Sometimes it just in general or in a teasing gesture. Mera neutral about this nickname, she takes pride in it on occasions.
  • Partner in crime = Glaunir, a friend of her, has taken to calling her as such. The two of them are similar in certain areas and the two are rarely seen apart. "aristocratic lady"

Age: 32

Looks:
Mera is a short woman, only coming up to about 5'0 and weighs about 115lbs. She has pale skin with long bright red hair which she usually keeps in a braided crown and a single braid that goes down the middle. She has large dark green eyes with full lashes, she tends to wear a white sweater with a dark cloak over it to keep her warm during the cold months. She likes to wear a pair of deep grey leggings, brown leather boots, and a leather belt looped around her waist. She has doubled pierced ears with a blue jewel in the first piercing and she tends to wear a blue jeweled necklace around her neck.

Clothing:

Race:
Man

Languages:
Rohirric, Westron

Personality:
Mera can be a bit of a dream chaser, the young lady chasing after tales of old that was told throughout her childhood. She trusts in her instincts completely and follows them to the best of her ability. She has made some mistakes in the past but she doesn't let them weigh her down, she acknowledges that she's made those mistakes and learns from them. She is very socially active, going as far as speaking with complete strangers to 'make friends' as she puts it. It's how she was able to become friends with Glaunir, an elf she has met in the Prancing Pony. Her social activity has both gotten her in and out of trouble numerous times and will continue to do so most likely until the female has passed.

The redhead can be a bit impatient at times; preferring to get things finished quickly rather than waiting on having to do things. She does learn from her mistakes of rushing into things but other times she ends up ignoring the issue and taking things head-on with no repercussions. Mera is known to be emotionally vulnerable with certain situations; she's very in tune with her emotions and open about them with others. Despite some of her misgivings, the female can be very adaptable when needed. She doesn't tend to go completely to the plan but she can adapt if something were to happen that wasn't according to plan or if an issue were to come up. Mera is pretty flexible with things in general. Another thing Mera tends to have issues with is her memory, the redhead can be a bit forgetful at times. She can forget the name of someone she just met an hour ago, sometimes she even forgets her own age. You tell her to grab a certain plant, she takes one step and instantly forgets what it is, she usually ends up taking someone with her or writing the shit down before she leaves if she is able.

Family:
Alina- Mother
Oeric- Father
Torrad- Younger Brother
Gianna- Younger Sister

Bio:
Mera was born among the Easterlings in Aldburg of Rohan, daughter to Alina and Oeric. She has two younger siblings; A brother Torrad and a sister Gianna, whom she's older than by 4 years. She was raised during Sauron's uprising but was not affected too much by such, having left home at the age of 24 to travel and gain money for her large family. The only thing she had with her were the clothes on her back, a few weapons she was given when she became of age, and the necklace her mother had given her for her birthday. It was from her deceased grandmother. She tended to steer clear from anything that involved Sauron but ultimately agreed to help in aiding in his defeat when the time came for it.

At first, Mera camped out in Bree. Staying in the Prancing pony on nights she did not have any bounty's to be looking for. That all changed when she had met a hobbit lass by the name of Charlotte Bilberry who lived alone on the edge of the Shire. The sweet hobbit offered Mera a place to stay in exchange for helping around the house and gathering firewood that was needed during the colder months. Mera wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth and took her up on the offer, there she stayed and joined in on some of the celebrations she was allowed to when she wasn't off gathering any bounties that she had found of interest.

She has managed to get into many of shenanigans with the hobbit lass, some that she had been lectured at by said female, but most of them the two enjoyed. Whenever she gets the chance, Mera sends half of the money she's earned off to her family to help support them even if she's not there physically. The rest she uses to help buy groceries or necessities that she or Lottie would need. If nothing is needed she saves up for any weapon repairs or commissions for arrows for her bow she would be able to use in hunting or work.

Over the years Mera had become friends with a traveling elf from Rivendale; he had been on a journey to discover the world around him after coming of age. After meeting Mera it was over; the two butted heads at first. Glaunir and Mera ran into each other in Dale while the female was working on hunting down a murderer. The elf made her lose her target and she gave the poor male a chewing out, after that, they ended up seeing each other everywhere they went to the point the redhead was about to pull her hair out. In the end, Glaunir helped her out of a pickle she had gotten herself into (her target had buddies that ganged up on her) after that he traveled with her back to Bree and the two had become Partners in Crime ever since. Lottie put up quite the fit when she realized that she was going to be housing an elf as well as a human.

Weapons of choice:
  • She's pretty handy with a dagger
  • she knows how to use a bow but she tends to use it if she absolutely has to due to lack of money.
  • Short Sword
Crush:
Legolas Greenleaf

Extra:
  • she tends to be a trouble maker at times, she's known to help out the fauntlings during their tricks and play.
  • Mera adores animals and has had a couple of pets when she was younger.
  • she was taught how to fight by her father (when she was younger) and by a couple of men in Bree who were willing to teach her, most she learned on the job.
  • Mera has several scars littered across her upper torso and a few on her lower body from past missions/injuries.

Rayna of the Rhûnic People, daughter of Cyr and Saida.

Age
: 31
Race: Human; descending from the Easterlings, from Rhûn, among those convinced by Pallando the Blue Wizard to defy Sauron.

Appearance: Rayna stands at 5’6”, with long black hair that falls a bit beyond the middle of her back. Often it is kept up in a ponytail, or other updo. Her skin retains a tan from the sun and hotter climate of the East, a few darker freckles running across her body. She has light gray eyes, and a lightly-toned form – the way of the sword is new, but she’s always been an accomplished rider of horses. Her hands are only just starting to develop the callouses from swordplay.

Languages: Rhûnic, Westron/Common Speech, Black Speech, Orkish

Equipment: Usually has a spear, as well as a dark-metal scimitar. Tends towards leather armor rather than metal, although still prefers dresses and softer attire.

Has a red steed, named Aduri.

Brief History:
Rayna was born among the Easterlings in Rhûn, daughter to Cyr and Saida. She has one brother, Jahar, who is younger than she is by three years. Though they both grew under Sauron’s influence, and she learned the Black Speech in his service, they have both been convinced to defect – something their parents have, likely, disowned them for.

It was through the help of Pallando the Blue that they saw the error of Sauron’s ways, and began to understand that Sauron cared not for others, and all his promises would not be kept for long, if they were kept at all. Though Pallando resided in disguise himself, moving amongst parties that were loyal to Sauron, Rayna learned to trust the wizard and understand he was there to look out for them – because he was one of the few who thought they could be saved.

Who still saw their humanity, while others in the West saw them as little more than monsters in service to something dark, unaware that the thought they were on the right side.

It took a while to accept it, and to understand the lengthy history of the Third Age that brought them to this point, but Rayna’s own knowledge of the Black Speech was more help than hindrance, as was her willingness to learn the language of her enemies.

Sauron’s deceit became apparent through his rings, and how he dealt with other allies, and Rayna went out to tell the others of her clan. Her brother listened – and so did many other riders, but not all, unfortunately. They were forced to fight, and to flee west, though they were hunted a while by their own people.

Eventually, they were able to break into the West, which has left them with the troubling task: avoid being killed on sight, and find a way to join their once-foes, and help them against Sauron. With Rayna being the only one who speaks Westron fluently, she’s ended up the de facto leader of them while they are in these lands.

Mera
╚═══°∴,*⋅✲══〖✰〗══✲⋅*,∴°═══╝

Mera wasn't too concerned about the going on's in the Shire, she tended to stay out of their business less it be a festivity. That ended up being the case when one of Lottie's old family friend, Bilbo Baggins, was having his eleventy-first birthday and Lottie had invited her to the party of the evening. Who was she to say no to some good old fun, drinking, and the great spread of food that would be there waiting for them?

Now Mera had just finished witnessing Mr.Baggin's disappearing act, a good one too she might add, and at first, she had thought the old wizard Gandalf had put the older Hobbit up to it. That didn't turn out to be the case when she took a glance at the elder man dressed in grey robes and saw the most disturbing expression on his worn face. No longer were the smile lines bright and carefree they tended to be upon his visits to the Shire. The poor Wizard looked far older then and so worn that she had thought he would faint from the display that was put on before them by their local Baggins from Bag end.

That is where she ends up being dragged, or pretty much strong-armed by Lottie, to assist Frodo on his quest to destroy the one ring that had come into his possession. Mera would have put her foot down with Lottie but from her experience with the female Hobbits within the Shire, the redhead is aware that you do not want to have the ire of said woman less you end up with a sore ear and a good talking to.

The female was amused by the man named Aragorn, he seemed interesting enough for her to trust. For now at least. The male had led them out of Bree to continue their quest, it was when they had arrived within Rivendell did things become more difficult.

Mera went from enjoying herself at a nice little gathering for a Hobbit's birthday and now here she is, arriving at what is known as the gates of Rivendell with her wards. Arwen, the daughter of Elrond, had ridden off ahead of them with Frodo safe within her arms. The redhead will admit, it had taken her quite a while to reach their destination but she made it none-the-less. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by those on guard at the gates.

"Greetings, Mera at your service." she greeted them, the guards nodded in greeting but the third elf was the one who spoke

"Welcome Mera, I am Lord Elrond." the lord looked as if he would say more but he was interrupted by the Hobbits, "How is Frodo?" Sam piped up from her right

"Is he alright?" Came Merry from her left, "He's not dead is he?" Pippin exclaimed from his place next to Merry.

Mera gave them all a scolding look, "Where have all your manners gone to?" she questioned, although she couldn't blame them. They were worried about their friend's health.

The hobbits were concerned for their friend understandably so, Lord Elrond simply gave them a reassuring smile, "Your friend Frodo is safe. He is being seen to now by our healers but we believe he will be well in due time." He answered their questions and gestured for the group to follow them, "Come. I will show you to your rooms, feel free to use the baths and once you're done we will have a meal ready for you."

Mera gave the elf a grateful smile and followed him to their rooms for their stay, Elrond ensured them that he will keep them informed on Frodo's health. Mera decided to use her time to explore Rivendell, upon Lord Elrond's encouragement, and found herself exploring the large and beautiful garden within the city.

Mera found herself in thought, she had met some strange faces over the course of their stay within Rivendell. The bounty hunter had met elves in the past, most tend to go to Bree on occasions and that included Glaunir as well. Humans weren't that uncommon to see around Bree either and she had seen plenty during her travels around Middle-Earth. But, there remain one species she had yet to meet officially, and that was Dwarves.

Dwarves were secretive about their culture and seldom traveled within her main location so they were a sight to see, four bearded Dwarves had arrived within Rivendell and Mera isn't ashamed to admit that she may have stared for too long. Mera was a bit taller than Hobbits but the female now knew that she was also taller than most Dwarves, although a couple of the ones who arrived in Rivendale looked to be the same height as she. She wasn't for sure if she wanted to test out their rumored temper and ask to compare.

Aragorn
╚═══°∴,*⋅✲══〖✰〗══✲⋅*,∴°═══╝

Aragon wasn't for sure how he felt about the small female named Mera. Nor was he for certain on how he should feel about the Hobbits that managed to come into his possession. Luckily their human companion and the dark-haired hobbit, Frodo, put their trust in him during their stay within Bree long enough for them to manage their escape.

He led them to Rivendell, where his surrogate father Lord Elrond was located. They narrowly escaped with their lives, fighting off Nazgul's as they made way for the Ford of Bruinen for sanctuary. Frodo was taken by Arwen to Rivendell ahead of them, he and Mera fought off the wraiths to the best of their abilities but he could see that the Hobbit's injury affected the female deeply. The dark-haired male didn't press, he wasn't going to bother in business that wasn't his.

Both he and Mera thought it would be best that they split up, for the time being, it would give the redhead enough time to get the Hobbits to Rivendell safely and quickly. Aragorn would be following them a day behind, he would ensure that there were no stragglers following them.

It would be a three day trip to Rivendell from his current location but Aragorn wasn't a stranger to long travels, he gathered his packs that remained and his weapons then started his trek to Rivendell.

It had been two days since he first started his journey, he was roughly about 3 to 4 miles away from the Trollshaws and so far he hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary but was vigilant none-the-less. You never know who would sneak up on you unexpectedly.

The dark-haired male had stopped for the moment to take a break and drink from his waterskin, he was a day away from Rivendell and Aragorn only hoped Mera and the Hobbits made it to their destination safely.

Prince Legolas Greenleaf of Mirkwood had arrived before the dwarves, standing out from many of the elves in Rivendell with his lighter locks. His arrival had not been related to the reasons that the dwarves arrived, but now that he was informed of the situation, he opted to stay and hear more, if only so he could take the information back to his father.

He was sent instead to tell of Gollum, who had been captured by the forces of Mordor – and released.

They had seen the movement of orcs and nazgul, and parties were dispatched both to Rivendell and Lothlorien, to help them understand the situation, and determine if they needed to go out and warn others.

The alliance with Men had seemingly ended some time ago, but it was not forgotten – and anything involving Sauron, and the Ring, had to be spoken of.

Now that he was here, he knew more: the Ring was in Rivendell itself, carried by a hobbit, and there was going to be a council to determine the next steps, when all had arrived.

Men, it seemed, were the slowest to arrive, as they still waited on the Steward of Gondor, and his old friend, Aragorn, son of Arathorn, though he understood that Aragorn at least was not far, and had split from the party of hobbits to better protect them. Arwen had told him as much, and he would trust her more than anyone about Aragorn’s location, and safety.

So it was that Legolas bided his time after sharing his information with Elrond, that he came to roam Rivendell and take it in, a light smile on his face only momentarily dampened at the sight of the dwarves. His nose wrinkled a bit but he just moved by them.

He was told there had been another human in the hobbits party, a woman of red hair, so it was not hard to notice her amongst the flowers, “Greetings, Mera,” he called, and recognized afterwards that she likely would not know him. He put on a smile, “Forgive me, I am Legolas of Mirkwood, I hear you were with my friend, Aragorn, and the hobbits that have arrived here. I wanted to pass on my thanks for seeing them here.”

~***~

The nazguls were moving.

That was enough to worry the group that had crossed from the Rhûn, into the lands of Gondor, and beyond. So far, they had managed to move along without attracting attention, their scouts making that easier to avoid. Once they had passed beyond Gondor, that became a bit trickier.

They couldn’t move closer to Orc encampments now without being questioned. Their garb and appearance, not to mention the language of most, would draw unwanted attention. So, a party was left after passing through the gap of Rohan, allowing others to go along and find the aid they needed to finally separate from Sauron, and help those who would stand against him.

That group remained within Eryn Vorn, where they found folk willing to work with them after the letter of Pallando the Blue was shown and verified for what it was. Thankfully, the area around was also not so densely populated, and they were able to learn where it was some of the elves were – if only because the Eryn Vorn feared them.

So it was that Rayna of the Rhûn was among a smaller group, looking for Rivendell. She had made her way North, and found the evidence of the nazgul attack on top of what was known as Weathertop, but seemed only ruins to her. That was when the fear truly started to grip those with her, and they set a second encampment near Weathertop, to scout from, and return to.

Rayna was on scouting duty.

She should have returned a day ago, but she had recognized an encampment near three stone trolls, and now sought to follow the path that was smaller.

Best to find an individual, rather than a group.

Although a horse was not a subtle companion – and though she knew this, she did not dismount, but continued on, hoping not to find an arrow coming her way as the trail seemed to become fresher. Whoever it was, they were on foot – which gave her an advantage so far as catching up was concerned.
