Realistic or Modern The Plague

~Davis Butler~

I see the indentation and I steer clear. As I get parallel with it, I see....

GM>Davis

You can tell a path to the indentation has been left, though very slight. The stench of decomposition suddenly hits your noses as you come your closest to it without straying from the path. Your companion speaks up, "Pew, what the hell is that smell?" You can't help but feel on edge as you anticipate what it is.

Kenneth

I arrive at the medical bay as requested, and wait for a doctor to examine me. I see the girl from earlier still waiting, and I speak to her, "Did they even say you have anything?"

I pace away from the decomposing smell, very worried that we could contradict a disease from it.

(so sorry guys, I've been busy and couldn't check website.)

(and wow, 2 pages...)

Payton

She sighed, rubbing her nose repeatedly in frustration, "Daniel... Agh... Maybe you should have some alone time with Sarah..." she figured he'd say his last words to his wife before she has leave him and take the rest of the group to the nearesst town.

DM > Davis

Your two mates walk away from the mess with you. I may or may not take this time to roll for some sort of random event...

DM > Payton

Daniel stays laying down. He speaks through his shirt, "I suppose..." At this point, you can also see blood starting to trickle down from his nose. (Yeah, I know looking away from a roleplay for a short time can leave you out of many things.)

DM > Kenneth

She looks at him nervously. "I hate it here. I truly, truly hate it here. I haven't gotten my own rations in two days because somehow they think I'm a risk of infection."

(what happens after spores? Do they just die?)

Payton

(trying out first person)

I'm not sure if this is the best idea, but if I don't, Sarah will hate me, she's the only person closest to a friend. "Two minutes, and we leave." Sarah nodded but didn't reply, I tucked my hands back into the pockets of my jacket and rejoined the group.

(Your first person, no offense, is better than 3rd person. Meh, that may be just because I roleplay in 1st person all the time. Erm...depends on what you did. If you cured them, then yes, unless you get all the dead skin out of their lungs. And they would also explode if you didn't cure them.)

DM > Davis

(Rolling for something random to happen, higher is better, lower is worse)

You come across a path of trees close to the path. There appears to be an abadoned vehicle poorly hidden inside the brush, a red minivan. You notice the two front tires have been torn and there are bags visible from the window.

Kenneth

I comment to the girl, "Yeah, I don't like it here either. Though I have to admit, our odds are better here than being out there.

DM > Payton

You walk away from the couple, trying to give them privacy. You can't help but feel like some threat is near, though you can't quite figure out what it is...

(lol, I write a lot of diary based essays, in 1st person and past tense.)

(alright, that makes sense, I probably won't be curing anyone anytime soon...)

Davis: I go over to the minivan. "Stay back, there could be a diseased man in here, or something you could catch the disease with." I say. I check the van, and I check the bags.

Payton

(I'll keep the 1st person thing going for a while, but eventually I'll mess up)

The constant chills running down my spine was however, not helping with this situation, I have a bad feeling, I can feel it in my guts, and always, no matter what, trust the guts.

It was a long 2 minutes, during that time, I was either biting my nails or scratching my head. "Calm yourself man." treehugger John said in his low hippie voice, "I am calm! And I'm not a man." I don't like him, not a bit, sometimes I wonder if he smokes pot behind our backs. "AlrIght, duuude." John backed away, leaving me by myself.

You open the back of the van. There are two suitcases and a duffle-bag. A few articles of clothing, most notably a shirt for the band "Java-Nama" (fictitious), and you also note the absence of a decomposition smell.

GM > Payton

After the two minutes, Sara comes back to you. She, as expected, looks rather sad, but gives you a hug, thanking you lightly. As you continue to walk, you see a sign as you head up the mountain. Q-Town 8 mi. Patrol End Here. You begin to enter a lightly grassed area. You soon notice a man sitting in the road, looking out over the valley.

I take them out, and hand a shirt to Karen and the women. I put the rest of the clothes in my bag, and I continue walking. "What is your name?" I ask the lady walking beside Karen.

DM > Davis

(You leaving the duffle-bags?) "I thought you'd never ask. Winnie." She says as she puts on the Java-Nama T as an additional layer.

(No....) "Nice to meet you Winnie. I'm Davis, and this is Karen." I say, noticing another sign that said Q-town 3 miles.

DM > Davis

(Oh, okay. I only saw references to the clothing ;p) As you are walking, you begin to feel tired. The flora becomes more plentiful as you go slowly down the slope. The tree patches become more consistent, and eventually you will be entering thick forest. You can see where the trees had been cut to make room for the Q-town in the valley below.

I begin to run down to where the Q-town is. I arrive there. (You choose what happens next, I have little knowledge of Q-towns, if they have entrances or not.)

You arrive at one of the cardinal entrances to the square-bordered Q-Town. This one, like the last, is a mass of tents with a large barbed chain-link fence around the compound. The gate you arrive at is guarded by three guards, two holding shotguns and one holding a spiked mace. The mace-man steps forward. "Welcome to Q-Town number twenty-one." His voice is extremely prideful and his head is held high. "If you wish to enter, you must present yourselves as clean, healthy individuals."

I try to appear friendly, and I smile. "And how do I do this? By the way, beautiful place here."

DM > Davis

(Wow, never got an alert) The maceman continues to speak loud and proud, one of the gunmen behind him turns away with an exasperated look. "If you were a resident here, present to me your brand of approval. If you are foreign, one of my soldiers will escort you to the medical border room."

"Alrighty sir. I am a foreign, and so are the girls. I request permission to let some people out, as I am trying to make a civilization, like the ones we had years ago." I say, beckoning the ladies to step toward as well.

DM > Davis

The guard looks at you with a strange face. "Excuse me, but you wish to withdraw some of our happy citizens to go out into the wilderness, risk infection or starvation or beast attack?" The guard lets out a hearty chuckle. "I can let you in after I get you checked. If anyone wishes to embark on your 'quest', we will let them out."

"Thank you sir!" I say, hoping the girls wouldn't be too nasty about the checkup, especially Winnie.

DM > Davis

One of the guards behind the unique one steps forward. He appears slightly tired, if the bags under his eyes are any indication. He begins to walk right parallel to the fence. "Follow me to the medical place," he speaks in a lazy voice. We begin to walk the girls with you seem rather calm. Winnie, however, appears to be forcing her composure, a hand clutching her other arm as she walks nervously.
