— THE WALKING DEAD ...
based on the comic/show/game

01. basis.

I haven't specifically seen a TWD themed group rp so I decided to make one. Hopefully you are well-versed in the TWD world, but here are the main things you have to know:

1. We refer to them as Zombies Walkers.
2. You can turn into a walker even if you don't get bit. We are all infected with the disease so if someone dies they will turn into a walker eventually.
3. You can get bitten, but prevent yourself from turning if you sever the limb that was bitten. In other words, if you are bitten on an arm or leg, you can still have a chance if you choose to live on. If you get bit on the neck or stomach.....you're a goner. (I think this will become knowledge to the characters later if one gets bit.)
4. They travel in herds a lot of the time especially in big cities or following main roads.

We can all sort of brainstorm the initial setting together, just wanted to post this as an interest check mainly.

02. rules.

RULES 01.

1. Please be literate. I'm going to assume you all will understand that. Quality over quantity. I'm not strict at all, but just understand it is difficult to Roleplay if someone contributes lazily to their posts. I don't care about run-on's really just make sure they made sense lol.

2. There will be lots of gore -- include that in your writing. Details help in visualizing as realistic as possible.

3. No overpowered characters. Everyone has a weakness - it's the apocalypse.

4. 1-2 characters per person max. Unless you're playing npcs briefly of course.

5. I envisioned this as all original characters, but you can Roleplay as anyone you want from the comic/show/game. I think that would be really fun.

History: Haewon was born in Busan, South Korea, to a happy couple. Her father worked at the ports whereas her mother was a teacher at Gwangen Elementary School. The two were well off and tried to give their only child the best childhood they could. They indulged every hobby she had, no matter how short-lived.

However, when Haewon was five, her younger sister was born as the result of an affair. Their father left them behind and her mother's mental health began to decline. At first, Haewon resented her sister for tearing their family apart, but she began to take on the role of her guardian. Their mother had become neglectful, they didn't have enough food to eat, their mother had turned to drugs and practically thrown their money away. Haewon had to do all she could to keep her and her sister fed.

When their mother began to turn to strangers for affection, bringing unfamiliar men to their home, Haewon decided enough was enough. She got into contact with her aunt, Do-Yun, who had moved to America before Haewon would even remember. She was quite distraught at her sister's behaviour and helped Haewon and her younger sister escape their mother and travel to America to live with her.

Do-Yun was a busy woman, keeping two jobs to stay afloat, but she tried her best to look after the two of them. Haewon was happy to keep raising her sister, all Do-Yun had to do was provide food and shelter and the two were content.

Do-Yun died early on in the apocalypse, leaving Haewon and her sister alone once more.
Strengths: Haewon is happy to go on scavenging trips, she isn't scared to leave the base. She's also pretty nimble and small so if anybody needs to get into small spaces, she's happy to do it. She doesn't like to sugar coat things, she'll tell you the truth if you ask for it. She also has a high pain tolerance.
Weaknesses: She has a soft spot for her sister and will put others in danger if it means saving her sister. She angers easily and is prone to making rash decisions. Adults often see her as rude and disrespectful and she never got on well with her teachers.
Likes: Spicy food, night time, skateboarding, climbing trees
Dislikes: Bland food, pollen, tiny dogs, pop music

History: Minnie never met her parents when they were happy, she only remembers her mother's drug habit. Her only knowledge of her father is what her mother said about him behind his back. Despite her home life, Minnie worked really hard at school. Her grades were always good, she would even help her older sister with her homework. She was especially good at art, music and creative writing, but always kept up in her other subjects.

She wasn't exactly popular but she was on good terms with most of her classmates, so she found it hard when she had to move away. She was relieved to be away from her mother, however, who gave her a great deal of grief. She always felt like she didn't belong in the family, she just wanted to feel loved. She missed her friends but she was safe in America with her auntie.

Her aunt tried to give her and her sister a good childhood, or at least what was left of it. She used any savings she had to indulge in their hobbies and let them do things they enjoyed. She bought a second-hand guitar and some chord books for Haewon and horse riding lessons for Minnie. She began to become a skillful equestrian at her young age, though couldn't ride often due to the cost. She was always grateful whenever she could spend time with the horses, though.

Minnie witnessed Do-Yun's death and it weighs heavily on her. She won't talk about it and is yet to explain to Haewon what she saw.
Strengths: Minnie is friendly and gets on with a lot of people. Adults tend to see her as polite. She's small and willing to crawl into small spaces to retrieve things. She's also fast and nimble, she's hard to catch once she slips from your grip. She's very caring and sympathetic.
Weaknesses: Minnie is a little emotional and scares easy, she still sees walkers as terrifying and hasn't gotten the hang of killing them yet. She's pretty nervous in general and is unlikely to tell you if something is wrong.
Likes: Sweet foods, the colour blue, animals (especially rabbits and horses), strawberries, big sweaters, hugs.
Dislikes: Tight fitting clothes, the dark, walkers, cheese.

Cameron Yates was born in a backwater town in Arizona, to a hard-working single mother. His life was relatively good for the first six months, he was just a little absent minded and didn’t pay attention to anything- or at least, that’s what everyone assumed. In reality, he couldn’t hear anything. He paid attention to everything he could see, but no one could call his attention otherwise. However, his life didn’t change much afterwards.

His mother bought herself a book on ASL, teaching both him and herself whenever she had the time. Eventually, he started learning on his own- almost too fast for her to keep up. But their life was good, even when school started for young Cameron.

He learned how to read lips and how to sign fluently- in both ASL and LSM (Mexican Sign Language). He developed a love for the monster horror genre, particularly black-and-white movies- he didn’t know how much this would help him in the future. He wasn’t withdrawn from people, and he wasn’t a wallflower. His life was comfortable, just in between.

He lost everyone when the apocalypse began- his mother, his best friend, his tutor. Everyone gone. Now, he’s doing his best to take care of a young girl who seems to be really pissed off at him.

-Completely deaf in both ears

Skills:
-While his hearing is completely gone, this isn’t all that bad. His other four senses are heightened, meaning he can usually see or smell the undead before anyone else. He is hyper-aware of his surroundings, which makes him a valuable asset to other survivors.

-All else fails? He can run fast. He ran track in high school, then he ran for exercise in college. If flight is an option, he’ll pick that over fighting.

-Has extensive horror movie knowledge, understands things about the dead that others might not.

History
Etienne was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to two high school kids who didn’t really want her. They gave her a first name and shipped her off to the adoption center. Luckily, she was adopted quickly and didn’t have to live in the foster system. Her adopted family was a large one, full of love and laughter.

Then she found out she had epilepsy. The whole family walked on eggshells around her, sheltering her from the world. All she wanted was her freedom, but they were scared. They thought the slightest thing could set her off, and that terrified them.

She was homeschooled all the way through 8th grade. She didn’t get the chance to make any friends, join any sports, anything. What she did have were her video games. A connection to other people through a screen. Apex, Overwatch, League of Legends. They helped her feel less alone, less trapped.

Then the apocalypse came. She was separated from her family. Now all she has is a stranger who won’t even talk to her.

  Jane is a very outspoken person. It might be out of her cautious efforts for the people she loves, but she is as loyal as they come. Jane is the type of person that can easily sacrifice something or even someone if it means keeping her family or loved ones out of harm's way. She's a quick thinker in most dangerous situations and a really smooth talker when it counts, but sometimes her emotions can easily cloud her ways of thinking if the worst is on her mind. She can also be a short fuse if you rub her the wrong way, but no matter how mad you get her if you are loyal to her she'd do anything in her power to help you. Jane is also pretty small in build which doesn't make her very strong. Another physical hinderance to her is her Bradycardia - which is a heart arrhythmia that causes her heart to beat slower than usual. She doesn't have an attack super often because she had a pacemaker attached to the valves in her heart, but because of this it can cause easier fatigue, chest pains, dizziness and near-fainting if an attack is that bad.   Jane grew up in a community notably near the poverty line in a trailer park with her mother, her older brother Sean and her younger sister Her mom had a boyfriend that moved them into their first actual house when Jane was 17. It was a 3 bedroom with a backyard all to theirselves and no one in Jane's family had ever had anything close to it. At first this new change came with a bit of wary gratefulness, but soon after it turned to shock and despair when Jane walked in on her mom's boyfriend assaulting her little sister. She freaked out on him and he ended up beating her up and threatening the two of them that if they told somebody would get hurt. When she had the chance she told her mom and nothing broke Jane's heart more than to watch in silence as her mother lectured her not to get involved. She didn't want anything to do with the situation and that reaction turned Jane's life upside-down. Little did they know, the outbreak was slowly going into full-swing. Jane's step dad forced her in his car and drove drunk late into the night. He ended up swerving and crashing off the road--flying through the windshield and dying. Jane woke up to a bloody mess and groggy sounds being heard from outside.   David is a relatively shy kid with lots of passion and guts. He's more of an observer as he doesn't speak that often. Before the outbreak he had intense social anxiety that kept him missing school a lot and quitting his favorite sport: baseball. Nowadays he feels as if all his attention is on survival--now seeing people is either a huge relief or a huge threat. He's very passionate when he cares about someone and will protect them at all costs. His mental strong suits are definitely his ability to observe quietly and keep as calm as possible in intense situations. He's not shy to step up if something needs to be taken care of or someone needs help. Physically, he's fairly agile and quick with a knife or handheld weapon. He's decent with a gun due to his prior childhood years shooting BB guns out of his window at things when he was bored.   David grew up an average suburban kid with a father and a mother. He never really bonded with either that much since as soon as they trusted him at the house alone, they were always at work or on vacation/business trips together. When this whole thing started, his parents were away in New York City for a business meeting and he has not seen them since. He tries not to think about it much though, but New York City was one of the first cities to go dark.
