Dear Hunter,
Our world is coming to a close and with the earthen cries, monsters rise from the depths who have slumbered for a megaannum. They, too, fear the end of the world. Please come to the internal wound and stop the coming doom. Only then, may we sleep once again. The sound of the ghostly cries disappear from your thoughts with the scent of blood trailing off.
Just as if you had took down your first monster, the scent of blood is fresh and lingering. Though, there was no carcass or anything indicating the source of the scent. You could not help but to follow this scent to wherever it may lead you either it be treasures, monsters or your own death...

Weather and Scenery
You may have traveled far or brief - the skies are in your favor with few clouds to block the sun's view from your arrival. Weather was fair, not too hot nor too cold with nothing to hold you back or slow you down besides an occasional monster that roamed the area. The scent draws you towards a cliff that overlooks something forming below, reaching high, it could be intimidating for some. The sun shining bright, blue skies and soft green grass that sway in the breeze. Below, an open, green field greets the eyes of many followed by a large fault in the Earth. Shattered plates, stone and soil creating a jagged rim outlining the fault as if it was caused by something unnatural.

Some distance from the fault, an encampment with a few structures stood out in the open. There did not seem to be much to note about the encampment aside it from appearing to be newer to the area. Roofing was made from simple cloth to provide shading while the stalls had basic wooden structures. However, despite such a lack of structure, it did appear bustling with activity. On the outskirts there were dense forests, a waterfall in the distance and mountains all outlining the field. A picture perfect scene but, the scent of blood still carrying you forward and towards the encampment at that.

Yae'Gura
Upon arrival to the camp, there were many conversations taking place and people walking around casually as if at ease. No one particularly seemed to notice you or take note that you were new. Some people were distinctively other hunters carrying large swords, or handcrafted rifles, while others seemed to have an unsure feel about them or their relation to the area. A breeze travelled through and the sound of the cloth whipping in the wind from the roofing could be heard throughout. There were a few food stalls, an armory, simple shops and what appeared to be a large open fire grill of sorts where people gathered to cook, eat and drink. At some locations, you could hear people hammering as if building even more stalls. Somewhere in the center of the encampment was a strange area of people looking at strange artifacts or monster parts, their area more closed off in something like a large tent.
Click Below
Panicked, a woman ran through a crowd while politely excusing herself -"Excuse me. Sorry. Pardon me." With hair against the breeze, shimmering black locks flowed behind her as she rushed to the center of the encampment before entering under the tent which has a simple wooden sign staked to the ground labeled "Research Team". Inside, flooring was dug out leaving it as a solid, dirt square with some blue and gray carpeting lining the center. Tables lined around with different artifacts or samples of sorts, people were busy at work talking amongst themselves. Marabel slowed her pace, recollected herself and approached an older gentleman that stood towards the back of the tent. There were a few others surrounding him that belonged to the research team.

"Mr. Yaeger!" she half-shouted towards the gentleman to gain his attention. "Is it true, another one those things were found in the forest?"
Yaeger nodded his head as the members of his team dispersed and went to their tables to continue working. Marabel stood in disbelief that such things have been reoccurring more often.
"Yes, it is true. You must remain quiet about it as the last thing we need is everyone in a panic. We're not sure where the infected monster is, but for now, you should refrain from gathering ingredients from that area. We don't have the resources to send out a search team for you, young lady."
She disregarded his later comment about her refraining from heading out, she was so close to a new recipe - but she knew the dangers as well. One she may be willing to take. "I understand. What is the next course of action?"
Yaeger brushed his white, fluffy beard with his hand as if in thought. He was not sure if telling her was the wisest choice or let alone if he had the right decision. "We have a few hunters patrolling the area. For now, it's a waiting game." The elderly man walked away to attend to other things leaving Marabel behind to her own thoughts.

With a soft sigh, disappointment lingered from his response. She turned around and walked out the tent, another breeze causing her simple green dress to press against her legs. Her hair whipped across her eyes causing her to tuck it behind her ears. Marabel began walking the aisles deep in thought on how she wanted to go about finishing her recipe and if she should ignore Yaeger's warnings. Then, another idea popped in her head, and another. Her brain was in overdrive, too distracted to immediately notice others.

~Blood and Kor...~
Kor.png

In the distance on a hill stood a tree which has a slight decent view of the encampment. On a large thick branch stood a six foot wild man, armed with a stringed lance. His hair slightly blew in the wind, and his fingers ran down the strings of theorbo lance making a nasty low hissing sound followed by a eerie rumbling noise which grew like a rolling thunder. Bright yellow eyes looking down a hungry grin. He let out a few laughs as he leaped down from the tree. There were a few beast tracks in the area, but none of which Kor saw looked any bit recent.

He began making his way to the encampment with his devilish grin plastered across his face. If anyone would notice him, they would notice who he really is. No curtains, no filters and nothing to the imagination. He was Kor, loud and true. Closer and closer he got. He threw his lance over his shoulder and held it with his left the end with his left hand. He eventually arrived at the encampment albeit slowly walking. Casually taking his time. An air of confidence surrounded him. He walked like he owned the place. Anyone standing near him, careful not to walk behind him and accidentally get swatted by the back end of his lance. Not that Kor thought any more of him self than anyone else. He still had some humbleness to him and would immediately apologize if anyone did bump into his lance. He got some looks and glances, but mostly people continued their conversations and moved on with life. They had things to do and so did he.

'Research Team' a sign read out. He looked at the sign. Placing his thumb and index finger to his chin as he read it. He heard a conversation going on and decided to eavesdrop. Albeit he stood out like a sore thumb. He heard something about an infected monster...? Kor stood up, pretending not to notice the older man walk by, but was clearly watching him through the corner of his eye.

"OooooOOOooooOOOOH HAHAHAHA! Sneaky." Kor let out, believing himself to be slick, as the old man went by, not paying any mind to him. Now fully turned to look at the man as soon as he walked by. Back facing him. Though more curious, he saw the girl in the green dress leave the tent and walk away. Where was she going? Kor was feeling particularly nosey today, and decided to follow. Roughly 10-15 ft away.

NADIA CROSS || RANGER

Nadia had arrived at camp a few days prior, and it had taken everything in her not to turn around and walk right back out when she saw how bubbling with people it was. The pull to this area that she'd been feeling lately proved to be the stronger of the two urges, so she remained. The camp was a bustling place, more akin to cities Nadia made a point to pass through quickly than the sleepy towns she was used to. There was a frenetic air to the place, with all sorts of people building things or making conversation. There was an air of excitement about the place. As if they all hadn't been drawn to a place where a good amount of them would probably never leave.

She spent the first few days just watching. The people, the weapons, the buildings going up. There was a formidable lot of people here. It was difficult not to make the comparison to a war camp before they headed off for battle. Maybe they were considering the size of that fault in the earth.

Perched atop a barrel with one leg curled up to her chest, Nadia watched even now. A bit of apple juice ran down her cheek as she crunched into an apple and she wiped it away with her thumb. The wind tugged at her wide-brimmed hat and she had to grab at it with her free hand to keep it on. Her quiet observation was interrupted by the sight of a young woman barreling through the crowd, whom quickly ducked into the Research Team's tent.

Curiosity piqued, Nadia wrapped the remainder of her apple in cloth and shoved it into her bag. She pushed off the barrel to follow, but didn't need to go much more than a few paces to eavesdrop with the way the girl near shouted what she had to say. The reply was garbled, lost between the sound of the wind and the muffle of the tent. And probably the bulk of the man standing just outside the tent being much more blatant in his eavesdropping than Nadia was.

Nadia hung back, waited until the girl exited the tent, and then quickly followed her.

"Excuse me, miss?" Nadia asked, quickening her step so she could keep pace with the black-haired girl. "Pardon my interruption, but what was that you were saying about a thing found in the forest?" She shifted the rifle on her back. Watching and getting a lay of the land was well and good, but after a few days, Nadia was getting restless and eager to be out in the wilderness.

El was not one who usually sought blood. But it called to him all the same, forcing him to change his plans and follow its trail like a bloodhound enraptured by a scent. The need bothered him - he knew hunting monsters was necessary, but he'd never sought violence this way. But it was primal call that had his instincts on high alert and his feet trodding along a well-beaten path. The footsteps were recent, the wildlife minimal. Signs of human activity - but what a bunch of people were doing out here in the wilderness he wasn't sure of.

He shifted the familar weight of his sword as he found people - they were building some sort of rudimentary fence, likely to dissuade any unwanted visitors from coming in. When he raised a hand in greeting, they just waved him ahead. "Just head down, they'll fin' a use fer ye."

El wasn't sure what they meant, but he shrugged it off and continued on. Stalls were being put up, some were doing business (shelter or none). A strange milieu was gathered here. It was easy to spot fellow hunters - they carried their weapons like it was another limb - but there appeared to be more scholarly folk flitting in and out of tents, lugging around bags of things and books that weighed a bushel of apples. A curious bunch. He wasn't sure who to approach and ask why he was summoned in the first place. So he did what he did best: he sat at near a campfire.

And simply waited.

Caught off-guard from another's approach, Marabel hesitated for a moment before gathering her composure. She was not prepared for conversation while she was pondering new recipes. Marabel slowed her pace before coming to a complete halt and facing the person, their hat caught the most of her attention.

With a quick brush of the hand, pushing strands of her hair away from her face so she could see the person before her. "Yes, a thing was found but there's no name for this phenomenon yet." Marabel lowered her tone, whispering to the person. "They're supposedly monsters who have gone crazy, restless. I'm not sure of the full details though. I'm just aware they are far more dangerous than those not under this - horrible influence. " With a slight sigh, "It's a shame because I really needed in the forest to gather ingredients."

Marabel has been around the encampment for a good moment and had met many people that have come through. But, she did not recognize the person before her. "I'm sorry. I don't think we have met before. I'm Marabel, an enchanter and herbalist. You are?"

In the distance, towards the forest, a flock of birds appeared spooked fleeing the area. Their cries caught Marabel's attention before she looked back at the person before her. This wasn't an unusual occurrence with monsters running rampant at times but was a good indicator that something was awake. However, Marabel paid no true mind to it.

Kor watched the ranger approach the enchanter. He loudly and audibly cleared his throat, and turned to face the trees deeper in the woods. This behavior made a man trip and fall in surprise as he turned to look at a back facing Kor in anger and confusion. He rubbed his back, giving Kor a disapproval glance before turning head and resuming his duties.

Kor was in the zone. The ranger and enchanter exchanged words. He did not know either of them, but he continued to listen anyways. Even believing he was still stealthy. Did they know each other? Kor didn't know either of them, so he had no way of knowing. He scratched his chin. Then began to look around. Clearly he wasn't listening to their conversation because he wasn't looking in their direction.

"Phemomenom... Encanter... Huh...?" Kor repeating words that he heard, under his breath. Monsters came up in the conversation. Looking for ingredients too. Kor wasn't scared of monsters. Ingredients though. That's plant stuff. Some edible and delicious. Others nasty and left a bad taste in Kor's mouth. Some were crudely drawn and marked on Kor's list of 'DON'T EAT!!!'. A bright colorful mushroom that made Kor sick to his stomach was mentioned twice on this list. but that was besides the point. Clearly this person needed help, and who better than Kor? he turned his head to look over at the two, and began to walk in their direction. Left hand still holding onto his weapon, and his right hand gesturing to them with a friendly grin.

"No need to be scared of monsters when Kor is here!" He said slapping his bare chest. He turned to look at the two of them, then put his hand to his hip.

"You get your lil flower whats-its and Kor will keep you safe from the monsters. Problem solved!" Kor said unaware of the gravity of the situation. He had not been around the camp enough to know about the threat.

Aster
The morning sun reflected off of Aster's goggles as he made his way into town. He was assigned to patrol overnight. Of course, Aster viewed this as beneficial because he took the time to forage for different ingredients, test out a few of his gadgets, and document his hypotheses on the potential change in the behavior of the monsters. Locked into his notes, Aster forgot to pull off his costume. At the moment he just looked like a walking shrub, the only thing making him distinguishable from a random monster was his goggles picking out above the foliage.

Aster passed through the bustle of the other as if the constant movement was completely familiar. Plopping himself down in front of the campfire. It was barely alive, mostly embers, but Aster was too engrossed in his notes to notice otherwise," The foliage disguise was a simple success, lesser monsters ignored, but when spritzed with the smell of the greater beast the lesser are deterred from me...I did not check if this creature was in its mating season...I wonder if this would attract a beast of the opposite sex!?" A big grin spread across the young hunter's face. Simple findings were catalysts for greater finds, which in itself is a catalyst for Aster's joy. Leaning in the direction of the hunter across from him,"Isn't this amazing! The potential greatness is upon on! ISN'T THAT AMAZING AH- Uh....Who are you!?"

NADIA CROSS || RANGER

Monsters that had gone wilder than they already were was a cause for concern. Nor did they really fit her skillset, at least not while she was alone. She was more a stakeout and wait for the perfect moment person rather than deal with the rampaging monster tearing up the countryside kind of person. Nadia glanced the girl up and down. Judging by the lack of armor or weaponry, the girl didn't seem much like a deal with the wild monster kind of person either.

"Nadia," she replied, "Nice to meet you, Marabel. I only arrived in camp a few days ago." She offered her hand, but lost the gesture halfway as the flock of birds startled over the towering trees in the distance. Carefully, she made note of the location. With all this talk of monsters going crazy, it would be wise to keep an extra eye on any movement from the nearby forest.

"You're not planning to go in there to get ingr--"

She was cut off abruptly by the loud man she'd spotted eavesdropping earlier. Nadia frowned. He was… loud. And apparently hyperfixated on his own name.

"Kor, is it? I was just saying to Marabel here it would probably be unwise to go down into a situation we know nothin' about. Surely the camp here must be looking for folk to go investigate whatever is causing more monster activity down in the forest, though." Nadia nodded towards the flock of birds flying off above the forest. "At least, I heard there was supposed to be work here. Or are we all just gathering and waiting here?"

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a man approaching them. Marabel furrowed her brows out of slight confusion before giving a slight wave back from the friendly gesture. This was someone she had surely never seen before and he stood out like a sore thumb as if almost coming from a whole other world or time. At least, that is how he kind of made it seem. "No need to be scared of monsters when Kor is here!" He said slapping his bare chest. The sudden slap caused Marabel to jump back a little in fright before glancing at Nadia then back to Kor. "You get your lil flower whats-its and Kor will keep you safe from the monsters. Problem solved!" Kor said. Such an outspoken man, but instead of letting it bother Marabel, she let out a small laugh as if she just heard something funny. Though, perhaps she was truly amused by such a person as there is never reason to always be a stick in the mud. At least, that is what she believed. Or are we all just gathering and waiting here?" Marabel spoke up when Nadia spoke of work. "Yes, there is tons of work here depending what you are looking to get into. And- by the sounds of it, I have just the line of work!"

Marabel lifted up a piece of her dress, towards her side, that revealed a cloaked pocket. Something the naked eye would not have been able to notice as her dress all just blended into looking like one piece of cloth. Perhaps her dress had more purposes than meets the eye. Within the pocket were a few, small delicately leaf wrapped parcels tied with a simple string, and she pulled one of them out. "You see, I am a herbal confectioner. I make sweet treats out of herbal, natural ingredients. They're called Mara'Pops, but some of them also have beneficial properties or damaging effects." She said as she untied the parcel revealing medium sized balls of leaves. "This one here is my standard berry pop. It's more a treat than anything but my favorite." She pointed to one that had a burgundy leaf wrapped around it. "Then this one is my Hydra Pop, great for cooling down along while hydrating and has a slight, frothy melon taste. Go on. Try one." She pointed to another with looked almost pastel green. Glancing at Nadia, "and, yes - I am planning on going into the forest. I need to gather more ingredients and test out another pop. Something that will put small monsters in a bind for a moment to help others escape.... a Gympie Pop named after the plant Gympie Gympie. It's said that even just touching this plant can cause agony and force you to vomit [paralysis]. Thought it would be good to use on weapons like a coating or bullet. No more Ms. Nice Gal for these monsters!" She chuckled to herself at the sound of her idea for a name. "So, what do you say? Will you join Kor and I?" Marabel thought there was no point in asking Kor, he already volunteered without even thinking.

Like El expected, it didn't take long for someone to join him. With everyone bustling, anyone who wasn't doing anything would eventually catch their attention, especially if they had an unfamiliar face.

He hadn't expected it to be a talking bush though.

It seemed the moving plant hadn't noticed him yet, babbling to themselves. He let them speak, keeping his ears on their words while his eyes continued to scan his surroundings. Aelina figured out pretty quickly that the man was a scholar of some sort - only someone like them would get that excited over findings of the sort. El backed off a little when they leaned into him, asking if it was amazing - before their enthusiasm was quickly curbed by the realization he was a stranger.

"Just call me El," he said. "If you ask me, I don't think spritzing yourself with the scent of a monster is ideal. Have you seen how wild animals fight over their mate?"

With a broad hand, he gestured towards the leaves on the person across him. "I don't know if you realized but I think you're still in disguise. Where is this place, anyway?" Using that same hand, he gestured broadly towards the surroundings. "There's both researchers and hunters, but a lot of the hunters look like they're not sure why they're here. Only the book people are moving with any sort of purpose." He frowned, disliking it. El didn't mind going through here to appease his curiosity, but unless something else came up soon, he'd leave.

Kor chuckled as he heard Nadia speak, giving her doubts of going into the wild. He took a step forward, then cleared his throat, before turning his attention towards her.

"See. That's where I disagree. While I'm not entirely sure what's out there... I will say going out there is way better than waiting for it to come to us" Kor said. He paused to think for a moment, before taking a slight step back.

"And if whatever out there is as bad as you or that old codger I saw earlier talk about whats-its then we don't have to confront it. We're all hunters so we should be able to outsmart and avoid danger. Even these dangers! " Kor explained his line of reasoning. Then Maribel spoke. He turned his attention to her. Watched her lift a piece of her dress revealing a pocket. This manner of storing items reminded him of a certain monster, but he couldn't remember the name to it. Though he wasn't going to outright tell her that. he was dumb. Not stupid. It certainly showed, given he didn't quite understand a few of the words she was saying. With his hand pressed against his chin and a vacant expression across his face, he nodded his head. Agreeing and pretending to have understood her.

"Hmph! Gympie Gympie" Kor mused under his breath. It didn't sound too dangerous to him. Vomiting. Paralysis. Did that compare to having your guts ripped out by a monster? By that poor logic, Kor thought he'd be just fine if he touched it. He grinned as he imagined himself ripping the plant straight out of the ground to the others cheering him on. A glorious thought and further proof how great he is.

"Yes! Join us on this glorious adventure. The hunt!" Kor said waving his arm towards the wilds.

NADIA CROSS || RANGER

While she was uneasy of the idea of going into a monster battle with what seemed to be an unseasoned crew, Nadia perked up when Marabel pulled out her confections. The were delicate looking things, clearly made with love and care, and Nadia took one of the Hydra Pops when offered to her. She bit one in two so she could see the insides and nodded thoughtfully as a cool sensation ran through her. Handy.

"Deadly herbs, hm? I'm fond of the more deadly variety myself," Nadia said and briefly flashed a wicked grin. Back home, she used to have a patch of bitter nightshade and jimsonweed she used to tend to. Nowadays, though, it was easier to harvest the solutions she needed from monsters themselves.

Nadia took a moment, regarding her two new hunting companions, and gently sighed. "Well, I suppose I will join then. Can't let you two have all the fun." She had at least ten years on these two, and perhaps that much more hunting experience. Though she knew she'd slowed down some, she was at least thankful to have lost her misconceptions that she was invincible.

"As strong as you look," she said to Kor and then nodded to Marabel, "And as handy in a pinch you might be, I wouldn't mind another person or two to round out our little crew here before we go into parts unknown."

Nadia pursed her lips and glanced around the camp. There were a lot of people here, and while most seemed eager for something to happen, none quite looked ready to go right that moment. Hell, one was running around in some sort of makeshift bush costume. Right next a campfire too. He was liable to catch fire like that. The person next to him might do though. That sword on him made him look like a frontlines kind of hunter, which was always useful with backliners in a group.

"What about that one?" Nadia asked, motioning towards the man with the sword. "Next to the bush with legs."

"Yes! Join us on this glorious adventure. The hunt!" Kor said waving his arm towards the wilds. Marabel smiled at Kor's enthusiasm though she was having a hard time getting a true read on him. He seemed like he new what he was talking about, but she also had this lingering feeling her might be slightly reckless. She wasn't sure how to feel about Kor, but nontheless, he seemed friendly and that is all she really cared about. "And as handy in a pinch you might be, I wouldn't mind another person or two to round out our little crew here before we go into parts unknown." Nadia mentioned. Marabel wasn't against the idea and agreed with a slight nod as she tried to determine where Nadia was looking.

There were a lot of hunters and more arrived each day following the same familiar scent - that of which was blood. It was a phenomenon that Yaeger and his team could not determine why as there were never claims of the scent among them. Something was drawings these people to the location and Yaeger has been convinced it was the fault in the Earth. It was deep, wide and reached for miles as if a horrendously large monster slashed the ground in a fight. Perhaps the fault had released a sort of gas underneath or something was awoken.

"What about that one?" Nadia asked, motioning towards the man with the sword. "Next to the bush with legs." Pinpointing where Nadia was referencing to, Marabel tilted her head and appeared confused. "A bush, with legs?" she asked. "What a strange little costume, I wonder what purpose it serves in a place like this." Then, she glanced over to the person with a sword next to the bush-person. If the person with the sword joined them, it could make for a swifter end to a monster - if there was good coordination between them and Kor. Not knowing anyone's skills or capabilities was as dangerous as not knowing the monster they were dealing with. "It looks like they are both in conversation, perhaps they know each other or a pair. Perhaps we should approach them both with our proposal. Worst they can say is 'no' I would think." There was no point in trying to object the idea of people joining as they were all strangers with unknown skill levels. Surely, hopefully, at least one of them head a good head on their shoulders. Time will only tell on how the mission will go. Looking over to Kor, she gave a slight playful nudge and a smile. "You'll play fair, right?" But, her question carried more of a reason behind it than a joke. At this time, Marabel had no awareness he was a beast caller and had only assumed he was a warrior.

Kor squinted his eyes. Leaning side to side, trying to get a peak deeper into the woods, just beyond the trees that ever so slightly blocking his gaze.

"Burn it" Kor said not knowing what a bush with legs is. He turned to look at Nadia, then with a look of suspicion, he turned to see the sword wielding figure and the bush with legs.

"When nature caaalls" Kor said looking down at it in a gruff tone. He took a good look at both of them. Silently judging them. It were as if he was staring deep into their souls. His always present blood thirsty grin turned into a cold serious expression. A look that rarely met his face. After a few moments he nodded as if they passed some sort of test of sort. His smile returned. He turned towards Marabel.

"I like them. We're bringing them, right? Just look at that one! Ready to go and everything!" He said pointing at the bush.

Aster smiled brightly at El, although his disguise would obviously cover but his over all positive energy could probably be felt,"Well, how do you do El! Aster's the name and discovery is my game!" Aster chuckled to himself as he tucked away his notebook. With all of the foliage, it may appear as if he was randomly placing his things. Aster perked up at the comment about monster mates,"THAT IS EXACTLY WHY IT IS IDEAL! If we are able to harness the different essences of monsters consistently, we'll be able to assist beast callers in the field and if the hunter is smart they could trick monsters into fighting each other! The first step to greatness is always small!" Even under his bush disguise, Aster was positively bursting with excitement.

"I don't know if you realized but I think you're still in disguise. Where is this place, anyway?"

Aster's upper body popped up in slight surprise,"Oh!" With a simple tug, Aster pulled his disguise off with one simple motion revealing his golden bronze skin, with a tattoo on his right bicep that trails under his shirt. Aster followed El's guiding hand as he gestured to the rest of the encampment. His excited smile dropped, replaced with a face of stoicism,"Now...That is a mystery...Research on this phenomenon is still in the early stages, but from what we have discovered is that people are being drawn here by the scent of blood...And I did say people, including me...and you. And if you don't believe me, ask yourself...Why this area I bet it will be related to the incessant smell!"

"I like them. We're bringing them, right? Just look at that one! Ready to go and everything!"

"It seems they have taken an interest in you. They may be going on a hunt," Aster hadn't full absorbed the group in his sight, but when his eyes landed on Marabel, which brought a slight smirk to his face,"Now, if you need information she might be the person you go to! She was here before me, but I haven't had a chance to pick her brain, but her products are to die for!"

"I'm not saying the idea is without merits," El said, "I'm just saying it's not the brightest idea to apply it on a person. If they get pounced on, it would spell badly for everyone involved." He could already imagine the bush in front of him in the mouth of a monster, getting dragged into its den. That would not end well once he was found out.

Aster's answer to his question provided nothing he didn't already surmise for himself. He should've known better than to ask someone who ran around dousing themself with monster pheromone. He would've looked elsewhere - except others seem to have found them already. A loud, booming voice called out to them pointing at his companion as if he were wares for sale. Considering the costume he had on mere moments ago, not too far of a comparison.

"She was?" His blue eyes assessed the group making their way over, trying to gauge their intentions. "I don't mind going on a hunt, but I don't know these people. We'll change that soon enough, I guess."

When they came within normal voice earshot, Aelina stood and raised a hand in greeting. "El. You looking for more people for a hunt?" He shifted the weight of his sword onto his left side as he decided what to do. "I can go if you need another hand. I don't have much going on at the moment." He'd go on this hunt, and if this black-haired woman provided more useful answers than Aster, then maybe he would find a reason to stick around. As it was, the chances of him staying were growing bleaker by the second. "What is it for?

NADIA CROSS || RANGER

Ah, they were going to get two for one then. She was a bit skeptical of the man in the bush costume. Or rather, the man that was now formally in the bush costume. Nadia picked at the leather strap her rifle was attached too and just hoped that the bush costume would not be making an appearance once they got into the wild proper. Having camouflage was one thing, but that was something else.

She nodded her head in greeting to the two other hunters as the approached and studied the sword a little closer. Hefty thing. She didn't think she could even lift that thing much less swing it.

"Apologies for the less that polite greeting. I'm Nadia. We were hoping another hunter or two wouldn't mind joining us," Nadia began, "Marabel here wanted to go into the forest to find a particular plant. Something that's supposed to be particularly nasty to monsters, right?" She looked to Marabel for confirmation. "We just met ourselves, but I didn't feel right letting her go off all by herself."

Nor did Nadia think she could stop Marabel either. Or Kor, for that matter. Though he seemed determined to go in regardless of a goal.

Marabel just went with the flow with a smile as they approached the group, less work she had to do and felt please to know that more people wanted to help her gather ingredients. She probably couldn't do it on her own if there was a beast on the loose in such a state, but, doesn't mean she wouldn't try. Nadia briefly explained the situation to their new partners with Marabel giving a quick nod affirming her information. "Yes, that is correct. Nice to meet you, I am the herbalist here. I'm looking for a plant known as Gympie Gympie to test out another one of my creations. Something that will put small monsters in a bind for a moment. It's said that even just touching this plant can cause agony and force you to vomit [paralysis]. Thought it would be good to use on weapons like a coating or bullet. However, it is just as dangerous to us as it is to the monsters so there must be careful handling." She gave a quick glance at Kor before looking at the others.

Marabel's expression changed from pleased to serious in a moments notice before she became noticeably uneasy. "There is something you must know though." She paused for a moment. "There are monsters roaming that may not be as it seem. They are influenced by something unknown that makes them - crazy. I don't know how to explain it because I have never seen one for myself but the research team has been investigating the phenomenon. As we speak, there have been reports of one loose, but the scouts have not been able to relocate it after it escaped from their grasp." It was clear that she knew something more under that nervousness. Marabel had to hold back, for everyone but she refused to say anymore and instead played it off as she did not know anymore information. "I would understand if you felt you were not up for the task as it could be dangerous." She said to no one in particular, but as if to reconfirm with everyone.
  • Players will be entering a forest not far from the "Southern Gate" at the encampment, one where new members usually appear. Initiator can guide party into the forest as there are no specific entrances.
  • Said forest holds no special characteristics. Spotted sunlight and may appear darker in some areas due to the lack of sunlight. There can be ponds, wildlife, large amounts of flora, and unspecified noises.
  • Party can run into "extra small" monsters of their own creation that pose little to no threat. They do not hold enough significance to be in the Monster Index.
  • Characters who may have knowledge on ingredients or other flora can guide to Gympie Gympie or other important ingredients - like berries. Otherwise, Marabel will take lead.
  • Monster in question will appear in sunny areas, or humid parts of the forest. They prefer the heat, or where there are undefended carcasses.
  • Monster is influence by an unknown phenomenon. This creature will stand out from others through an odd scent of blood - almost as if rotted, differ from the one that guided you to the encampment. Has undefined open wounds either on face and/or on body. They can look as if another monster attacked, but their shape is too defined as if acid was poured on them. Abnormal behavioral patterns. Not everyone may able to understand or notice the differences.
  • There will be no secondary monster at this time.
  • If given enough time, Marabel can create the toxin in a pinch given the plant is in possession and one "sticky substance".

Kor scratched his head in mild disbelief as he watched Aster talk. Kor hadn't the slightest clue what he was talking about. He turned to look at El, taking two steps towards him. One thing El said stood out to Kor. He put his hand on his hip.

"Good! Don't need to know, just hunt! Actions speak louder than words. We shall see what type of person you really are out there! Good luck!" Kor said smiling slightly wider. Without turning to look at her, Kor looked in Nadia's direction, but after hearing her introduction, he turned to look at Marabel. The same grin that always sat on his face was present when she gave him a quick glance.

"Right... Don't touch plant..." Kor said. In Kor's mind, he wondered if he could wear gloves to safely rip them out of the ground. Much like the imagination he had earlier, Kor imagined himself ripping the plant out of the ground, to the cheer and delight of the others, but now Kor was wearing gloves. Only problem was, when he snapped back into reality he realized he wasn't wearing gloves. Which killed that dream quickly. Kor grunted when she brought up crazed monsters again.

"Who was even assigned to investigate crazed monsters, and when do they come back? Surely they don't behave that much differently from their not crazed canterparts." Kor said mispronouncing counterparts. He was still holding onto some skepticism on the validity of the crazed beast threat. Though part of Kor did accept she may be correct. A fact he wasn't ashamed to admit when he was wrong. One thing he was confident about was his strength and readiness.

"I disagree. Doubt is a weakness that must be purged from the mind, body and spirit. You must never let your opponent see your short comings. A hunter is only as good as he believes himself to be. Never forget that when you're out there." Kor said, pointing towards the treeline. For a brief moment, he wasn't grinning when he spoke. But since this is Kor, of course he'd have the biggest smile smeared on his face before he left.

As the group introduced themselves, without saying a word Aster did a slight bow as a greeting. Marabel's explanation piqued Aster's interest causing him to think of different ways Gymmie Gymmie could be used on different weapons or mixed with different ingredients for completely different effects. When she glanced at Khor, Aster figured he was reckless but how could she know that if they just met, he wondered. Taking a closer look at Khor, Aster thought the man might have peed on him if he hadn't taken off his bush costume. The idea made Aster chuckle under his breath, "My name is Aster, nice to meet all of you. Question for you for Miss Marabel, do you think we could figure out a way to create a trap or gadget using this plant? Even if we can't I'm sure there are other ways it could be useful!" A smile spread across Aster's face as spoke and the excitement in his voice was very apparent.

When Marabel's tone shifted Aster's smile dropped as he listened intently. Khor was obviously skeptical of this information, any Hunter would be just based on the fact that monsters typically didn't change, at least not in such an extreme way that has been described, "I haven't been here as long as Marabel, but from what information I have collected the monsters' behaviors are so different that even veteran hunters were having a hard time. If their behavior is so sporadic, that hunters are not able to adapt then it could be dangerous," A smirk crept across Aster face at the mention of danger,"And with danger comes discovery! I would love to join you, Miss Marabel! I may need to pick your brain later"

The more they talked, the less Nadia felt she was suited to this job. She was getting on her years and tangling with a rampaging monster while running with a bunch of people suited to be up in front with the action seemed more and more like she might just be getting in the way.

Nadia pursed her lips. "Honestly, sounds like you might all have this in hand. I think I might let you go on. Maybe see if I can dig up some more information on this rampaging monster business. Best of luck to you all."

And with that, Nadia tipped her hat and left the group, disappearing among the throngs of other hunters in the camp.

El was happy to let them talk over him - he didn't have much to contribute seeing as he was so new. It was better to collect information via listening in on the few small nuggets of information Marabel was handing out. She remained sparing of the exact details on the monsters; either she didn't know much, or she'd been instructed by the higher ups to only disclose when necessary. Aelina wasn't familiar enough with her to know which one it was.

The scent of trampled grass and wet dirt enveloped the group as they trudged deeper into the forest. It was pleasant and familiar to El, almost his second home. He spent more nights sleeping under the stars than with the roof over his head.

"Do you have an extra set of gloves?" He asked. "I know how to handle them. It's probably best we get in and out quickly." El wasn't afraid of a fight, but he was wary of jumping into the fray with a bunch of people he only knew the first name of. The lack of information didn't help matters at all.

"Actually, isn't that some right over there?" He pointed towards some greenery around five meters to their right, barely peeking out from the dense underbrush. El began pushing aside some branches as they veered away from the footpath. "Watch where you step, I see some ivy growing around."
