The Royal Nightingales. Incredibly elite, highly trained, and skilled in what they do. Joining the ranks of the Nightingales is easily the greatest honor a dedicated fighter could attain. It is the Special Ops of the Royal Army. There are many many paths to walk. Will you stick to the art of valiance, chivalry, and headstrong courage, or do you prefer to unlock the secrets of the shadows? Do you want to charge in head-first, or do you prefer the delicate art of waiting for that perfect strike from afar? More Armor to become an impenetrable mobile fortress, or none to become as quick as the wind? Do you want to push your brain to its limits by learning to manipulate the natural phenomena, or do you do your best in pushing yourself to your physical limits?
- Magician- "The world will conform to my word and my will."
- Fighter- "Walking with one's own mortality will let you kill the being known as limitation."
- Ranger- "Lie in wait. One shot, one kill."
- Rogue- "In the shadows I walk, from the shadows I strike."
- Engineer- "We used our mind to harness magic. Time for what we create to harness magic as well."
- Scout- "I know you better than you know yourself!"
- Tamer- "That's a good boy...........now SIC HIM!"
- Medic- "Down, eh? Well, you're not out just yet."
From here, the paths expand greatly. Ninjas, Eldritch Knights, Scholars, Snipers, Paladins, Magitech Engineers, etc. The paths are endless. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. The world is a hard place and you're walking down a harsh road. Forget everything you've read in the legends, which really only highlight their greatest exploits. The day to day life is grueling, full of training, briefs, and lesser dangers. One must always be patient and wait for their moment to shine. Only then are legends made. One can't go to school and learn how to be a civilized fighter for society, only how to regurgitate the doctrine. Trying to go out and be great with no training, however and you'll just end up a lowly merc who slays slime for a few bronze coins. You want to be greater than that. You want to be a Nightingale and become legendary
The King of Ishrion has issued a proclamation to expand training efforts to supercharge recruit training, available to anyone who is at least a teen. You have passed the basic tests and are now in a trainee's guild, shadowing and training under the greats in the kingdom. You will run operations for the king, do your own side work, learn the ins and outs of what it means to be part of the Nightingales, both on and off the battlefield. Chivalry, peace-talking, effective fighting tactics, leadership, the meaning of defeat and the power of mercy. Unlike the classes, you are NOT placed in groups that are specific to your skillset. Your team will consist of people from all paths who want to end up at the same place
All of your tests, those grueling moments and times in all types of terrain and survival situations, will all culminate in one grand undertaking with your Trainee Guild: Defeat, Slay, or Tame a Dragon. That is the one and only prerequisite to becoming part of the Nightingales. After this, you can truly call yourself one of the best .
