Lucy winced at her mothers sarcastic tone and bit her tongue trying very hard not to say anything that would get both of them in trouble. Her mother started to go into a rant and it caught Lucy off guard.

She looked up from the ground and met her mothers eyes as she said she was furious. "I was planning on telling you tonight mother! What on earth are you furious about?" She asked being so bold as to challenge her mother slightly. She couldn't help it. Her mother and her were a lot alike.

Crossing her arms defensively she really hoped that they wouldn't deny her and James to be together. "I...I love him." She murmured softly. Just loud enough for her mother and James to hear. The words honestly slipped out before she could even register that she said them. But once she realized that she had admitted to loving James to her mother, she looked up and into her mothers eyes silently pleading that she would understand.

James looked up to Lucy and Shannon as he hear the former tell her mother she loved him. Despite the current situation, it brought a small smile to his face. For now, he knew it was best to stay where he was rather than get in the middle of Shannon and Lucy during the current exchange.

"You were planning on telling me tonight? Was that after you'd both played around in bed?" she questioned. "I'm furious because you've both clearly been sneaking around." Hearing Lucy say she loved James almost stopped Shannon from being angry, but she didn't let it show. "If you love him, then this has clearly been going on for some time and that's what is pissing me off, Lucy. No wonder James was willing to take the fall for Gianna's death!"

"Mrs. Sullivan, I-" James began, getting to his feet.

"Stay where you are, James. I'm talking to Lucy at the moment," Shannon firmly told him.

Lucy winced again and clenched her fists as her mother accused them of fooling around in bed. She shook her head slowly as she said that James and her had both been sneaking around. "Mother we have known each other for years, we practically grew up together!" She tried to stay calm, but was failing a bit at it. "This is literally only the 3rd time we've kissed. And this has been going on for a while." She confirmed and sighed.

"I kept this from you and dad because I knew that it wasn't important at the time. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong and god dammit I would just like to have one thing go right!" She said looking her mother dead in the eyes, throwing her hands up slightly in a "giving up" type fashion.

"I realize that I snuck around and I am really really sorry mom." She croaked out. "But James has been there for me as long as I can remember. And I can't imagine being with anyone else....really." She spoke honestly and from the heart. It was a little easier to do since she could see James' face.

She finally went silent and just watched her mother for a reaction.

Shannon let Lucy speak without interrupting. She then unfolded her arms and stood I'm a less threatening posture. "I'm sorry so much has gone on that you felt this wasn't important to tell us." She sighed. "You know how much your father and I hate secrets. Our family has always been so close, but the last few months that hasn't been the case and people have stopped being open."

Shannon glanced to James, her face less harsh. "I know he's been there for you. James has always been here for this family. Don't mistake my anger for anger at your choice of boyfriend. The anger is for the secrecy." Shannon had always thought her daughters would marry some decent law abiding citizen, perhaps a doctor or a lawyer. With Sinead's refined interests and her desire to reject the family business Shannon figured the girl may still find a sensible gentleman. James was dangerous and rough around the edges, but he was also a good person and one she could trust. After all, Shannon had married a bad boy gangster herself. "It makes me happy to know you have found someone you love. Believe me, it does," Shannon said with a smile. She wasn't quite sure yet how Emmet would take this news.

Shannon beckoned James over and looked him in the eyes. "James, I like you and I'm grateful for everything you've done, but... If you upset Lucy or break her heart, I'll kill you. Understand?"

James quickly nodded his head, a smirk appearing on his face. "I wouldn't dream of it, Mrs. Sullivan. I love her and I would never hurt her," he assured Shannon.

Alex smiled what he agreed with her about them looking homeless. She was sure that sitting out in the open after what had happened was not a good idea but she didnt want to let go of Conor and breakaway from this hug, she was also afraid that he would tell her that he was heading home or going somewhere she couldnt go. When he spoke Alex snapped out of her thoats and slowly pulled her head back a little so she could look around the Alley. The mention of Angel had made her paranoid, what if he was still following her. Alex didnt see any sign of life and was relieved however she held a frown on her lips "Im not sure at all but I did what he asked so he should keep his word" her tone was bitter and she sighed before speaking again, she knew Angel was a good man for keeping promises but Alex really didnt know if he would keep it in this circumstances "I still have my bag packed and beside the window, in case he does" Alex admitted. She froze for a second when she remembered that Angel might not be their only worries while she didnt see them as the type to snitch on Conor to his parents, she knew they probably wanted her head and her dating Conor would probably add to the reasons why.
"What would your family do if they found out?" She asked him curiously

Lucy was relieved to say the least. She knew her mother and father hated secrets. They were a very open family. Or at least they use to be. Conor was lying to their parents when he was seeing Vinnie's daughter and Sinead wasn't being honest either with her sneaking around with Angel.

Lucy felt guilty for keeping this from her mother but now what is was out in the open and she wasn't upset with their relationship, Lucy felt like she could officially breathe. Lucy's cheeks turned pink as James walked over and said what he did. Lucy lightly took his hand and squeezed it gently with her own.
"I really am sorry for all the secrecy, and I do promise that from now on, I need to be a lot more honest about things..." she was just so happy that her mother accepted her choice in relationship and it made her smile widely.

Lucy respected her mother a great deal. She was just as strong and as powerful (maybe even more) as any man living in this house. And although she made a threat about killing James if Lucy was ever hurt by him. Lucy couldn't help but think if something were to happen, and they separated, would his spot within the business be at stake.

The matte black limo pulled up infront of the Sullivan household. As the limo stalled infront of the gate. The driver rolled down the window. Speaking to the man in charge of the gate, he informed him that the driver was here to personally escort Sinead and her band to their performance. Unbeknownst to the guard, Angel sat reclined in the back, grasping a cigarette. He informed Sinead prior to go along with the plan, as he wasn't on best terms with the Sullivan's right now. From the tinted window, he was able to see the guard's flashlight peering into the back of the limo. From the outside, the guard was only able to make out the cases of musical equipment. Once the flashlight clicked off, he knew he was in the clear. Knowing Sinead would be down any second, he adjusted his tie.

Conor watched Alex as she seemed to be cautiously looking down the alley. "Are you expecting someone?" he flatly asked. He then referred back to Angel. "Well, my next conversation with Angel will certainly be an interesting one," he thought aloud.

When Alex asked him what his family would do if they found out, he shook his head and frowned deeper. "They'd be furious, if I'm honest. My parents would shout a lot, my mum would possibly beat the shit out of me. Lucy would probably never forgive me, not after what you and your dad did to her. I imagine Sinead and Carrick would be pretty disappointed too," he admitted. Perhaps that was part of the reason he couldn't open up to his family. He especially struggled to share his feelings with Lucy without feeling guilty about his secret, considering what she had been put through." He sighed. "So yeah, I'd probably have to move into the Emerald permanently, if not further away."

"All I ask for is honesty, Lucy. Honesty and family loyalty," Shannon told her. "Your dad might take some convincing, though. No offence, James, but you're hardly the kind of respectable gentleman a father dreams of his daughter falling in love with. And no, I will not be the one to tell him. You two need to do that yourselves if you want to gain his approval."

"I wouldn't expect any less, Mrs. Sullivan. I don't have to have a fancy job or fancy accent to be a gentleman," James told Shannon, placing his arm around Lucy's waist. "I'll treat Lucy better than any snooty rich man could."

"Oh, give it a rest, before I vomit and start to think you've gone soft, James," Shannon scoffed. "If you're going to start helping old ladies cross the road and giving motivational speeches, we'll have to find a new driver and you'll have to find your balls," she sarcastically remarked. But there was a twinkle in her eyes that suggested she was just teasing him.

Sinead approached the car as one of her father's men was holding a flashlight and inspecting the limo. She rolled her eyes and patted the man on the shoulder. "Oh, David, do give it a rest, will you?" she playfully asked him. She then sent a sweet smile to him as he switched off the flashlight. "Is it now safe for me to get into my carriage?" she rhetorically asked. "Have a good night, David," she wished him. She then opened one of the limo doors and climbed into the vehicle, holding the top of her hair and headband so as not to knock a hair out of place. Once the car door was shut and she was sat down, Sinead adjusted her dress to make sure the tops of her legs were covered so she was nothing but ladylike.

Once the car set off, she finally looked up towards Angel and moved to sit next to him. "Good evening, Giovanni. How has your day been? I do hope you're looking forward to the play," she pleasantly told him.

Lucy was comforted by James' words and smiled when he wrapped his arm around her waist. Leaning into him slightly her mouth hung open at her mothers words before she was thrown into a giggle fit. "Oh mother, your sarcasm never ceases to amaze me." She laughed out loud and looked to James for a moment.

"Snooty rich men are too boring for the likes of this family." She smiled at him and offered him a wink before sighing and looking at her mother."We will talk to dad when he is available to sit down and talk about it...because I'm sure he isn't going to take this well."

Alex looked at Conor when he asked was she expecting someone. She sighed "no but I wasn't expecting anyone the last time I was followed" she said "still a little paranoid" she added as an after thought. Alex just nodded at what he said about Angel. She had no interest in talking to him so if Conor wanted to then he was free to. Alex listened as he listed how his family would react and she bit her lip. She just hoped that she had thrown James off the scent with her lie or that he wouldnt tell anyone what she had said. "We'll just have to make sure they never find out so" she assured, although she was worried that it was already too late, all thanks to her.

"You're right about boring snooty rich men. That's why you'll never meet your grandparents," Shannon said, thinking of her own parents and how snooty they were. Cutting all ties with them was one of the best things she did. "You'll have to be patient with your father, okay?" Shannon suggested. "Well, I'm going to stop making you two lovebirds feel awkward. Lucy, dear, can I use one of your hairpins? I'm going out for a few drinks with Vanessa. Personally, I don't think the girl is thick-skinned enough for modelling," she explained. Vanessa worked for the same modelling agency and had talked Shannon into going out for a chat. Vanessa was actually Olivia Svensson, working for Vinnie, but the Sullivans were unaware of the younger woman at all.

Once Shannon had gone off to finish getting dressed up, James finally let out a relieved breath he didn't realise he'd been holding in. "I'm pretty sure I nearly had a heart attack back there," he said, placing his hand to his wounded chest. "I suppose that could have gone much worse," he noted. He then scratched the back of his head. "Your mother sure does have a way with words," he joked. "I'm not getting on her bad side in a hurry!"

Once Angel had left, Vinnie scanned the room of the hotel bar. He noticed Leo working, walking around checking on the staff. Vinnie caught the young man's attention and beckoned him over. "I thought I told you I didn't want to see your face in here tonight?" he asked Leo, an irritated frown visible on his face.

"I'm just trying to keep myself busy. I enjoy it here," Leo answered, not exactly convincing.

"Okay, Leo. You listen to me now. You wasted time being too scared to tell Alena how you felt. She's gone to Italy and if I have my way she won't be coming back. If circumstances were different, I would have approved of you being with my daughter. But nothing happened, you two never shared your feelings, so get over it. Go out somewhere and find yourself another girl. You deserve to find someone." Vinnie took a sip of his whiskey. "Forget about Gianna too. If you were at all to blame, do you think you'd still be working in my hotel? No. Now get out of here and do not come in to work tomorrow," he ordered the young man.

Conor nodded his head. "Well, I don't intend on telling them any time soon. My family has enough to deal with without having to disown my father's heir," he remarked. Conor gestured for Alex to stand up so he could then do so himself. As he got to his feet, he had to hold onto the wall for support, the pain in his back and ribs still quite intense, especially with movement. He caught his breath back before pointing in the direction he had originally been heading. "I don't know where you were intending on going, but I'm finding a pub. I know there's some shithole nearby, mostly full of old drunks. Old drunks who I don't fucking know, so all the better." He shrugged his shoulders very slightly. "If that's not your thing, then I guess this is where we part ways. I'm not letting you pick the meeting venue this time, that's for sure," he commented. His remark might seem harsh, but Alex would detect the smallest glimmer of a smirk on his face as he said it. What she and Angel had done wasn't funny, but Conor was the kind of person who still found humour in serious situations.

Lucy happily gave her mother a hairpin before she left to finish getting ready for her night out. Lucy let out a breath as she left and turned to James' who did the same thing. She laughed lightly at the fact that they had the same reaction, and gave him a soft smile. "She is pretty intimidating huh?" She asked and laughed again when James said he nearly had a heart attack. "Don't go dying on me now, I would be terribly upset if I lost you." She murmured.

"I think you are more afraid of my mother than the Romano's." She mused lightly before looking back towards her room momentarily. "I'm just glad we weren't actually...." she trailed of a bit her lip, a blush coming to her cheeks. Normally this type of conversation was something she could handle with easy. Constantly flirting and using creative induendos, she was normally so confident. But for some reason James made her feel like she was young and naive again. "Now...we just have to tell my father." She murmured and sighed.

Her father was difficult to read most of the time. James and him had a good relationship at one point but with James taking the blame for Gianna's death at the time, it really put a strain on it.

"I think it's my turn to be scared." She chuckled lightly before leaning in and kissing him again. Turning to her room again, she realized she missed living on her own. "Maybe I should find another place...."she thought out loud

Alex nodded but couldn't think of a reply since she may have already let everything out in the open for him. She brushed off the thought as he motioned for her to stand up and she did but carefully watched him as he stood up also. Alex moved forward and put her around his waist to help support him. She looked in the direction that Conor had pointed. "Alcohol and old men sounds like my kind of place" She said jokingly with a wink before linking his arm so to give him more support as they walked. She caught the slight smirk after his comment about picking the venue and gave a small laugh "Yeah you can be in charge of that from now on" She smiled slightly to herself as they walked, she was going to enjoy this while its lasts because no doubt something was going to happen soon that would mess them up all over again.

Nicolo had woken up late that afternoon to a quiet house. He spent the majority of the afternoon lounging around before deciding to get dressed and head out for the day. After going to the foxes den and finding no-one he wanted to hang out with, Nicolo made his way to the hotel. Once he arrived in the hotel bar, Nicolo could see his Father talking to Leo or more so ordering Leo to have a life. Smirking to himself, Nicolo walked over and put his arm around Leo's shoulder "Ah dad be nice to the kid" he joking ruffled Leo's hair. He knew Leo was suffering as well and imagined that Leo missed Alena just as much as he did. Nicolo took a seat across from his father and smiled up at Leo "Get a drink and come sit with us, or go get changed and we can head to a different bar later" he suggested to Leo.

"You're right. I'd rather be locked in a room with the Romanos than with an angry version of your mum," James joked. He then smiled as she blushed whilst she mentioned they could have been caught in a more awkward position. "I'm glad we weren't too. I think I would be hunting for my balls if that had been the case."

James apprehensively nodded when Lucy said they had to tell Emmet. He knew she was right, there was no way they couldn't now Shannon knew the truth.

James placed his hands gently on Lucy's shoulders as they both kissed. "You don't need to rush into finding your own place. Don't forget, I have a house. Granted, I hardly sleep in it, but it's there," he told her.

Lucy raised an eyebrow in surprise as he mentioned he had a place of his own. "Oh yea, its kinda hard to remember that you have one when you are always sleeping over her or in your car." She chuckled softly and heard Lady get up and walk over to them. She reached down and picked up the puppy before kissing her head softly. "I have yet to see this place of your you know." She smiled cheekily. "And you might want to reconsider your offer. I think I would be over there all the time if I could, I love this house, but ever since I moved back in all there ever seems to be is stress."

"And since you are so hard to read sometimes i am having a hard time imagining what it looks like....and I think i still you still owe me a dance....and I owe you a back rub." she chuckled before placing the pup back down on the floor again. Lady happily scampered down the stairs to explore.

"What can I say? The company here is better than at my place," he remarked. "You can come and see my place any time you want to, Lucy. Lady is welcome too," he said acknowledging the puppy Lucy was now holding. "You being over at my place all of the time wouldn't be a bad thing. I know I wouldn't complain!"

"I'll just have to let you see it for yourself sometime." When Lucy mentioned the back rub and dance, James suggestively raised his eyebrows. "You know, I'm done driving for the day and that massage is both tempting and overdue. How about we go over to my place for a few hours now?" he seriously asked her.

Lucy raised both her eyebrows again in surprise but nodded her head almost a little too quickly at the thought of going over to his place. At least she knew that her mother wouldn't walk in. "Sure that actually sounds lovely." She murmured gently, her cheeks turning the slightly bit pink. "Let me just grab some shoes." She said to him before quickly kissing his cheek and walking back into her room.

She moved to her wardrobe and opened it slowly before grabbing a pair of flats. Slipping them on, she immediately walked back to James and held out her hand to him. "Shall we go?'

James Porter

ea7a2258969c8758043cb7eba37fbaea-jpg.345842

James gave Lucy a smile before letting her get ready to go. He made his way downstairs and waited by the front door. Once she was ready, he regarded the puppy. "Is Lady coming too?" Either way, he would then walk Lucy to his car, frowning as he pointed out the dent near the passenger door, caused by one of Romano's goons slamming his skull against the car. "I'm getting rid of this car as soon as I find a new one," he explained as he opened the passenger door for him. Lucy would already know how precious he was about his car, even a scratch would be a disaster for the perfectionist.

The drive was relatively short and James pulled up outside the bungalow and parked the car up the driveway, in front of another of his cars. The house was detached but in the middle of half a dozen other bungalows. The garden was kept simple as he didn't have time for maintaining anything more. As he unlocked the door, he figured this was where some would apologise for the mess, but he didn't need to. He placed one hand to his gun and used the other to switch on the lights. After looking around, he was satisfied the place was safe.

"Welcome to my home," he told her, letting out a relaxed breath. Lucy would find the place was simply decorated with mostly essentials but some scenic paintings to make it more homely. Although, the jukebox James had previously mentioned might not seem essential to most. As well as being uncluttered the place seemed extremely clean and tidy. It was the best way for James to know if anything had been moved whilst he'd been away. "What do you think then? I know it's pretty basic, but you already know how much time I spent here."

Lucy met him downstairs and when he asked if Lady was coming, Lucy nodded her head. "I think she would be upset if we didn't take her." Lucy chuckled before letting James lead her towards the car, with little Lady following close behind. Lucy saw the dent in the car door and made a small face in distaste the fact that James' head made that dent made her worry about him. He informed her that he would be getting a new car when he could find one and she let a small smile show. He was a perfectionist when it came to his cars.

The drive was short and when James pulled up to the small bungalow, Lucy couldn't help but think how simple it was. Not that there was anything wrong with simple, in all honest, she wasn't one for big homes. They were too much to maintain. As Lucy walked up to the door with him, Lady was already bounding towards the front door. Laughing lightly at her dogs spirit, she watched James open the door before he welcomed her to his home.

She was pleased to find that he was just as neat and tidy as she was. The inside of the bungalow was simplistic but in the best of ways. Nothing was too cluttered and it didn't seem crowded inside. When he asked her what she thought of the place, she smiled softly and turned to him. "I love it." She told him and slowly walked towards the window and looked outside. It was a nice little neighborhood from what she could see in the dark. The outside light from the next bungalow over was on so it lit it up just enough to see. After a moment she turned from the window and smiled at him. "I respect a man who knows how to keep a house clean." She winked at him before slowly walking towards him.

"I'm glad you like it," James said, smiling back to Lucy. He was quite modest when it came to his home and even himself. It was his skills and achievements that he was able to take pride in, partly why it hurt him so much on the occasions where he'd failed in his duties to the Sullivans. "The neighbours are all decent enough. Mostly old couples and the younger guy next door lives alone."

James couldn't help but grin when Lucy made her comment about a man who can keep a house clean. "Surely you're not surprised at this point?" he joked, figuring she'd seen many clues for his perfectionism.

When she walked towards him, James faced her and wrapped his arms around her waist, bringing her close so he could kiss her again. It was just nice to embrace her without worrying about anyone finding out or walking in on them. For a moment, as he glanced to Lady, he couldn't help but picture himself actually settling down with Lucy. He'd never even thought about having a family or even a future before, but now the idea was in his head he quite liked it. "Well, isn't this nice?" he rhetorically asked. "I think after last week, we deserved a little peace and quiet."

Lucy listened to him as he talked about the neighbors and gave a small smile and shook her head at his question. "No i'm not surprised actually. I just love it." She said happily before her wrapped his arms around her waist and pulling him close to her. She smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. His gaze went to Lady and she looked to the small pup as well, who had made herself more than comfortable on the carpet, laying on her back sprawled out as if she was a little human.

This is what Lucy so desperately wanted. This type of life, one where she could be alone with James without having to worry about keeping secrets and people walking in on them. One where she would be able to wake up every morning in his arms and with little Lady cuddled up beside them. When he said that they deserved this after what had happened, she couldn't have agreed more. "I agree with that." She murmured before pressing her lips to his softly. The kiss lasted a few moments before she pulled back.

"I think we deserve this for the rest of our lives honestly." She whispered to him.

It was then that Fortuna entered the bar, accompanied by the telltale sound of her clicking heels. She was dressed in a stylish black coat, which clung to the hitwoman's figure before flowing out into a skirt-like bottom, gleaming black stiletto heels, and a striking red short-sleeved dress underneath her jacket that featured a peplum hemline. As she walked in, she immediately caught sight of Vinnie, Nicolo, and Leo sitting together, or rather Nicolo was coaxing Leo into either getting a drink and sitting with them or going to another bar with him, if she wasn't getting rusty in lip reading.

Pasting a smile onto her ruby-colored lips, Fortuna casually approached the trio, taking a seat at their table. "I hope you don't mind if I took a seat here." She spoke, the words flowing naturally from her mouth.

Vinnie looked up at Nicolo when he arrived on the scene and smirked at the comment about him going easy on Leo. "What?! I thought I was been nice. I was giving him valuable life advice. He needs to go out, get drunk and find a girl," he remarked.

Leo meanwhile turned his head to face his friend and then began tidying his hair up after it had been ruffled out of place. "Sure, we can get a drink here-" he began.

"Get changed and get out of my hotel!" Vinnie interrupted. His tone was firm but the smirk on his face suggested it was meant in the nicest way possible. Leo relented and told Nicolo he would go get changed so their head out to a different bar. Vinnie then looked to Nicolo and casually sat back in his seat. Vinnie hadn't been home too much over the last few days, instead getting his head back into business and laying his grief to rest. "So, Nicolo. How are you doing? Anything interesting been going on?" he curiously asked. He mostly just wanted to known his son was doing okay now they'd had time to process their grief.

It was then that Vinnie noticed Fortuna had arrived, dressed as stylish and elegant as always. "Fortuna, you're always welcome at our table," he assured her. She and Nicolo would likely notice the change in his face and voice compared to recent weeks. It seemed he'd been able to cope with his grief and perhaps focus on business now, rather than revenge. "How has business been going at your end?" He hadn't spoken to her in person since before she dealt with Sergeant Hunter, so that topic of conversation was likely to come up.

Conor looked to Alex as she put her arm around his waist to support him. "Thanks," he said, nodding his head. He was so used to being strong, fit and healthy, that it was so alien to him to need any sort of physical assistance. "Oh, so you like old men, huh? I'll help you find one in the pub, then." he managed to joke. He was aware of the million thoughts telling him to keep away from Alex, but he wasn't one for listening to his head when his heart took over.

When they entered the pub, nobody paid much attention to them. Though it was mostly filled with men, there was the odd wife or random woman hanging around with some of the groups. Mostly, though, the customers were sat talking amongst themselves, drinking or playing billiards. This suited the usually social Conor very much. He walked to the bar and ordered their drinks before carrying the glasses to an empty table in the corner. Once then were seated, Conor took a long drink from his pint of beer before eventually looking to Alex. He only now saw how tired she looked. Despite her part in what had happened to him, he still remembered that she had only recently lost her mother. "How are you holding up then? Are you and Alena coping since... since you know?" he asked. It felt wrong to mention Gianna's name knowing his own beloved sister had killed her.

James grinned as he noticed the puppy had got comfortable on his carpet. "Lady approves too. That's it, I'm keeping your dog," he teased Lucy. "I already told you, Lucy. Things are going to get better now, especially once we convince your father of our relationship."

James then broke away from the embrace and pointed to the kitchen & dining area. "Do you want a drink? I have alcohol, but I still have some fresh milk if you just want something warm instead." As he stepped into the kitchen, he looked to Lucy. "Hopefully Vinnie got all of the revenge out of his system so he will leave you, Sinead and Carrick out of this now. Then we can go back to ripping each other off, with less discriminate beatings and shootings thrown in," he said, smirking as he realised how crazy it sounded for that to be normal. It was true, though. James was frequently in altercations with the Romanos, but they weren't exactly personal and didn't involve sick torture. "If only being a mechanic paid enough..." he mused aloud.

"Oh, I'd say that everything's doing quite well." Fortuna answered smoothly to Vinnie's inquiry, flashing him a confident grin. "There were a few bumps along the road every now and then, but nothing that couldn't be taken care off." She finished her brief report, crossing her legs whilst her hands rested in plain sight on her lap. True to her word, business was going smoothly as per usual, problems were inevitable, however, but even those were easily remedied. So far, at least. Things will likely stay calm for a while, but she wasn't one to get her hopes up.
