The Ancestral home of the Belgarion family, tracing back to King Belgarion, the Sorcerer. The city-state of Riva was founded long ago by Riva Iron-Grip for the sole purpose of defending the Orb of Aldur from those who would attempt to steal it. The Rivans live an outwardly military lifestyle, wearing mostly simple, monochrome clothing. However, within the safety of their own home they are a very expressive people. Many Rivans are capable of playing at least one instrument, and they often pursue some for of art in their personal time. Because of this artistic skill, items and artwork crafted in Riva tend to be very exquisite, and are often in high demand.
