced herself too, seeing everything was in order with his paperwork. Nodding along quietly, unable to speak up amid the chatter, it had seemed rather fateful that he find them out here on the road. It was a good sign of the auspice they travelled under. Her lips drew into a thinly drawn pout as she peered up at the much taller, much more outspoken priestess hovering protectively close to Volkan. Part of her knew she would be scarcely able to summon words if she'd been given the chance, but it might have been nice to stammer at him for a moment. The saviour got them moving again, each step carrying them details of the journey ahead.

They walked for a long while, and Yseult's attention eventually turned back to the road. She had heard all of this before during training, it may have been the only thing out here she knew for certain how to do. Her attention returned sharply to the group as they came to a halt. The Saviour wondered aloud if they should rest here awhile before continuing on, leaving the party in indecisive silence. Yseult hadn't even broken a sweat, but would understand if anyone else needed the break. She peered around at the gathered faces, lingering a moment longer on Volkan than the others. Adelaide was the first to speak, suggesting they move on to avoid the threat of ambush. Yseult still had her doubts that anyone would actually be out to attack the saviour, but ...

"I .." She stammered, "I would be fine if we kept walking."

"A sailor eh? Is it true yea got one in every port?" the mercenary smirked fiendishly with a small chuckle. "that said, we can talk on the road, no sense sticking around the gate, we got a long ways to walk." and with a quick over the head motion forwards the mercenary started down the road. In truth he wasn't fully sure how this all would end up, yea they were a good enough bunch, only ones hes really worried about is that Adelaide girl and the sailor man.

But, he was hopeful.

But wary.

the former was a girl who likely had her sword on a short leash, the other just showed up. he didn't worry about the former hurting the savior, the second was shifty, if anything. but then again, how did the others feel about the charmingly handsome mercenary with a really nice hat?

It didn't matter, they were in this together, and not like he wasn't used to shady folks in his line of work.

The Forest

The faint breeze shook the leaves as the group made their way into the woods, a small first step in a grand adventure, and a pleasant one at that. Wildlife teamed in these woods, and as such it made good hunting... And for the occasional interesting sight of the local wildlife. But even with all the good that comes out of the woods, one must always be vigilant. And Marc knew the woods were not only filled with dangerous animals, but an even worse threat.

People!

For it was a great place to lie in wait for an ambush.

"Heads up folks, eyes on the treeline and listen for anything outta the ordinary. Adelaide, or anybody else that feels like it, how do you feel about scouting ahead? I ain't asking you to take out enemies as you see em, just spot any trouble, and head on back. If you're willing of course, but we gotta be certain of anything waiting for us is known, so we can avoid em entirely or come up behind em." Marc stopped the group before they entered to far into the woods, a simple change in terrain brought about many different challenges, especially since it afforded new shadows to find enemies within.

"If we find animals, stay together and don't let yourself get flanked, if it's wolves they wont attack a large group thats together, if we're lucky they would back off, if we're not, we'll have to kill a few before they run. If we're unlucky enough to fight humans, get to the nearest tree and hide. Believe me when I say arrows hurt, I'm been hit 3 times with em, I can tell you now they are not good for your health, nor your appearance. That said, any questions? I know this all sounds like things you wouldn't think about but its best we get it outta the way from the start."

the mercenary showed his tactical side here, standard procedure since they don't quite have a shield wall. Small group tactics, knowing where to go and what to do in times of emergency. hes lost two good folks due to the fact they didn't know what to do when it came time, he wouldn't let them go forward without knowing whats what.

Gareth quietly followed everyone's lead, enjoying the nice weather and the natural scenery around him. He listened intently as the savior gave them information about the pilgrimage and the gist of what would happen at each temple they made it to. When she asked if anyone wanted to take a short break he agreed with the majority that they should keep going. He was a little tired from walking but the last thing he wanted was to slow everyone down or leave them vulnerable. Once they reached the forest, everyone seemed to suddenly become more cautious. Fortunately Marc explained to them the dangers and what they should do in certain situations.

"I will admit that it is surprising to treat this forest, a place that seems so peaceful as an area of high risk but if what you say is true, I'll be sure to let you know if I see anything suspicious." he commented after Marc finished his little lecture. As they continued walking, Gareth took a moment to check up on everyone. He noticed that Adelaide seemed especially tense. He moved a bit closer before speaking.

"Um, Adelaide. I couldn't help but notice that you seem a bit tense. Is something troubling you? If there's anything I can do to help, feel free to let me know." he said, a genuine look of concern on his face.

Orchid slowly stepped away from chatting men as Marc brought up the subject about sailors having one in each port as it sounded shameful to talk about in front of a maiden, thus she decided to turn a blind eye on it and just get out of their circle. Soon the group restarted moving and she as they walked the road forward, she noticed that the savior had became the center of their circle, maybe because they all were listening to her or it was the protection strategy stewards had performed. Orc was walking at the rear where she could see everyone. Savior explained more details on their pilgrimage and brought up many doubts and questions that he been born in her mind while reading or hearing different stories about the savior of unification. Many remorse and fictions had been spread among folks due to time that most of them were false information. She thought of asking about some of them from the savior but wasn’t sure if she was allowed to bother her with random folklore. She was so into the black haired maiden’s words that didn’t notice the pass of time until they reached a fishing village and she asked them whether they proffered to stay or move on. Adelaide was the first to reply but Orc wasn’t sure if the armed girl meant to stay or proceed. Then, Yseult stated that she didn’t need to rest which made her assume that the young priestess preferred to keep going. Just then, Orc realized that Yseult had hardly spoken since they had met. She had no idea if it was a result of upbringing of her church, her own laconic personality or she simply was on a silence training, but the idea that the girl might feel distanced from the group bothered her. She wondered if pass of time could melt her ice and they could hear more of her in future. “I prefer the safest way… but I’m not experienced in the matter so I’ll leave the decision to stewards.” She spoke her opinion and looked at protector with warm and trusting smile.

Woods have their own charms and treasures. Orchid always loved forests and trees but at the time they were about to pass the woods, Marc stopped them and warned them about dangers of the forest and shades that she loved in his own serious way. Animals couldn’t scare her but as he explained about arrows in detail, she clenched her staff in her hands and walked closer to the savior. She couldn’t do much to protect her from ambush and assault and her healing skills couldn’t help if the arrow hit head, neck or heart, but by walking closely to savior she could cover her back. Marc explained more of his strategy and asked for someone to watch their way ahead. Gareth volunteered and as headed forward, proved his eyes being sharper than Orc’s as he had noticed the female defender nervousness while it had escaped her eyes.

Adelaide wondered if what she said was too much from a practical standpoint. It was only meant to keep the group alert, to make sure there was no veil of security just because the people of Tyrus treated them well. Up ahead of her was a rather talkative, but mindful Marc. He gave instruction to the group and made a few pragmatic suggestions, but did so in a manner which was closer to lecture rather than conversation. In the peripheral of her eye she noticed slight changes in the group's demeanor which were only worsened by his cautionary advice. The assertive one just a few hours ago looked like a lost lamb. Talk of arrows no doubt lead her to believe that being a human shield was the only thing she could do at this moment. Adelaide shook her head as she was approached by the eager one.

"Um, Adelaide. I couldn't help but notice that you seem a bit tense. Is something troubling you? If there's anything I can do to help, feel free to let me know."
She looked up slightly to the young man, cloaked in white like his fellow church goers. " You should be wary of who'ya extend a helpin' hand to. For you never know what'll they ask of ye", she paused a moment, giving him a slight smile back at him. "But I appreciate th'offer. Tread carefully". She sped up slightly, putting a small distance between her and the group. " I was only trying to make sure my group didn't have their heads in the clouds just because we're on the savior's home' turf. Act appropriately to the situation and don't let a what'tif scenario get the best of you. Over confidence leads to ruin, but being tense indefinitely will dull your blade". With a slight wave she darted into the forest ahead of the pack, her footsteps as light as a feather, almost like a ghost's.

It was here alone in the thicket of the forest, where she was most at home.

ENGAGEMENT SCENARIO

  • Date: Eausen 1st 5pm
Location: Forest path to Southern Port San Ska Rae

  • While they walked the forest path, a small group of Blutbatz spotted them even as they were still half asleep. The awoke and dropped from the tallest branches to launch a quick attack on their unsuspecting prey, the Savior and her Companions.

Situation: Under Blutbatz invasion

Orchid watched Adelaide going ahead of the group with fast but light and soundless steps. “Her movements are admirable. She even looks livelier than before.” She told anyone in particular then suddenly her head perched up at the earsplitting screeches of large bats coming down at them from high branches of a thick and old tree. She assumed them to be about ten heads and got ready to send them away with waves of her staff. The stone head of staff would have quite an impact if she could hit the creature’s head. In the blink of an eye, the first Blutbatz attacked Adelaide which she easily got rid of and the second (Blutbatz2) dived toward Orchid who wasn't fast enough and got scratched badly enough to bleed by the beast (-1 HP). She swayed her staff four times toward the closest blood sucker and managed to hit it two times in row but the third time she missed it and made a hit in her next try. With that the bat was done for but there were more of them still hovering around.

Marc brings the death!
https://www.rpnation.com/posts/8169553/

Coming from seemingly out of nowhere, the bat swooped down upon the ever vigilant Marc, who in his own vigilant way, managed to completely block the enemy's attack by simply wearing actual armor, on which the bat's bite did clink off of and cause it a rather nice tooth ache.

Good job Marc.

However, despite the bat's attempt to get away, the man took a nice swipe towards the creature giving it a nice slash upon it as it retreated for abit of time.

  • The group decided to continue on and try to arrive at the Southern Port before night falls on them and they become vulnerable to the elements of the darkness. Little did she realize that the forest had some inhabitants that would be ready to swoop in on them for a quick meal. A fast and gradual sound of wind came directly towards the group from above. A squad of Blutbatz, bloodsucking creatures of the night, were making them their prey. Before Spiritua knew it, she had bee grazed as she pulled her arm above her head to block a more serious injury. The attack thrust her to the ground as she looked on and saw everyone was squaring up against these large flying pests.

Spiritua left her nursing arm and raised the good one towards her face and began to chant calling on the power of the Keepers of the Holyland:

    " የጥንት ትላልቅ ዝርያዎች,እባክዎን የእኔን ልመና ስማ.የድሮውን ኃይል,እናም የተረሳውን ዕድል ፈጸሙ "

At that, a brilliant horizontal facing Halo formed behind the Savior. She continued with another slightly different incantation.

    " मैं दुनिया के फाउंडेशन की बात करता हूं "

The Halo's light was absorbed into the ground which highlighted the Saviors surroundings. It then shot towards Adelaide and Marc giving them supportive measures to counter the attack.

" I've sent you the power of Earth, use it!"
she said out of breath. The strain of using the arte was greater than she anticipated.

The creature flailed on the ground, its wings possessing gaping holes from adelaide's initial counter attack. Its abdomen bleeding out, but fighting spirit very much in tact as it swerved back toward her, baring its grisly fangs at her. It lunged forth swinging its arm at her, but its attack missed by a long shot. The creature was already blind and now was panicking. Its second swipe on target, but it was nothing adelaide couldn't step back to avoid. Lacking in strength or accuracy, its attacks were little more than an inconvenience more than anything. It kept sniffing around, screeching in her general direction. Gracefully she sprint forward tossing out a knife toward its neck, but it reflected the attack using what was left of fibrous lining on its wing.Although at that moment it was too late.

Using the power rushing into her she grasped the hilt of her sword with both hands and lodged it into the creature's abdomen. It was surprisingly fragile, writhing in pain one final time before she shifting her weight back and pulled her weapon up and over her head, sending the blood and entrails flying, decorating the forest in a blackened ooze. She heard the screeching back from where she took off from, but her body wouldn't move. A pang shot up through her arms and her labored breathing caught up to her. She cursed her condition with a foul grimace, trudging along with her blade in tow.Guess I forgot to breath again, huh?

Maybe it was due to smell of blood or just Orchid’s bad luck that another blutbatz(4) was attracted to her. Once again the young maiden relied on her fate and clenched her staff in both hands as prayed for victory…

Fortunately, this time she could defend herself against the creature but out of her quad swings only two hit the bloodsucker effectively making it fallback.

Character Sheet: Volkan Bey
Location:Holy Temple Ackeron, San Ska Rae Archipelago
Date: Eausen 1st, 997 CYAD 11:00 A.M.

Volkan shook Gareth's hand firmly, despite the multitude of introductions and people talking. He too greeted his potential companion, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Alber. You've probably heard my name already, but feel free to call me Volkan, or Bey." After his greeting, he placed his hand back near his thighs, placing them straight on his chest, in the form of a salute. He bowed only to have paper fall from his tattered garbs, "Oh, my apologies everyone. I was....well roughed up a bit on my way here."

Drakerus Drakerus

It seemed to Volkan that half the group was wary and the other half was friendly. Orchid gently plucked the letter out of Volkan's hand, before communicating that the letter was unnecessary as the ceremony was completed. Believing himself unimpressive due to his tardiness, he yield to a punishment, "If my lateness has hindered this group whatsoever, I shall make it up tenfold." Then, after his salutations to several others, the priestess spoke with a smile, “Mr. Bey, you’re free to move as you wish.” And with that comment, Volkan let up, bouncing his knees in a lively manner. When the priestess finished introducing herself as a healer, he nodded in acceptance. Although, he was in minor pain, it wouldn't hurt to have a healer check for any wounds. He told his story concisely, "I simply dealt with a few bandits who stole my letter. I'll explain in detail on the way to our destination."

MJ ._. MJ ._.

Marc's joke about sailors brought out a hearty laugh from Volkan. He decided to take up Marc's offer, "A magnificent idea. Let's talk on our way. I hope to get to know you all well enough. We're comrades now. Marc, shall I guard the right, left, back, or front flank; or what do you prefer? You seem like a man of action, considering that large spear of yours."

As the savior explained her duties in detail, Volkan walked alongside the group adamantly. He was prepared to protect the savior at all costs, no matter the situation. He'd keep one ear on her, and the other for attackers. They were on a familiar path, the road that Volkan sped through to get to his destination. While walking to the left of the savior in the circle of followers, the savior asked a question, "Once we pass that thicket of trees will arrive to the base of a few hills, the Southern Port is that way. It may be another 2 hours of walking. It may be a bit late to find anyone crossing the sea in the evening however. Did we want to take a short break here or keep on going?" Volkan spoke immediately after the others stated their thoughts, "Whatever you wish, Savior. If you're wary, I shall stand guard and watch you. If you wish to continue, I shall carry you. I must prove myself worthy." His teeth glinted a shine of radiance, showing his sincerity.

Shin Positron Laser Shin Positron Laser

Since Volkan believed the group to be competent, he rarely paid attention to their actions, or words, leaving his hearing focused on the savior's comments. Yet, for some odd reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that everyone was staring at him, especially when he caught Yseult peering at him. He thought he should say something, but Volkan decided against the possibility. He merely assumed she was just curious. Still, he beamed a small smile her way, to show some semblance of friendliness. Once they find a safe haven, he'll offer a few words to the perceptive girl.

Neon Valkyrie Neon Valkyrie

Adelaide's suggestions held some weight to them compared to Marc, Gareth, and Yseult's statements. Although it was true that the quicker they'd get there, the better possibility they wouldn't have to deal with an ambush. However, the savior's own concerns took priority, which was the reason for Volkan to not acknowledge, or support Adelaide's idea.

Now on route to the woods, Marc's words hinted a possible danger. Even though Volkan dealt with no monsters in the prior woods he visited, there was still a possibility, that unknown creatures lurked about, ready to strike at one's vulnerability. He watched patiently as Adelaide and Marc considered their options wisely. Unlike naval combat, ground combat was a different engagement all together for Volkan. He lacked experience fighting in forested areas, but that wouldn't hinder his motivation to protect the savior at all costs. He softened his voice, speaking only to the group in a calm manner, "I shall lend my blade where it's needed." Despite the group's appearance, they seemed to have some intelligence regarding their current predicament.

Yseult DuBoisLocation: The Southern Woods, San Ska Rae Archipelago Date: Eausen 1st, 997 CYAD Time: Late
Companions: Everybody! Mood: Terrified Goal: Survive

Everything happened so fast. The group had just reached the forest. Volkan had just offered a small smile her way. Marc was warning everyone about the danger that lurked behind every tree, attempting to rouse their alertness with tales of being injured. Gareth took charge, offering himself as lookout. He'd just approached Adelaide when the dark, leathery shadows set upon them with a horrible screech. Waist high, with beady eyes and sharp fangs, they snapped and clawed at the group, five moving forward to engage the small party. Yseult froze as one of the things approached her, skirting the group and attempting to single her out, as the others were doing with her comrades. Her eyes darted to their protectors, each engaged with a creature of their own. No one was there to protect her. Even Orchid and Gareth were now facing the razor sharp teeth and lashing claws of the vicious Blutbats.

This wasn't how it was supposed to happen. Danger was supposed to line up in orderly fashion to be dispatched by their more heavily armoured companions. She was supposed to be safe behind these armed Stewards. This false sense of security shattered as the creature lunged at her. Yseult threw up her arms to protect her face. A shriek escaped her lips as razor sharp teeth sank into her forearm. Blood soaked through the pristine, calming blue of her sleeve like some terrible apocalyptic storm, dripping onto her cheek as she fought to keep the creature from her face. It flapped hard against her, attempting to take hold of the slight girl while maintaining it's flight. Managing to shove the thing free of her arm, it hovered in the air menacingly for a few seconds, savouring the blood on it's lips, before diving at her again.

This time Yseult tried to duck out of the way, her hands, bloodied and untouched, thrown up over her face and head. Another yelp rang out as the thing reached down the the last minute, one of its cruel talons catching her in the side. Her eyes wild, her jaw clenched against the pain in her arm and her side, she glanced back at the Blutbat that continued to harass her. Another few bites and she was done for. Clutching her side, she wrapped her bloodied fingers around her talisman and whispered a few words in a strange and forgotten language. Her wounds flashed with white light, and in and instant they scabbed over and stopped bleeding, though they would still hurt for a while.

Her eyes searched the crowd for their Saviour, finding her safe for now, and in fact calling down a proper blessing on their stalwart defenders. Orchid, surprisingly, had killed one of the creatures, though she was bleeding from a rather large scratch. The young brunette decided her best bet would be to put herself amid their best combatants. Dashing forward, she threw a wild punch at the creature as she moved past. Stumbling up behind Volkan's armoured shoulders, she tried to hide in his shadow.

"Please, I ... It's after me!"

Marc, battle post.

"Eh? Whats this now? i feel... READY TO KICK A- I mean butt." marc suddenly corrected himself from nearly cursing in the presence of... So many delicate ears. Regardless, whatever the savior did, she certainly helped out! he felt so much stronger! Even if his technique was lacking, he felt he could definitely do this!

The bat came in for yet another swoop, barring it's large fangs, but once again gained no quarter from the man as he swatted the beast away with his halberd, causing it to crash into a nearby tree. And with a practiced cut, backed up by the additional power granted by the Savior, he swiftly cut into the bat, ending it's life by turning it into a messy cut up bound of viscera.

"Alright, now to help the others.. I wonder if these things taste good.."

Situation: Under Blutbatz invasion, trying to heal the savior

Orchid took her eyes of the blutbatz that were still hovering above their heads as heard shirks from Yesult. She turned her face toward her seeing her taking shield behind the navy man. Marc and Adelaide were dealing well with bultbatz but shamefully, their savior who had supported the steward had been left defenseless. The priestess could see her getting hurt by sudden tackles of beasts. In that situation, it didn’t matter if a large bat took some blood from Orc, she blamed herself for forsaking her duty and pointed the amethyst staff at the savior. “In the name of thee creator… Relive!” She enchanted.

  • Spiritua realized these beasts were nothing extraordinary, however the element of surprise became a great advantage for them. The formation was broken up many stewards and companions were confused as their roles in combat. It was their first time working together in group on something that was potentially life-threatening, and to make matters worse, the confinement of the forest was becoming a great ally to the blood-sucking buzzards. She had no military or tactical experience on which to fall back on, but she knew staying their would not be advantageous for the group. " hah....hah... we need to move..." she whispered to herself.

" Priestess!" she yelled towards Orchid. The young priestess was the closest person to her. Putting her life at risk she did all she could to heal the Savior after being struck numerous blows by the Blutbatz hovering around them. She got back to her feet and drew close to her companion. " Priestess Nightingale, we must get out of the forest. I will be fine for now. Please help me get the others. " she pointed southward and explained quickly that they were not far away from the clearing, and that a short sprint should get them into open space.

" Everyone! Everyone! We must exit the forest! If we get out, we might stand a better chance!."
